This is the worst apartment living experience Ive ever had. I live in Oceanside in the Elan Village North apartments. The manager (Candi) is absolutely wretched. Everyone in the apartment complex has complained about this woman and they do nothing about her. She harasses you, tells other tenants your PERSONAL information and business to create chaos... I dont know how they continue to allow this. Good thing Im in law school and becoming a lawyer... Im going to sue them for harassment. The apartments have no water pressure. Their fixtures and appliances are cheap. The plumbing backs up CONSTANTLY and doesnt ever drain. Ive spent more money on drain-o living here, than I ever have in my life. I will be moving AS SOON as my lease is up. I dont care how close to the beach or shopping it is... the buildings are not taken care of and the management is horrible. Ive also seen cockroaches on numerous occasions. Ive bug sprayed my apartment multiple times to prevent them. Honestly, no one should live here. During this pandemic theyve been evicting people left and right and NOT abiding by state and local laws. They dont care about their tenants at all and it shows. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.
Shady company. Be wary of any lease you sign with them. They will twist the lease to say they are giving you a discount each month even though you are paying the advertised price. For example, you see an apartment listed for 2k/month and move forward with them. They will put in the lease that the property is 2400/month with a $400 discount each month. They do this, so that if you chose to renew after a year they can raise your rent more than the law allows. If you truely do get a good deal they may be worth it for one year but expect horrible customer service and lack of communication and factor into your cost that you wont get your security deposit back. For customer service they love to say they called you back when they didnt. They repeatedly had my phone number in my file incorrect so they always called a number but one that wasnt me.They also send your security deposit to the apartment you rented from them after you move out. Let that sink in. Imagine you move out, and they send the security deposit to your apartment you just moved out of. Now they can legally say they sent the security deposit but obviously since you dont live there you have no way of receiving it and cashing it. They will probably comment on this review and say that if you dont provide them a forwarding address they use the address on file, but I scanned all my documents I gave to them and I gave them one with my new forwarding address. They still sent the security deposit to the apartment I moved out of. It took me 11 months to receive my security deposit because I called them bi weekly during that time.To summarize: Only move in if it is a great deal, but factor in your security deposit as part of the cost of living there (sometimes they have a deal where you dont have to pay SD), only stay for a year, and dont expect any problems you have during the year to be resolved.
This company discriminates based on your income status. Shady company.
I lived in an apartment managed by PWR for a year. I had a very bad experience. The staff was terrible. The manager moved my roommate and I into an infested apartment. From the image I attached, you can see that our kitchen was completely infested with roaches (the tenants above were terribly messy). We dealt with this for 2 WHOLE MONTHS while constantly asking the manager to do something about it. They refused to allow us to switch to a different unit and they wouldnt even let us break our lease early without charging an early termination fee! During this whole ordeal, we tried calling the regional manager at PWR multiple times (and left voicemails) and never got a response. It seemed like they were actively avoiding us.So I did the following:1. Called the state health department and filed a complaint2. Met with a health inspector, showed him the unit, and had him declare the unit as infested3. Called an attorney to see what the next steps should be. He said we should leave the apartment and not pay an early termination fee since the complex was unable to fix the issue for two months. My roommate and I were worried about the potential legal issues wed have to deal with but we prepared ourselves to break the lease early. We were also worried about the apartment filing a negative comment on our credit.Right before we were about to order a U-Haul the manager called us (a new manager this time, they cycle through one every other month) and she said they were able to get the neighbors above us to move out. My roommate and I were suspicious but we took the risk and decided not to break the lease. Turns out, the neighbors above left and the infestation cleared up.Save yourself the trouble and find an apartment managed by a more reputable company.
I like working here. I work and live on the property and its so great for my family. all of the managers and corporate office is helpful and the owner is kind. This type of job isnt for those who are sensitive though. You have to care about your job and the quality you are providing to your residents at the community you are in. They notice when you work hard and are doing your best and yes they push you to work harder because property management is the type of fast paced business that you need to work really hard in. I noticed a lot of bad reviews when I was called in for an interview. I was nervous but I told myself to take a chance any way and Im so glad I did. Working within the company there are so many happy employees here that have things to teach you, especially someone like me thats only been in property management for 3 years. This is the most challenging but most rewarding place I have ever worked. Also I live on one of the properties (not in a community that I work in) and I love it. Its called Elan Milano. The residents are great, its well taken care of, and It comes with a garage and a parking spot which anyone who lives in an apartment complex knows a good parking situation is hard to find. The point of this review is to say try it out for yourself and write a review. We have to over shadow all these negative reviews because this place is great and those who are looking into it should see that.
They will not send me my deposit back. I have a statement from them saying what they owe me. I have been reaching out to them for the past 4 months and they will not return my phone call or emails.Update: it has now been 8 months I follow up monthly and still have yet to receive deposit. BBB has tried to contact them and they also will not respond to BBB. Avoid this company at all costs.
Seriously. Avoid all properties managed by them and under the Elán brand. You wont see your security deposit check after you move out and they will not answer calls. Shady company.
I live in a house managed by property west/elan, and they are the ABSOLUTE WORST. The house and surrounding structures are falling apart, the maintenance team is unresponsive, the on site property manager continues to pass the buck and ignore every request that’s made, and continues to leave my family in an unsafe situations. And when things are “repaired” they’re done poorly.
This company is the worst. Our unit is falling apart and they havnt done anything. They fix half of something then say theyll come back after the parts come in yet never come back.cops are here every few days. I could go on and on about what weve had to deal with here as a good resident who pays every month for the last 20 plus years...do not rent from this horrible company!! Go anywhere else besides their locations! Save yourself the serious headaches.
Stay far far away! Customer Service is non-existent . My family member recently passed away, he had been there for 15 yrs. While were loading his furniture into the car a parking lot light post fell on us and the cars. We were pretty banged up. The police and ambulance came. Today we contacted the corp office and spoke with Alexandra the Sr. Regional manager, she told me to call the residents insurance, i said he passed away, she still continued to say theres and active policy still and unless i give her the police report she wont provide their insurance comp name. I asked for fax number to provide police report and she still refused ins comp name. She was the nastiest person ive spoken to
As others have stated. I was charged at first an additional $564 to my July rent at the last minute saying the found charges to my account that where unpaid from the previous tenant I took the lease over from but when I asked for a copy of my ledger I found out that not only the $564 was invalid but also they had shorten my deposit from $1000 to $500. Shortly the $564 charge now became $267.I asked for a re-adjustment and to prove to me based on their payment records on the ledger how I owe this from September of 2017 in which they will not provide me with answers nor will they give me back the ledger that I had highlight with the errors.I’m to the point of getting a lawyer to fight this no matter if it cost me more. From my understanding it’s because they had a manager who was stealing from them and they seem to be charging tenants money they can’t find saying they owe money that seems to be the money that has been stolen.Do not rent from Elán vante in la Mesa which is owned by property west so is Elán lofts.Danielle the property manager of Elán Avante is dismissive and will deflect any question you ask about. She is very rude and will make it out as your a liar who should not ask question and just pay.I wish I never rented from this place at all. I complained about a neighbor numerous times to no avail and it just so happen that he went to jail for beating his wife half to death last night. The odd part of the story is the managers even have a restraining order against the guy because he’s a threat to them but seems like if he pays his rent his no danger to the rest of the tenants that live hereWhat a joke!!!
There’s better management companies you could rent for. There’s never managers on site.
I dont understand how these people are allowed to stay in business. They also hide their name and name their propertys Elan. If you want to read a full review look up Elan Beachpointe on yelp. In short this company will penny pinch you with charges and they dont take care of their propertys . They simply want your money and once they have it they dont care about you. They also do not have any property managers on site so people do w/e they want. smoke, party, work on cars, and leave trash/ dog poop all over the property. Complain and they will do nothing. Want to move out after your lease is up and they will destroy you with cleaning charges.
PLEASE PLEASE beware! Absolutely the worst property management Company I have ever workedfor. They do NOT care about their residents or resident retention. ALL they care about is their bonuses and NOT truly caring about a residents concerns. As an employee its even worse as a Manager I cared about MY residents but the Regional Managers and Regional Maintenance managers are incompetent and unprofessional. Its ALL about unethical business practices and because I advocated for MY residents and questioned their unethical business practices and was let go with NO CAUSE out of the blue after a promotion because I would advocate for what is right. I relocated my family to take this position and then a month after accepting and moving here they changed my portfolio like 6 times due to terrible corporate management. They have lost and/or let go of so many excellent employees because we are the ones who refuse to become corporate puppets and be treated disrespectful. The Corporate office and owner only care about$$ and cut corners and take care of the bare minimum for their residents. They talk a good talk and act like they care BUT trust me you will be treated poorly as a resident or employee. There are so many better prop mngmnt companies. DO NOT SETTLE and then regret it! Trust the reviews..they are here for a reason......Good luck but not with this place!
If Community manager Katherine Ortiz Reyes and the Judgment she exhibited is any indication of the quality of people that the company hires for management positions you would probably be safer as a homeless person on the street.Community manager Katherine Ortiz Reyes should be considered hazardous to your health. A clump of dirt has better judgement and common sense then Ms. Reyes. She literally put one of her own residents health and safety in jeopardy. Her actions on August 16 2016 at the 1515 South Melrose Vista Apartments could have cost a resident her life.I am a taxi cab driver and I was called to a residence apartment by the resident who needed a ride to the emergency room. When I arrived at the apartment the resident asked me if I could come upstairs and help her with her things. Upon finding no guest parking anywhere in the complex, I parked in the only available stalls directly adjacent to my customers apartment. It was simply marked For Future Residents. There were no warning signs indicating that your vehicle would be towed. However, after going to help my customer collect her things, and upon returning to the stall where my vehicle was parked, it had been towed. Consequently I was not able to get my customer to the emergency room. This situation could have been very serious or even cost the resident her life.I feel that Community manager Reyes used poor judgment in towing my vehicle in the middle of the afternoon. it was obvious that a vehicle such as mine was there doing business and not just taking up their parking stall. And I believe that the towing of my vehicle was completely inappropriate. There is a phone number on my vehicle that she could have called but did not even try. She jumped the gun in towing my vehicle and causing her tenant, my customer, an enormous amount of stress and anguish not to mention $225.00 for me for the towing bill and 4 hours of lost wages tracking down my vehicle and getting it back. When I went into the office to confront her she told the secretary that she was too busy to see me.If this is any indication of the people that this company hires as Community managers I would stay clear of Property West.P.S. I was told by another resident that there is a strong possibility that Ms. Reyes gets a $50 kickback from the towing company for each vehicle she has towed. Strong motivation indeed.
Felicita creek apts escondido .ca. By far the worse experience ive ever had in an apt. Complex they change managers every day theres no communication whats so ever managers are never there!!!work orders never get taken care of! The maintance superviser by the name of JUAN is always hitting on the tenants...including my wife and Iam honestly thinking of placing a lawsuit agaist them that is sexual harassment!!! Do not rent at any property west facilities!!!!
This place sucks. I tried to get in contact with them by calling and leaving a voicemail as well as sending an email and no reply. Because I had to deal with a horrible manager in charge of Elan Pointe Vista apartments. Left that place in one day because it’s NOT safe and management is terrible and useless!
Slum lords. They sell your data to third parties. They take advantage of limited rental market in the area. Pay for as little as possible then blame managers when it all goes bad.
Worst company to EVER work for or rent from.... SCUMBAG sh!theads
Barret Powell of Elan Sandpiper is rude and aggressive and she just takes half the day off!???! Everyday!?!
Worst property managers. Mary Kathryn lacks professionalism. Do not rent from this company.
Properties has cockroaches, fleas and mice.
The most untrustworthy company.
