Absolutely do not trust this dentist as both my husband and I had negative experiences there.In the summer of 2020, we chose to schedule with this office rather than our regular dentist as our regular dentist had a tight schedule due to prior COVID closures. I guess it shouldve been a red flag right away that while other offices were well-booked, this office had plenty of openings.My experience wasnt as bad as my husbands, but they left the cavity sealant rough and to the point that it was chipping off. I didnt realize this while at the office since I was numb and had to return the same day once I did realize.My husbands experience was much worse. The dentist told him he had several cavities that needed work and which would need work over the course of several appointments. My husband did not fulfill all of these appointments luckily because one of the fillings that this office did ended up going rotten inside and becoming extremely painful in under six months and had to be redone by our regular dentist. Furthermore, when my husband returned to our regular dentist, the dentist told him that he did not see additional cavities that needed filled, despite this office having claimed that there were.This was already a negative enough experience, but I recently called regarding a bill for these services. When I called about the insurance coverage, the office told me that the insurance did not cover one of the fillings done on my husband because it had previously been done. When I asked why this office redid that filling (my husband didnt have any tooth pain or noticeable concerns with it, unlike the fillings that this office did), they simply said since it was our first appointment there, they didnt have his history. Regardless, they should be able to have enough know-how and integrity to be able to determine whether a filling genuinely needs to be done.If you want to avoid unnecessary dental work as well as poorly done dental work, I would definitely recommend going elsewhere.

We were regulars at Canyon Gate Dental with our kids and thought they were a great dental office. When Covid hit they decided to charge each patient $15 per visit and failed to let their patients know this before hand. After a cleaning the receptionist let me know that I would be charged $15 extra for the visit. I told her that I had never been informed this and she pointed to a little sign they had made that was sitting on their desk. I told her that they had texted me 4 separate times prior to my appointment, once to inform me that I needed to bring my own mask - why couldn’t they have informed me of the additional fee in any of those texts? She had little to say so I paid the fee. The dentist (Dr Young) called my husband after he had called to complain and told him that he was sorry about us not being told before hand but that he wouldn’t give us back the $15. We called Maughan Dentistry in Orem (because of their awesome reviews) to see if they were charging a Covid fee and they said “Absolutely not. We’ll swallow the cost before we charge our patients.” So of course we switched over to them and have had great service since.The insurance ended up covering the cost, but the dishonesty that we felt had taken place was concerning. It made us wonder what else they were dishonest about.

Dr. Young is such a personable dentist, not only does he care to genuinely get to know you but gives you the most conservative options to save your teeth! His assistants are always friendly and are always making sure I’m comfortable! The Hygienists always do an amazing job cleaning my teeth and always talk to you as if you been friends for a long time. And finally the front office are on top of prices, always letting me know the prices of procedures before they begin, and do a good job knowing my insurance information!!!🙌🏼Truly this has been one of the best dental teams you could ask for!!!!

I chose this place as I recently moved and needed a new dentist. I love Canyon Gate Dental. They are very kind, honest and they know how to run their business. I love how clean the facility is and how quick the staff operates.I went in to have a whole mess of cavities filled yesterday and I was a little bummed as I waited for 50 minutes in the chair to be helped.However, the dentist and his staff checked on me 3 separate times to let me know why they were delayed and that they were coming. I have a lot of experience in customer service and that is how you make the best of a bad situation. They did all they could to deal with their other patients emergencies causing the delay and still take time to communicate with me. They apologized several times and it was appreciated. It was also very clear they had all staff working at full speed. Any kind human being will understand a delay as long as they know whats happening and can see effort. I also was shocked to get a text from Dr. Payne the day after the appointment asking how my teeth were feeling and apologizing for my wait and thanking me for my patience once again!Stunning. Take your business here!!!

I had an exceptional experience with this dental office. The office did a great job reminding me of my appointment, they were extremely friendly and welcoming once I arrived. They used very modern technologies and made me feel as if I was their only patient. Dr. Young made me feel very involved in my care and explained everything and really took the time to make sure I felt educated about my dental health. At multiple different levels, I feel this experience exceeded any other visit I have had with a dentist. I can recommend this dentist without reservations!

They saw me on a Saturday due to a dental emergency. They are not even my dentist, but I needed someone who was open on a Saturday. Ive been seeing Dr. Payne for over a decade (actually, its approaching two decades -- yikes). He has terrific staff! Dr. Payne is one of the most personable people I know. Hes always concerned about my comfort and gives a very thorough exam. I highly recommend.

Canyon Gate Dental is a great place to go to get your teeth clean and worked on! I have been pleased with their work (I have been going there for seven years). They have good music and the dentist will occasionally sing along. :) I havent met someone yet that isnt friendly and they have reasonable prices.

Would recommend to anyone. Staff is incredibly personable. Dr Payne is great and does great work. If I had to pick a nit they do get busy, so you can do some sitting. But not overly much. Overall I am very pleased with the work they have done for me.

I took my boyfriend here for some emergency dental work. The staff here is great, he really liked Dr. Payne and has said he will definitely go back for future work. The big plus for me was their kids corner, my kids (2 and 8 years old ) were out of the way and entertained for the 2 hours we were there!

Just got done with my appointment with Dr. Payne, and my experience was above amazing! He is a very nice dentist! The lidocaine shots were as painless as they could be and he was finished with my TWO cavities within 45 minute! He was very thorough and was constantly checking on me! The rest of the staff is very nice and helpful too! I would recommend this office to anyone!!!

Haven’t been to the dentist in 3 years, I was dreading it, my fears were confirmed cuz I need like 10 root canals and 100 crowns, which will costs me 1 million dollars or more, but the staff was great and really reassuring and understanding. The hygienists and dental assistants are very professional; cleaning proceeds with great care and minimal discomfort. Canyon Gate Dental hygienists meticulously perform several post-polish rinses so that my teeth feel free of grit and the unpleasant after taste is gone. Dr. Young is intelligent, knowledgable, friendly, and readily answers questions and puts patients at ease. The office also uses modern display and dental technology to great effect. X-rays are processed instantaneously and displayed on a large screen so that I can see how my teeth are doing. CAD imaging facilitates fast and reliable design of ceramic crowns, which are fabricated on site and installed same day. Cant say enough good about my experience.

This is the best dental office you will ever go to. They are kind friendly help you out with finances, when they see you in the store and you tell them your tooth hurts they call you and make an appointment they’re awesome. Dr Payne is the best!!

Dr. Young has incredibly accurate fingers and is hilarious. Every visit I feel comfortable and somehow my smile looks better than it did before I came in. After years of looking for a good dentist I think I finally found the best. Serious quality and they really do care about their customers. They also use state of the art technology to get the job done, as someone who writes software for a living I am always amazed at the quality of their tech.

Called for an emergency and they were able to get me in that day. Every one was very friendly. Loved that Dr. Young explained everything that he was doing. I was even seen right away a few days later when an issue came up that he said may be a possibility. would highly recommend to others.

The dental hygienist was quite educational, which I really appreciated. I loved that they show you your x-rays so you can see for yourself how your teeth are doing. The dentist seems great too. Overall, it was a great atmosphere and I actually (almost) enjoyed being at the dentist.

Ive been to other dentists in the area and have never been satisfied with the customer service or the dentists. Canyon Gate Dental however, is probably the best dental care I have ever received, in or out of state. Their dental hygienists are very friendly and expert at their jobs. The same can be said about their Dentists. The equipment is very up to date and their office is very clean. You can be in and out of their in under an hour with an appointment. I highly recommend Canyon Gate Dental.

I went here for a crown after a root canal, but even after 3 appointments to adjust my crown to a shape that actually works, he STILL was incapable of getting it even remotely comfortable. He had not one, not two, but THREE chances to get it right.I ended up going to an entirely different dentist to correct the crown made by Dr. Payne. This new dentist was able to adjust my crown to a proper shape on the first try. Thats right, their FIRST TRY.For my experience at his office, Dr. Payne was very true to his name, and that is not a good thing. Dr. Payne seems to have a lot of trouble getting things right your teeth are not perfectly strait. He completely relied on various tools as guidelines to do his job, which alone isnt an issue, but those tools were clearly not working for my crooked teeth and he seemed unable to do the job without those tools as a crutch.EDIT: I did not plan to return to this post, but since Dr. Payne has decided to comment, I will further clarify. But first off, I am not mistaken with the dentist I went to for a crown; it was most definitely Dr. Payne because I distinctly remember that it was ironic that a dentist with the last name of Payne had caused me so much pain. I find it extremely disheartening and dishonest that he is now denying his work simply because there are complaints.I have been to Canyon Gate Dental 3-4 times, three of which were (1) to get a new crown, (2) to get the crown adjusted, and (3) was giving Dr. Payne his last change to correctly adjust the crown. To be honest, I forget whether I ever went there for a general checkup, but its definitely where I had the crown done. I only went to Canyon Gate Dental in the first place because I needed a crown and it was one of the few places nearby that accepted the insurance I had at the time. However, Dr. Paynes comment stated that they had no record of those 3 appointments relating to my crown. I am going to give Canyon Gate Dental the benefit of the doubt, and assume that they are just that terrible at documenting appointments, because the alternative would be Dr. Paynes dishonesty and Id rather not start calling people liars. But either way, it doesnt look good for a business.Now to further clarify. Yes, the crown was done a 2-3 years ago (the root canal was done elsewhere), and no I did not post a review at that time because I did not realize how much jaw pain it would end up causing me over the following few months. It was only after the crown was adjusted by a different dentist that I was able to properly rest my jaw.This review may seem angry, but its only the natural frustration of receiving such an experience. I did, however, go back and alter parts of my previous review to sound less heated. I apologize to Dr. Payne if this review has made him upset, but I believe that people deserve an honest review so they dont get blindsided by a horrible experience like I was. I certainly do not hold a grudge against Dr. Payne, but at the same time, I dont feel bad stating that he is hands down the worst dentist I have ever been to. I simply thought it was long past time to post this review. I can only hope that Dr. Payne takes this criticism as a constructive resource instead of the alternative.

Ive been to over five dentists over the years trying to find one that I like. Canyon Gate Dental is the best! Getting x-rays was the quickest and easiest Ive ever had in a dentist office. They use an extra cleaning method that Ive never seen before that leaves your teeth cleaner than ever. I trust them that they are not trying to find a bunch of things to charge me for and the staff is very friendly!

Sadly it had been a long time since going to the Dentist. Ok truthfully it has been more then a long time. But everyone was great, friendly and very helpful. They walked me through everything and answered my questions. Wired to say but I was able to enjoy my visit to the dentist.

I had several referrals to Canyon Gate Dental before deciding to visit them. Now they have been treating me and my family for several years and Im glad I took the referrals. The office is clean and the staff is warm, friendly, and personable. Where other offices have made me feel like Im one of the cattle being moved through a squeeze shoot, Drs. Payne and Young and all who work in their office have taken the time to give personal attention to my health, listen to my concerns, answer my questions, and offer treatments and advice specific to my needs. They remember my history and me as an individual, so we dont have to become reacquainted every time I return for another appointment. If you need to pick a new dentist, consider this office high on your list of options.

This is by far the best dental experience I have had. Staff, hygienists, and Dr. Young are extremely competent, careful, precise, and kind. The cleaning experience is thorough and comfortable---no gritty residue left after polishing. More detailed work (i.e. fillings and crown installation) was done quickly and with minimal discomfort. Canyon Gate has the capability to design, construct and install a crown, all within a couple of hours---no temporary crowns and repeat visits. Canyon Gate Dental has my highest and most enthusiastic recommendation

Loved my experience there. They got me in the day after I called, which was super quick. My hygienist found something we had in common and kept me entertained while she cleaned my teeth. I had a rough spot on my front tooth & the area around my permanent retainer felt gunky. Brette Martinez, the hygienist spent extra time cleaning around my retainer till it felt right to me, she was gentle but thorough. Dr Payne fixed the rough spot. Awesome visit.

Where else can you go for superior dental services AND be sung to? Its true; Dr. Payne (no obvious jokes on his name, please) has a great voice so its fun to have him and his assistants sing and hum while they work. Very relaxing. Dr. Young is also great, and the office staff are friendly and helpful. Plus, now the office offers CEREC technology so you can get your permanent crown while you wait. Love these guys!

I do not like going to the dentist, I have sensitive teeth and I always leave with a headache from the drilling noises and such, but I have been coming here since I was 19 and Dr. Young has just been so nice and accommodating. He is always making sure that Im not in pain. All the assistants are so helpful and friendly as well. This is my choice of dentist for as long as possible.

I love Canyon Gate Dental! They always do their best working with insurance to save you money! Great service and friendly staff! Able to make appointments in the evening once a week. That is helpful when you work until 5 p.m.

Canyon Gate Dental is amazing!! They did all the paperwork for my insurance and made sure I had all the authorizations for the work. My insurance can be hard to work with and they did everything!! I have had 4-5 appointments and every time is how up I am immediately seen (no wait time). Both the dentists and dental hygienist took ample time to explain everything and ensure all questions were answered. I hate the dentist, no offense, but since I have to do it, there isnt a better place!!

Theyre very kind, and something that I personally appreciate is the fact that there is hardly any wait time when you go in. Very good at what they do, and you feel cared about when you go. Great place.

Minimal wait to see the dentist, my first time with this business and it was fantastic. Everyone was extremely friendly and Dr. Young was very thorough in explaining everything about my tooth problem and his recommendations for resolving it.

My wife just started having work done here for the 1st time and is very pleased with the work and Dr. Payne. She has convinced me to switch from my dentist for my next visit. We both saw the same dentist before and she says there is a big improvement in comfort.

I love Dr. Payne and his excellent staff. I am always greeted by name and treated well. Dr. Payne makes sure the experience is as painless as possible and always explains my treatment options before proceeding.

The staff here is so nice and helpful! They will always check-up on you after bigger procedures (crown, root canal, etc.). They also stay open later on Wednesdays which is really nice because I dont have to ask for work off.

Jentry the hygienist is AWESOME! She is gentle and super friendly...my teeth were so clean! Great experience.

I had an abscessed tooth that was extremely painful. The office told me to come in immediately and they would help me. Katie at the front desk told me not to worry about insurance and co-pays until after the procedure was completed. Dr. Young and an assistant Amy (?) were very competent and compassionate. The procedure was completed quickly and I felt immediate relief. It was especially nice to be treated like a person rather than a co-pay. I highly recommend Canyon Gate.

I was seen by Dr. Nick Young who was assisted by Amy! It was a wonderful experience! I revived a filling, which for some people including myself, is a scary ordeal. I felt comforted by the doctor and the whole staff! Dr. Youngs skill set is superb. I would recommend them to anyone!

We had moved to Orem from Oregon, nearly 4 years ago and needed to find a family Dentist. We were a little worried about not knowing where to go. I found Canyon Gate Dental on Google and stopped in their office and scheduled an appointment. The office staff is always very friendly, helpful and courteous. Dr. Payne is wonderful! After doing 2 root canals on my son, he called that evening and left a message, asking how my son was doing. He said if hes having too much pain or anything out of the ordinary to give him a call, and gave us his cell number. We have been very impressed. Would recommend Canyon Gate Dental to any one!

I have been going to Canyon Gate for 10 years and have had a good deal of work done. They are always friendly and my teeth are very healthy. I have no plans on switching anytime soon.

Great dentists. They do their best to help your teeth stay healthy. They are nice and listen to your problems and any worries you have. I have brought my kids here and they do well with kids too.
