Outstanding location and resort living! The staff are friendly and professional and provide outstanding customer service. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. Clean and safe community. Top quality and very positive experience.
We are excited to be new residents of Westwood Apartments in La Jolla. Ashleigh Harrison, Community Service Representative, was responsive and in contact with us every step of the way. We were surprised with a welcome package inside the apartment with water bottles, wipes, hand sanitizer and key chains! When we initially contacted Irvine Company Apartment Communities, Bryan Schultz, Leasing Consultant, was super helpful and wanted to make sure we were happy with the community we chose to live in. The community is very well maintained, safe, and great location. We are looking forward to meeting our new neighbors and using all the amenities Westwood Apartments offers.
Weve lived at Westwood for a few months and so far, its the best complex out of many we experienced. After researching dozens of listings, we discovered WW, scheduled a tour with Brandon and ended up applying the same day. Its everything we were looking for - great area, manicured grounds, spacious and updated interiors, ASSIGNED parking, in-unit W/D, AC, quiet living, parcel lockers, great staff, etc.Throughout the entire process, Brandon was accessible, informative and on top of it. We had a few minor issues once we moved in that we submitted maintenance requests for and the front office / maintenance team handled them right away.Overall, major upgrade from other places weve lived and were enjoying it!
So far so good.Pro:polite and responsible agents in the leasing office. Jimmy is really nice and helpful. Also really appreciate Maintenance guys.Con:open community apartment, occasionally, strangers may knock at your door to ask a water or sell something.
I didnt end up leasing at Westwood because I found a different place that was closer to my work, BUT... let me just say that Jimmy Kanady was an amazing leasing agent!! So amazing that I had to jump on here and leave a review (and I never leave reviews). He kept me up to date on new openings as soon as they became available and had a quick response time to any email questions I had. The property was beautiful and you can see that for yourself, and having a leasing agent that was honest with me and passionate about finding me the perfect apartment home was the cherry on top! 10/10 recommend going to Jimmy at Westwood for anyone looking for a new apartment in La Jolla.
Nice place to live, clean, quiet, great amenities gym, pool, barbecue... the entire staff has been very professional and helpful, maintenance tech is very quick and professional.
I lived there for 1.5 years. I had to leave because of job. The maintenance of the apartment is really good. Whenever you complain, they will try to fix that as soon as possible. Stuffs are nice, Cassey is great. The location is very secured. I loved to jog around, visit mall. Two assigned parking and lots of street parking near the community. Over the time, my apartment had issues with furnace that does not heat up the room but I was not bothered that much. Community is good. Their cleaning service and demand to keep deposit after leaving the apartment is reasonable, it s not like they charge for unnecessary stuff like most of the apartment complex. The negative side is apartments are pricey compared to the size and they will raise rent a lot after 1 year. Also they have very strict rules on lease break. I had to pay 4000$ for breaking lease and I could not negotiate, so be careful on this.
Do not move here. This place advertises one thing but what you really get is a dirty moldy unit. Health hazard to the max!
Convenient: near world-class: retail shopping; healthcare, schools and university; abutts wildlife reserveCost: competitive and realistic leasingAmenities: Beautiful pool and spa areas, Resident Lounge, Gym.Maintenance: Beautiful landscaping, quick turn-around for requests
It started out nice but just you wait and see when it’s time to renew. It’ll go up to the max by law, no matter what time of the year it is. The staff will call a lot to see if you’re renewing.Repairs take time even for the simplest. The apartment above us had a leak while we were away. They came in and fixed it BUT just left our items in disarray. If you tell the office, they’ll pretend they have no idea about what you’re saying and the best, they’ll actually talk about you when they think you’ve left the room. Total immaturity.Honestly, there are nicer properties in the area. Our upstairs neighbors crank up the music all day and night. The pool and spa area are filled with kids partying with glass bottles and I’ve yet to see security. They have two “gyms” the size of a closet with old equipment. Your body will hurt if you try running on the old treadmills. They tell you there is a quiet area that you’ll pay more for but it overlooks the train tracks. I don’t know about you but overlooking tracks is usually not desirable. Seriously folks, keep on looking. This place is dated and overpriced.
I hope my experience of one year stay at this place would give potential renters a heads up with respect to what is gonna like living here and what would you get when being treated poorly. One of the several bad incidents that I could not believe happening is in the first week when I moved in early june, a water bill of May sent to me stating I own the company fifty bucks. I was told by the property manager that since the last renter moved out in April and water used to maintain the apartment before the next renter move in is on me. Which makes not sense since I was not even in the apartment using water before June. But I paid anyway. They do not care about how you feel and what is right, the only thing they care most is the money.Set aside these two unpleasant encounter with the company. some other things to consider when you are planning to rent here. First there is a train track down below the hill where the apartments sit. You will hear trains coming by and going every single night. Sometimes the squeaking sound is really nerve wrecking in the night. What would make your stay more unresting is the terribly loud neighbors who stay late in the night as the structure of the condo building here are purely sound conducting. You could hear they talking, laughing, playing music, watching movies. You could also sell the week they smoke, cigarette they smoke, food they cook with windows and doors shut tight. Which is mind boggling to me.Long story short, I try to be objective and desensitize emotions writing this review. However I would definitely not recommend this place to my friends.Last, good luck with your search around the area! Should you have any question regarding rental fare or other things you might be concerned of, shoot me message. I will do my best to clear some of your thoughts.
Took time out in the middle of my day on a Friday to inquire and the whole office is closed?? Then some lady who I guess works here, said just check their Irvine company website. Umm, why have a leasing center then? Either way, from my experience that means horrible management. Ill go elsewhere as there are plenty of vacancies now.
We have lived at the Westwood Apartments for five years and by far this has been the best apartment living experience I have ever had. Recently my wife had surgery and I asked management staff for extra assistance. As has always been the case they treated us as I would have expected from family. Unfortunately our family lives three thousand miles away but fortunately Julie, Ariella and Oscar were here to help. They are the best. Always willing to help without hesitation. This has been a great place to live. It is always well maintained and the location cannot be beat!
If you want to live with a bunch of raccoons and have a management team not care choose this place. The trash is constantly overflowing and you will see raccoons. Absolutely the worst experience I’ve had renting and the management team is awful.
I appreciate all of the maintenance men. They all work really hard and help us out with just about everything we need taken care of in our apartment. We like Rojellio because he has such a fun sense of humor and makes us all laugh each time we see him. Oscar is also a very nice guy and shows he cares about us and the property.
The leasing manager Cassie is very friendly and helpful. Thank you!
The good side: the maintenance is quick; the parking space is plentiful; there are enough public street lights in the night; the staff in leasing office are friendly and helpful; we have resident lounges (where printer is available), pool and gym.Just so so side:The pool and gym is a little smaller than expected, and the soundproof walls cant fully cut out sex noise in silent nights. If you unluckily choose an apartment close to the train track or near the street inside the community, the noise from trains and vehicles passing deceleration zone will keep you up at night and in morning.Bad side: dog noise from neighbor and ineffective conflict reconciliation: I choose to live in a non-dog area in here to free myself from hash noise from barking. However, the neighbor has two dogs, and they always leave them at home when they go out, so the dogs will keep barking unconstrained for a long time sporadically every day. It disrupts my sleep and work. There was even one time the dog bumped into the furniture and made earth-quake like noise in 12pm in the night. I called the property to try to solve this problem twice and hopefully they can solve it this time, though they say that keeping calling to complain about it is welcomed and helpful. The grade for this apartment will remains 2 stars if this problem cannot be solved effectively. Hopefully they will not change the non-dog policy in my area to solve this problem.I wanted to rate it as 4 stars, but the dogs barked again. Driven by that, the temporary 2 stars is given.Update: Partially solved. When it comes to issues with neighbor in non-dog area about dogs noise, the apartment at this moment can do nothing about it except courtesy calls, and the unruly neighbor below me dont care their dogs bothering other people even if they live in the non-dog area and I dont know why apartment allow this. If you are UCSD student, be aware because you dont want abrupt and unexpected dog barks disrupt your nap or study everyday.
Pricilla Packer is the most amazing agent! She helped my boyfriend and I find our dream apartment here at the Westwood apartments. She made the process easy and even after our first meeting, I felt she was a friend. The complex itself is beautiful. New everything! I moved into a newly renovated apartment and the complex has been continuously improving since I got here, even a new gym one building over from me! I highly recommend living here. Ask for Pricilla in the leasing office; you wont be disappointed.
We didn’t receive our deposit, they have it with them and we couldn’t do anything with it because we are outside the USPlus they told us it was already processedand we can’t send you another one, i give them my address precisely. After all they told me we can’t do anything about it
The property is well maintained, staff is great! They are always quick with repairs and take care of you really well!
The apartments and Irvine companys finance office aims to gauge you. There is no lenience upon move out. Be prepared for multiple, poorly organized, final move out statements. We received three successive bills charging more each time. The misaligned on site billing and Irvine companys billing provide conflicting information. Living there was not bad, but moving out was excruciating.
The washer and dryer are on the balcony. The property is also very friendly, they are always very quick to solve my problem. It is also convenient to go to UCSD. And close to UTC.Many UCSD students live here.
In July it will have been one year since I moved in and honestly I hate it. First we got screwed over and placed in a temporary apartment that we had to pay more on because the apartment we paid a deposit on wasnt ready. It was that or cancel the loan just a few days before we moved in. Not to mention we had to move everything AGAIN. And honestly the renovation is bothersome. Waking up with people outside your window, and then construction noises every day. Its been miserable. Not to mention I didnt have a shower for 9 days when I first got here because the diverter broke in the temporary apt...and when I went to ask what was taking so long to complete the service request, there had put a hold put on it with no reason why. I still have documentation. In my current apartment the faucet and handle have been fixed I think three times now and its leaking again. Seemed like a scam from day one.Update: the manager called and I dont even have my real name on here. I stand firm in my beliefs. And I was reminded that I had lost my set of apartment keys on a lanyard. I assume every set looks the same : apartment, mail, pool. Well they were in the lost and found in a box up in the closet in the office for a month before I went and asked. I guess its my fault for not thinking about it but they never notified anyone that there was a lost set of keys.Im guessing I would have been charged at the end of the lease.
UPDATE:Okay so I had ENAUGH! I move out I just had to break my lease. I cannot take it anymore. So they had to exterminate again my unit as theres more spiders and even after they exterminate it still the spiders comes back. Its so inconvenience because every time they had to exterminate my unit, I had to move all the furnitures and then rearrange it again. Not only that, I had to spend $$ to sleep in a hotel as even when they say that the spray only last for 6 hours and you can sleep in your unit the same day, I wont believe that as even though the relics of the smells of the chemicals you still inhale it and its not good for your lungs and its a health hazard. They will even advertise Love where you Live Oh well thats not the case for me with all of the inconveniences I experience since the 1st day of my move here. I totally regret renting here. A total waste of time and money.I do not recommend renting here:1) We just move two weeks ago and the following are all inconvenience for us and I dont know if we can stay here any longer:a) First Day, we are all tired and all we want is to park our U-Haul and car in our designated parking but then we end up parking our U-Haul and our cars we have to walk all the way two blocks away just to be able to park our U-Haul and cars as they are resurfacing the parking areas in where our building is located.I do understand that they are trying to make the community looks good but the leasing office should had informed us about this.b) After two days or three days in the apartment we received a loud knock at our door at 1:30a.m. and it freaks me out as we are not expecting anyone at 1:30a.m. And the knock keeps getting louder and louder and for so many knocks so I was forced to open the door and it turns out that it was the tenet downstairs saying that there was a leak in his bathroom and it is coming from our bathroom. I mean what the because we are so very very tired as we just moved in and not even a week we just moved we had already been encountering this problem.C) Weve been three weeks now at the apartment and now we are encountering spiders inside our apartment. For one day we had killed 11 spiders already. One night we are having dinner and the spider was crawling at our dining table.Am like OMG thisnis so annoying. Then I was taking a shower a spider was underneath the sink. So I went to the leasing office and they said they willl take care of it and now we are awaiting for that to happen.D) The apartment the way it was made is not worth what we are paying for because of the finish you can see spaces at the baseboard and the ceiling light and the ceiling fan is almost gonna fall down. The doors are all cheaply made unlike the other apartments I had stayed from before they had designs at the door.E) The bathrooms are way too small and I had to request to removed that glass door as I cannot moved around the shower freely and the fact that I am a little person...At this present moment we are waiting to see but for us this is all inconvenient and very very freaky specially when you had to kill 11 spiders in a day.I think I regret renting this apartment and sadly their contract is 14 mos. so if we cannot take this anymore because of all this inconveniences we might end up moving in the next few weeks. We will wait and see...
I used to live here back in 2011-2012 and I loved it, Im 21 and am pretty noisy and Its nice to feel like your at home without management staff yelling at you for something every five seconds, this place has a very nice pool area with a bbq n jacuzzi, its very family friendly, quiet and beautiful housing, the air conditioning is awesome. I didnt want to move back in this upcoming week because of construction but it turns out its not noisy at all and the workers r very respectful. If you are looking for a nice rental I would suggest here. I love the area, its a couple blocks away from UTC shopping center & Rennaissance shopping center with a cbs and multiple different dining places.
Get everything in writing! I lived there for years and when Irvine took over, they changed the entire staff and became much harder to work with. They gave me misinformation time and time again in person and when I referenced it, they had the nerve to ask if I got it in writing even when I spoke to the same person as before! If you move there and ever have a conversation with the leasing office, I recommend you record the conversation or have them give you the options in writing because they reneg all the time. Dont trust the notes in their system. Demand every single word in writing. They also raised the rent the legal max of 10% year over year.Ultimately, the office staff spoke about customer service but they dont really know what that means. They were too busy blaming each other, lying to my face, and saying things like Its just $4000 to understand their residents.
The neighborhood under construction work
Good employees
