Absolutely horrible.Booked a car through Expedia for a vacation in Orlando. When we arrived, the agent said that a credit card was required for incidentals. I told the agent that I didn’t need additional insurance because I have my own insurance. They said they understood but that it was still required but that I wouldn’t be charged. They then had me sign the contract and I again verified that I wouldn’t be charged. Again, the agent said “no”.After returning home from vacation, I was billed an additional $374 for incidental insurance. I have tried repeatedly to resolve the situation through their customer service department but they state that I signed the contract and would not refund my money.I understand that I signed the agreement and realize my mistake. However, when they looked me in the eye and says there would be no charge, I believed them. While I still hope this situation can be resolved, my experience thus far leaves me doubtful.
After a stressful day looking for reasonable prices from different companies Dollar was able to give me the exact price I found online, the agent was polite and answered all my questions, the deposit was reasonable for florida resident and the process was quick and easy. I also liked the option to pick the car from the lot having different car model options. Drop off was easy and the lady was polite too. Overall I had an excellent experience.
We picked the car from Orlando International airport. The experience was absolutely marred by1. Failure to recognize my girlfriends NJ provisional license2. The salesperson pushed us to buy additional itemized things that was absolutely NOT required. But you only want to push as much at 2am.3. Website said a type of car being a mid size car, but the salesperson said it was only available at full size. The add ons were so much so that a $200 car was made to $790, before finally settling for almost close to $400.Lies, pushbacks and intently spending time was enough for us never to register for dollar again.
I would give this cancerous company zero stars if possible. Do not use this company! Specifically told the representative we did not want insurance, we did not want the gas add-on (allows you to turn it in without filling it). She put it on there anyways and never told us the total. So we start driving and find out she did indeed charge us but they were closed. After waiting to talk to them they then tell us to go back to the airport where the vehicle was rented from (2+ hours away) to redo the contract for the days not used. Deceptive company.
Scam Alert: Charged over $1,200 for a 7 day sedan rental with 186 miles. Told by Dollar employee that the charges would be vastly different, otherwise I would never had rented from them. At MCO, the airport Dollar rental desk only has a keypad for signing and a card terminal. Fees and charges are discussed and signed for prior to the receipt and full explanation of charges are presented. Their business model is deceitful and dishonest. They prey on tourists who are unaware of their sneaky tactics. You will be highly disappointed in their customer service and their confusing rental process. They require several security deposits which they maintain will be refunded, and its only a security policy. I am yet to see my $500 security deposit to be refunded. Be aware of their poor rating with the BBB and an extensive history of legal disputes within the last decade, mainly regarding over inflated and undisclosed fees. I believe that these same methods of deceit keep their business running. I warn you to not rent from Dollar because you WILL be scammed by them.
I would give negative stars if I could. We waited in line for over three hours for a car. I was very nice when we finally got to the front. So much so that Dul the guy at the counter told me how pleasant I was. We noticed that our travel agent had booked us for a midsize SUV which I didnt think was going to be big enough so I asked if there were any standard size that we could upgrade to. I had no problem paying for this. We literally just needed a bigger car. Dul said, because you have been so nice I will upgrade you for free. Wow, how nice of him. He then proceeded to tell me that we did need to buy the insurance for the standard size though which would run $400. I told him that we have insurance and we carry it on any car that we drive. He told me that Florida is different and that my insurance will not cover this car in Florida. I argued back and said again that Im pretty sure my insurance will cover in any state. He again said that Florida is different and we needed the insurance. Feeling forced to buy, we went ahead and did it. We had already been in line 3.5 hours and just wanted to get out of there. When we got to the garage to get the car, Jose asked to see our ticket. We asked where the standard SUVs were and he said, You didnt get a standard SUV, you got a midsize SUV. We explained how Dul upgraded us for free and the insurance, etc. He said, No, Dul played you. He didnt upgrade you. He was very upset at Dul but went ahead and gave us the upgrade. After we left, we checked in with our insurance and realized that we had been lied to (of course) about having to get it. When I got to our hotel I called Dollar Rental. *IMPORTANT* There is no local Dollar Rental number. Everything is through a Customer Service number and they can not give you a refund of any kind. I ended up finding this the hard way when I called and was on hold two different times for an hour each (during our vacation) and then was told nothing could be done. They said I needed to go to one of the stores. I ended up finding a Hertz customer service number and called them. Hertz and Dollar are owned by the same people. Hertz said I could go to ANY Hertz and get a refund (since I didnt want to go wait at the airport again). The next day, my husband went to a local Hertz and waited in line for 45 minutes (again on our vacation). They would not do anything for him. I called another Hertz and they confirmed that Hertz could not give us a refund but that I could go to ANY Dollar Rental and they would. We ended up driving 30 minutes away to go to a Dollar Rental that again said they could do nothing for us. They said we had to go back to the original Dollar Rental. We finally drove back to the Orlando Airport and went up to counter in the garage. No way we were waiting in that line again. The girl at the counter was very pleasant and modified our previous contract. We felt relieved but were still unsure that we were actually going to get that $400 back. Because we had to run all over town (during our vacation) we ended up missing a family get-together. We felt the pressure of getting this taken care of AND we spent the rest of our week wondering if we were going to get duped again. We did end up being charged correctly a few days after we got home. I will NEVER rent from this company again. I feel so taken advantage of.
100% do not recommend this rental company. I booked through travelocity online and paid in full (or so I thought). Usually when I pay in advance for a car I just go to the counter and they have me sign and then give me the car. This company had a $500 holding fee. That was because I used my debit card. I didnt bring a credit card, but I was told it was only $200 on credit card. The woman at the counter was rude and kept talking on charges. I paid $100 on top of the $500 because it turns out there were other fees or taxes that we did not pay for online somehow. So right off the plane (even though planning ahead was meant to save us money) we were charged $600 right off the bat. We had a toddler with us and the baby equipment rental waiting so we didnt have the luxury to just cancel and shop around for another rental. Most likely we would not have gotten a refund anyways.
Their “customer service” dealing with a defective rental is horrible. Wish I could rate it zero stars. After 4 long days and countless hours of trying to get ahold of the emergency roadside assistance with no luck, we finally decided to patch up the rental this morning and visit a nearby location since no one was picking up on the emergency roadside assistance just to be told to drive a flat back to the airport and there is nothing they can do. Spent a good amount of money on Disney tickets with reservations so it looks like I’ll be using my own time and resources to actually enjoy our family vacation. Dollar Car Rental has made our enjoyable family vacation into a stressful nightmare and will never be renting from them again if I ever manage to get my rental back to the airport.
Worst rental service especially at the airport. One of the counters was closed and people had to walk all the way around to the other terminal with just a couple of employees working. The employees were not welcoming and i had to pay more than my prepaid price. The return was more disgusting with an arrogant lady accusing people on their face. Definitely would sue them if not for a hurry to catch the flight. Definitely not recommend however cheap the rental is for!!!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLEStay away please, We paid 500 dollars for a convertible and when we went to the garageThis so rude, unprofessional disrespectful and very annoying guy told us “No, you are not getting your convertible”Then we asked. Can we get a refund, he said, No try your luckIt is a living nightmare,Please believe my words use a taxi do anything but don’t don’t don’t DONT rent from this place. You would have to stand in line for 2 hours minimum and you will be turned away after paying hundreds of your hard earned money.Honest suggestion. The Worst, Absolutely Worst car rental on the face of earth
After a two hour drive to the airport and two hours on a plane, we reached the dollar line only to find out we had a long wait ahead of us. We were not pleased at all with the hour and forty minute wait. After being at the counter for 5 minutes and a walk to the parking garage where the cars were, we quickly realized there weren’t many midsized vehicles left. We are thankful we got a car because I’m sure many of the people behind us did not. We did reserve and pay ahead but we learned our lesson to never use dollar in our future rental cars.
All in all everything went fine until I forgot to leave the keys in the car during drop off, so I called and was advised to just mail it back within 24 hours which I did the only problem is they added $250 to my bill and promised to release once they received the key, unfortunately they lied and kept giving me a run a round... all in all I dont deal with DISHONEST PEOPLE.
Insane line at mco, nothing but issues from start to finish. Undisclosed fees, and forget about the reserve your time slot because the car will not be ready. I was told maybe I shouldnt pay ahead next time. Probably so they could hide more fees, absolutely worthless.
Dollar rental, similar cost to other rentals just a Dollar quality.unprofessional, slow, long lines with no one at the desk and a pieced together pathfinder that has been in accident and repaired by a backyard mechanic. also, as we Arrived at 10pm they requested a prove of insurance that states it covers rental, the insurance offices are closed and were standing there after a long flight with 4 kids. they changed the price by adding more fees that was not disclosed. READ FINE PRINTS I was told.Later we received 2 bills of near $200 for 2 toll charges on different roads totaling to $11.50. there was no one at the toll station and they did not bill us the amount to pay, just paid it it charged my card near $200 including FEES. $179 fee for 11.50 charge.
Weve rented from Dollar before with no issues. But this location has some scamers working for them. The associate did a bait and switch with the insurance. We asked for the cheapest insurance for the rental, which the associate acknowledged. But my wife and I later realized that he charged us almost $40 daily for the insurance. My wife made multiple phone calls and was told to go one of their location to dispute the issue. We tried going to different location (because we were not near this location) and was told that they can only do it in this particular location. We spent part of our vacation looking for locations and trying to deal with issue, to no avail. So, when we returned the car, we spoke to one of the associate in the booth. The associate was very condescending to my wife and I and ended up not helping us. Just be aware of any additional fees.
They try to charge you extra fees after the car is returned stating that the car is airport property and liability insurance. When they only tell you upfront that there is a $200 hold on account until the car is returned. I would give zero stars if I could just so people do not get scammed.
Worst experience ever, not even 1 star deserves. Flat tires, had to replace a air tire valve, then found roaches, 2 days after that flat tire not repairable. Road services assistant agent telling you that the you could verify if it was repairable if not it could be change, and I was going to get reimbursed. When I got the car back at the Orlando International Airport, the agent that received the car, saw the roach dead on the back passenger. Made the annotations on the car that had roaches, when yo talked with the agent and he flat told me that the road services assistant was wrong and they were not going to reimburse me for the tire replacement. When calling the agent on the other end of the line was trying to help me, giving me a $50 voucher, asked for a Manager and only told me that they are not answering call and can give me a voucher for $100, for future rental.
No Star is what I want to give them, their professionalism level is zero. The most annoying part is they deceive you about the quote and when you return the car, they give you different price as a receipt. I think the government should investigate this company. The lies are too much, everyone is complaining about them.
It was a terrible experience with this company. They charge you cheap in expedia and then you want to put more payments ($ 150 more) also the customer service was horrible! I come from Atlanta GA I am a lawyer and I know my rights, my boyfriend lost his license and showed the temporary one and they did not want to accept it OMG! really? If my money is not reimbursed, I will sue the company. I ended up shoeing my insurance
Excellent cars and easy to get an upgrade. Be sure to join the Dollar club. You can bypass long lines at counter and go straight to garage. I always use dollar. Youll be satisfied with your rental.
Watch out! Bait and switch company. Reserved a Dollar rental car on priceline.com the managers special quoted price 245.00. I get to the counter and the sales person say we only have this tiny car a Ford feista. Would you like a full size? Thinking he offering a free upgrade. Instead charges another 225.00 to my credit when I returned it. Payed about 435.00 for a rental car for 5 days.. could of found a full size for much cheaper.. dont fall for the classic bait and switch.. Horrible company will never rent another car from them again. I suggest you look elsewhere yourself. You have been warned.
Scam alert!! no wonder they have bad reviews and the person that previously left a scam comment is telling the truth. we booked our reservation through Alaska Airlines and paid 194.76 for then the representative in the airport try pitching for insurance and other add ons which we refused. Upon returning the car we got a receipt of additional 450 for the insurance and other add ons which we refused but was added because according to their representative “we signed”the contract!!!! so please save yourself and avoid this scammers!!!
July 4, 2021, time is 3:30 pm, 68 people ahead of me. Other car rental desks are not as crowded as Dallas and thrifty. Waiting more that 20 min and line is not moving forward because only 3 assistant in duty. Rest of the 6 desks are closed. When reservation made, car rental company knows how many people they are expecting during the day and time frames. Very poor service. Stay away!
The recent reviews of people complaining about long lines are not untrue. The line was ungodly long. But besides a few off property rental car companies, Dollar and Thrifty have the best rates. So naturally they’ll have the longest lines. Wanna save money? Well guess what buddy, you’re not the only one. Long lines happen for discounted goods and servicesThat being said, there was probably 150-200 people in line when I got there. But there were a total of 4 people working the Dollar/Thrifty counter and I waited an hour max to get my car. If the staff were stressed they sure didn’t show it. They were still professional and courteous. One thing that I thought was kind of cool was that whatever category you pick for a rental car (I chose “mid size SUV” they have quite a variety of cars in that category and you can choose any one. I chose a Jeep Compass Trailhawk. It’s a 4x4, has leather seats, and Apple CarPlay. The car was comfortable, drove beautifully, and performed decently. Only downside was the fuel economy sucked but that’s Jeep’s fault.Overall though I was happy with Dollar Rental Car and I’d book with them again. My only suggestion is they get more capacity to handle such long lines...I did see some empty unoccupied counters that didn’t belong to any particular car company they could use. Otherwise it was a good, smooth experience
Only a single employee. So I understand she can only do so much. But when the line takes 2 hours only to get to the desk to find out there are ZERO cars available, this is unacceptable. Shouldve at least made an announcement.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. LITERALLY WALK INSTEAD. Rented a car from there. They told me they needed my credit card for a deposit. I get my bill and they CHARGED ME FOR INSURANCE I DID NOT WANT OR NEED. They also charged me huge administrative fees for tolls. I called them and spent hours on the phone trying to get my money back. They would not do ANYTHING. I called my credit card they could not do anything. ****FINALLY I contacted the Florida ATTORNEY GENERAL and they helped me so much. I was finally refunded my money. If you have issues with this company contact the Florida Attorney General. You can fill out a form right online.****** This has been going on since April and its July......so it takes time.
STAY Far AWAY....... Stood in line for over an 1hr 30 minutes to start. Prepaid Reservation for Dollar Car Rental Orlando Florida 7/10/21-7/18/21. Late evening onJuly 14th the hood on a 2021 Ford Explorer that was rented fromDollar suddenly popped open as we were driving and shatteredthe front Window. The warning indicator came on and as weslowed to figure out what was happening the hood just flew up.Thus leaving the car undriveable and unsafe. Early, July 15th we calledDollar roadside and were on hold for over 57 minutes. We wereinstructed that a tow company would come and get the vehicleand we could go get another vehicle from the airport. We optednot to get another vehicle but to have it towed. On 7/23/21 Ireceived an invoice from Dollar charging me for additional 5 days(over $500) for the rental. I was told that even though the car waswith the Tow Company I was responsible for getting it back to theairport and had to pay until they returned. Roadside assistancenever mentioned that to me. I was not even given any informationon the tow company. They are now charging me for the 5 days that car was with the company they used to tow the vehicle. As the tow company returned the Vehicle on 7/23/21. Customer Service told me since they could not rent the vehicle as it was with the tow company I am responsible. But mind you I prepaid for the vehicle and did not even drive it the entire time. I just want to be refunded for the additional 5 days. I am not even asking for 8 days.
We had multiple issues both with the car we received and the customer service given. Besides the very long wait at the airport for pick up, there was a sudden downpour of rain on the second night we had the car. At this time we were driving on a highway and attempted to turn on the windshield wipers. The wipers were erratically moving and completely popped off of the windshield all while the rain was heavily pouring. At this time visibility was practically zero and we had to stopped several times on the highway and wait until the rain lessened. There was a time when we were splashed by a passing car and due to the already heavy rain and low visibility of not having wiper blades, we almost crashed. On top off all this, when we returned the car to the airport at Dollar/Thrifty terminal A, we were met by a rude employee who’s response to our complaint was that they “have hundred of cars we can’t expect them to catch everything [issue]”. The danger we were put in because of this defective car did not seem to matter. This employee (Jose- Dollar return section worker on morning shift) was also very aggressive and told us to go back where we came from and don’t come back when we were upset by his remarks. We are very disappointed with the service we got at dollar car rentals at orlando international airport. This has greatly affected our likelihood of renting a car with the company again.
Poor sales persons, only two working and there is a huge line.Shame on a company that treats employees and customers like that.I have been waiting for one hour and still have another 40 minutes to go.I called the 1800 number to cancel my reservation but they hung up on me.Shame. Treat your employees better by hiring more workers to cut line waiting in half.Same goes to thrifty car rental as it is the same issues
Zero stars for me this place sucks. Only put 1 star because they would not let me put this review without giving atleast 1 start... Line was like 3 maybe 4 hours long. I called the number for the DOLLAR CAR RENTAL inside Orlando International Airport to see if people with reservations had to wait in the long line and was told yes. I was also told eventhough I had a reservation they could not guarantee I was going to get the car I reserved and they also said they could not guarantee that there would even be a car available for me by the time I would get to the counter. WHAT?? I have a reservation and its first come first serve even if someone doesnt have a reservation. Needless to say I was in and out at ENTERPRISE. Thanks ENTERPRISE YOUR THE BEST!!! F*** YOU DOLLAR CAR RENTAL!!! DOLLAR CAR RENTAL you are NOT GOOD BUSINESS!!!!
Watch out if you have a child. I was charged $98 for 5 days for a booster child seat. It is a ripoff. I made a mistake and for convenience decided not to carry my younger ones child seat to save me some luggage. Overall service was also not good. I guess you get what you pay for.
Horrible experience. waited forever in line to rent car. They tried to bait and switch with the size of car...trying to upsell to a larger car and make more money. Then the kicker....they added a $340 Loss Damage Waiver in tiny font and never mentioned it. I noticed it 1/2 way thru vacation and called customer service (there is no phone number at Dollar-MCO that you can call)....youll have to come back to where you rented it to fix this, which was hundreds of miles away and not feasible. I come back to the airport when its time to fly home to check out the car and they refuse to take the charge off. These people are scammers and thieves...stay far away! Wish i saw these reviews before renting! I saw previous reviewer went to the florida attorney general to get help and thats where im heading next. Hertz owns Dollar, so you have to go through Hertz customer service for any kind of resolution, and they have not responded to me yet, 2 weeks later...so attorney general is next step.
We rented an SUV through Priceline and paid the bulk of our rental through them thinking we owed less than $100 at pick up. When we got our American Express charge for miscellaneous charges through Dollar it was more than our original car agreement. We were told there was nothing that could be done.
Worst experience ever! Took 2 hours to pick up the vehicle which there was zero other people ahead of us. It was just the employees from hell taking it too long. The lady was very rude and did not know anything. They are now charging for tolls we did not take. There is also random charges such as customer facility charge for 36 dollars. Do not use this company unless you like people stealing from you and that are rude.
If i had the option to vote zero stars i would. Dollar rent a car is so unprofessional they have so many hidden fees which is not listed on there website. the basically scammed us please do not rent from them they will ruin your trip.
Everything was nice but the car was not cleaned or sanitized had to do it myself was very dirty when they gave it to us
2.5 wait for a car I reserved a week ago. They need to get a better process! Never again
Most expensive car rental of my life. Airport signage is terrible. After a we landed close to midnight, we stood in the dollar rent a car line for 2 hours. Finally got to rental at 3a.m. If you drop your rental at another location beware it’s $200 drop fee. Contact me if you need to know where to send refund, I deserve one.
The car I rented worked perfectly, was clean, and not expensive. After everything was said and done my bill was cheaper than the original price before tax, that was the best thing after we had landed and got home. I received the bill and the price was lower, that was just the best because I think we all worry about getting ripped off with rental companies. These guys were honest, and generous, I wil be a return customer in the time to come. Thanks again dollar rental.
Still waiting, over an hour, in line. 5 people to check in 150+ of us in line. This is absurd! Never again. Trust me don’t do it, pay the extra money. No line at Alamo and Enterprise. Never in my life and I’m pretty sure we’re going to get covid from the non existent social distance. Run from here don’t rent this place, don’t do like me and find the horrid reviews too late. If you read someone saying they didn’t wait they lied or work here and are trying to build up the review score. BAD BAD BAD :::edited 3/7/21 just turned in my car and everything else was perfect. My truck was brand new with only 90 miles on it and I was not charged any extra fees. I declined all insurance and was not charged for it. So other than the inexcusable wait, it was good! Please for gods sakes add more attendants to the counter. We were greeted by 10 in the garage and 4 at the counter and I’d have to say was another odd thing they’d take care of 2-3 customers and take a break, we literally were all going to apply for a job because it seemed like they were getting a break every 10-20 minutes.
We live in Orlando, and needed a 6 cylinder to drive to the Smokey Mountains Tn. We rented a truck in advance for 9 days. The wait in line was only 10-15 min. not bad at all. When we got there they did not have a truck. I wish I could remember the lady who helped us. She worked hard to get us a 6 cylinder. We ended up with a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was wonderful. Very happy with our experience with Dollar.
This company gave me a rental that was dirty and needed breaks. After fighting with them upon car return to take off the bs fees im seeinging now they are charging me for tolls we paid for in cash! Im disputing charges they apprently did in may and now again today. Tolls charged monthly? Avoid these people they have a lot of hidden fees.
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!! I can’t stress that enough. Not only did we have a 4 and half hour wait for our rental. When we returned it we found out they messed up the charge on our credit card and charged us twice and then we got hit with $600 in hidden fees. I have never had such an awful experience with a rental company.!
Probably the worst car rental company ever wait time is unreal. Also the guy out in the parking lot giving out the cars (David) has zero costumer service and his swapping people car to car with out sanitizing them, cars are dirty and all they care is to bring the car back with full gas tank mention it like 10 times.
It was an amazing experience. Everyone was exceptionally great from beginning to end.
Super long wait time and added fees that I was assured over the phone would not be.
Super long line 2 hours wait and deposit is 500 if you use a debit card plus add fees that I wasnt informed of after I already paid to have my rental reserved online. Ill save you the trouble go with another rental company because dollar is trash!!!!
Worst car rental service Ive ever experienced. 3 hours in line. And I was lucky.
Only one guy working the front. We’ve been reserved for a few months and currently have been in line over an hour. There’s probably 75 people in line waiting
Staff could be friendlier. Cars are good but insurance is ridiculously expensive.
Vehicle I got had a shake in the steering wheel at highway speeds, check engine light, rough idle at lights, electronics were acting odd (radio stayed on when car was off, headlights stayed on another time), what looked like blood stains on the headliner, and when the car barely started on our third day I decided it was now worth the hassle of exchanging.I was given $41 for the gas I put in it just before returning it. It dawned on me that it was likely a crashed vehicle. Though I thought that rental companies arent allowed to do that. Just an assumption that it was though. Seemed like everything pointed to it.Spent a lot of time on the phone and waiting in line for the exchange. More than $41 compensation would have put me at peace. Our exchange car is great. Similar mileage (30k). So that first car was a real lemon. I told them it shouldnt be on the road. Im glad we made it back to the rental agency. In Orlando Ive used a couple other well known on site companies and had no flaws. But at this time dollar was significantly lower in price. Like I said, probably a lemon car. But really frustrating on a vacation to deal with. Not sure what Ill do if dollar is the cheapest in house next time.
Absolutely horrible! 2 hour wait!) With 3 to 4 employees working the desk. This was between 1 and 330am. Never again! 70 people on the line!!! Disgusting!!!
The woman working at the Dollar rental counter in the Daytona Airport, that calls herself the supervisor, on 7/17/2021 is very rude and either unaccommodating or unknowledgeable She is horrible
RENTERS BEWARE! Had our online reservation ready to go as we found the Dollar counter we saw at least 150 people standing in line which started for us at 11 pm on a Saturday night and still standing in line at 2:30 am Sunday morning, the only person working behind the counter announces to us that they only had 9 compact cars left. Our reservation was for an SUV which obliviously was given to someone else as my Husband and I were taking turns standing in the ridiculous line while our Boys were having to lay on the floor!! Why do a reservation when Dollar just gives your reservation to someone else??? We had to get a taxi at 3 am Sunday morning to get to our Vacation home rental then after only 4 hours of sleep Sunday I had to try to find another rental car agency. I contacted Dollar which I had to make 2 calls Sunday morning and the first call, the representative could careless then I had to call back a second time to find out that our reservation number did not exist anymore, funny because I did for the first call I made. Must have been deleted!!! Thanks to Dollar, we were without a vehicle till Monday morning after we finally found one and were able to start our Family vacation!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL WE RESERVE AT DOLLAR, they had people calling corporate office as we were standing in that hideous line and people videoing how long the line was. People who did get a car told us as they passed they the line to leave they waited 4 hours to get a car!!!
This was my first time renting from the Airport at the age of 25, I was so nervous! for my self because a lot of people have different problems with rental company’s I can say when I got to the counter at MCO the guy was very nice! He also upgraded my vehicle to BMW X3 with no extra charge I was very pleased, most likely I will book this car company again for future trips.
Do yourself a favor and rent a car off property. I’ve been in line for an hour and there’s no end in sight. They have one person running a counter with a line fifty people deep. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT DO THIS! Rent off airport property. I had no idea or I would’ve done that too!
Two people working a counter at 6 pm on Mon night at MCO with 100 people in line....its already been over an hour waiting to pick up the car I already paid for. Its not like they didnt know were were coming. All the other counters are fully staffed (Enterprise, Alamo) and no lines. I wont make this mistake again.
People that work here are doing the best they can. But for Gods sake the lines here are deathly. I waited for about two hours in line. The time spent in line is just not worth it.Edit: if it were possible to rate negative stars, this would be a negative 5 star review. if you drive on a Toll road with a dollar rental car, stop and pay the toll, don’t use the easy pass. Because this will happen. I don’t know in what world it’s acceptable to charge a $70 administrative fee on a $10 toll, but bottom line whatever the Dollar executives are smoking, I want some.
We reserved a compact car and when we got to the garage there were none available. One was being cleaned out and the lady said we could just take it. When we got in, the car had a musty odor but we didn’t think anything of it. Later, we found a bug crawling and it turned out to be a bed bug. Once we got out of the car we found multiple bugs on our clothing and spent our entire evening trying to get rid of the bugs and on hold with customer service to get the situation fixed. They eventually came and got the car but we were still forced to Uber all the way back to the airport the next day to pick up a new car, which took time out of our only full day of vacation.***UPDATE*** We attempted to get reimbursed for our belongings we were forced to throw away and the rental car cost since we did not even get to use it as intended. The only thing they offered us was a $50 voucher for a future rental which doesnt even cover the full cost of the rental.
The car was perfect, no complaint on that. Line to get the car took 50 minutes, only two people attending, that’s not a good service.
Fast service. No waiting.
The lines were so long when we went, it took forever to get the car. We also experienced issues with the key fob, sometimes we had to reset it to get the car unlocked. Very stressful.
Super Bowl weekend the line was extremely long. The speed and level of service I received was OUTSTANDING! I will definitely be using their service again!!
Came to the airport with my reservation number for them to tell me ... there is no more cars left?! So what’s the point of reservation. The man on the phone politely let me know that if no car is available I could wait for one to be returned because the location is open until 1am if I don’t want to wait they can provide me a full refund? Neither of which help me solve my problem of having no vehicle. Horrible customer service clearly don’t honor reservations
They dont list a number- only a corporate number. The corporate staff have limited answers, and told me to call the rental location specifically (a number not listed publicly). Best of luck!
Welcome to Orlando! Now wait *1.5 hour in line* (no joke) to get your car, almost as long as your flight. Because thats how Dollar treats its customers! (They also undercut competitors by lowering online prices but fail to hire the staff to support the increased business, and charge you a huge cancel fee if you try once you see the line).
Thank you to Jasmine for helping us out, Expedia did some weird booking.
Great customer service
I am in absolute AW of the EXCELLENT customer service that I received today by Osil. My 19 year old daughter was stuck at MCO Airport due to unforeseen age restrictions on rentals with paying by debit card. He spent HOURS trying to resolve it while me, her mother, was stuck in Michigan in a complete panic. He went on to explain that he had children her age and completely understood. You just dont see this kind of customer service with such care and compassion anymore. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Osil!! You will never know how appreciated you are! I would recommend this company over and over again!
Wait for two hours in line, they claim a weather event was the cause.
The line was extremely long! I felt the car rental experience was below average for the price we paid. Do yourself a favor and use their the “FastBreak”service.
Im impressed very good service and kind agents.
They added the insurance although I didn’t want it nor request it, they also added an upgrade although l I choose the wild card and was told I could get an upgraded car. There practice of price gouging is unfair. Make sure you read your whole agreement before even leaving the airport. I will never rent from Dollar or the affiliated companies ever again.
Great prices and nice selection
Took great care of me.
NEVER rent with them, and if you, do not go through Expedia. A nightmare after a long day of traveling. We followed the signs to the rental car pick up area in the parking garage, but that is not where you need to go. Back inside to find a line of 150 people. None of the other car rental places had a line this long. The line did move quicker than expected, and after an hour we made it to the desk. My husband was delayed a day because of mechanical issues with a United plane, the car rental was in his name, but paid with my credit card. Because I booked with Expedia the guy at the desk “couldn’t” let me add myself to the reservation. They said I had to call Expedia directly. Stepped to the side, called Expedia, the representative said she had to call Dollar to add my name... Dollar couldn’t add my name or allow me to pick up the car, but said I could cancel and rebook the reservation for $200 more than what I originally paid. I canceled and got a full refund from Expedia. I left without a car and Ubered away from that nightmare. Should have canceled when I saw that line and spared myself two hours. Spend the few extra dollars and go with Hertz or Enterprise.
Can I give negative stars? I rented a managers special from the Dollar website which guaranteed a midsize or larger. I got to the counter after landing and he told me I had to accept a compact. He badgered me about the insurance and asked if I wanted basic or premium. I said neither, I will use my private insurance. He said that is not acceptable and we will bill YOU for the full price of the car if anything happens and you can deal with your insurance. He also bugged me about tolls even though I told him I had my Sunpass. We went to the garage to the compact section and one car was missing the keys, one was locked, one had a broken front seat (would need to lay on the ground to drive), and the other two were Chevy Sparks and could not fit one suitcase. I spoke with garage attendant and showed him my manager special reservation and he let me take a midsize. The counter guy was an ahole. I will never rent from them again.
Over an hour wait and didnt have a car large enough to accommodate our family despite having a reservation.
Line was disrespectfully long. Although reserving and paying for our car online, we waited in line well over an hour for a 5 min checkin. Just to go outside and wait another 30 minutes for our car to be delivered. Dollar is inadequately staffed. With the amount of reservations they had, management and or membersoff administration should have either adequately staffed for the day or personally been there to help. It was extremely reckless of them not to be prepared. The company was catastrophically Understaffed. Dollar is the definition of POORLY managed. While being serviced, we thanked the present staff working so hard and apologized for the company being badly managed. They were appreciate for their hard work being recognized and sadly informed us that two of the 4 desk workers were getting off soon which will slow down the progression of the already stalled line. In addition to this, one worker expressed that the police may have to be called when the customers find out they very well may run out of cars. You are better off renting a car from Stevie Wonder. Do yourself a favor, pay the extra money and rent from a professional company because Dollar is NOT it. I wish I could give Negative stars.
Long lines (way longer than any other rental company at the Orlando Airport). Poor customer service from desk agent. Outdated POS (point of sale) equipment; swiping was the only option and the reader wouldnt read my magnetic strip. Chip and/or tap to pay was not an option. The desk agent was going to turn me away because their readers wouldnt accept my card (have had no other issues with my card being read anywhere else); luckily my wifes cards magnetic strip was less used so it could be read. However, this cost me and additional $13 a day to add her as a driver just so that we could use her card to pay. Hidden/non-disclosed fees (did not disclose the additional fee for using SunPass). The poor customer service was the most frustrating part of my experience. Not worth saving a couple of bucks to put up with the poor service. 1 star is really too generous of a review, but Ill give it to them for providing me with a valuable learning experience. Lesson learned: spring for the extra $ per day to rent from a different/better rental car company.
The entire process of renting a car through Dollar was amazing. The staff was so friendly and the vehicles were great! We ran into some issues with a flat tire in Tampa. We were able to make a quick exchange at the Airport. The cars are affordable, clean and get great gas mileage. I will continue to rent from Dollar! Thank you!
Dollar rental has the best rates and top of the line customer service. Ive rented from other places and dollar rental is by far the best. Make sure you request your rental at last 24 hours in advance or you have to show a return plane ticket. Im now a rewards member and for every week I rent a car I get one day free. Im saving up until I get a week free. Last bit of information....every time I call customer service (to extend my rental) the reps are always so nice and helpful. It makes me happy to know there are still businesses out there that care about good customer service
NANCY WEINSTEIN is the sole reason for the review. Very good customer service! Give her a raise and promotion! We left a wallet underneath our rental and when we noticed the car had already been taken to a separate maintenance location. Nancy made many phone calls hunting it down and prevented it from being stolen. Thanks Nancy!
Amazing customer service! We landed late in Ft Lauderdale Airport and the rep went outta his way to make sure we get a car we wanted. Even got a free upgrade to an SUV. Definitely will be using Dollar rental at the airport.
I came an hour before my reservation because my plane landed earlier. The lady asked me for a second id for debit card which thankfully and surprisingly I had. She then made me show a flight that matched exactly as the return time I listed. I was planning to just add additional days to my trip as needed for business, I didnt have a set return time (I had a return flight purchased but it didnt match up with my rental time and she wanted that changed). Thankfully I could easily book a refundable flight to meet her standards. Then the car rental total was $300 more than the price I agreed to when I booked, even had different rental rates. She talked to her “supervisor” who said I had to come back in an hour at my exact rental time to get the same rate. I said that is bogus, I rent all the time for work and as long as you keep the same pick up/drop off time, the rate doesn’t change. They insisted so I left the long line, called 1800# and of course could easily change my time and keep the same rate. Then I had to wait in line all over again, an extra hour. I had a 4 day rental and tried to add 2 days which is when I found Dollars bogus policy of having 5+ more days charged as a weekly rental . A week is 7 days, not 5 or 6. I got a new reservation. This agent nor the second one asked for a return flight or second id as the first, which tells me she is just new or was trying to give me a hard time. My second car, the air conditioner didnt work in Florida in 80 degree weather. Would not recommend Dollar
Line to obtain previously rented/paid for car was literally 200+ yards(2.5+) hours long. No communication by staff to people in line or any assurances that reserved cars would be available if/when you waited if out & got to front of line.
Spent 6 hours in line getting a car I reserved online.
Only two Dollar People for hundreds of people. The line moved one row per half hour. There was a three hour wait to get your car on New Years Eve. If you are coming during a holiday. Pay extra for the other expensive car rental companies if you value your time.
Very nice people and great customer service. I reserved the Nissan Armada and they didnt have it so the upgraded me to the tier 6 Ford Expedition Max with turbo charged engine and Im considering extending it because the sport mode is fun 😂
My experience with the customer service was very bad the customer service was very rude a Spanish lady that was in line with us who was from Orlando got to rent a car with no problem we was right behind her and the lady told us we had to have a flight to rent a car with them when I went to explain to her that that was not in the email she told me yes it was and we can read it right there if we had a problem I did not like the customer service there and yall need to be more clear on your policies
