I went with 5 Star Design to tint my daily commuter due to all the positive reviews on here and other sites. Unfortunately, doing so ended up be a costly mistake on my part. I paid 280 and in the end it will probably end up costing me over 700 dollars.When I received my car after the first attempt there were the usual spots that are always there when the film is curing. However, after 4-5 days of drying it became evident that there were creases and dirt spots in almost every window. Some were worse than others.When I brought this to the owners attention he said to bring it in and they would take care of it. So I brought it in to have the window tint redone and unfortunately the second job was not any better. Only 3 windows where fixed. The others apparently met their standards including the rear window that is shown in the pic. There are creases that are over an inch long that are plainly visible. The two front windows were both redone but both have creases in the film. I was told that its a VW thing due to the felt window lining, but these creases are in the middle of the windows and are not hair or fuzz related at all. I also own an Audi RS that has the same type of window linings and the tint job on the car is spotless. To be perfectly honest I have never had any issues getting tint done on any of my other cars.On top of it all they did a poor job removing their previous tint attempt. There was glue particles all over the door gaps and they scratched two plastic windows trim pieces that I will now have to replace. So now I am out my 280 and have to pay another place to redo the tint, plus the cost of getting this tint removed. Not to mention the cost of the two trim pieces that I will end up replacing. I assume I caught them on two bad days since the other review are so good. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience and in the end its cost me both time and money.**Response to the owner**With all do respect sir, I already brought in the car a second time to resolve the issues. When I did so, the I was treated in a very condescending manner when I asked if I could point out the creases. He assumed me that each windows would be examined. When I picked up the car you said that only three of the window was redone and that the others met your standards. I find that astounding because the crease that is pictured in the rear window apparently meets your standards and was not even addressed. The other two rear windows have smaller creases, but have more of them.For the two front windows that were replaced those were not any better than the original attempts. I understand that you pointed out that VWs are difficult to do due to the felt window linings. However, on the drivers window there are two creases that are about 2 inches in size located right in the middle of the window and no were near sides of the windows. Then there is the damage to my interior that your techs caused when removing your original tint attempt. Which I now have to replace. You yourself said that tint jobs that are 90-95% good are within industry standards. I would argue that this job is not even 90%. Dust particles that are trapped are one thing, creases in the film is completely different. I have never seen these issues in other tint jobs I have had done in the past. To be honest, after my first two experiences you guys dont deserve a third chance. I simply cant afford any more damage or mistakes by your techs. Unfortunately, this will just end up being a huge financial mistake for me after its all said and done.

Great service. I missed my original appointment at 9:30am but when I arrived as a walk-in at 2:00pm they were able to get my car in. I had to have my tint (not done by them) removed in order to pass inspection.

I have only ever used 5 Star Design for cosmetic mods to my car and I have nothing to say but good things. David and his main installer Dawson have now done tint, chrome trim delete and a black-out package for my badges and they all came out amazing. I am planning on coming back to have them wrap my roof in gloss black and caliper paint. I keep telling them they need to charge more but David likes to stay competitive!

Got my tints here years ago. The tint still looks like the day it was installed. They do one of the best tint jobs in Raleigh hands down!

Five star is very professional they tint my work van last Saturday and the windshield strip wasnt done right and theyre promptly fixed it they do is stand behind the quality so yes I do recommend David and his team Ive used them for about 4 vehicles over the last 8 years or so

I like this place. Window tinting, vinyl wrapping, graphics and custom stuff. Right up my alley. I stumbled upon this spot during a google search. I have a Bimmer project that Im workin on and I needed my the tail lights tinted.Shop was very neat. Staff was very cordial, materials that they use are top notch. Waiting area was cool and cozy. Streaming tv was offered to me as well as refreshments. All cool stuff for a shop thats just gonna work on ur car.I was in and out of there within an hour I would say and was satisfied with the work for sure. The owner, David I believe kindly explained to me how the job was done. I will be going back for sure to get some work done on my other projects. Google does good again!

Ive been a customer of this business for several years. Theyve tinted several vehicles for me and Ive always appreciated their quality of work. This past week, one of the employees made a suggestion on a grill swap for my vehicle. I took him up on the service and boy was that a great decision. Most places would do the work asked and nothing more. However, this particular swap made my crash bar super visible and these guys went ahead and painted it without asking, because they KNEW it was something that needed to be done. That alone shows that they are in it for the vehicle enthus aspect and not just making a dollar. Highly recommended. Tint, customization, vinyl wrap, you name it.. They can get it done and done right.

Great quality and price

David and his team wrapped the front bumper on my car about 2 months ago. Quality work and the wrap looks amazing. They also installed my suspension, and my car was tinted iwith their carbon film. It looks great, no bubbles and it does a great job keeping out the heat. The guys here know their stuff

Overall the final product is mediocre (bubbles in a couple of places) which was disappointing. For the price though I was willing to call it average service. I had intended to give 3 stars but then I cut my hand on a straight razor that was left in my car from this service (presumably from removing the tint that we contracted them to replace). That type of carelessness is dangerous. Thankfully it was me and not my young daughter that “found” this razor. Also lucky that I keep a first aid kit in my trunk. I would advise this provider to double check their protocols so that no one else has this or a more extreme version of my experience.

My experience was great. The people were really kind and made sure my tint was perfectly applied. Any questions I asked were answered and made sure I had printed out directions on how to care for my new window tint. Thank you 5 star!

Been 3 months since I got my windows tinted and I still have tiny bubbles showing. It’s true when they say, you get what you pay for. Overall, the experience was okay. If you need help or have questions, I suggest asking for the manager. The younger gent who works at front desk not too helpful.

I had my windows tinted about 3 months ago on my Lexus. I informed that the bubbles never cleared up after about 6 weeks and was told to bring it up there to look at as if I wasnt sure what I was talking about. From there, took it back to remove that tint and tint again. Here we are another month out and large bubbles in my window tint that never went away. I am not fond of wasting gas or money. I would simply NOT Recommend this place to anyone. A coworker referred me, and I referred another coworker and now we are all in the same situation due to the poor service here.

I went here based off all of the awesome reviews, unfortunately my experience wasnt as great. The tint job its self is decent. There are a few spots that I will be watching to see if they go away once the tint cures. Ive had cleaner tint jobs done on previous cars, but, for the price Im not mad about it. My main issue was the fact that the guy that was working either didnt know the product or misspoke about the product. He stated that the lowest line that they offer, which is Scorpion Predator film, was a carbon film. I took his word for it until I left and did some research to find that the Predator film is only a dyed film. Now, this isnt a bad film but its not what I was told. Maybe there was miscommunication or some confusion but thats what I was told.Time will tell as far as how well the film was installed, but, Im a little less than pleased as of now just based on the misinformation.Edit 4/21: I will be taking the car back this week and having them fix multiple spot in the film. On both rear port windows the corners have sections that the film doesnt even cover. There are folds in the film, bubbles, and a small cut on the drivers front window.

My 2010 Nissan 370Z presented Dave with quite a challenge. The windshield is pretty steeply raked and worse yet is the rear glass in the convertible top. It is tough enough for me to just clean...I truly dont know how he applied the film to that rear panel! Bottom line, the car looks terrific and considering the price I have to say 5 Star is the best quality & value in the Raleigh auto glass tinting market place.Because Dave works out of his home garage, he isnt necessarily in a hurry. He can relax (play with the kids...grab a bite...etc) in between the job how ever and when ever he wants, which I believe contributes to his patience and an overall better job. He works by appointment only so there is no particular hurry, waiting line or other client interruptions.I researched a number of Raleigh based tint establishments. Many try to over complicate the process...laser cutting the film...10 different types of film...PLEASE. Just make my car look great...and Dave did that!Ps: No, Dave is not my brother! This glowing review is to a guy I never met before.

Where to even begin.My experience with David was nothing but spectacular. I brought my BMW 335i convertible in to get tinted and not only did David do amazing work he was extremely helpful in other aspects.I am not originally from North Carolina and I have not procured a relationship with a mechanic or car shop down here yet. When I brought my car in, David was nice enough to go through all the details with me and give me recommendations for places to get other work done to my car (custom exhaust, specifically)Additionally, I am not mechanically inclined at all. I am an accountant and I had asked David if he could spare a minute after tinting my windows to throw on some new wiper blades I bought for my car. No surprise, I bought the wrong ones but David left me a note in my car and pointed me in the direction of where I could get the correct ones. He also washed my wheels because they had accumulated break dust and I hadnt washed my car in a while. :-XNot only is David the real deal, hes also a great person. Thanks buddy!

Dave was recommended to me by the Maserati dealership. They indicated he is the best tint guy in the area and that they refer all their business his way. Being endorsed by Maserati says a lot and closed the deal for me! My wife and I both had our vehicles tinted and I can easily say this guy did the best job I have ever received. Had a really good experience with Dave, he did an amazing job. I drive a Subaru Impreza hatch which as you may know has many triangular windows. Charged me a great price and added in the sun strip on the top of my wind shield. The best way is to drop your car off an leave it, Dave offers a number of wraps and tinting he takes pride in his craft.

We had our windows tinted, brake calipers painted, and emblems blacked out on our 2016 Toyota. All work done looks like factory upgrades. Great prices. We would recommend 5 Star Design to a friend :-)

I was looking for someone who could do both tint work and graphics to take care of some things on a truck I recently purchased. Google led me to Dave and 5 Star and Im grateful to have found him!The truck had illegal tint on the driver and passenger windows that needed to be removed and redone with NC legal tint. I didnt figure this part of the job to be an issue and it was not, Dave did a great job removing and installing the new tint, no bubbles and it looks fantastic!The challenging part of the deal was to remove OEM decals from the hood, both doors on both sides of the truck and the rear quarter panels. You can read and watch videos all day long that tell you how easy this is to DIY with a hair dryer. I thought it over and decided on having a professional handle it. I knew it would be tougher as they were a year old. Dave let me know they were even tougher than he thought at first but he got it done with amazing results!If youre looking for tint, graphics, wraps, other car customization work, you cant go wrong with Dave and 5 Star. Great prices, great products and amazing results. Very easy to work and communicate with too. Highly recommend, you wont be disappointed!!

David can preform miracles that several shops told me couldnt be done!! He was able to tint the break lights on my BMW 650i with film even though they are designed in such a way that made the process impossible for other shops to even attempt. Not only did he get it done but its looks awesome. He also did the headlights and they are equally as impressive. The best part of the whole thing was his prices, he does superior quality work for super reasonable rates. Will no doubt return for more tint and also custom graphics and wraps. Thanks Again!!
