Did not want to get a haircut, but circumstances dictated otherwise. Walked from the Residence Inn downtown, so about a mile and a half. Would walk from my home in Florida I wanted to get my hair cut again. Shelby did an amazing job, and made the best of a less than ideal situation.

I didnt catch the name of the young man that helped me, but he was great! Very detail oriented. Asked a lot of questions so I got exactly what wanted. I left my sunglasses and he ran half the block away to catch me! If I lived here, I would be back often. Outstanding!

This is my 3rd appointment I’ve had with Jake and every time he has been great. He’s very detailed oriented and informative with product and styling tips. He’s always conversational and always has funny stories to tell. The barbershop itself is clean and well designed and is within a larger building with other cool stores and a cafe. The location is easy to get to and parking is very easy and right in front of the shop. If you need a great haircut I highly recommend scheduling your appointment with Jake. You won’t be disappointed.

First time EVER getting highlights in a Barber Shop🥰

I have been exclusively going to David for a cut for about seven years. Prior to finding him I went from place to place ready to settle in with anyone who really understood and knew how to properly cut mens hair. Believe me, SD is not NYC! Prior to moving here, I faithfully followed Jean-Claude Beguin from Paris to Miami. After about five years of hunting I found David. Ill never leave.

I was a little nervous at first when my girlfriend told me she surprised me with a haircut from an apprentice barber but it just goes to show that title doesnt mean anything. Jake is not only great for hair but for beards as well which is rare in my experience. Im amazed what a guy who is only 22 can do. As long as I am in San Diego, I will be going to see Jake. I recommend you do too. Great vibes in there and the rest of the staff are very chill.

Decided to grow my first real beard at 51 years old. I let it grow for 12 weeks then went in for a trim. I was really concerned about choosing a good barber. If you have grown a beard you know exactly what I mean. It takes patience and commitment and one bad trim can have you starting all over. Well, Dave O. at Urban Shave was great! We discussed what I wanted and I left most of it up to his judgement. I could not be happier with how it turned out. He has a great eye for beard shaping. Really professional and knowledgeable. Overall very good experience. Ill be back in two months.

First time ever getting a professional shave. It was a bit of a rocky start honestly. You have to make your appointment online and choose the best option that fits your needs (haircut + shave, shave only, beard trim, mustache trim) but they were missing what I actually needed which was mustache trim + shave. They give you a notes section but the employees kind of forgot to check that part which resulted in some time wasted and they were pretty booked for the day I went which only added to the frustration.Needless to say, David took good care of me. When they realized the mistake that went down (snowball effect for other customers) he gladly took care of me. Thats why they get 5 stars! The Customer Service was excellent. David offered to buy me a coffee while I wait for the next slot to get what I needed. That was nice of him. I believe he is the owner. He valued a good 1st time experience and found a compromise.NOTE: Come early, Little Italy is very hard to find parking. Dont expect them to wait on you, theyll bump you pretty fast. Do yourself a favor and come early. Have a latte while you wait!Once I sat down he took good care of me. Making sure my sensitive skin didnt irritate too much. It did anyway, but thats hardly his fault. The precision was delicate and he was very accommodating.Points for the place being swanky too. A little bit of everything in that hipster warehouse. So definitely worth a try.Im not sure if $35-$45 is a good price or not but you can always get a gift card for a friend or something in that nature.

55 dollars for a mediocre haircut by an apprentice barber who would rather play 22 questions than focus on giving me a haircut, which led to it taking an hour(I even skipped the wash) and was late to meeting my friend. But oh well. $55 lesson dont go here

Love Urban Shave. I have a long beard and have been going to Matti Cole for a while now. He works wonders. A must go place for a real barbershop.

David (the owner) and Corey (his former apprentice) both have amazing hands for a straight razor shave. Go for the full Urban Gentleman treatment (cut, exfoliation, and hot towel shave) for a wonderful experience.I can not recommend this place strongly enough. The place was clean, staff was friendly and down to earth, and had an awesome conversation with Jake. He was friendly, energetic, and has definitely won a client.This particular visit was important to be because it was my first real cut since I grew out my beard a year ago.

I have been a customer for nearly eight years. David actually knows how to cut and always excells at customer service. When I first moved to San Diego, I was depressed by cut after cut from people who ether should have received better training or just knew better. Fortunately, I found David.
