Apartment complex is awesome! Been living here for a little over a year and they’re all extremely nice and the maintenance is awesome and respond to requests quickly. Cody is the best and is one of the nicest people i’ve met. He always makes sure your apartment is perfect and always asks if you need anything fixed even when you just see him around the complex. Absolutely amazing guy and the apartment has great amenities as well.
Cody from maintenance has been time after time an incredible addition to slates staff. He is very professional and always knows how to put a smile on my face in all situations. Shout out to this guy for such great service!!
Very unprofessional. I scheduled a tour online and was greeted on my arrival by someone who said I didn’t have an appointment and rolled her eyes at me once I showed her multiple confirmations. She made no attempt to make me feel as though I was nothing but an inconvenience. Her co-worker tried to reschedule me after reiterating that she couldn’t do anything to help me now. It was very off putting and the first greeting was horrible. I would not recommend this property.
Before I’d moved in, I had done so much research on the surrounding apartments nearby and ultimately settled on Slate. The modern touches and huge island we had really reeled me in. Looking back, I wish I’d also focused on the community and management aspect. Slate’s looks fool. The community was often dirty and littered with trash, hallways were visibly dirty and stunk due to lack of up keeping, elevator- filthy. Many packages were stolen from doors and because of lack of security- cars often got broken into. Even after many complaints- Slate did nothing. Very little parking- and with the handful of available parking- slate didn’t use it as guest parking, (which is usually offered for free at other sites) they started to charge a daily fee for those! Tenants were made to pay for amenities that were closed due to COVID which didn’t open up until last month. This place cares only about taking money. They are very unlawful with the move out process and fees but are quick to threaten using their attorneys. Their lease does not abide by landlord and tenant act here in AZ. For any future residents who might read this… heavily consider if this place is right for you and what you may have to deal with. I would not recommend this place to anyone.Slate, notice how my review mentioned nothing in regards to my lease? Interesting how that needed to be brought up when it was not relevant. Thank you for confirming how unprofessional this place is managed. Had the regular cleaning been done as stated- there wouldn’t be a need to mention it in the review. Nice try.
Very dissapointed with the way my lease and move out was handled at the end of my lease. Would have expected a lot more for an apartment management in North Scottsdale and the lack of communication. Poor parking, dirty hallways, amenities closed even when COVID restrictions were lifted.
Beautiful high-rise apartment complex with great views. A cool rooftop lounge and a beautiful pool pool. Other well maintained amenities as well. Friendly and helpful staff all around a great place to live.
My best renting experience. Brenda, Taylor, Michelle, Lindsey are the best customer oriented professionals Ive ever met. Which I have a lot in my 20+ years professional career. The apartments are well designed; noise isolation, Bluetooth surround system, recycled glass (quartz like) counter tops, energy efficient, on site maintenance and emergency staff (even on weekends, which I used and waited 5 minutes!).The amenities are like if you are spending time in a vacation resort. Parking is sufficient and gated. All doors are electronically activated by ONE special electronic key you use in your apartment and all amenities.Alta and more importantly the staff, exceeded my expectations despite my hesitation of renting instead of buying a property nearby. The grills, pool tables, spa, fire place, etc are spectacular.
I have a question: Why is parking such an issue? If you have assigned spots, why arent they yours? Sounds like a management failure for not towing and ticketing. I lived in a place for 9 years in SoCal and never had an issue with someone parking in my spot. However, where they did fail was with property cleanliness. Sounds like there is some issue here with that, too. Why is that hard for staff? I dont understand, isnt that their job to do?
Ultra-modern place with an overall great team that was very kind to me during my time here! The new manager, Sara, has really gone above and beyond to restore value and flare at Slate - trust me, you’re in great hands! From the pool and awesome gym to the prime location nestled between my favorite places (kierland and High Street), this one is a winner! Highly recommend!
First time we toured we couldn’t find a place to park, called the office and were told to park anywhere. Then when we walked in the woman we spoke with said “I told you to park in an uncovered spot,” ... which she didn’t. I confirmed twice on the phone “park anywhere??” And she said yes.Despite the initial interaction, my husband and I went back to tour a specific floor plan and upon arrival were told the apartment we planned to tour was suddenly unavailable because a current resident was moved in their due to their unit being inhabitable (that right there is a concern...).When we walked in the leasing agent didn’t even know what we were there to look at and seemed unprepared for us - even though we spoke with her yesterday. If the unit was no longer available, a phone call AT LEAST would be courtesy after we took our time to come out to the property.Talked with current residents and the parking is just as bad as it seems. Regardless, we would’ve signed a lease today but another bad experience with management turned us away.
The staff are the most amazing staff I have ever met. I was having problems while moving in and settling down, and Chase has been really helpful and I appreciate all the effort they did to help me out.5 star to the crew and apartment!
Slate Scottsdale is a gorgeous community. Not only can the apartments and amenities sell themselves, but it’s conveniently located near so many places to shop, eat, and within walking distance to Scottsdale 101 theatre. To top it off, it’s improtant to feel comfortable with the staff at the community you’re living at. In my personal opinion I can say Slate has a great team that really care about their residents! They’re all very kind and willing to help whenever with whatever. Whenever you stop in to the office, whether it be dropping off rent or picking up a package, I’ve always been greeted with a smile and been in good company. If you’re looking for a nice community with an awesome staff in a great location, I recommend Slate Scottsdale!
Beautiful property and apartments. The parking is a nightmare which they are working on fixing. Until then, expect to use Uber a lot or wait 2-3 hours for a tow truck to move someone from your spot. If you dont have anxiety, you will once you start dealing with parking. If you are single with no friends and no vehicle, this is the perfect place for you. Do not plan on having guests over cause they wont have a place to park.Other than the property, Chase in the front office is stellar and will take care of your concerns.Seriously consider the other reviews about parking before making a decision.Oh and everyone smokes weed. Not really a place for a family but more for the 20-30 something business professional.Once the parking problem is solved, then this would be an awesome place to live.
I was blown away by my experience at Slate Scottsdale this past Wednesday. When I arrived, both gentlemen in the office were helping someone else, but they made a point to thank me for coming in and let me know one of them would be right with me. During my wait, I was able to walk around the massive clubhouse area and spoke with one of the tenants who had nothing but amazing things to say about the staff. James Wheeler was the first to finish and come find me. He was professional, courteous, and took time to answer all of my questions. While I ultimately decided to move into a different Mark Taylor apartment, the experience I had at Slate Scottsdale is what set the tone for my search and I wanted to give recognition to that and say thank you!
Great staff great place to live. Chase at the office is amazing, probably the most helpful person I’ve ever dealt with in an apartment. Definitely an awesome place to live for all ages.
If you are single and dont have any friends or family than step right up to the single space parking apartment!! Regardless of how many bedrooms you have or how many people are on the lease with you, only ONE parking spot will be assigned. (I hope they tell you that during the walk through). There are 50 uncovered parking spots but I still havent figured out if that includes the half that are marked and the other half are vehicles that literally sit there for days. Its awful. Literally once you find a parking spot available you wont even want to run errands or do anything because when you come home there will be nothing available and youll be driving around for what it seems like hours. Next, cops are called at least twice a week for who knows why. When the cops are here they often drive around the complex and write tickets for anyone that seems to be in violation.... And thats if you werent already towed! If my boyfriend and I knew about the one space parking prior to moving here we would not have moved here. Now we are stuck.Sincerely,Frustrated resident that cant find parking.
Vacationer here, found this place on TripAdvisor (unfortunate for you FT residents?). Loved my short 5 day stay but if youre a light sleeper this place isnt gonna work for you. You can hear footsteps, water flushing. Amazing pool, beautiful open layout. I could get used to this kinda leisure. 5/5 recommend for a short stay
Let me just start with this, I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! its so much fun, there are kids, and adults, the perfect community for anyone! so nice to wake up, and go downstaires to the clubhouse and enjoy a FREE COFFEE!! i wanna live here forever! the pool is great too. the office people are sooooo nice!
This was an excellent apartment complex until the new management took over. It has gone downhill very fast. Would not recommend this place. There are many other good options nearby.
Best we ever lived in . Great community, great apartments all new equipment. They created it for tenants comfort. The fireplace outside nice place in the morning to grab your free coffee. We love it here
I strongly NOT recommend this apartment. Please read all reviews before you make a decision. Nothing is good with this apts for the rent they are charging. Trust me every single day you will have a terrible experience in finding parking. Big NO NO.
I applied for apartment back in Jan 2017 after paying deposit, which did not move forward with and so I was told my deposit would be returned via snail mail. It is now 3 months later and still no deposit refund. I have called them three times to find out about this and was advised I would be called back. I have yet to receive a call from them. At first when we went to view the property, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, but now, they are less than and not very accommodating in assisting me with my deposit. In addition, they will not refund the entire amount. At this point, they should. There is no reason it should take 3 months to return this... I have been very patient, however, at this point, I will seek assistance in trying to get my Full Deposit back. I disregarded the reviews when viewing this property, but should have used better judgement.
If I could give zero stars, I would. DO NOT LIVE HERE! I lived in these apartments for 12 months and it was the worst experience of my life. Management is the biggest joke I have ever met. One resident was harassing me on multiple occasions so I emailed the lady in charge of the complex. Plot twist: she never replied. In addition, the roof would leak every time it rained and I called maintenance on multiple occasions. One day I almost slipped and fell down an entire concrete stairwell because they are inept at doing their jobs. They could care less about the residents. Furthermore, residents smoke cigarettes in the stairwell and leave empty beer cans. It was worse than living in a student college apartment complex. In addition, parking was absolutely terrible. Slate told residents that our guest need to park across the street at Lifetime Fitness and walk over. The residents are absolutely horrible. I was yelled at multiple times for simply walking my dog because one resident is crazy. I ended up going to court and am in the process of serving a restraining order to the resident. These apartments are way to overpriced. Trust me, DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!!!
We unfortunately did not have a nice experience here. We stayed for less than two months on a short term lease. I wish I had read the reviews prior to moving in.
I have lived here now for coming up on 3 months and I haven’t found a single thing I do not like about Slate. From my own apartment to the community it has been above and beyond expectations. It is amazingly located around a fun & growing northern Scottsdale area. The new managment with Mark Taylor has been at work continuously improving and making sure each resident feels at home here. When passing the office on my way to the gym you see the Managment like Chase, Brooke & Dustin working hard in the office but always remembering to look up and greet you with a warm smile along with a hello. I have recommended this place to friends and recommend it to all whom are reading!
This is by far the worst apartment complex in the area as far as how they take care of situations with their residents. The parking situation is here is probably the worst I have ever seen. There are only 50 unassigned spots in the entire complex and there are over 200 apartments. They expect you to park in one of those 50 spots if you have more than one vehicle in your apartment and there is never any openings unless your someone who doesn’t work or gets home by noon you might be able to find one. I have tried calling corporate several times to try and get answer about getting a garage because me and my wife both have a car and they refuse to call you back. I have called ten times and had the receptionist send an internal email and I have still yet to hear anything. They have vacant apartments that no one is in but won’t let you park in those spots either. I am offering to pay money for a garage so I don’t get my vehicle towed but they would rather let it sit empty instead of letting residents use the amenities they have here. The only person that has been of any assistance is Chase he tried to do everything he could but it is coming from above him. They have no contract with the city for street parking, they don’t have a contract with all of the places across the street so they leave you with no option. If you have more than one car you might as well sell it if you plan on living here because it will be towed daily for lack of parking. Nobody can give you an answer when you ask them a question besides “you have to deal with it and park in one of the spots available, if I’m going to give you the politically correct answer. I know there aren’t any available but that’s all I have for you.” It doesn’t make sense that how in community they would not have enough parking for their residents nor would they provide you with any options or try and accommodate you. If you want an answer you call corporate and you get a receptionist or a voicemail and nobody ever calls you back. Don’t expect anything to change in the benefit of the resident in this community. Nothing but desert all around us but they wouldn’t bother looking into that to expand the parking lot. If your single and have one car you will be pleased with parking and the amenities but if your anybody other than that category don’t waste your time because you spend more time trying to find a parking spot then you do in your apartment. I have already been towed once in 2 months and that’s probably the first of many considering it almost happened today.
The community vibe is cultivated in such a distinct and amazing way. It is awesome to have the opportunity to know your neighbors and feel at home here.
If you notice the reviews of this place that are positive are from before Mark Taylor took over and the recent review thats positive is actually written by Slate Scottsdale.Management is slow to respond and hide in their offices. Theres like 275 apartments but only 300 parking spaces. Not everyone has an assigned spots, some units have to pay for a garage. If you have more than one vehicle youre pretty much going to have to Uber home from wherever you park. My partner and I have two cars so one of uses our parking spot and the other is kind of SOL. When I do find a place to park I just Uber everywhere until I must use my car. Its a nightmare. They close out maintenance tickets without completing them. The common utilities were around $14 and now theyre over $60.I dont recommend living at this place. No one is happy with new management.
This doesn’t look anything like my boyfriend Marks place at all # 275 could be nicer
The worst decision I have ever made is renting at this place. They reel you in with their newness and Urban Upscale Branding, but dont be a fool like I was. I moved in 2 weeks ago. Its been a nightmare since day one. From no parking, to not enough exits or elevators, all i can say is that they designed this place poorly. Living here does not make life easy. And they dont care either. Everyone I meet says the same thing. So we are all just a bunch of fools that are now stuck in 12-15 month leases in this mess.
Please notice that every single 5-star review is from before Mark Taylor took over this complex. Since then, 1-star reviews exclusively. If you have more than 1 car and are planning to live here, don’t. You won’t find parking for the second car. Add 10 minutes each way to your commute when you consider this place to account for the walk to your car, plus the anxiety of possibly being towed from wherever you left your car. Also the gym is disgusting. It’s truly disappointing having to call a place home when you have absolutely no control over something as simple as where you park. Management won’t do anything about it. Don’t live here.
I lived here for a year. The property is nice, I will say that. Some staff is great while others are not, I had several experiences with staff members being rude or unhelpful. Brooke, Chase and Kay are particularly great though. The front end team seems to be a revolving door, Ive lost count of how many people have come and gone which is probably the reason Ive been given so much conflicting information. The parking is limited so it is hard to have guests. If your apartment has more than two drivers its in your best interest to pay for a garage. Ive been accidentally towed from there because I didnt realize some of the uncovered spaces were reserved when they first implemented the parking policy which really sucks. Ive had to park over at the gym several times and walk across the street. Pricing is pretty high for what it is but I suppose thats the cost of living in Scottsdale. There is some riff raff, I saw a drunken old lady vomit in the pool on July 4th once, people love to drink by the pool thus it is probably better for young professionals than families. The halls kind of smell of weed sometimes and the walls are pretty thin so you do hear your neighbors. My mail never got forwarded when I left even though they said they would and every time I call corporate to get a status on my security deposit I conveniently get sent to the accounting dept. voicemail and havent gotten a call back yet. Overall place is pretty overpriced for what it is. Nice property but I cant recommend it for the value by any means.
Ive been living here for 4 months and I love it! The amenities are awesome and the management team is great!
One of the best places Ive ever lived. The staff is amazing, the environment enriching. Place is a gem.
I lived there in 2016-17, when it was called “Alta Paradise Ridge.” I was very sad to move out. (Job changed to min wage.) ...What made it so good? Was it the beautiful landscaping and the pretty desert nature scenery by the pool? (this was before the construction out back)Was it the nice apartment with an amazing new kitchen and new appliances (even high-tech to include USB ports in the outlets)? Was it that great “upscale hotel” type of feeling in the club house area, with games and Thursday movie nights? Was it the awesome gym and pool? Was it the cute doggie washing station? (even though I don’t have a dog, I thought it was still a very cool addition!)Was it the nice staff (Brenda!) that always remembered my name and even which apartment I lived in, even though I was shy?Sure, it was all of that! However, several months after having moved out, I realize what truly made it special, unique and wonderful for me—the apartment complex was so new that there were no neighbors, yet! When I moved in, August 2017, there was no one to the left or right, above or below, or even across the hallway. I could often workout in the gym alone, and sometimes have the pool all to myself. Quiet. Peaceful. It was great. For all of these reasons, it is the best place I’ve ever lived and I will remember the experience forever.
Beautiful property, amazing apartments, and a wonderful staff. Thank you Slate Scottsdale!
As both a new and current resident, i find the personal service, amenities and the apartments themselves absolutely first class. I could not recommend Alta Paradise Ridge highly enough for professionals, families and those looking for extremely well priced living.
I love my place here at Alta. Their staff is extremely sweet and always on top of things. This place feels like a luxury hotel. I couldnt be happier.
After reading the reviews I’m a little hesitant to consider this community as an option. I filled out the “call me” form on their website a week ago and never received a call... hmm, maybe an early red flag.
I couldnt agree more with Shari. New management is aweful! Has altered so many rules in complex. Just decided we only get assigned 1 parking space in the complex while we are a husband and wife renting the apartment and have 2 cars.Usually Im one to just deal with this stuff, and move on, but its out of control.Terrible place if you have kids. Crazy parties out by the pool until all hours of the night on multiple occasions including one where things got out of hand.Neighbors smoke weed which fills enclosed hallways.... again, not great for my 4 year old. They asked me to call the police and get a report since his is banned on the property. Upon doing so the police told me the managemtnhere is obviously clueless since they couldnt do abything about the issue even if we were to know exactly who it was. Have had multiple crazy fights where a neighbor had thrown her boyfriends things out into the hallway against the wall, which is my apartment.Have had to call property security multiple times.... the number the complex gave me. Have never had anyone show up.I could easily go on about his for many more paragraphs. Save yourselves. :)Also... Im updating this... love their response. The solution is what I came to complain about. They are totally clueless.
Everything in this Apartment Bldg is first class. The staff is fabulous
RENTER BEWARE!Maybe the people moving out on the day we were moving in should have been a clue to tell us to get the hell out of there ASAP. They had only been open since March, yet there was someone already wanting to move out of there by June.We decided we would try things out at this apartment and sign a lease for a year (we bought out of our lease 3 months in). There were only a few reviews on Yelp at the time, and every single one sounded the same. That these apartments were just like a resort! Oh yeah, definitely just like a resort...The residents are loud, rude and they have no respect or a care in the world for anything. There are beer bottles, Starbucks cups and trash thrown all over the pool and bbq area. Not to mention, its ALWAYS crowded with a bunch of young adults who are wearing thongs around and jumping around on their large inflatable pool toys. The front doors to the individual apartments are extremely thin, and you can hear EVERYTHING! You have a valet trash service that residents still cant seem to follow the rules for. Cigarettes and dog feces are all throughout the grounds, because apparently its too difficult to clean up after yourself and pets. On one occasion, someone refused to let us use the elevator and told us to stair it up to the 4th floor. The parking lot is filled with self entitled brats who think they can constantly take up two parking spaces. And forget buying a parking space, because someone else will end up parking there anyways. The apartments themselves have never been lived in before and are brand new. Oh, but that doesnt mean they are built well. It was built for quantity, NOT quality. The countertops already had chips in them in multiple places. There were spots on the wall that had a different color paint than the rest of the wall. There were paint stains on the hard flooring and the carpet. We paid extra for the larger fridge, and the ice maker didnt even work. The handles on the bathroom sink were extremely wobbly and would just fall off. The hot water never worked. I would have the sink run forever, and still it wouldnt get even warm. The doors did not shut or lock how they should have. You could just push the door right open even if it was locked. The garage we paid for, had a huge patch they were supposed to fix, but never did. Oh, and the only outlet in the entire garage is on the ceiling. We had asked for a ladder, yet all they gave us was a small 3 foot ladder... to reach all the way up onto the ceiling. Makes sense right?Living at these apartments and having to deal with the awful residents is what made us want to move back to California. We decided to buy out of our lease, having only been there for 3 months. During this time, is when the staff and managers true colors showed. We had paid the early termination fee and the last portion of the rent. We packed up and moved out on the 29th of September and handed in our keys. We moved back to California and a couple weeks later, we emailed the main manager Michelle asking when we would get our $400 refundable deposit, along with our $150 refundable pet fee... and she said all we would get back is $168. Now that just doesnt make sense to me at all. It states in the lease they are BOTH refundable, yet she is being bitchy and rude and telling us that she isnt going to give us that money back. We have the bank statement to prove how much we paid. Also, on their online rent portal, it shows how much we paid... but now we have no access to it because she deleted everything that was on it. Theres also hidden fees, but they dont tell you that either.Living here was a nightmare.RENTER BEWARE!
A very safe and fun place to live! Close to everything!
I completely agree with Jeff. Parking is terrible.
Parking after 4pm is terrible. I’ve been living here for 2 months and everyday I’ve parked 2 miles away from the complex because parking at the gym or ninety degrees is prohibited. Please do something about this.
Terrible parking experience.Katie, please create a strategic partnership with Ninety Degrees or the gym right across the street to allow tenants to park in their lots.
Wouldn’t let a man move in just because he was colored smh
Love this place.
Parking sucks!!!!!!! Leaving for that reason
