I found this service to be trustworthy, professional and compassionate. I do not usually post reviews, but I was calling in and noticed the one low review. I want to share that my experience was really wonderful. Even though this is a low cost direct cremation, I found the customer service to be amazingly prompt and helpful at every stage.
Beware: They lied about the denial of waiver of $700. Fee to the city and tried to get me to pay them the extra fee. Located in the Mission District. This company pulled a couple slippery moves on me i think because they knew i was in Texas at the time i had to make the arrangements. They must have thought i would not double check on their actions. Once they told me my request was denied, i drove 2 days directly to the city medical examiners office to check on the denial of my request for waiver of the $700 paymment to the city. The City Medical Examiner office told me, that fee was already waived a couple days ago. (the day it was submitted and it was not resubmitted). it was the day before that the College Chapel Mortuary told me the fee waiver was denied and that i must pay the Mortuary directly the $700 before they will release my Brothers ashed to me. When i called to confront them i was told they resubmitted the same day i got approval. That was a lie as per the convesation with the city. Lesson: do not entrust the Mortuary to handle the fee waiver form submission which they claim to take care of forbyou as a free service. Unethical Business.Update: We had the remains reviewed by crematorium in TX. There are a lot of blue Jean buttons and other items in our family members ashes that equate to an estimated 5 pairs of blue jeans. Our deceased family member was wearing his pajama pants upon death. His body sat for several days before discovery. .... this confirming we were given random people’s ashes. Whether the ashes have his remains or not we cannot conclude but we doubt it.Spare your family and just go down the road, sadly this company’s act of care is proving to be a facade for our family. This rebuttal given is an attempt to mutter the truth of facts we experienced and holds not weight. Shameful.
