First impression : 5 stars. My experience so far off the initial tour and leasing process has been great. Aaron Rodriguez made the process real simple and responded to my quires right away. The location, ambience and the friendly office staff were the main reasons for my decision to move here. Will post more once I move-in regarding the living experience and the neighborhood. I highly recommend asking for Aaron if you plan to tour this place.
Nice place... There were the usual issues moving into a new place, but the staff was great in sorting it out. I have to single out Ignacio and his crew. They had things in order quickly and professionally.
Met with and toured The Can Plant this past weekend and was blown away! Building, rooms, and amenities were even better than the pictures. Aaron helped me and was incredible. Signing a lease today!
I had an extremely disappointing experience trying to take a tour of this apartment complex. We scheduled a tour and showed up 15 minutes early to a locked front office. We waited outside for 25 minutes in the 95 degree heat, after knocking several times, before calling the office. The office member who answered the phone was unapologetic and rude. When she finally came to let us in she was disrespectful and unhelpful. We decided not to take the tour as we cant imagine living at a property that treats its residents so disrespectfully. From reading Google Reviews it seems as if other people have had this exact same experience, not sure if it is one employee in particular who is the issue or if it is a general management problem.
The Can Plant is a wonderful place to live! The management is on top of everything and always willing to resolve any issues/concerns immediately. The apartment walls are soundproof so you never hear your neighbors! The best part is the location. Being able to have a ton of best restaurants in San Antonio at your door step is truly amazing! I would highly recommend living at the Can Plant!
New to the area here! Visited the pearl last weekend and stopped by the leasing desk for some information and was pleased to meet Jacelynn. She was very giddy and informative and took the time to introduce me to all pearl has to offer even after knowing can plant was out of my price range. She was a very lovely lady and if I could, I would of rented here because of her customer service!
I love the Can Plant! It’s the best location because it’s right at the Pearl and there’s so many restaurants within walking distance. The management team is great and always answer any questions or concerns really quickly. If you’re considering living here, do it!
Very disappointed with the condition of our building in the Can Plant. Constant maintenance issues that dont get repaired in a timely manner or at all. When we first moved in, false fire alarms were going off in the middle of night and the access and garage gates were broken which was a safety concern. The majority of the garage lights and access doors dont work. Constant excuses from property management. I cant speak for the other 2 buildings but the main building needs a major overhaul. Bandaiding the issues only temporarily fix the problems only to break again. We love the location but not the property. For what the rent costs, Id expect more. Time for a major investment/update from Embrey.
Great neighborhood, very safe, inviting and smack dab in The Pearl! I enjoy the pool and the gym. I do hope the gym can add a few more weights/machines and update/spruce up some of the equipment in the near future. Very happy I chose The Can Plant to live in after moving here from Chicago!
What a beautiful place to live at the Pearl. The new staff is what keeps me renewing my lease because they really go out of their way to give exceptional customer service. Even through the winter storm we had, everyone including the property manager were seen on site to help us when they themselves had no power or water. What more can I ask for from a community?
Absolutely love this place !!!! I really love calling this complex home. The apartments are beautiful and comfortable.Management really listens to all concerns and make improvements as needed.Valerie the new property manager is very polite and professional and she has very good customer service while answering all my questions !! 5 STARS !!!
I recently toured The Can Plant, words cant express how amazing I felt the moment I walked into the door. I was greeted by Aaron and Jacelyn their warmth and excitement to help me find my future home sold me. I wont be relocating until the end of the year, but they truly took the time to provide excellent customer service. I cant wait to sign my lease when it comes closer to my move. Keep up the amazing work Aaron and Jacelyn!
Strongly recommend avoiding this “luxury” complex. Fire alarms going off constantly. Impossible to get anyone from the office to respond. Maintenance issues never resolved.
I’ve lived at the can plant almost a year and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made! I love all the staff, they are always so helpful and nice. Especially the new property manager! Never had any issues and the place is really beautiful and always clean. Glad to call this place my home ❤️
New resident here. Aaron made it extremely easy for my transition to my new apartment. I recommend asking for him!
There is a serious maintenance issue at the can plant, all issues mostly solvable but it’s clear Embry is spending their money on their new developments across the river or the Cellars. 50% or more of the time the lobby and hallways smells so badly like trash it makes you gag. The carpets in the hallway have pee stains and likely haven’t been repaired in years. The gym equipment breaks and takes forever to get fixed (going on week three for the stairmaster). Last, there’s an issue with the fire alarm system, three times in the five months I’ve lived here it will get set off in the middle of the night multiple times with a noise so loud it’s painful to your ears. The front staff is super attentive and so nice and have very little control over the situation. For what the rent is, this is far from luxury. You are ONLY paying for location!
I absolutely love this community! The staff is so friendly and ready to help. They have fun and festive resident events and have managed to renew our confidence in this property. Way better than the last.
The fire alarm falsely has gone off over 5,6,7 times over the last 2 years. great place to live, except for the fire alarm. buy ear protection if you move here because the staff has done NOTHING to get this fixed.
I called and scheduled an appointment arrived early waiting outside their locked leasing office in the warm afternoon heat. To be only greeted with a wave from someone working inside..when I knocked on the door and not even offered entry. Appointment was set for 230 I wasn’t called till 247 I only waited five minutes till I realized nobody was coming to open the door to show apartments for lease. Very unprofessional all I got was a pathetic sorry on the phone. I can only imagine how they run their day-to-day operations. And provide that and lack of support for the people who are overpaying to live in this area cause it’s the Perl.
Blown Away! This place is amazing! I love how quiet and spacious it is. Great location for cool experiences
My sister actually recommended this place to me and I’m so glad she did!!! LOVE IT!!! Definitely one of the best places I’ve lived by far! Love the staff
I’m a new resident here and I love it so much! My son loves the dog park and I love the pool!! So beautiful and clean
The only redeeming quality about The Can Plant are the location and a few of the staff members. We learned after a few months living in our apartment that there is an ongoing issue with rodents (rats/mice) by finding droppings on our AC Maintenance closet. Definitely something I do not expect, especially with the price they charge for renting here.Although the staff sent out pest control to deal with this (by placing traps) in a timely matter, the knowledge of having this issue would deter us from living here again in the future.
I lived here for some of the best almost 2 years of my life. Truth be told, its hard to say that I am glad I ever left San Antonio. The Pearl itself is a national treasure and I woke up thrilled living at The Can Plant. What a treat to live there and the staff was top notch. Stephanie was the assistant manager before I moved in and she was so incredibly helpful from the moment I first called to the time I moved out. I was probably one of the neediest residents theyve ever had, but I really did love living there.
Amazing Location!!! Staff is so kind and helpful. I definitely recommend this place
Fantastic experience dealing with the front office. Kasey and Amber were very kind and welcoming. They assisted in every way possible. Would recommend 10 times over!
My wife and I came in last week to tour the community, and we were blown away! The amount of history and view that this community offers is amazing. We did love how the 2 bedroom was very spacious and beautifully designed. We did tour with a young man named Reno, and he made us feel very at home right when we walked in! We cant wait to lease at Can Plant once our home sells.
LOVE IT! Probably one of the most incredible locations to live in San Antonio. Some of the best restaurants and boutiques are at your doorstep! The lounge is ideal for a work from home lifestyle and the staff and residents alike have been incredibly friendly and inviting! Cant recommend it enough!
I have been living at Can Plant for two years. I am currently downsizing and moving to a smaller apartment within this community. My leasing professional is Reno Uballe. He deserves a huge shout out. He is smart, personable and very knowledgeable about the property. If you’re thinking of living downtown take my advice and come by Can Plant and ask for Reno. He will help you find the perfect apartment! Plus living at The Pearl is awesome!!
I toured The Can Plant a few Days ago while I was visiting form Atlanta and I absolutely loved it! The office staff was super friendly and even the manager came out to greet me. I Thought that was so sweet! Im moving to TX in October and Can Plant was so perfect! It high dollar but so worth it. I already feel like I am home and I am excited to make San Antonio my new home!
Great location if you want to be near the action. Excellent restaurants, bars, markets, spa, and events in the small, clean, beautiful (and open-container!) neighborhood. Only a couple blocks from the river walk, and a quick Uber to downtown. Easy access to 281 (10-15 min from the aiport), and quick commute to Fort Sam Houston. On top of the perks of the location and neighborhood, the staff is amazing! From the leasing office to the maintenance crew, everyone is so friendly, accommodating, and fun! They are not only responsive and quick to solve your problems, but they genuinely care and are kind people. I am going to miss them when I move this summer (only moving bc of work relocation).
Phenomenal! The Can Plant is a beautiful property that offer amazing amenities. I toured with Reno, and he was very happy and knowledgeable about the community. If you are looking for amazing customer you should really stop by and tour with him.
Not worth the money. Gate is constantly broken. Tons of bike thefts.
I’ve been living at the Can Plant for almost three years and have enjoyed every minute! All the employees and maintenance guys have done an amazing job making sure everyone is satisfied.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE OFFICE STAFF! KELSEY IS ALWAYS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPFUL! WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND LIVING HERE!
I had a really good interaction with Kelsey Cash who is one of the leasing agents. Although I chose to live at another complex, because I wanted to live closer to where I will work, she was extremely helpful and responded quickly to all of my questions.
I’ll start off by saying the maintenance is incredible and responds very promptly to requests. However, nothing else deserves more than a star at this apartment complex. The overall construction of the apartment is very low quality, we lived in a courtyard and spent 18 months asking for the pet policies to be followed as we looked at and smelled dog urine and feces daily. Not once were we able to enjoy the courtyard setting because of tenants using it as their personal yard and not cleaning up after their pets. We had several gaps in our windows and walls where bugs would crawl through. The appliances and cabinetry are very low quality and installed horribly. Upon move in the apartment was filthy, our feet were completely black after walking through it once. Towards the end of our lease term we had issues with neighbors staying out drinking, smoking, and cussing until 1 in the morning, treating it like a college campus. You are paying ONLY for the area, the apartment is overly priced and I would not recommend to anyone. There are plenty of brand new complexes in the area to live in. The management does not hold tenants to equal accountability when it comes to a contract.
I was initially considering living here. I paid the application and background check fee. They charged me for the security deposit as well. I decided to live at another complex. I fully expected to lose the application and background check fee, but this complex refuses to return the security deposit I paid. They debited my bank account $175 on 3/26 for the security deposit. It is now 5/10, and I still dont have my security deposit back, for an apartment I never even moved into! Holding this money is beyond unethical and in bad faith. Their actions make me very glad I did not move in here.
I could sit here and write a dissertation on the poor/greedy leadership, immature tenets, and faulty construction that define this, ‘luxury’ complex.I won’t though, I’ve wasted 18-months living in this horrible place. You’ve wasted 18-seconds reading this; I’m helping you - trade another 18-minutes looking for another complex in the area. . . Don’t spend 18-months regretting like me.Can Plant Leadership. Don’t respond with another cliché response. Fix the problems (dog feces, constant maintenance issues, noisy tenants). If anything - hold tenets to equal standards.
The apartment is undoubtedly beautiful and has a great location, but the employees that treated us and showed us around were not the best. Me and my husband were suppose to have one day of fun apartment hunting, and this stop was the most ill informed and wary. We were not shown any amenities or add-ons, we were only given a piece of paper and shown one apartment, and the women definitely didn’t want to leave thier seats to show us more than the minimum. No one jumped up to see us when we walked in, instead they played chicken to see who “had to show these guest” around. Every other apartment complex in the area had much more to offer and wanted our business and us as residents.
Ive lived here for almost 3 years and absolutely love it. Awesome location, great restaurants, so much to do! The management staff is also excellent! They even set up events/parties for the residents that are great. They take concerns seriously, and are quick to address any problems that you may have. Very happy here!
I absolutely love my community - we are right in the middle of the best area in San Antonio - there are multiple shops, restaurants, and activities you can walk to. We also live right at the Farmers market.
Great place to live! Friendly and dedicated staff, great lounge and gym, prompt maintenance crew, well constructed (and sound proof) apartments, incredibly fun location!
Was very disappointed to find out there were no cans at this so called “can plant”. They should really call this place the “can’t” plant. BYOC. BRING YOU OWN CANS PEOPLE. And come to think of it there weren’t any plants either. The name is VERY misleading. Don’t waste your time coming here for cans. My family and I traveled all the way here from Cansas to see the magnificent can plant, and we were astonished at what we saw. People are LIVING in this can plant. I CANT believe this.
Worst Place Ever! Hearing as one of my five senses is important to me. The fire alarm system is literally deafening. It’s 106 decibels. I measured it. This place should be shut down until the fire alarm is fixed. Children and pets live here. I looked at other reviews and apparently there have been complaints about it for years, yet nothing has been done. At first glance apartment is high end but if you look it’s not. Stainless outside but plastic inside dishwasher. Even the color of the hallway is a boring grey. Renting here was a huge mistake.
I love living at the can plant! It’s convenient location allows me to always be in the know with what is going on around the pearl and as a community they really want us to feel loved. The fun events they set up are a bonus as well! Won’t leave here ever!
I love The Pearl District and the staff is absolutely terrific The Can Plant. Stephanie was so hopeful on helping get me information about the property and even went to take personal pictures of a few apartments available so I could make my decision from Abilene instead of having to come to San Antonio. Now that I live there, the girls up front have been awesome and have been so helpful with anything and everything Ive needed. I highly recommend The Can Plant to anyone.
I had to leave town on an emergency and ran into Patrick and told him I had Blue Apron coming in and would not be here. He said no worries I will make sure to pick it up and put it in your refrigerator. We came home and it was in the refrigerator. I would recommend The Can Plant to everyone, we have enjoyed it and the staff is wonderful!!
If, while walking around the Pearl District, you get a creepy vibe like youve walked into a computer simulation of real life, it might be because almost the entire Pearl district is owned by 1 company, Silver Ventures. Sure, there is various faux-retro signage up on the walls, but dont be fooled - even the beer at the Pearl Brewery is just re-skinned Miller. If you live here youll never have to leave, just as long as youre comfortable living in todays version of a Company Town.
The Can Plant is a great place to live. Well maintained and managed. The maintenance folks are friendly, helpful and obviously hard working. In my experience everything around here (and I use everything), the hallways, elevators, common areas, the pool and the gym are all kept clean, fresh and organized everyday. As a resident, of course, that is a huge plus and very much appreciated. The leasing team has been great from day one. My new favorite female super hero and leasing professional, Kristine Padua recently helped me with a little noise issue and did it without delay and with a smile on here face.Ame Steelman made the application process simple and straightforward, showed me various apartments to choose from and all the amenities The Can Plant has for residents. She was very helpful throughout and still says hello and calls me by name when we cross paths around here.Since it’s just me, I selected an open forth floor studio apartment with a small balcony and a pretty nice view. It was spotless clean and move-in was easy with one of the elevators made exclusively available to me to get my stuff up and in that day.The staff puts on regular events for the residents. I’ve only been able to attend one so far unfortunately, but I still have the succulent (plant) (they can explain it to you) sitting in my window and got to try food from Cured (restaurant/bar) in the Pearl before ever even going in there. It was great. I’ve met many of my neighbors and everyone so far has been pleasant and friendly. And the Pearl district....well, you just have to come down here and walk around a little bit, if you haven’t already. It’s something you just have to experience it to appreciate. I’m still exploring it. Lots to do and see.Like I said, a great place to live. I would highly recommend it.
Still no cans and plants at this location. If you do choose to move in here you will have to bring your own cans and plants. BYOCP.
I considered living here some months ago when I moved to San Antonio. I’m glad I ended up signing a lease with a different apartment complex. I was told by one of the leasing agents that the $65 application fee and $150 administrative fee would be waived since I had a military ID. Only after submitting the online application did I find out that this so-called wavier wasn’t recognized by the boss, so too bad for me, right? While $215 ain’t nothing but peanuts to The Can Plant, it’s still a lot of money to me. I don’t appreciate being made to feel like I was at fault for believing the leasing agent and that they held on to that money for months before the matter was settled. Moving is stressful enough. People shouldn’t have to worry about being scammed during their apartment hunt, but here we are. So save yourself the headache and choose to be part of a real neighborhood in San Antonio rather than living in a manufactured community that is The Pearl (aka Salsaman Land).
Some of the policies can be annoying, but I think often these policies come more from ownership than management. The staff in The Can Plant management office is great. They really go above and beyond. An example: They saved one of my Blue Apron deliveries by refrigerating it in their office fridge for 3-4 days before I returned from vacation. Pretty awesome. Keep up the good work Team Can Plant!!
The BBB should definitely look into this complex, as safely issues related to the physical and mental are of extreme concern.
Im glad I read the reviews. Will not move to a place where feces, bugs, and loud noises are a huge problem. NO WAY! Do better people!
The last weeks I have observed Sally in the front office helping residents with all kind of issues and with such great customer service. If I owned a company I would want her as my star employee. People like her are what make a business great and it makes you want to tell your friends with pride. JS
Members of the military, no randomly sharing your tax return for any application process. No Commander in Chief is perfect, but President Trump does know what he’s doing in business. Find alternative solutions.
The CAN Plant is in a great location on the north side of downtown San Antonio. Its just a few blocks from the Pearl Brewery, awesome restaurants, and the riverwalk. The building itself is well-planned and exceptionally well finished (common areas, decorations, etc.).Our HUGE disappointment with the CAN Plant, however, is the management. For an upscale apartment complex, the management is HORRIBLE. We moved in when the complex first opened and were promised the gym and other common facilities (i.e. Parking garage) would be available for immediate use. Instead, it took a few weeks for these things to open. I wish you luck getting your mail if you decide to live here...the office rarely knows what they did with packages and often delivered ours to someone else or emailed us when the package was really for a neighbor. Finally, during move-out, we werent allowed to turn in our keys early (we moved out a few weeks before our lease ended) and received a Move Out Checklist which didnt include returning your parking sticker ($50 fine). Basically, the CAN Plant management only cares about milking the most money out of you and could care less about your experience living there. Unfortunately for them, they now have lots of competition in the area...which is why you should look elsewhere if you want to be in the Pearl (1221, 1800 Broadway, etc.).The maintenance guys are awesome, though. If they ever take power, only then would I consider moving back...
I know this place will be excellent because Amy is there . She is one of the best manger I have ever seen .
Been here almost three years ! Great location ! Awesome staff ! No problems so far !
2+ yrs. Love it. I never want to leave.
🗑 place. Poke you in the eyes when moving out.
BEWARE: Ruin your credit report when moving out.
Those agents of terror. I guess they work on commission.
Awesome place and friendly staff!
Beautiful area
Constant fire alarms throught middle of night on weekdays so loud induces hearing loss and dizziness and insomnia, obviously severe issue with fire alarm system and sensors that has not been fixed for years, be prepared for sleepless nights and hearing loss if you rent here
