Ive been here 3 times so far, and the first 2 were great. They were friendly and polite, and they took extra time to make my haircut great. Today was my 3rd time, and it was bad enough to warrant 1 star. The man was grumpy and he rushed through the haircut as quickly as he could. Normally people at least try to keep your hair from falling all over your face but it was filling up my mask. I have no way to know but Im pretty sure it was deliberate because its also a terrible haircut. So if you see a man around 30 with brownish hair thats bleached blonde the last few inches, avoid him.

I received a wonderful haircut here got exactly what I asked for. I went in at 6:30 and they had me out at 7:10 with the exact cut I wanted. Everyone there was super friendly and supportive of my decision to take off all my length. Will definitely visit again.

Before I started coming here I was seeing some fancy barber that was charging me $50 everytime I went and got a haircut. Did that for too many years.I went and saw Nicole a couple months back and she killed it! Easy to talk to and work with. I got the works package from them which is a haircut, hot lather, neck shave, and neck massage. Worked out of there looking like a million bucks PLUS I didnt have spend that, to look like that!Also, this barbers is locally owned and operated so Im totally there for these people.

Had a hair dye incident with my kiddo and they saved me! They put a pad on the chair to prop her up and with much struggle we managed to get her hair taken care of.Patient and kind people. Ill have to come back for my own hair at some point 🤣

My appointment was at 1130am I was out by 1138am, it was the fastest haircut I have ever gotten there and the worse at that too. The hair stylist Tony(woman) kept asking me about sports after me telling her twice I wasn’t into sports. Then goes on to ask me if I had kids, when I said no. She just started stating how kids are not for her and how she doesn’t want any. I’m not a talk I’ve guy, but when I had left I stated, “that’s the fastest hair cut I have ever gotten here” she then tells me “we’ll probably because you are so quite” I guess if I had talked with her more I would’ve gotten a better haircut I guess? I have been coming her for years, I think I’m taking my business else where now.

Tina is the best! Always the perfect haircut and I dont like other people cutting my hair! I had to move away and miss her dearly! I wish I couldve just put her in my pocket and taken her with me! Ive been going here for a bout six years and usually have a fantastic time with professional results and atmosphere. This last saturday it was the complete opposite. My hairdresser was very unwelcoming and did not listen to a word I said about length or my refusal for product. Her discussion was very inflammatory about government & social issues. I wish I had gotten her name so I could make sure not to get her again, But all I wanted was to get out so I could just buzz the rest off when I got home. Im sorry that this is what they have now, And even more so that I wont be returning. I hope they can improve.

I asked for the hair on top to be just short enough to barely part over. I also asked for a beard trim and she cut it all most all off. And the neck line was just as strait as my bang line. There are also spots on top that are wayyyyy longer than the other areas. I would say some paches are 2 inches and other are 2cm. I honestly don’t even know something like this is possible. Paid like 40 bucks. If I remember her name right it was tommy or Tammy. She had Pig tales with red highlights. Stay away.

Good, no-frills men’s cuts. Adequate spacing and safety precautions during COVID times. Called only 30 min in advance and they were able to schedule me in without issue on a late Friday afternoon. Barber listened to request, and had no problem continuing to make adjustments until hair looked right.

I’ve had mostly five star and a few four star hair cuts in the half dozen or so times I’ve gone. The crew is always nice, professional and on time with their appointments. Their Covid policies are just the right balance for my taste - definitely not lax and definitely not hyperparanoid.I would recommend them without hesitation.

I dont write reviews, but this was such a disappointing experience that I felt compelled to. This is the third time my boyfriend has been to this location, the first two haircuts were fine, but this third time was completely botched. He was not asking for anything complicated or new - just the same cut he always gets. First off, the woman clearly just wanted to get out of there and go home so the haircut took all of 10 minutes, she left his hair wet and her final words were If this doesnt work out for you, you can come back and we can fix it. That seriously implies that she knows how bad she wrecked his hair. When we got home we were there no longer than 5 minutes before we had to immediately leave and go to another barbers to fix this train wreck. Im not sure the photo does it justice, but his hair looked like a piece of modern art and as a young professional it was completely unacceptable to walk around even a day looking like that. To top it all off, when we arrived at the next barbers to fix the haircut, she asked him, Did you do this yourself?

Got my hair cut by Andy and its definitely the best cut Ive had in Portland so far (have only been here for 6 months, but still). He was an absolute pleasure to converse with, kept me comfortable, kept me entertained, and the haircut was exactly what I asked for. The place is very nice as well; TVs for every customer, drinks offered, overall pleasant atmosphere.Would recommend.

I mainly take over of my sons here. The cut you get definitely carries work who happens to be available, but for kids who are pretty much happy with any cut, its okay. And wait times arent too bad if you go early on the weekend

Started going here almost a year now and have been happy with the haircuts. Service is usually pretty fast, as I always call in first. Worst Ive ever had to wait was 15 min.Today I called at 2:45pm to see when the next open slot for my person was. The person who answered the phone checked, and said there was no one on her list, and that she was available. I had her put me down, and said that I would be there within 10 minutes.So I arrived 10 min later, signed in, and waited about 5 min. During that time another guy came in. Eventually my person came out and said he was first. I said I called in, and she said he called right before me, offered a small apology and showed me the list. I said when I called I asked specifically if there is anyone on the list since I was tight on time, but she did not have an explanation, just a brief sorry about that.Given there is only one written list, and one phone, it makes me think the other guy called in a min or two after me, but gets the works as opposed to my cut only, so they bumped me.First world problems I know, but as I have a client at 3:45pm, I could not wait, so it ended up wasting 30 min of time in the opposite direction of where I was going afterwards.

Closely following COVID guidelines

The haircuts are awesome, but the walk in policy is awful. They apparently prioritize people who call in, even if you have been waiting longer in their lobby. I walked in once, and was first on the list, and someone walked in 2 minutes after me who said he had called in from his car moments before, and they took him first. This was the third time something like this happened. I asked them to clarify the policy, and I got a rude reply. Definitely not going back.

The entire crew here is spectacular. Not to make him too busy, but Andy is one of the greatest barbers I’ve ever encountered. Super engaging always happy, and willing to go the extra mile.

I go here, because as a female, it is hard to find a place to get a good fade! This is the best place to get the haircut you want. Everyone is extremely nice! I specifically get my hair shaved and cut by ORyan. They also provide a shoulder massage at the end if you want. The wait is short and there is popcorn in the lobby.

Reasonable and usually good haircut. In Portland its become very trendy to charge $25+ for a basic mens cut. The Barbers will & wash your hair and give you a neck shave for about $23. No appointments taken, but if you call 30 minutes before arrival theyll put your name on the list. You can request a specific barber, but I usually play the odds and take the next available. Ive not been disappointed. In the end - it really comes down to the person cutting your hair, not the name on the door.

Bought my son in for a haircut a couple of days ago. Its a big deal getting a haircut for him as he really likes his hair. It doesnt grow very quickly so its not very often. Hes been growing it out for over year and also took a picture with him to give the lady to give an idea of the length he wanted. She proceeded to totally ignore him and cut about 6 inches off the top of his hair and totally butchered it. She also charged us $18.95 for an adult cut.When we got home my son was beside himself he was so upset took him a good few hours to get over it. Probably be at least a year or more for his hair to grow to the length it was. I wish I had done more research. Worst experience ever. One that we will never forget.

Ive had a great experience with Megan during my monthly trips to The Barbers Sellwood. Im also pretty particular about my hair and have never had any mixups. I do try to go at off peak hours so the wait has been totally fine. Candidly, Im a bit surprised to see any negative reviews. I give high praise for the team over there.

I had a terrible experience here. The person who cut my hair didnt take the time to ask me what I was looking for in my hair cut or ask me how I style my hair. I asked that the side of my hair be cut using a 2, which she said she did, but now that I am home, I know she didnt. As a result I will need to get a haircut again in about a week as my hair grows fast. She then proceeded to start cutting the top of my hair and when I tried to ask her about the cut all she said was we will make it look good. There was no concern to what I wanted or interest in how I style my hair. Hopefully if you decide to go here you will have a better experience than I did, but for me, I will not be coming back here and recommend you dont waste your money or your time.

I arrived at the Barbers at 9:45. Two women were working, both were busy, and there was no one else in the shop. I was greeted and signed in for a haircut. I left 40 minutes later, after three customers who arrived after me were invited to sit down. At no time were there more than 3 of us waiting, so it is not as if I was lost in a crowd. After the initial greeting, not a word was spoken to me. If there is some secret list that jumps ahead of walk-in clients, it would be nice if the staff mentioned it to those customers who are patiently waiting for service. I wont be back to this location.

I asked the barber for a small mohawk and she didnt know how to do it. I asked for something similar which she also didnt know how to do. I asked her whats her fav haircut to give and she said she didnt know... a fade? Smalltalk was really bad.

The two times Ive been here I received the two best haircuts of my life. Im used to going to great clips, and returning the next day to fix what was messed up, just to have a mediocre haircut. The Barbers in Sellwood ask for the same price, but theyre 1000% better. Im sure theyre all terrific, but so far Tee and Julie have cut my hair, and theyre both champs.

At first glance, the shop feels like it will be very expensive, as there are about 23 seats, all with brand new upholstery and equipment. Flat screen TVs adorn the walls, displaying either ESPN and CNN.There are a ton of haircut books that you can choose your cut with, as well, which makes it easy to know what you want.After a detailed, great-looking trim, customers are treated with a shoulder massage! Straight-razor neck shaves are available as well.Thinking that the cut was going to cost at least $30, I was pleasantly suprised when it rang up as $16!!!!! THAT IS A STEAL!Looks like I found my new favorite barber shop. Definitely give this place a try...

Ive been to this location four times, and two times Ive walked out without getting a haircut after waiting for more than 20 minutes. The waiting list system that they use is unclear and confusing, so while you may see a few names above you in the list, youll find that your position in line gets sniped by people that come in after you. Those people are usually folks who have called in ahead of you, or who have some special arrangement with one of the stylists. Unfortunately, because the names on the list are often highlighted in different colors, its impossible to know as an average customer what position you have in line.If youre trying to get a quick hair cut, and you havent called in ahead of time, you should just avoid this place. The cuts are average at best, and the service is mediocre if youre not sitting in a barbers chair.

I’ve been getting haircuts here for 18+ months. It is odd that it is called a barber shop.There isn’t one stylist in the place with a barbers license. When they give me a “trim” around my neck and sideburns, they use electric razors.Why? Because they are not carrying a barbers license. That means they cannot use a straight razor.So, why is it called the Barber if they don’t employ any barbers. They all carry a beauticians license.Someday I’ll find a barber who can cut hair and is licensed to do so. I’ve found them in Denver, Hermosa Brach, Irvine, Naperville, Chicago, Boston. . . . But not here.

This place is great! I work across the sellwood bridge and come in every two weeks for a pro buzz cut. Shoulder massage is a plus! See you next week :)

If you are not taking any more people turn the open sign off or have someone at the front telling people politely that you are not taking anymore walk ins!Ive been going there for months .... The day staff Meagan, Britney and Liz are great ... But if I ever need a haircut in the evening from now on Im definitely going back to bishops.
