San Portales-Silverstone has been a great experience for us. Office and Maintenance Staff has been exceptional.
My husband and I love this community! The administrative staff is professional, courteous and very responsive to questions and/or concerns. The maintenance staff are always very friendly and pleasant and the community is very quiet and clean. The grounds are always maintained immaculately. Highly recommend.
Looks nice and good location. Security staff is good. Office staff not nearly as consistent as they should be for a property at this price point. Build quality is suspect- probably 20 maintenance requests over several years (various roof noise issues, appliances, roof leaks among others). Too many dogs- including aggressive dogs that had to be held back while near me. Also loud barking, dogs not on leashes, and waste. Doors to the units noisely slam shut with no solution provided. If you are sensitive to noise or work from home- please be aware- this is the worst place for landscaping noise!!!!!! I have lived in similar complexes for 10 years and never had to voice 1 complaint before moving here. Management does not care at all about the nuisance this causes residents- one response I got (after a 630 am chainsaw wakeup call) was that the hours depend on the landscapers schedule! (paying residents dont matter I guess). Management is often not responsive to criticism or consideration of solutions. Amenities are decent (though usually too much chemicals in hot tub), but staff went overboard with COVID precautions and a decline of office services beyond what was mandated. Not much loyalty to some long term residents.
I would give this place negative stars if I could. We recently did a cross-country move after living here for six months which we paid through the nose for a short term lease. We received our deposit refund check in the mail which included a detailed list of fees San Portales decided to deduct from said deposit. This list was full of erroneous charges some were from two months ago that had already been paid. We were model tenants, price gouging during a pandemic and skimming off the top of refund checks to the tune of hundreds of dollars that had nothing to do with the move-out condition of the apartment which, an apartment that was in better shape when we left than when we moved-in. This is not only sad but shameful to say the least. If, you want to lease from crooks and have your money stolen by all means live it up at San Portales aka VI Senior Retirement #2
San Portales is an absolutely amazing place to live. I like to test the waters prior to being able to give an honest opinion in regards to any establishment. After living here for nearly 3 months, I have nothing but amazing things to say. The leasing office goes above and beyond to accommodate all of their tenants. Maintenance is also top notch (that said, Ive only had to call them once - which also speaks volume to the build quality.) Beyond the excellent service, the community is consistently cleaned and maintained to uphold their high standards.I have and will continue to recommend San Portales as a go to spot to live in North Scottsdale!
Just signed a lease and haven’t even had a chance to get out to the pool. Can’t wait until I go back. This place is great very well-maintained and the people in the office like Christopher, Karen and Malaga our wonderful. So far all is good so I would recommend.
Mark Taylor properties are always fantastic, but San Portales definitely is a favorite! Its location is excellent with regards to shopping, hiking, the freeways - its a very beautiful community and while I am not 65 or older I do appreciate that its quiet 99.9% of the time. I have no children, no dogs and am quite respectful of others so this seemed like the perfect fit for me. Unfortunately I moved to FL due to family concerns, but am making my way back and if at all possible, would be residing at San Portales again in the not too distant future! PS if you want a more family-friendly community (to the person complaining that it seems to be 65 and older) there are MANY other properties in the Scottsdale area that have screaming kids and loud music you can go to.
This is a beautiful property, amazing clubhouse and pool. The floor plans are killer with garages that connect to the unit so you feel like you live in a house and not an apartment. The staff are all super nice and knowledgeable. They give you a recycling can and trash can with a nightly valet who take it to the dumpster for you.
So over a month ago I considered San Portales Scottsdale for my move from CA to AZ. I gave the management a $253.05 deposit $50 of which was for my credit check. I ended up changing my mind and will not be moving there. I was supposed to get my $203.04 deposit back but today is 5/29/20 and I still have no refund and the people in the Office keep saying the check was mailed You know the check is in the mail routine ! I live in Coronado, Ca not in China. I have called several times and still NO REFUND! I do NOT RECOMMEND this place because they keep lying about my refund check. Next Better Business Bureau!
Do not live her if you are 65 or under and still have any resemblance of a social life or have children. While the apartments are gorgeous, the community is a glorified retirement home. The property manager Karen has not empathy, no respect for the military and only cares about the older residents who are nosy and complain all of the time. She does very little to help manage normal issues that arise from communal living and is condescending. There are many many people that live there where this is their first time living in a multi family community and instead of help educating them on what to expect she penalizes good paying tenants, finding any cause she can to give you a write up. First it was not adhering to quiet hours, that was fixed, then it was my boyfriend was loitering in property as he walked my dog, then it was a notice for the use of profanity. There is an awful echo/noise problem and many good tenants are being driven out by the people who want to be in a retirement community. Tenants are getting complaints for smoking when they don’t smoke, tenants with children get notices for their kids playing outside. I have yet to meet a tenant who has not received some for of complaint. Additionally expect a rent hike as much as 26% after year one. This place is completely overrated and Karen is the worst property manager I have ever met. Don’t be fooled by its beauty, you will regret it.
This is the most beautiful, best managed rental property that I have experienced. My wife and I have lived here for 10 months, and are proud and privileged to be tenants. The management is most responsive, and requests for maintenance are met within a few hours.
We moved in almost 18 months ago and are so happy we did! We have a lovely, spacious apartment home with a connected garage on the first floor directly across from the pool! It is heaven on earth. We feel as if we are on a cruise ship going nowhere, but having a wonderful time. The other residents here have been so friendly and fun and we gather often, to play cards or games or mah jongg, or to attend the monthly super parties planned by the staff here, or just to hang out at the pool or exercise room or computer room. The staff her is the best. In the office and in maintenance. Both groups will do whatever it is to make you comfortable. The landscaping is also exceptional and the grounds so well kept. Thank you San Portales for giving us such a great home and service.
Enjoyed the experience of living in San Portales when I was in Scottsdale. The grounds are immaculately maintained, and maintenance is incredibly responsive. Great staff as well! Its a beautiful community!
A beautifully situated and designed apartment complex, quiet but still close to all the shops in Scottsdale Quarter and Kierland. Love the proximity to grocery stores as well.
I moved into San Portales eight weeks ago, within that time Ive been living with a bug issue-over 35 insects now, and counting. They are mostly silverfish, but also several beetles, a few unidentified (nasty looking) insects, one cockroach, a moth. These are just the insects that I have seen, not sure what comes out at night. After several pest control visits, requests for maintenance to seal the cracks, and have the neighbors sprayed, the issue is still occurring. I also asked management to spray the immediate grounds of the apartment - they never bothered responding to me. Yet when the pest control supervisor came to visit recently, she recommended the same thing. Perhaps management will respond to her?!At this point Ive made a decision to move out - I dont need more bugs crawling on my couch, on my bed... causing me a chronic unsettled feeling, undue stress, and general inconvenience with pest control. I also dont want to continuously be exposed to pesticide - though its a contact spray, its still an unnecessary risk that my pet and I should not have to tolerate.San Portales is contesting me on breaking my lease. They state theres a possibility the silverfish came in with my boxes when I moved in (silverfish eat cardboard), and they seem to ignore any explanation of the other insects. I realize anything is plausible, but I also realize this likelihood is very low - heres why:-When I moved in, the apartment floors were filthy, I used about 20 swifter pads and they were literally black with filth. The carpeting was clearly not cleaned properly - when I (still) run my hands over the carpeting theres a grimy film left on my palm. Professionally cleaned by my definition is steamed and/or shampooed... not neat lines in the carpet by a vacuum. The toilet seats in both bathrooms are stained as if theyre 20 years old (this apartment is about 2 years old)... and there was built-up crud on one of the toilet flushers. All of this told me that the previous residents did not clean, and San Portales did not clean the apartment thoroughly before I moved in. Sure, upon first glance the counters were shiny and the appliances were polished... but I realized they focus only on the aesthetics that catch your eye - and ignore the things they think they can get away with. The floors are dark (vinyl) wood, and the carpeting is a speckled brownish tan... easy to hide dirt, grime, and even crawling insects. The point to all of this, uncleanliness can lead to insects.-I moved here from San Francisco where silverfish are not prevalent (completely non-existent in my experience), its cool and dry there. I also moved from a high-rise condo where I literally had zero insects. I used new moving boxes, didnt have anything in storage, no basement or attic (where Ive learned silverfish are often found). I also moved via ABF - metal relocation containers held my boxes, nothing was in a local moving truck where bugs can be transported.-I watched a beetle crawl in and out of a crack in the wall... this spot has since been sealed after I requested maintenance to come in (Ive been taking the initiative with ideas to solve the issue, theres been no proactive assistance from management besides adding me to the pest control list, and having the pest control supervisor come by).-I watched a silverfish scurry into a crack along a baseboard - this occurred AFTER maintenance came in to seal the cracks. When they came in I pointed out areas I was particularly concerned with. They sealed some of those spots, but for most of the areas I pointed out the reply was its already sealed. Apparently not.-The continuous stream of insects hasnt stopped - theyre coming out of the cracks and openings of this unit. Also, theres the fact that its been a variety of insects, as mentioned above, not just silverfish.Common sense tells me the issue is not due to my boxes. San Portales does not want to take any responsibility, and they dont seem to care if a resident is living under these conditions.
This is a terrible place to live in for a luxury apartment I would rate this as a one there are better places in Arizona to have
Not moving to this place is exactly like a Senior community !!!!
Will check it out
