I am so disappointed in the rental. I rent a car for badly needed a vacation. The last year of nursing has been very stressful. Then I get to this rental place that has all kinds of rental fees. I paid the same fee twice. Hey where is the health care discount? Building looks questionable. I would suggest renting more professional place

This was by far and away the worst car rental experience I have ever had in the past 40 years. We reserved a car in the San Diego area for a family vacation. Our departure flight was delayed getting us into SoCal about 1-1/2 hours later than planned. No biggie ... right? WRONG! The NU Car rental location closes at 3:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, 5:00 PM during the week. What reputable car rental service keeps these sorts of hours? None that I am aware of. There was no answering service and no way to notify anyone that we were unable to pick up the car, which was paid for in advance, at the prescribed time. After making rather expensive arrangements for transportation that first day we went to NU the following day only to be told because we failed to show up the first day our reservation had been considered abandoned. Fortunately for us they still had a vehicle we could rent however it was considered an upgrade and would cost an additional $150.00 for the week. The staff was helpful but somewhat aloof. The facility was extraordinarily small with very few vehicles available. I would not recommend this company and will not ever do business with them again. In the end it cost me an additional $350.00 for car rental. If you are looking for a bargain price and do not mind dealing with the hassles which are very likely to occur with NU Car Rental then go ahead, it is your time and stress. However, if you want a smooth hassle-free experience spend the few dollars more and go with a well-established and reputable rental car company who has plenty of vehicles, does not keep bankers hours and is appropriately staffed.

Had a great experience here. Trey was our agent and he was very polite and professional. He made sure we were taken care of. I believe Julie is the manager. She also helped us to be able to enjoy our trip without worrying about an additional fee. The guys outside were great too. I love that this car rental takes pictures and videos of the car and email it to you before leaving the parking lot. Overall excellent customer service!!

Dont ever rent here. First, if you are expecting it to be at or close to the airport, dont. You take a shuttle to the car rental area, and then you walk with your bags 1/2 mile in the hot sun to another parking lot, wait, and then take another shuttle to nu car which is several miles away in South Phoenix.Second, be prepared for unexpected tricks and fees. We called to ask if we could be a few hours late. They said sure, no problem, we will bill you at an hourly rate. No penalty. They billed us $86 for the 4 hours we were late and then another $200 penalty was charged separately. Nothing the credit card company can do - Its a valid charge.

This place requires 2 shuttle rides from the airport. The neighborhood is very sketchy. The building looks like a temporary building that was purchased and they setup a couples computers in there. The drywall isnt finished and it was super unprofessional. Our first car we were assigned was previously wrecked and they apparently didnt know this but it was very obvious when we saw it. The transaction of getting a car took over 15 minutes. The only reason that you would ever consider this rental brand is to save a little money, but I would say its not worth it. On a lighter note the shuttle driver was very informative and nice.

NU Car Rental lists the prices as less but certainly they are NOT in the end! Besides ALL the extra charges, I could not fill the tank at the gas station very close to them, but only needed a half a tank...THEY CHARGED ME $9.99 A GALLON!!! I explained the pumps were down next door and they DID NOT CARE ONE OUNCE!!! USE ANY OTHER CAR RENTAL OTHER NU!!!

Terrible experience, didnt know when I booked online that it would take an hour to get to the rental company and require transport by TWO shuttles. Had to call to request shuttle because we were left just standing there waiting for it. Building is delapadated with drywall unfinished. During checkout they tried to charge me over 300 dollars more than my reservation. When approached about it, their system malfunctioned. Do not rent from this company.

Stay away!!! This company does not honor your contract!!! Picked up our car a few hours early, all was good. The agent adjusted our pick up time, and our dropoff time stayed the same. We returned our car about 30 minutes before the time to return that was printed on our contract that we signed. We were the only ones to return our cars at the time and it took them 45 minutes to check in our car, which resulted in a late fee of 45 dollars. When we called to dispute this, the customer service agent argued with us about our drop off time was a different time than on the contract we signed. Wouldve gladly spent more money to go to a company that doesnt screw you over

Its not at the airport u have to take a shuttle.And after hours u have to find your own transportation back to the airport. Cars are ok all are basic models with none of the new safety features u expect in a rental car. If I went back to Phoenix I would use another company due to this. Staff was nice and no one tried to RIP me off or anything so experience wasent bad but trying to find an uber back to the airport at 4am in a sketchy neighborhood is not ideal.

Terrible idea to rent from here. NOT AT THE AIRPORT RENTAL TERMINAL AS ADVERTISED. Did it once because it was super cheap. Not a great experience though. 2nd time I WAS going to rent from them, I waited 25 minutes for the shuttle as I was calling to cancel my reservation he pulled up. When I asked about returning the car I was told it had to be returned before they close at 4:00 each day. And since the shop was 6 miles away from the rental car terminal I would have to take a taxi to get to the airport. They shouldnt be allowed to advertise as an on airport rental agent. I canceled my reservation through the APP and they still charged me. I have been trying to contact them for 2 days and no one will answer the phones.

DO NOT rent from this company!!! I sadly fell for an enticing bundle through Priceline. Big mistake, Huge!! Which rental car company closes at 4 pm at a major airport like Phoenix??!!!!! I wasn’t able to make my earlier flight due to a family emergency. When I called customer service to let them know I’d be arriving later I was told in these exact words. “Sorry that site closes at 4.” When I expressed my shock she hung up on me. Literally hung up!!! Of course I immediately went to Enterprise’s website and booked a car within minutes. Good old Enterprise!!! I have never had a negative experience with them that’s for sure. Never again will I even consider going with anyone else!!!

I booked a rental with this company and then cancelled it less than 1 hour after I booked it. In my communications with a representative (I have an email chain going) I was told a number of times they would refund my money in full. That was 9 days ago today and I still havent seen a dime of my money returned. I emailed them earlier today and no response. DO NOT BOOK WITH Nu Car Rentals. They are not truthful and have no integrity at all. Just read the reviews here and go with a reputable company. This place will be out of business soon, I hope.

The price is attractive no doubt. But OMG! Be ready to be surprised with you bill when returning your car. I topped the fuel tank. At the counter the rep told me Im good to go. Thankfully I insisted on a printout. A day later, I checked my email and received another charge. They charged me $134 in fuel! Wow, I rented a car,not a tank. I called the toll-free number and it said you just write in your complaint as no one will handle accounting dispute! Holy cow. So, I called my credit card while writing to them in writing. I filed the dispute via my credit card company. Needless to say, if you dont pursue, you will get charged. If you dont check your email, your credit card get charged for charges that you may not be aware of. Cunning!

I wish there was a way to give 0 stars, worst experience ever.A humble request to everyone, DO NOT rent from here.This is a Private car rental service, with no proper set up and location.First you have to go to a visitor parking area to get their shuttle, which they will send when they feel like it, which could take anywhere between 45 minutes to HourSSS.The shuttles are stinky and dirty, the staff is not trained on even how to handle your luggage.Once you are there the people on the desk are so slow that you will start feeling sorry about yourself that why did you rent from here.Then comes more exciting part, when you try to return the car during off hours there are no instruction, the assigned parking space is gated and closed /locked. No other instructions mentioned that where you should park the car and leave the keys.The area is so shaddy where their office is and it smells so bad, so you will have so many questions in your head if you should leave the car here or not.I was getting late so I left the car right outside their office at a spot and dropped the key in the box and made a video for my own sanity, as I tried calling, emailing them multiple times with no response.When you get the car they make videos and take pictures and then at the drop off as well, having said that I was charged for $175 for smoking fees, and I have not smoked in my whole life.When I called the Customer care they reviewed the video and apologized as they could not find any trace of Smoke or ash and processed the refund.Please DO NOT RENT FROM HERE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be extremely suspicious of any review that does not paint this place as the complete scam that it is. Staff was rude and combative and not only was this place sketchy and hard to find, once you get there they are intentionally slow and seem to find issues with every customer’s reservation. They take no fault for anything - the customer is always wrong must be their mantra. When my friend and I finally got to the counter, they claimed that my Visa was not a “major card company” and they could not honor my reservation. After wasting 2 full hours of my life with these crooks, they started trying to pitch me on an off the books car company that could maybe get me a car. Just follow me down this shady alley and we will find you a car. No thanks dude. Oh and all of this after they yelled at my friend and called her a bad person. I kid you not - just don’t even consider it.All things said, I give them 1 star because after reading other reviews I think they actually did me a favor by not taking my no name “visa” card since apparently if you give them your credit card, they like to charge you for phantom scrapes and fees months after you have returned it.

All of the other posts here that speak to terrible customer service and the actual location being located miles away from all of the other rental facilities at the airport are 100% true. Dont be surprised when the second shuttle driver tells you that it’s only 2 miles from the airport and it’s not and don’t be surprised when you reach the actual location of the rental company and it looks like an abandoned restaurant and don’t be surprised when the “customer service” reps at the desk treat you like you’re lucky to be getting a car from them!

Smooth transition from start to finish. Signage at the airport to the shuttle could be improved but Rodger our driver was incredibly informative and helpful and the pick up and drop off was extremely efficient. If you’re looking for a reasonable priced rental service that the only negative being the shuttle; this is the place to rent from. Will rent again in Phoenix.

I deducted a star as a bit off the beaten path so make sure you know where to go to find the shuttle from airport car rental Area..as it is not there. You have to take another shuttle to their business so make sure you are aware of time with flights as they close pretty early as well so I was stressing a bit the get there on time. Aside from that, I was I bet skeptical reading reviews but everyone was SUPER friendly and helpful..And I got an awesome Rubicon for the week at a great price! :)

10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! 1st this place is NOT at the airport OR at the car rental center! It is in a very sketchy building. We paid in full through priceline. My email said all we had to bring was the card we used to book and photo ID. Get there was told I was unrentable because there was a flag on someone who lived in Idaho with the same last name and same birthday. They also proceeded to tell me my identity must have been stolen. Finally got someone to tell the front desk that it obviously wasnt me. My last name is common 😒. So then they tell me they are gonna allow me to use my debit card for incidentals but charged me an extra $53.19.The whole process took 2 HOURS!!!!! The only good thing I have to say is about the guy who pulled our car up and put our luggage in the trunk. When we got back the guy who helped remove our luggage and made sure we made it to the shuttle safely and our shuttle driver. Literally the only highlights to this horrible company!

Well I arrived at the airport and went to the rental center at Phoenix sky harbor airport and to the designated pick up point. I knew I was at the right place because i saw your pick up van departing from the location, so I sat since where your site indicates that the driver returns every ten minutes. So this was at 1445 hrs. So I wait and wait.I called your number three times asking where the driver was, each time I was told they had contacted the phoenix office and had the driver on the way. On the second call the young lady told me that she thought i had said I was in San Francisco well I don’t know how you get San Francisco out of Phoenix AZ so I gave my location again and was assured the driver was on the way and when asked why he was not arriving every ten minutes and indicated on your site I was told it was very fifteen to twenty minutes. He did not show up and I called again and was told he was on his way but he had to drop a handicapped person and would be on his way, this was at 1534 hrs. and I asked for a callback for confirmation. No one called, the driver did not arrive.An employee just happened to arrive but not in the van, I saw his shirt with your company logo so I asked him if he was here to pick me up. I was told no. I told him what had been happening to me and he radioed in and the man on the other side of the radio call told him to tell us that they were closed now and we would have to come back in the morning to pick up our car mind you this was at 1629 hrs. Almost two hours after the initial call...The conduct and lack of service of your Phoenix location is appalling, so I waited for an hour and forty five minutes for nothing. I had to go to the car rental station at the airport and rent from another company just to continue on with my trip. I have NEVER had this happen to me and I travel a lot and rent cars all the time. Your company is absolutely the worst company I have ever tried to rent from in my life. Your customer service agents lie, do not follow up and left not only me but other customers that had arrived without transportation and had to make other arrangements. If this is how your company does business you won’t be in business much longer. I can not wait to give your company the scathing review it so deserves, but that won’t matter to your company based on their lack of performance and poor customer service.They failed to live up to their contractual obligations. I will NEVER do business with such and unethical and unprofessional organization again.

Wow, this company has set a new record for how long it takes to get your car after already having reserved it weeks before. I think they actually tried for the longest possible time. My wife and I were completely lied to in order for NuCar to make another days rate from us. We were told we could have the car back by 9pm and with no problem by the service desk. Brought it back at 7pm only to find out days later that Im stuck paying almost $300 extra for an unauthorized day Will NEVER rent from this place again, and will warn everyone I know to steer clear. They are scammers and thieves, plain and simple. Im hoping that legal action can be taken.

Customer service was horrible. Employees were on their phones. Never looked up to say hello. Was more rude when they realized I was there. Gave responses by shrugging his/her shoulders. Did not provide full information when asked. Talked over me and tried to correct me about something I was saying to my friend. If this is how Arizona runs their businesses ...I’d say stay away!!

We reserved a convertible for the week. It was cheaper than other economy vehicles! Nus instructions were easy to understand. Service at the shop was exceptional. Andre checked us in... he was GREAT!! He greeted everyone, was very friendly and pleasant. Much welcomed after a long travel day. He even created a list of suggestions for food and bars in the area. I would recommend Nu, and Andre for a promotion!

One star is generous. The rep at the check in counter could not have been more dismissive and rude. He spent almost 30 minutes chatting with someone about spirituality, while the check in line got longer and longer. Then once it was finally our turn, he gets argumentative about us declining their ridiculous add on insurance. Then he adds fee after fee and gets smug that we did not accept the fees being added. Someone like this should never be employed as a check in agent. The shuttle driver was the nicest guy ever but unfortunately that can not offset the disgrace of a rep. His attitude should get him fired. This guy is not even adhering to their own mask wearing policy.

RUN FAR FAR AWAY!!! This company is nothing but a scam. Don’t be fooled like we were. They lie to you about needing their insurance only. We had our own car insurance and they claimed by AZ state law you needed their car insurance. That’s a lie! If you have your own car insurance you are just fine. I have rented from other car rental company’s and my own insurance works just fine. It’s another way for them to make an extra buck and steal your money legally. Please be smart and don’t rent through them. Their car rental prices are cheap, but they will rack up the price guaranteed.

Do not rent from this place! On 7-4 I rented a vehicle and the representative walked around the car and took video and pictures. I did too with my own camera as well. I returned the car on 7-7, same condition, and now I have a email with an accident form. The email included pictures of the same scuff marks on the car, before I even took off. I’m calling the better business bureau on them too. What a scam!

OMG I had the most Amazing experience at NU Car rental in Phoenix AZ I had never been there 1st the airport driver was so attentive and friendly . when I arrived I found out the the online company book the wrong car the Jessie the manager stepped in and immediately helped me to get into the right quickly seeing that I had my young child with me. They got me a great deal. My agent Jade was so sweet knowledgeable and caring. She tested me with respect and was also so friendly and kind. Then the young man the inspection walked me through the process talked to me about everything he was doing and took pictures of any issues with the car to insure I would not get charged. Very professional!! I had a family issue and had to return my car early and Man they treated me so well again super kind fast and caring of my family situation. Upfront and fair prices!! The SPIRIT AIRLINES of the rental car industry. SEEMS inexpensive but after all the FEES, youll end up paying waaaay more. (see pic below)My rental was $31/day for 2 days total 62.56. I called 3 times to extend the truck 1 additional day. I was on hold for 25 minutes 2 separate times because the phone just magically disconnected. After I finally got through I was charged an additional rate $230 after the fact!My total was $408.36 for 3 days, for a rental that started off at $31/day.Lesson learned.Youre welcome.

My aunts cane in to visit. This past week and we decided to rent with NU due to the great prices. Unfortunately they are very misleading they give you a rate you agree upon and after you receive your final bill the additional charges never disclosed . Very deceiving not only an inconvenience but never to want to rent with them again. TERRIBLE!!! We had a car reserved for 8pm. Flight was delayed. We arrived at the airport shuttle area at 9:40. By the time we were picked up by the NU Shuttle it was 10:40. We were told they only hold cars for 2 hours. The car we reserved was literally in front of the building and they were closing. There were two people getting cars while I was in line and they got their cars. Myself and the two other people in front of me did not get cars. The employees and the people who received cars were one race and the people who did not receive cars were not that race. My reservation was for $230 and they said they had an alternate care for $340. I would not recommend this shady company to anyone.

So much wrong with this company it’s hard to know where to begin. As the other reviews have stated, the actual rental store front is off site from the airport. You have to walk quite a way to wait in a parking lot for the shuttle bus to pick you up. We were there at about 4:15, and waited for about 20 minutes and no shuttle appeared. We tried calling nu car and received a recorded message that they closed at 4 o’clock. There just “happened” to be a random guy with a car hanging around the parking lot and asked if we were waiting for Nu car rental. We told him we were and he told us the shuttle had probably quit running because they closed at five (he also told us he had a friend who drove one of their shuttles). He told us he would be happy to drive us there for $10 but we would have to get going because they closed at five and it was an eight minute ride. We hopped in his car and made the white knuckle ride to the rental company. Of course when we arrived the doors were locked, but there was an employee out in the back lot. we walked over and spoke with him and asked if we could get a car but he said it was too late because he had already run his reports for the evening, whatever that means? He said we could return in the morning and pick up our rental vehicle. Of course the driver then said he would be willing to take us wherever we wanted to go, for nominal fee, of course. We had no choice but to have him take us back to the airport where we ended up renting from another company for double the price we had intended to pay. We have spent the last week sending emails to the company to get our deposit back and have yet to receive a response from them. My recommendation is to never use new car rental under any circumstances!

Had a good experience with NU in Phoenix. Attendant was helpful and friendly. He did try to up-sale but that is normal for all rental car locations. Ended up adding an extra driver for free. Car was ready and served us well during our visit. Was a long trip from airport bus to NU shuttle but we got there. Ubered to airport at end of trip. Much better. Saved money using NU.

My new car rental place. Professional service, clean cars and great prices. I found them thru Hotwire. Try them I went to the Phoenix Sky Harbor location. Julianna was coming in ready to help with the abundance of people coming in. She did a great job. Made my day 😊Well they just lost a returning customer. Im calling for customer support and when I say the phone ring and then it tells me youre on hold for two minutes then turns into a busy signal. Ive called several times and still no help or answer. 🤬No at all a good business practice.

Do NOT rent with this company! They are off airport, will NOT accommodate any flight delays and their customer service is a disaster. They will keep your money and fight your cc company EVEN though the booking app says cancel anytime online and Free cancellation. If you call them they will say you need to talk to Expedia, Hotels.com, etc. You will lose because they hide their real cancellation policy behind links that you have to click through to find. They kept $431 and never provided an ounce of service, a vehicle or anything and fought like hell to keep that money knowing they screwed their customer. RUN AWAY! I Suggest booking directly with the car company of your choice...as long as it is not Nu Car

NEVER rent a car through Nu car rentals. The gentlemen I worked with told me I HAD to buy the liability insurance even though I had my own insurance and told him so. He said in AZ it was not an option to not purchase this insurance. He also said he would waive the fee for a second driver. Once we dropped off the vehicle to our surprise we were charged for the second driver even though he didn’t drive the entire time and we would not have added him if not promised the free add-on. Also, do not opt for the gas fillup upon return. The sign on the wall stated gas in Phoenix was close to 3.49 a gallon and they have a more favorable price of 3.39. Upon leaving we saw gas was 2.90. I have called 3 times to get this resolved and have not heard from a manager even though they stated someone would contact me 24-48 hours after calling the first time. Also, this car rental is off site from the AZ car rental place. You had to take two shuttles, one from the airport and then a second shuttle from the airport car rental center. This was extremely inconvenient and the shuttle was late enough we had to call to see if one was even coming.

THEY STILL CHARGED MY CC!!!! 5 days later...Im STILL trying to get someone on the phone to get my money!! OMGosh!! This MUST be a scam!! This rental car place is not even located at the main rental car area.. you actually take an additional shuttle to even get here which takes 1 hour of logistics. Once you arrive here you will find a long line and one or two people working. After reading reviews we were very worried however we were pleasantly surprised. Once we figured out where to find the shuttle to get us to the rental car facility it was so easy. The lines at the airport rentals were over an hour long (from what people in line were saying) and we only waited about 15 min before getting the car and on our way. We rented a convertible and it was perfect. We had zero issues when returning it as well. We did decide to take an Uber back to the airport instead of the shuttle just due to time. It is very inexpensive to take an Uber from the location to the airport. No extra fees or anything others have experienced with NU. We would rent again.

The experience was great. As always, the rental car shuttle from Sky Harbor is long. You do have to take a second shuttle after the initial shuttle to car rental plaza to reach NU. The driver was pleasant. Allow a few extra minutes for the second shuttle on returning the car. My car was brand new. Less than ten miles.

Absolutely love this place. Its very convenient for locals to go rent a car without the hassle of going to the airport. Their prices are very reasonable as well. I have rented from them twice now and will continue to do so because of the great customer service and the ease of checking out and returning the car. I have never had to wait in line here (unlike the airport).

Only giving a 2 star because the staff were nice and car was somewhat decent. Other than that, this place is a hassle to get to. From the airport you jump on the bus to the rental car location. Is it there? No! From the rental car place youll walk to left about 300 yards, go downstairs where youll take a van to get to the rental car place that is totally located in the ghetto. And if you have an early flight to catch....well, youll spend more money on a taxi or Uber because they dont open until 6am and provide no service before then.

Ive been all over the country renting cars and this is the WORSE company I have ever come across. I made the reservation in March for a rental the end of May in PHOENIX. Our plane was late leaving and when we got to the airport, there were no signs indicating where to go for a car from Nu, so naturally we went to the car rental location. When I didnt see any signs for Nu, I asked at information. He said youve got a problem, first they arent here, and secondly they are now closed..... (it was 5:15pm) I had to rent a car from one of the locations there, and it cost me and extra $350.00 from what my premium full size pickup was going to be for a full size car instead. Lessen learned, never rent from a no-name place.

BEWARE!!!!!!!Getting into Phx after a long day we couldn’t wait to get in our car and relax. Until we were sent to the parking area where we had to walk and take elevator down to another bus!! Then we piled into bus and the drive was at least another ten minutes 15 with traffic. THEN we waited in line for an hour and finally got our car. Upon returning the car back to the rental place we then had to get on bus to go back to the airport rental instead of to the airport we THEN had to board another bus!!!!!! This is insane! If you save 100$ like we did it was NOT worth the horrid hassle! So spend wisely and skip this company! NEVER AGAIN!!

Never - EVER again. This rental company is cheesy at best and a rip off at its worst. YOU CANNOT take their rental vehicles into New Mexico. My wife and I were planning on visiting parts of New Mexico during our trip to Arizona, but we were informed that none of their vehicles are authorized to drive there! We had to re-plan our entire vacation because of this! The Jeeo Compass they gave us had slow leak on the right rear tire and all the tread on every tire was marginal. If that wasnt enough, the only FOB they gave us started running low on its battery and I had to coax the vehicle to open the doors and start. At one point when we were driving down the road, the dash displayed a warning that the FOB WAS NO LONGER CONNECTED TO THE VEHICLE. You get what you pay for here. I personally will never rent from these people again.

However....They are not located at rental car center!!!!Must take bus from airport to rental car center, walk to visitor parking garage elevator, go down to 1st level walk out to parking lot and wait for shuttle. Ride shuttle to location about 2 miles away! To return car follow above steps backward! Why not pick customer up at airport in the shuttle van and take them back??? I read reviews about NU rentals, about all the issues people having with them, as for me everything went smooth, I can recommend them to my friends . I rented Jeep to drive around beautiful parks, cost me only 43$ . Next time Ill be in Phoenix I will definitely rent from them again.

Customer service at pick up was the absolute worst. Waited in line for nearly an hour with just two people in front of us. When we finally made it to the counter I could hardly understand the agent because she spoke so fast, there was loud music playing in the office, and of course, masks. I kept asking her to slow down and repeat herself but she wasnt responsive. Not only that but she asked us every single question from the reservation and literally re-entered it, so idk why we bothered filling that out to begin with! Car was fine but will never rent from here again because the service was so terrible.

I can’t really believe these reviews! They were easy to work with, super inexpensive, and treated me like family while there. Even got a free upgrade paying less than $30 a day for a 2021 Plum Charger! Cons are they are not located at the airport itself. Later incoming flights or earlier leaving flights are what worry me for future use.

Located very close to Phoenix Harbor airport. This is a rental startup, I guess. The facility isnt fabulous (but I wasnt there to admire the facility.) The people were super friendly and the car was GREAT! On top of that, the overpriced traditional car rental place gave away my reservation and did jacksquat to help. I will DEFINITELY use Nu car again! Good job!

DO NOT RENT FROM NU CAR! I was traveling with my spouse, daughter, and four grandsons. After the airline bumped us into a later flight, I exchanged emails with Nu Cars reservation desk in order to arrange for a later pickup. After waiting an hour in line at the Phoenix location, I was told that I was four hours late and my seven passenger SUV was no longer there. I showed the agent the email with the reservation desk confirming a later pickup time. Just to make sure that I understood that my problem was not Nu Cars problem, the delightful person behind the desk told me that that doesnt mean a thing. If a minivan had not just been turned while I was standing there, I dont know what we would have done.

Very difficult to find pickup at Phoenix Airport, shuttle driver Roger was amazing and he would have gotten them 5 stars. The African American gentleman that checked me in was one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. He seemed put out that he had to deal with another customer, then he went into his insurance spiel, I had already told them I was declining it but he kept on going, when he paused and I said no thank you, he said I shouldnt interrupt the rental car agent until he was done speaking. He then told me my insurance company did not cover me even though I verified before and afterwards. He interrupted me 2x before that.

Shuttle guys were super friendly and helpful! Difficult to find and took a minute to get to where you pick up the car, but not a horrible experience unless you’re coming off a super long flight. Once inside the building, no employees to be seen for 5-10 minutes. Finally a girl walked through the lobby and ignored us. Guess she was on lunch? Car was nice and did the job. Rental lobby needs to take a tip from the shuttle guys when it comes to customer service!

I stood and waited for the shuttle: 25 minutes. I am standing in line at the rental place: 1 hour 12 minutes so far. There are spaces for 4 workers, but there are only 2 people working. The manager just came out and announced that if we are upset at how long its taking, we can thank the government who is handing out unemployment so no one comes to work anymore. Whats wrong with this company? If your employee doesnt come to work, they no longer have a job... simple as that. The people who HAVE been helped are standing outside in the sun WAITING in another line to get their car. No vending machines. No water. NEVER AGAIN! Steer far away from this place.

DO NOT RECOMMEND renting a vehicle from Nu Car Rentals. I should have known better and gone with a reputable car rental but needed to save money. When we arrived by shuttle which took forever, the process to rent took a very long time, the rep was unprofessional and our fees doubled because were were told we HAD to have their insurance. By the time everything was done we were up to what it would have cost for Hertz or Enterprise.Waited for 20 minutes to have our car inspected and then we had a half a tank of gas. DONT use this car rental company.

Set up my rental prior to my visit. Upon arrival to the rental location i told the employee i needed to change my time for return due to my flight change. He told me that it wouldn’t be an issue and would book me for one more day. Long story short.. he didn’t. I got charged a late fee. He lied. Don’t use them.

Shuttles from the airport to the main car rental facility, took a van to nucar, only to wait in line and find out they didn’t actually have the car we reserved. Literally, “we are out of the car you reserved.” Then offered us 2 other options which weren’t close to what we wanted. So we waited on another van to take us back to the main car rental facility. We still have to contact Priceline to get our money back. I don’t know the car rental business, but I feel like if you reserve a car a month in advance, you have plenty of time to either have that car available at your location or at least notify the customer so we have the opportunity of making arrangements ahead of time. We wasted at least 2 hours in this process of getting there, not getting a car, returning and trying to find a new car. Many of the main companies were out of anything that wasn’t already reserved. No wonder the price was better than the main companies, they have no intention of even giving you what you paid for. Not using this company again.

I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews, but I had a great experience here. I believe the sales supervisor that took care of me was Daniel? Great guy, I rented a convertible and they only had Camaros available. He knew I was going to be driving a long distance and pulled a Mustang (bigger trunk with the top down) out from the back lot so I wouldnt have to drive around with the luggage in the back seat. Shuttle service was on time, but it would be more convenient if it was in the rental car area. However there was no line, the rental complex was packed! I would definitely rent from NuCar again.

Horrible! Would give zero stars if I could. Overcharged us by double and the rental car location is not at the regular car rental location from the airport you have to take a second shuttle. Horrible service plus they added fees in after I returned the vehicle. My 3 day $30 a day car rental turned into $627.41. I’ve tried to call multiple times and was on hold for over 15 minutes each time and then it hangs up. They do the bare minimum but charge way too much. I will NEVER rent from them again!

Rented an SUV for our vacation. Had to wait forever for the shuttle driver at the airport...in a parking lot. Finally got to the actual location in a bad part of town...the employees were rude and trying to scam everyone to buy extra insurance, etc. We rented our car and saw it had an almost flat tire by the time we got back to our hotel in Mesa. Went to Discount Tire to get air. The guy told us someone had put a patch in the tire a long time ago & be careful of a blowout. So we called NU..and were accused of running over something and patching the tire. We were also told that WE could pay to have it towed back to them. ...drive back to Phoenix for an exchange. Got an older vehicle with scratches that smells like skunk weed. WE WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. HORRIBLE LOCATION. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Not very good experience. Rude, pushy and unconcerned. Felt like we were troubling them. They certainly wanted to sell their $50 A-day insurance package. It seemed like the pitch wouldnt end. I said no 5 times. Way, way off site, too. Far from the airport. Shuttle driver was nice, though. One time customer, Im afraid. Never again. Two stars only because the car was okay. The only other person that took the shuttle with us was not pleased, either. She went through the grilling, too. We pretty much just looked at each other and shook our heads.

This is a tough call. The car, the customer service and the price were all great. The problem is actually trying to find the place once you land at the Phoenix Arizona airport !ALL airport car rentals are in the same remote building that you have to take a shuttle bus to get to. But once the shuttle drops you off .... NO WHERE INSIDE THAT BUILDING CAN YOU FIND Nu Car !!!Even though its technically there, they are no signs of anything else telling you where to go to get your rental car. No where are you told that you have to take a rather lengthy walk to the parking lot and wait for their shuttle bus. I cant begin to tell you how seriously confusing and frustrating it is !!! Then you call them to see where to go and end up waiting on hold for 15+ minutes.Now that I know what to do, I would definitely rent from them again. But as the first time customer the experience was horrible because of how inexcusably they fail to tell you how to go about actually getting to thier remote location.

I would NEVER recommend this company. No customer service accommodation - as here when flight was postponed.....Everyone leaves at 4 - and you are on your own. This rental car company is borderline fraud and actively violating consumer protection statutes. Beyond the unsafe shuttle experience and rude staff, the company has deceptive pricing.When we signed our contract, the agent indicated the price we were paying at the counter included a $200 deposit and the cost of all fees and coverage. However, we did not receive our deposit back and have now been told that the price paid at the counter did not include ANY coverage, as the agent noted they were added after the fact (simply not true). We added an extra day, which was paid for separately, as part of the additional fees. We have now been charged nearly double what the good faith estimated charges should have been. I only received vague receipts from the company, which did not add up to the total charge.After spending a week attempting to contact the company - which almost all call attempts failed, they even said their system was down and they could not review the account, so to try emailing. I have now been emailing the company (back and forth) attempting to obtain a justification between their invoice pricing (invoiced I had to request) that did not at all align with the contract and appear to be double charging for all surcharges. The customer service has been extremely short and passive aggressive. They have simply told me the contract did not include any coverage or fees (although the agent indicated it did), without any justification.Our entire experience with this company was horrible. Beyond the blatant violation of consumer protection statutes, we have numerous safety concerns with this company.- With COVID-19, the company did not practice any social distancing. They filled each shuttle to max capacity, seating people outside of their groups.- In the first shuttle we rode in, on of our seats had a broken seat belt (it did not buckle); however, they still filled the shuttle to capacity and my partner rode the entire way unbuckled. The second shuttle was missing the interior door panel.Although the company advertises low prices, it is not worth the deceptive fees/contracts nor value and lack of concern for safety.
