I moved into this building about a month ago and my experience has been nothing short of great! From touring/leasing with Jacob to Taylor & Jimmy in Resident Services - everybody has not only been super kind, but extremely helpful. I moved from NYC, so I’m a long way from home, but having people as awesome as Jacob, Jimmy and Taylor has made my move so smooth and has made me feel like I’m truly home! They have gone above and beyond to answer every single question I’ve had (trust me, I’ve had a lot) and they’ve never hesitated to offer more help than I ask for, all with smiles on their faces. It’s clear to me that they genuinely want the tenants in this building to be comfortable and happy. I am really so grateful that they work in the Harborview office and I cannot thank them enough. The maintenance team is also on point. The only issue I’ve had was with my screen door, but it was replaced almost instantly - again with a smile on their faces. From my experience so far, the building is well-kept and very secure. I only wish the rooftop was a tad bit larger for the amount of people in the building, but it’s a really great amenity to have. Thanks to everybody I’ve encountered at Harborview, I haven’t felt TOO homesick yet!

Harborview is located in a great location in downtown San Diego. Less than one block from the harbor and walking distance to everything. The entire leasing team at Harborview are super friendly and always willing to help.Yes, as with any apartment living situation there can be noise and issues. However, the leasing team at Harborview ALWAYS addresses my concerns quickly and professionally in the 19 months we have lived here.

Living at Harborview Apartment Homes for the last year & a half has been such a blessing in so many ways. The staff here is unbelievably kind and helpful, especially during the pandemic. During COVID-19 they were many times I panicked about rent payments, but they assured me that I wasn’t the only one struggling to pay and gave me suggestions with how I could be resourceful and make it easier for myself, including encouraging & assisting me with applying for the state rental assistance. I don’t know what I would’ve done without them, I really have loved it here. Chris Collier made my move-in go very smoothly when I just had turned 22 and began living on my own for the first time; and Jimmy Kanady helped me stay. The staff is ALWAYS kind. Highly recommend this building to anybody with pets as well. Fantastic environment & community.

I have been living here for 7 months now. I am at the first floor. Unfortunately the management has decided that the free area right next to my window is for them to use it every day with all different kind of cleaning/ building equipment which make it unbearable to stay at the apartment during the day. I understand that they have to keep the area in a good condition but the right thing to do was to let a person know about that “free area” right next to their windows before signing up on the lease!

I have lived here for over a year and I have always felt safe here. The location is great and although downtown San Diego is making a lot changes, Harborview has made it comfortable. The staff here are professional and knowledgeable. They are friendly, and if you have a maintenance request, you can expect to get it completed ASAP! They will even send you notice when it is completed. You can’t beat the location. You’re close to the train stations, seaport village, gas lamp, and highways.Even in hard times we are facing today, they try to make it as pleasant as possible. They go above and beyond with constantly cleaning to maintain and uphold safety requirements. Thank you Harborview staff! Y’all are truly appreciated.

Do not move here. Irresponsible leasing and maintenance team. Dog feces in the hallways that don’t get cleaned for weeks at a time. Zero access to amenities they advertise on their website. Both buildings are old and problems in my unit came up regularly which they always charge me for. They try very hard to look like a resort style apartment community and end up neglecting their current tenants. Most people do not renew lease here. There’s a reason they only have two stars.

My experience with the full staff at Harborview Apartment Homes was simply upbeat and professional and essentially a thorough and very supportive and seamless process! Chris the Leasing Consultant, active in listening to all of my needs, answered all of my questions and literally made virtual touring effortless. Additionally, Mariana, the Assistant Manager provided a very warm and sincere welcome and responded rather timely in providing me with all of the information and resources I needed to engage a strong connection with the community and Harborview. The complete service I received from Chris and Mariana was my determining factor for choosing Harborview! It was a very productive apartment shopping adventure and I am profound and super excited about my new life at Harborview!Thank you Chris and Mariana!!!MD

There is a reason they mostly have 1 star ratings... signed a 10 month lease 3 months ago and can’t get out quick enough. They nickel and dime you at every turn, have had to get the cops involved about my property being stolen, will turn off your water without notice, perform loud construction in the hallway without notice in the middle of the day (when most people are on work called due to COVID), will walk into your apartment without warning to “check on something” and take 3 months to provide you with a fully functioning fridge.I highly do not recommend living here.

Amenities didnt work, constant water shut downs, a couple very nice people in the staff, but most of them were not very rude and not very accommodating. The people working in maintenance were great and very nice, but the staff in the office hardly tried to address any concerns. The ice produced in the fridge provided by haborview tasted like onion(that was never fixed), cockroaches in the laundry room sometimes and a constant fight with some members of the leasing office when trying to get concerns addressed. Moved out a month and a half ago and still trying to get security deposit back. I do not recommend paying over 2000$ a month for a 1 bedroom that eventually falls apart.Extremely overpriced for what you receive.

I would give zero stars if I could but I am only even giving one star for the maintenance and the cleaners. They are very nice and helpful but everyone else that works in the office is extremely rude and does not care at all about the people that live here. They make it extremely clear that they hate their job and they take it out on the residents. Extremely unfair, unhelpful, and just rude employees. This is my first year living here and I already want to break my lease and never will live here again. I absolutely hate the way I have been treated by the staff. Would not recommend living here.

My wife and I were searching for a great deal all around San Diego, but it wasnt as easy as we thought it would be. After a few open houses we finally came across the harborview apartments. We got a tour from a young lady named Mariana, and she was very helpful. After our first tour around the apartments we were automatically sold. For the price we would be paying, we would get so much in return. A nice condo with new appliances, amazing rooftop, gym, and an amazing location. It seriously is the most bang for our buck. We absolutely love where we live. Thanks again to the Harborview team for giving us a tour and selling us on the place!

I have never written a bad review of anything, but I feel that it is my responsibility to help other people to know the truth. As a good tenant you expect to be treated with honesty, you will not receive this at Harborview! From the moment you walk in the doors for your first tour you will be taken up the elevator by the only one that works in the entire community. As them to take you up another elevator. Ask them how often their washer and dryers break down. If they tell you that your water sewage trash bill is going to cost 35-40 a month for a studio (which is what I was told) dont believe it, every month my bill was $60, probably because the have so many vacancies that they have to continue to up the cost to cover it for the few people still remaining. They are not a very organized community; Expect them to enter your apartment every month, they are not organized and do not group up their inspections like other apartment communities. So every month they will post a letter the night before about entering for some excuse.I have never once, in years of living in apartments experienced anything like this community. Even everything about my deposit and move out fees were lies. Please do your homework, believe the reviews. I was excited to move to San Diego and live in a trustworthy Irvine property only to be disappointed and to have the worst experience of my life. Never once did they compensate any of the tenets for the inconveniences of amenities being broken down, we pay for these amenities and equipment to be working in our rent. When things have been broke down at previous apartments I have lived at, the tenants would be compensated in rent discounts, but not at Irvine properties. If they were low cost you may be able to put up with all the issues, but for their prices in this community, believe me you can find a place that actually works for your rent and in caring for the tenant. If I could put zero stars, I would. The only good thing about this community is Chris and the maintenance team who do their best at trying to help, even though their hands are tied because Irvine company will not help them out in providing the necessary fix and/or compensation for the many building inconveniences.

I lived here for 11 months (08/17 - 07/18) during a lot of their construction process & still really LOVED it! The finished projects were well done & not cheap. The halls were always clean when work was not being done. Parking was great & my studio was perfect! I was given lots of privacy & the neighbors as a whole are tolerant. It is a super dog-friendly place just like the rest of downtown. They always host meetups at downtown restaurants! The maintenance crew was very quick (less than 3 hrs) to getting repairs done & were all so friendly! The office personnel & manager, Gabby & Jamie, are also friendly & super helpful! The security guard, Vincent, made me feel welcomed & secured. The rest of the security guards, in particular the tall, bald white man, was never friendly & NOT ONCE did he say hi back. Other than him, everyone in the building (even 98% of the construction workers) made it a wonderful experience. If you want to live downtown to be able to walk everywhere, then I highly recommend Harborview! They really try to make it a great experience for their residents.

This is my second time living here at Archstone and I love it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to live downtown but in a good part of downtown. I can walk 1 block to Seaport Village and 5 blocks to Horton Plaza. My Leasing Consultant Mabelle was the BEST!!! The day I moved in she told me of another apt. that was bigger, cheaper and had a extra parking spot. Most consultants would have just not said anything but not her. Ive had to worst experience of my life here!Ever since Ive lived here, there have always been some issues with the management, construction, water, elevators... I thought that it can not get any worse, but then it did. There is a guy named LEON long term resident at the building, a veteran or something like that, older man, that is very intimidating and unbelievable. He is harassing everybody at the building and the garage. All day he sits in his car, takes notes who is coming in an out and delivers it to the management! The thing that was the boiling point for me was when my cleaning lady came to do my friday laundry and cleaning, and she said that while she was parking her car, this guy Leon, right in front of her called someone to inform that the cleaning lady is here again. What kind of invasion of privacy is this? I am seriously concerned for all the tenants in the building, since this guy in not a joke, and our privacy is in great danger. You are all under this guys surveillance and only God knows what is he up to. I AM SO HAPPY TO BE OUT OF THIS PLACE!

As a current resident I have been disappointed since I signed my lease. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism in the leasing office and lack of hospitality for my home .The laundry rooms dont accommodate the number of tenants and washers smell terrible.Yes, there is construction going on and it is a process however, the office is more interested in texting you about bagels than updating residents on what elevator is broken today and when things are out of use &, more importantly, when things are expected to be accessible again.I do not recommend these apartments to anyone who values service, transparency, communication and a sense of home.Side note: Clyde (Security), maintenance staff and other staff on property are nice but nice doesnt equal value or any sense of return on the investment of rent.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Im glad I no longer live there so i can give this review without them being able to target and harass me.Honestly, living in Harborview Apartments was the worst rental experience of my life. I would never recommend anyone signing a lease at this place.Judging by some of the other negative reviews Im sure they will quickly comment on here that they cant find my name in their records or know what Im talking about but theyre lying.Frankly I dont want them to follow up with me anyway.Where do you start with reviewing a place like this. The Harborview staff is condescending and treat the residents like they are lucky to be allowed to live there. The property is filthy and constantly under construction. Its been going for at least the last two years and they happily tell every new person it is about to be finished.Harborview rents out vacant apartments on Airbnb. This means that although they are charging their residence for a secure building with security and controlled access they are also handing out keys and access to strangers just in town for a day or two. You can find The travelers when they ask you if you know where the concierge is so they can return their keys.Speaking of security one or two of the gentlemen are very nice other security guards lurk in corners of the building and I even saw one picking through peoples trash. The building is completely surrounded by homeless people. They will definitely nickel-and-dime you on the way out once your lease is up but I was happy to pay them whatever they asked to get out of there and be done with these jokesters. They put fake legal notices on residents doors trying to get them to follow their ridiculous policies. In particular, they put notices on every units door threatening to evict anyone who is SUSPECTED of smoking marijuana. Keep in mind this is in California where marijuana is legal. My problem is not really that they would prefer people not to smoke pot but I have a real problem with them putting notices on the door threatening eviction and threatening to press charges citing federal law. This letter said management would be investigating residents...While it is cute and Im sure scared many people those who know what theyre talking about realize landlord resident disagreements are handled in state court in California. Also Im not exactly sure landlords have investigative powers to hold over their residents. But I bet the DEA is sitting by their telephone waiting for Harborview to call them to report some 25 year old kids for smoking legal marijuana in California. There is a reason why Harborview Apartments lease for cheaper than other spots in that immediate downtown area. You get what you pay for. The property is completely surrounded by homeless and the staff treats residents poorly. Im happy to no longer be there and Im happy to be paying a little bit more per month to live somewhere that treat people with respect and like grown ups.Id hate to see where those giving this place 5 stars used to live.

Its such a great location... otherwise sadly I paid for a view that no longer is there because of the construction that I was told would take 4 years to go up.... 4 months later view GONE. I was required to sign that I would not Airbnb or rent out my apt only the rooftop cant be enjoyed by residents because its always filled with drunk tourists that throw their trash around and pollute the water. They say no dogs on roof top but that rule also is not followed. Forget trying to bbq on the grills you pay to have maintained because thats also taken by people that do not live here or broken...the elevators are broken most of the time and the parking spaces are so tiny that it can only fit a smaller than average compact and it takes about 10 minutes to squeeze into... there are so many rules that NO body enforces... its really ashame because its a great location. Some not all.of management seems to try and help. Gabby I think tries... but it takes them all enforcing the rules they placed and I dont see that occurring. if they would keep the partiers that dont live here but break all the rules they place would be tolerant or if they would kick those that dont respect the space they rent out.

The absolute worst community to live in. Absolute worst. I had cockroaches falling on my head when I lived there, holes drilled through my wall and construction workers in my patio every single morning drilling, shouting and hammering. The management lacks empathy, respect and sense of urgency. They will get back to you on your issue, sure, but not until days and weeks after you have communicated with them. All in all, this is the lowest level of customer service and management I’ve experienced. Don’t live here unless you’re prepared for a horrible experience where they could care less about you.

I so badly wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt; however, my issues have compounded significantly in the last few weeks and I can no longer excuse their obvious lack of care or consideration for residents. For one, the lack of follow through here is unacceptable. The management staff is partially to blame, but the red tape in place by Irvine Company makes it next to impossible to resolve even the simplest issues in a timely manner (A non-functioning air conditioner should not take four visits and over 3 weeks to resolve). To echo prior reviews, the elevators and parking structure here are an absolute joke. I have to park my vehicle at a 45-degree angle in my parking spot and spend a minimum of 2 minutes trying to get out of the garage without hitting other cars or a column. Additionally, it is plainly obvious that people are sub-leasing their apartments to AirBNB, despite having to sign an addendum specifically forbidding this. There are people daily walking in and out of the building with suitcases or getting dropped off with suitcases in hand.Honestly, the only advantage of this building is the location; however, there are other buildings further into downtown that are a few hundred dollars less for the same if not better quality product. Go elsewhere.

I moved into the Harborview apartments at the end of May and have been really happy. There are a lot of negative reviews on here that, due to past management and, perhaps even recent with all of the construction, mightve been deserved. That said, my experience has been extremely positive. My take on the situation is that all of the construction was necessary to bring this location up to par in a competitive area. I cant speak for how it was handled as Ive heard it was really rough for those who lived here but, as a newer tenant, its been great. I also moved in knowing Id probably catch the tail end of construction so, while a little annoying at times, it hasnt been that much of an issue. The staff are incredibly nice (even the construction workers are friendly). Theyre usually really responsive and I think just as happy as the tenants that the construction is nearly complete. I had hesitations after reading a lot of reviews on here but took a chance and their staff is great. The amenities are nice for the value - the new pool and deck are beautiful. While my wait was only a few weeks, it was well worth it. The gym has nice machines and is never too busy. One negative review from the past mentioned the laundry room - theres now a camera in there and the facility seems pretty nice.A different negative review from the past mentioned lack of security and the presence of homelessness. Im not from the area but, to be honest, the homelessness is everywhere around the city. Its certainly not just Harborview and I havent found it to be that much of an issue. Harborview has hired a security team that patrols on nights. Ive found this to be really reassuring.I also like the location - only a few blocks from Gaslamp and Little Italy. Also a super quick drive to Coronado and the PB and OB areas. If youre considering moving to the area I would definitely recommend the Harborview.

I want to commend the ENTIRE team at Harborview Apartments (from Management to Maintenance and all in between) for the awesome experience that they have given me during my almost-4 years of continued residency. The incredible renovations that were completed earlier this year, are beyond AWESOME! Some people who want to make negative comments seem to not realize that renovations and upgrades must occasionally take place during the life of ANY building-including downtown historical buildings that are over 100 years old. Living on the beautiful harbor and walking only 3 blocks to my office every day is beyond awesome and I was happy to tolerate the construction behind the beautiful renovations made to the entire property. As for Josh Shapiros earlier negative statements, he seriously needs to read the law because besides his being VERY wrong, he sounds like a serial-whiner. Smoking (to include Marijuana) is NOT legal in apartment complexes or public common areas (I work for the U.S. Department of Justice). Both State AND Federal law strictly forbids this. Im extremely thankful that Harborview does NOT tolerate its residents to be forced to breathe-in toxins from those residents who CHOSE to become addicted to smoking and who do not follow the guidelines for smokers which are CLEARLY spelled out in all lease agreements. I applaud Harborview for diligently enforcing BOTH State and Federal laws pertaining to the health and welfare of our community. Living downtown, there is no guarantee that the Homeless will not try to encroach on ANY property and its not Harborviews fault if there is an incident caused by Homeless interaction. Onsite security does not hesitate to respond rapidly to any call when needed. Ive had nothing but positive results with Harborviews onsite Security-especially from Mark whos a no-nonsense guard and very liked and respected by Harborviews residents. This is an awesome community and so much is done for the residents such as dry cleaning pickup, occasional Happy Hour mixers, weekend bagels, etc.. I love living here and will continue to do so for years. Thank you very much Irvine Properties and Harborview Apartments team! Jim

Oh boy. Where do I begin? Ive only lived here for about five months and it has been nothing but stressful. It wouldve been nice if the staff had told us about the remodeling that would be going on for the next 18 months before we decided to move in. Not to mention the water has been shut off multiple times since move in, which I think is one too many times. I realize I am paying for the location, but thats really about it. Less than 600 square feet and Harborview has increased the price of rent for us by about $200...what??? For bad neighbors and loud construction noises at 8am? Youd think the quality of the apartment unit itself would be a little nicer. Wish I could break my lease now, but whatever I guess!

Dont bother moving in here unless you want constant issues, people coming into your apartment unannounced, horrible communication from apartment staff to residents, constant water shut-offs, construction all day every day, elevator shut-offs, disgusting smelling hallways because no one cleans the trash chute, horrible smelling stairwells because peoples dogs pee in there and no one cleans it, random people parking in your spot because units are being rented for Air-BNBs, and the list continues. Not to mention, if you bring any of your issues to them, they say theyll look into it and then either not call you back, or just say theres nothing they can do.I emailed them with my concerns only to have some random guy call me and be the communication middle man, because apparently no one in a supervisory role within Irvine had time to talk to me about it.Almost all of the other residents I meet absolutely hate it here and wish theyd never moved in.So so so frustrated and I wouldnt recommend this mess of a place to anyone.

I honestly cant complain much. I have lived here since 2014 in the same unit.PROS: Free parking. good views ( if your not in a court yard unit), the roof top is the selling point! Maintenance staff is amazing! (Shout out to Rafa!) and the location. The Location and the roof top are reasons to live at Harborview in itself. And truth be told people complain about the pricing but, look around and compare for the price and included ( free of charge amenities) it is pretty reasonable for downtown SDCONS: The remodeling has been going on since I moved in. they started on the units when perhaps they shouldve started with the elevators that people get stuck in regularly or the peed on carpet in the stairwells ( they are seriously atrocious. I NEVER bring guest that way but, then of course risk getting stuck in the elevator!) The property is pet friendly which I like I am a pet owner but, the enforcement with responsible pet owning is ridiculous! You would think because this is where *you* live you would help keep your dogs shi* off the sidewalk etc! oh well ive managed. OH and the AIR B N B is the worst so many young foreign students/vacationers who bombard the pool area and have no respect at all when it comes to throwing their trash away or putting their cigarette butts out in the appropriate receptacle! AGAIN THE ENFORCEMENT the management is pretty lackadaisical which isnt a good thing for people where this is truly their HOME and not an apartment. All in all I enjoy living here the included parking is a perk. They try to create a nice enjoyable place to live. The remodeling is still taking place but, im hoping i will soon truly love where I love...haha
