My family really appreciates the amazing courtesy we received from our new friend and maintenance guy - Steve Villari! He is so sweet and helpful to us. He actually helped my husband and daughter a couple of weeks with the Recycling Bins because they are too heavy to lift. Hes such a wonderful staff member here at The Villas of Renaissance. Now we know who to reach out to in case of any questions we might have about anything around here as we are still settling in San Diego and getting to know more people. Steve is really a Gods send!

This place keep doing constructions or building up/fixing something all the time and being annoying in the early morning till the afternoon. I can’t do my meeting at home during the daytime because of their constructions, and this place do have a good looking appearance but everything else is really awful. The fire alarm always went off at early morning or midnight and the apartment won’t write an email to explain to you why.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from here. My gf and I haven’t been able to sleep well for weeks. Thanks to their non-existent wall sound insulation and their management team. We reached out to Marco from Irvine company who promised will looking into this issue. Ended up fixing nothing. The 2am noise is still there and getting louder. We’ve literally got mentally destroyed by lack of sleep. Which directly caused low productivity at work. It’s not an advise, but a warning. PLEASE think twice if you want to live here.

The staff named Emily Misewicz is awful.. I have been living in the apartment for 6 years, and was deducted huge amount from deposit when move out. We live on first floor where there is watering system outside our apartment all day, which makes our apartment very easy to get Moldy, VOR is letting us to take full responsibility for all moldy in the apartment?? Besides that, Emily told me Patio is the reason they charged the drywall repair fee, but then she noticed our patio is so clean and she did not have evidence on why they need to charge us on patio. She changed her word to be “Bathroom” is now the reason. 🙄 What an awful employee, and awful apartment. Don’t live in this apartment at all, that’s my best advice for you

If you enjoy privacy, sleep, and the ability to keep your money, stay away from this apartment. I’ve moved around 3 buildings in this complex and is still disturbed by constant construction and *annual* fire alarm testing that actually happens monthly. And oh, it’s not only the fire alarms in the hallway that goes off, they also triggers the fire alarm in your BEDROOM. And the person who gave the other review about construction is correct, they always lie about the severity of the construction, if you confront them afterwards they’ll blame you for not reading the fine prints on the lease. Don’t bother reaching out to them neither, if you complain about the construction they’ll offer to transfer you to a new building but you’ll have to pay $1000 transfer fee along with the condition of renewing your leasing contract.

Zero stars is my vote **If you enjoy sleep, nice staff, and honest answers to your questions, dont live here. I havent slept in months because there is construction inside my apartment, outside the hallway of my apartment, and the patio/balcony of my apartment. And not quiet construction - straight up jack hammers and all kinds of loud power tools, it feels like living in the middle of a construction zone. Cannot work from home here, cannot take meetings, cannot sleep, cannot even open your windows because of the construction guys walking across the scaffolding in front of your bedroom windows and living room window. It begins early in the day 8AM and is not finished until 5PM. Management has lied to us multiple times regarding the severity of the work, the timelines of the work, and is not kind when we call about it. I miss sleep and I miss having a place to live that feels like home. This is not it. I am not usually an easily irritated or frustrated person - nor am I a complainer - so you know it is bad if I am saying these things. I have also never left a review for anyone before. Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra to live somewhere else - your sleep habits and professional life will thank you for it later.Literally the only good thing about this place is Jesus, the maintenance guy. Super kind, timely, professional, and gets the job done. Doesnt lie.Take my advice, dont live here. I cannot wait for my lease to be up. They will not be seeing me again.

I have never written a bad review but because my experience living at the villas of renaissance was so miserable from the first day to the very last, that I have to share my experience so no one else goes through this. !!ZERO STARS!!I have rented with Irvine Company before in Orange County and had the most amazing experience which is why I even signed a lease with the Villas of Renaissance thinking it would be great as well. But it was horrible from the very first day of move in, I moved into an apartment with dirty appliances, dirty bathroom (all during a pandemic) *SEE PICTURES*. After I told the leasing office, maintenance came to clean what they could. My first night I noticed there were flies around the apartment, I assumed they were coming in through the broken balcony door which could not be fixed by maintenance, So I had to keep my balcony door closed at all times. Then I noticed that the flies were still around which was extremely frustrating because all doors and windows were closed at all times. Then I noticed that there were bugs coming out of the carpet (which was extremely gross and uncomfortable) these were centipedes and spiders!! I told the leasing office about it and they tried to use pest control but that did not work. They did not care to solve the issue and told me it was normal and mother nature. Since when is it normal to see insects inside an apartment on a daily basis? Because they did not do ANYTHING to help me, I took matters into my own hands and had to put insect traps all around my apartment which I switched every night because by morning the traps had caught multiple insects. (SEE PICTURES). I was living in an infested apartment and the leasing office did not care to help me in anyway. The leasing staff is rude and could care less about you after you sign that lease. I broke my lease after 5 months of living there because it was uninhabitable. && be ready to see and step in dog poop as it is all around the apartment complex, nobody cleans after it, not even the owners!! the complex constantly smells either like dog poop/pee or weed! Absolutely disgusting.NEVER recommending this horrible place to anyone!

Just had an good maintenance experience at the Villas of Renaissance. This morning when I went to use one of the two kitchen sinks, they both suddenly backed up, with dirty water. I first tried their automated phone attendant system, which told me this was not an emergency situation, and after struggling to get the nice automated lady to understand what my problem was -- she never did... I guess they just programmed their system with Artificial Semi-Intelligence... I clicked through to get a person. Kevin in the office came on, and was great. He took down the details, and assured me this WAS an urgent situation. Jesus on the Maintenance staff came out shortly after that, could quickly see that the problem was outside my apartment, probably caused by someone upstairs from me having put the wrong stuff down their disposal unit. He fixed it, came back and tested it to be sure the issues were all resolved. I really appreciated his clear-thinking, dedication and efficiency. The Maint staff here has always been superior, and they have a winner in Jesus -- glad to have gotten him!

I love this complex! I have lived at The Villas with my fiancé for two years and have lived in three different apartments in this complex. We moved the first time because we wanted an apartment with hard floor for our dog. Then we moved the second time for a bigger apartment. Every transfer and move in has been so smooth. The leasing office is exceptional! They are friendly, helpful, professional, efficient- the list goes on! Maria and Megan have been particularly helpful to us in these moves. I have loved every apartment, especially with the great new appliances and perfect paint jobs. Another great thing about living here is the landscaping and facilities. The whole complex always looks beautiful and you feel like you live at a garden club. The pools are always well maintained. There is now a new outdoor grilling area with four big sections that each have flat screen TVs, tables, couches, and grills. That has been wonderful to use as a safe social distance grilling time during this time. One more great part about living here is the maintenance staff. They are so friendly and if we ever have any issue in our apartment (toilet clogged, window screen broken, etc) they set up appointments so quickly and come fix whatever the issue is efficiently. I must specifically point out Jesus because I see him around the complex and he is always so friendly! He recently helped repair our AC unit, as it had a slight leak. He is professional and friendly and a very hard worker! You can’t ask for a better staff than here! I’ve visited lots of apartments in the area and this is hands down the best place. If you want a complex that is safe, beautiful to walk around, full of friendly staff, full of nice neighbors, and excellent apartments, then this is it. I’ll admit, it’s pricey, but you certainly get what you pay for and more.Happy to live here for more years to come!

The absolute worst place to live in UTC. They are snake oil salesmen who show you a nice place but then don’t fix anything that goes wrong after that. Broken window latch when moving in was never fixed, dryer has never worked correctly and after a 6 weeks it does not work, like at all. They’ve “fixed it” like 5 times and it still won’t even dry clothes that have been in the dryer overnight continuously. Not to mention there are regular break ins and theft of bikes but they don’t do anything about it and say it’s your fault for parking in their facility... where you live... to be honest it would be worth having a litigation attorney on retainer before moving into this place because you’re going to have to fight for even a shred of decency from these terrible people. I’d rather live under a bridge then renew a contract with this complex.

So many car break ins! Save your money, youll be spending it on vehicle repairs. This is not a safe complex and you will be locked into your lease regardless of the dollar amount of damage done to your vehicle, even if the break ins have happened on more than one occasion on Renaissance property. Also if you work nightshift, dont waste your time. Between road noise and college kids, you wont be getting sleep. Look elsewhere.

Car break-ins and stolen cars is common occurrence at this complex. The garage complex gates are often broken and left wide open. They do not inform the tenants or increase security patrol. They will tell you that they’ll make a recommendation to increase security, but take no action in keeping their tenants informed or expediting the fix on the broken gate. They also do not have cameras in certain parts of the garage. If you enjoy living in a what feels like a college dorm with lots of college students.... good luck. One positive - they are fiber internet ready if you don’t like dealing with subpar cable internet providers. Breakins happen, but the office management doesn’t seem to care.

First l like to state that the staff at this apartment complex except the community manager, Gloria Mendez, were very pleasant to work with. However, the apartment charges for unnecessary fees after move out. When I tried to resolve my disputes with Gloria, the only response I get is that theyre standard and done accordingly within the law. Even after referencing the CA civil code 1950.5, CA and SDCAA tenant guidebooks and pointing out that she broke an agreement in our contract, she refuses to acknowledge.Save yourself the headache and do not rent from this apartment complex. Please do not respond to this review unless you are from corporate and NOT VOR.My response to the reply from the VOR team:Gloria, you still dont read the entire content of the message. I said dont respond unless youre from corporate. Dont act like we resolved anything. You didnt give me my pre-move-out inspection as I requested in my Notice to Vacant Notice Agreement. You obviously violated the CA Civil Code 1950.5 (f):(f) (1) Within a reasonable time after notification of either party’s intention to terminate the tenancy, or before the end of the lease term, the landlord shall notify the tenant in writing of the tenant’s option to request an initial inspection and of the tenant’s right to be present at the inspection. The requirements of this subdivision do not apply when the tenancy is terminated pursuant to subdivision (2), (3), or (4) of Section 1161 of the Code of Civil Procedure. At a reasonable time, but no earlier than two weeks before the termination or the end of lease date, the landlord, or an agent of the landlord, shall, upon the request of the tenant, make an initial inspection of the premises prior to any final inspection the landlord makes after the tenant has vacated the premises. The purpose of the initial inspection shall be to allow the tenant an opportunity to remedy identified deficiencies, in a manner consistent with the rights and obligations of the parties under the rental agreement, in order to avoid deductions from the security...But no matter how many times I tell you that fact, you IGNORE it. So please dont put up a show for the public and act like you care or youre willing to hear me out. All you do is ignore my emails and tell me you did everything within the law. Dont worry I havent forgotten about our unsettled problems and youll be hearing from me soon.

Ive lived at the Villas for 3.5 years, and I absolutely love it! The amenities are great, although they are under remodel at this present time. My favorite part of living here is the worry free environment. If something is not functioning properly or simply broken, you can submit a maintenance request online and they usually fix the issue within the same day, or worst case, by the next day. The maintenance team is very responsive, friendly and always there to help. Ive come to know several of the maintenance technicians, who always offer a friendly Hello every time we meet. Jesus always does a great job to help me with my maintenance requests, and if for any reason he is not available, hell send another co-worker who I am also familiar with. Its nice to know these friendly folks are available to help, and I really appreciate their friendly charisma. There is an added sense of security to knowing the crew. Its much better then having a different stranger enter your home each time, which could really be uncomfortable for some people! The place is very pretty, but the rent is absurdly high and will increase by $100 a month every year if you renew. It’s close to campus, and boasts a shuttle service, but the convenience of a 10 minute drive frequently becomes an hour long wait because they are too cheap to upgrade the service for the amount of students taking the shuttle. Add in $800 a year if you want to drive to campus. Or a couple hundred in lyft/uber if you want to get to class in the morning without a car.Pretty good pool areas, grills, hot tub etc.

Terrible Experience. Avoid this apartment at all costs. If there is a zero star rating, I will go for it.At first glance, you may think this is a rather nice place. It is. In fact the lease office is one of the most eye-catching place and their salesman are so nice and gentle when you come here to talk about the deal.Things can turn really bad after you move in. All the policies are non-negotiable and their service can be bad as well. This is our last month of lease and they called us to pay the rent via post office simply because they have problems for their online system. Jesus, who pay rent via post office this days. I brought the check on time on the date before the due date and they told me there is gonna be a late fee because the check via mail may not arrive on time. I told them if they can call their co-workers to waiver the late fee and they refused. This is unreasonable and we did pay on time for Gods sake. When I mentioned why we pay the late fee because the online payment system is not working? they explained because I have overdue payments previously...Seriously, I am a student majoring in CS and I know how computer works. Go tell your tech guy to update the payment system instead of letting me pay the rent via mail and charge me a late fee.Cant imagine a big company like this let costumer pay for the mistakes they made.In other words, we are doing a favor here to personally go to the bank and mail the check. not mention the mail fee...They still charge you the late fee without any reasoning.Things like this happens all the time during the lease and their maintenance are slow as well. This place is a hell hole. The management staff in the leasing office are irresponsible, arrogant and rude. They only care about potential residents rather than current residents. Also, the Irvine company only cares about the outer appearance of the community and the apartments, which helps them attract more potential residents, but they never really care about the tenants who have already lived here. The renovation thing has been going on for a really long time. They said they renovated the community for our benefit, but it actually has caused me a lot of troubles. They repainted the door to my apartment and the outer wall, but at the same time, they sealed the windows, causing my apartment to be filled with a weird smell. I also got white paint on my bag because there was no caution sign where the wet paint was.The temperature has risen to almost 93 degrees recently, and the air conditioner doesnt work in my apartment. I have lived in this hot mess for three days. Today I called the leasing office, and one of the officers said the workers would fix the AC by the end of today. I waited in the apartment for the entire day, but no one ever came. I almost got a heatstroke. I just hope that the staff in the leasing office could be more responsible for what they say.The shuttle service used to be free for residents, but afterwards they decided to charge us for the shuttle pass and $45 every time we lose it. After the second time I lost my shuttle pass, I was not allowed to buy another one. The manager told me that looks like someone else gets to use that pass. I was like.... WHAT?! I AM the resident here, and I cannot use the shuttle service here even after I pay for the shuttle pass and such a high rent. Overall, I have had a really BAD experience living here, at VILLAS OF RENAISSANCE.

Theres still a movie night and they get in a food truck. But havent seen a cooking class, barbecue, art class, etc in months. They have started renovating apartments when people move out, so suddenly there is banging and huge truck traffic and cranes every day that wasnt there before. They renovated the apartment above us, and after going through the massive noise for a few weeks and being woken up by pounding over our heads many times, one of the workers hit a pipe upstairs and our apartment flooded. They put us up in the Residence Inn for three weeks while fixing our apartment. The lease says equal accommodations in situations like this. We are in a 2 bed/ 2 bath. We got a studio. We had to argue with them to get a 2 bed/ 2 bath room at the Residence Inn. Eventually they agreed and we got one after 5 days. But we already were inconvenienced by the flood- it was an unnecessary hassle to have to fight for what we deserved. We asked for compensation for the inconvenience of having to be relocated from our apartment and moving for 3 weeks (during exam time). They said no. After an argument, they said they would review the situation and get back to us with what, if anything, they could do for us. We have not heard anything to date. We still think it would have been the right thing for them to not charge us for the whole time we were evacuated from our apartment due to the negligence of their hired workers. But they think making us pack and move to the Residence Inn was good enough compensation. It was so inconvenient not to be able to access all our stuff and we had to pack, move. Then unpack, move (to studio apartment). Then pack, move and unpack to 2 bedroom apartment at Residence Inn. Then pack and move back again, and then unpack three weeks of clothes and food when we returned. We also asked if, since we had to move for three weeks, they could renovate our apartment with the upgrades like they were doing with the empty apartments. They refused and put in the old carpets, (crooked in some places) old tile, and painted half our ceiling the slightly wrong color from the rest of the ceiling, claiming it was like that before but it wasnt. And here is the best part - a month after we returned we noticed our neighbors apartment getting a lot of work done even though she hadnt moved out. Two weeks after that, we saw black mold and little fungus growing on the carpet in the master closet. There was a leak in the wall that flooded her apartment. The wall that is shared with our apartment. They didnt bother to check the wall on our side when this occurred and so the mold happened. This time we didnt have to move. We had to unpack the entire closet once again, and put our clothes and shoes in piles around the apartment then live through workers coming in, taking the wall apart, having blowers for a few days, coming back to fix the wall and carpet, etc.We have such a lovely little apartment and love the location. I just wish things would go back to how they were during our first lease, when it was quiet and not in need of constant repair due to their renovations and damages caused by work on other apartments.

TL;DRPros-theres shuttle to campus-calm, cool, peaceful most of the time-lots of parking-easy to get an apartment as a studentCons-you wont catch the shuttle and will have to find another way home after 6pm-shuttle driver drives dangerously-definitely overpriced, and they raise rent substantially every year-staff is polite, but genuinely do not care about youThis place isnt too bad, but its not worth the money. We were very disappointed that the amenities were closed for construction literally the day we moved in. No one told us this ahead of time, and of course, we did not receive a discount on our rent, or ANY communication about it beforehand. It was closed for 9 months. No one informed me of the 24-hour fitness discount some of you mention. When they opened it back up, the only change was a paint job and new furniture. THAT took 9 months!? We are students and take the shuttle to campus, but the younger shuttle driver drives while watching YouTube. He regularly runs red lights and I dont feel safe in his van. On top of that, the last shuttle leaves school at 8pm, but theres so many students trying to get home then that you have to get there an hour ahead of time for any chance to get home. 5 days a week I call a Lyft or Triton Ride to take me home. Its exhausting.Courtesy Patrol has been receptive anytime Ive called them, which is great. Maintenance is quick about coming into your apartment, but they rarely actually fix anything. It took 5 requests and visits for them to replace our front door knob because it kept falling off. I had to talk to the office about it for it to get fixed.Sometimes the maintenance men are playing with remote control car in the garage. It is a peaceful area in the building Im in. The apartments dont get too hot in the summer. Patrol has been great when weve had noise problems. But overall, this place is way too expensive for what were getting, and they upped our rent next year by $200. Were looking into other options.

Though we had the gym and the main pool close for 6 months still on going while we were there, no communication on this what so ever, and there were still showing peaple round to rent and buy, not telling them of this major construction about to happen. Until this day facilitys were great, though communication from staff, very poor.

I love Villas. Its an awesome community and has really nice facilities but with some fatal flaws. My roommates and I have come to call it the Villas of Moldaissance because weve gotten mold TWICE in the past 6 months, totalling in about one whole month spent at a hotel. I will give them credit though, they did a very good job taking care of us and paid for pretty much everything throughout the process. Shoutout to Alphonso! Still such a pain though. If it werent for the the mold, I might consider Villas one of the best apt complexes in La Jolla!

We stayed 2 years in a 2 bedroom apartment. We just moved out. The community is very noisy during the day with always works all aroind it (painting etc). Our rent increased of more than 400 dollars in 2 years. And for what? During our second year there, the main pool closed as well as the gym. The pool was supposed to be closed for 8 months but its been almost a year. Not surprising when they just started working on it 2 months ago. There use to be cooking lessons, Xmas diner paty, easter egg hunt... All of that is gone. In conclusion you pay more for services that are really getting way worse. Only good point: the maintenance team is great and very responsive!

Well the landscaping is beautifully kept but otherwise overpriced units catering to UCSD International Students. Shuttle doesnt go anywhere but UCSD.My bike was stolen, locked, behind the garage gate, in front of security camera, Amazon packages stolen from front door - this does not qualify as a gated community.I would say if the property could ensure it residents security, lower prices to fit the unit quality, and add a few more ammenities they could reach 4 or 5 stars.

I’ll try to give a review as objective as possible and I hope it’ll help people decide whether the Villas will work for them or not.Pros:- Great and safe location next to parks and the UTC mall- 2 parking spots included in the rent is great and there is plenty of parking even for guests- Most of the staff is friendly- Apartments are quite spacious and niceCons:- Main pool and main office (with gym, business center and movie room) are closing for at least 8 months starting in October due to renovations. Not only will the great amenities be unavailable for an extended period of time, but it’ll bring a lot of dust and noise pollution- Too many renovations started a few months ago, there is always something else. They painted our building for 2 weeks, now they’ll be drilling and hammering in the building and the apartment to install fiber optic... On top of that apartments are also being renovated and with high turnover there is alway noise and dirt every other week.- Communication is definitely not the greatest, they tell you 2 days in advance that they will repaint building, do an inspection to install fiber optics, etc.- Walls are so thin, you can hear everything- Property is poorly run with no consideration for current residents- Rent increase is higher than other places- No sense of community. No more events, no communication on how the pool and main office will be after renovation, nothing really done to compensate the loss of almost all amenities apart from a temporary gym membership)Subjectively, I would not recommend even considering this place until they finish the main renovation. Realistically, it’ll probably take more than 8 months, so not before summer 2019. We really liked the place at first, but as other reviews say, the quality of life has gone down hill in the past few months with all the renovations going on and nothing has been done to compensate current residents. They always start their communication with “Dear Valued Resident”, I wish they actually meant it. I’ll update if things changes.

We moved into this apartment about 4 months ago. There has been an ongoing renovation and it will not be done for another year. This complex is renovating every single unit as they become vacant. The leasing office did not inform us about this upcoming project when we signed up. Before you sign the lease, WALK in various units to see how loud these noises are. You wont be able to have peace in your own home. And more importantly, dont fall for the sweet talk of the management/leasing office. Their job is to sale and receive bonus.I have even contacted the management office several times for a resolution. I even asked for a monthly discount on our rent due to these horrible living circumstances. They have all been rejected. The office stated it is above their paycheck and the corporate will not reduce rent. STAY AWAY and DO YOUR RESEARCH before signing the lease.

Nice complex but BEWARE OF SHADY PRICING. Weve been here less than a year and our first lease renewal is 9% higher than our current rent. For all the options in the UTC area, I would never recommend anyone else live here. When they were good, they were fine. But when there were major issues with our apartment leaking water, they were absolutely horrid. They acted like they were being generous by finally transferring us, when we had to take months of construction for a never ending mismanaged flooding issue. They make a residence with systemic problems look very shiny on the outside. Dont be fooled, look some place else.

Dont live here because you got impressed by the gardens and how nice the people from leasing office are when you came, because that will not be it. Me and my roommate came last year and we took a tour around and was deciding whether we should live here or not. After looking at several apt, our consultant showed us the last one saying that this is a 10 month lease apt, which we ends up signing contract with. We had paper and emails proving that our deal was this is a 10 month lease, but without giving any notice, they changed it into a 12 month lease in our contract (we had no idea when and how it was changed.) when we found out this error we went to the resident office thinking maybe they just made a mistake and they should gladly fix it for us. BUT THEY REFUSE TO ANSWER OUR QUESTION AND SAID TO US WHATS ON THE CONTRACT IS WHAT IS IT NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. LIKE WHAT KIND OF COMPANY IS THIS?? REFUSING TO LOOK LIKE ALL OUR EVIDENCE??? YEH U GUYS PLAYED WELL . Also they told us we had the choice of choosing to sign a 10/12/14 months lease before we sign, BUT NO ONE EVER MENTIONED THIS TO US WHEN WE WERE MAKING THE CHOICE

I would rather give a zero but I cannot. I have to admit that it looks nice on the outside, and representatives treat people really good when you first come. After that, it became a disaster. I reported paint lost on my tub and closet. Not a single time they sent one staff to even have a look at it during my whole renting period. They are so economical that they dont even have the windows soundproofing at the condos facing the main Street. Worst of all, They give people a low estimate on cleaning first and later when you have moved out, charge times more than it. they will make money on you even when you are moving out.

Deceptive charges added at the conclusion of the lease. I knew they were going to clean the apartment and carpets and it would basically wipe out my security deposit. Its in the lease, I was prepared for that. What I dont agree with is being charged close to $200 to have the entire place repainted for absolutely no reason. No holes/marks were left on the walls. They were in absolutely fine condition. Yet theyre going to paint it anyway, charge me for it, and Im basically screwed into paying it if I dont want to take a ding on my credit. Paid upwards of $2600/month for a dinky 2 bedroom and they still have to milk me.First and last time I use Irvine Company.

Im not even completely sure where to begin with this review, but I guess its probably easiest to give you the short of it and tell you simply to consider living somewhere else.Initially, we loved the Villas of Renaissance so much when we toured it that we didnt even consider anywhere else- the leasing agent was incredible, and we were blown away by the amenities she showed us that were beyond compare: a huge, extensive gym with free yoga classes and a dance room, a library and business center with free coffee, a theater, and four pools and jacuzzis. Seemed like a dream- until they got us to ink the lease without any prior warning that wed only have access to those amenities for 4 of the 11 months of our lease term before they would be shut down for eight months (or longer, by the looks of the current progress) of renovations. Their solution? Keep the rent the same for all of us even though we no longer had access to these incredible features we were initially promised and paying a high premium for, and instead offer discounted membership rates at 24 Hour Fitness. Also, they most definitely knew that the renovations were going to occur back when we we toured, so why they neglected to mention that before we signed is beyond me.MAJOR CONS- By far the biggest con we had to deal with while living at the Villas of Renaissance (and if you read nothing else, read this): black and green mold, which we found on our mattress.Im glad we were able to clean the mold off the rest of our possessions that were affected, but the response we received from management regarding the mattress and the whole situation was minimal. The emails I sent to the general Irvine Company address were ignored with the exception of the first one I sent.-An armed robbery occurred close to us on the property in March 2019- two days afterwards, we received a notice that security would increase in response, but I never saw a security guard from that point on until we moved out mid-April.-A person who was homeless slept in the underground garage that we parked in (he left after I told the office, though)- Maintenance always found continuous reasons to enter our unit to conduct various inspections, often with just a weeks notice that these inspections would be happening-At least two residents with dogs occupied our non-dog building- one dog in particular would pee in the open courtyard outside of our apartment on at least a weekly basis, and my husband would go out there with a bucket to wash it down.LESS MAJOR CONS-The concrete hallways were rarely cleaned or powerwashed, if ever, and trash would be left for days in the hallways before it would be removed- We could hear the residents who lived above us stomp around, flush their toilet/turn on the shower, listen to Taylor Swift while getting ready in the morning (I could even tell you the names of the exact songs I could hear through the bathroom air vents), and get in screaming fights with eachother until they eventually moved out- The wood floors and tiled baths eventually began to visibly age, even though we were the first tenants to occupy our unit post-renovation- The air conditioning was incredibly difficult to use, and rarely worked- I called maintenance three times for help with it, and even they couldnt figure it out so they decided to replace the unit in the ceiling entirely, and it still never functioned properlyPROS- Lived within walking distance of my job, a beautiful park, an amazing shopping mall and restaurant area- Maintenance team was always responsive, kind, and caring- The community events were fun/nice back when they existed- Move-out was pretty painless- got charged for the standard $150ish apartment cleaning fee and received a little bit of money back from our deposit, which was niceOverall, I would stay away from this place-- by the time we had moved out, almost everyone on our wing of the hallway were already long gone.

Weve lived at quite a few different places and Ive got to say this has been by far our best experience. Im a firm believer of you get what you pay for. Maintenence staff has been prompt, understanding, and consistent. Frank has been extremely helpful when it comes to minor handy man jobs around the apartment. Its really convenient that Maintenence is available on the weekends because I work Monday through Friday. At our previous complex if you had an issue on Friday you would have to hope someone addressed it on Monday if your lucky Tuesday. I dont think people understand how busy this staff can get. At the end of the day if you treat people the way you want to be treated everything kind of takes care of itself. With that being said I would recommend living here to anyone and that includes my family and friends.Regards,Current resident: Eric Rodriguez

Its hard to believe this place is still in business. They have terrible customer service and terrible management. The employees of this company are all arrogant and have an attitude everytime you interact with them. They act like they are doing you a favor, when in reality we are paying top dollar to live in this subpar apartment complex. They are pretty far from providing a good rental experience here. They dont really care about keeping tenants happy and they focus more on finding new ones, than keeping the ones they already have happy. They handle noise complaints poorly, and never follow up with you on anything you ask of them.I feel like a sucker living in this place after 3 yeas paying top dollar for being treated as a criminal for having a paid rent only twice just a few days late. When you first come in, they treat you nice but once you move in, the nightmare begins. The place looks nice on the outside only and the facilities are nothing more than expected for the price you pay to live here.I will never recommend this place to anyone and I will never rent another apartment from the Irvine company ever again.

UPDATED 12/10/18VOR has been one of the most stressful, unattractive, and unaccommodating apartment complexes Ive ever lived in-- and I lived in overflow on-campus housing for six months. The staff was nice when we were signing the lease, but when we had additional questions afterwards the staff was condescending and rude. When you cater to college students, questions like How can I set up an access code? and where is the recycling drop off? should not prompt an eyeroll. The amenities were great-- for the four months we were able to enjoy them. We feel as if the woman who we signed our lease misrepresented the scale of the construction on the leasing office and pool, she made it sound like they were going to paint the walls and maybe knock a wall down. Imagine my surprise when the entire front half of the complex was removed and we were forced to take alternative routes to and from our apartment. I love that the alternative that we were given was the 24 hour fitness, a ten minute walk from the complex. Im also a huge fan of the unsafe usage of large construction equipment on the sidewalks with no way to avoid going around them, I really feel like Im coming home. We were also promised a shuttle that could take us to and from campus, this alongside the amenites were deciding factors in us signing the lease. Once the school year started the lines for the shuttle were so long that we were often late for class and waiting upwards of half an hour to board the shuttle. Why would you offer a service for an additional fee to so many students without the resources to actually provide the service? This apartment complex is expensive, and we were willing to pay the expense because of the amenities and services. Amenities and services that did not actually exist.UPDATE 12/10/18- Today I received a call from a representative of the apartment complex. She assured me that I would benefit from the construction at the complex in the long run and that the VOR does its best to alert residents of any upcoming renovations, she apologized for any misrepresentation during the tour stating that miscommunications do occur when large groups are given tours (?). She made no mention about the unsafe construction equipment, the accessibility issues, nor the rudeness of the staff. I asked her if she could do anything within the next 6 months to make my roommates and I not regret signing the lease, she said no. I am still unsure of the point of this phone call.
