If you want a moody, rigid, uncreative and stressed stylist, go to Summer.If you want anything different done with your hair, you will always be told there isn’t enough time . Summer wants to do the easiest, traditional hair, so she can get in as many clients as she can.My first appointment with her, she told me not to talk. That should have been a red flag. I stayed with her for five months which was four months too long.I have been going to this salon since 2018 and my original stylist left. Now I am leaving.

I had a great experience getting my hair done for the first time here recently. I hadnt had my hair cut since before the pandemic and felt very safe going in the afternoon when it was not very full. The salon did a lot to ensure that I felt safe in the environment they created and maintained.The staff and stylist I interacted with were very friendly and overall I had a lovely experience!

Salon Agape was my very first time at coloring my hair. Ever. I loved it. Sharon took real good care of me and her experience working with hair care for over 15 years shows in the work she did for me. TL;DR a) dont dye your hair blue, b) I would not recommend this salon.After some recommendations I decided to get my hair dyed blue here for my birthday. I went in for a consultation and was told that blue was difficult, but it wouldnt be a problem. I asked for a brown to blue balayage and walked out with teal-green hair with brown bits at the top in stripey chunks. They werent blow drying due to covid so I had no idea what my hair looked like when I left. I called the salon back later that evening, cried on the phone, and they booked me for a color correction with the owner.So I went back, expressed concerns about fixing my hair without frying it, and was told that blue was still possible. Bleach was applied to all or portions my hair three times (plus once two days earlier) and I noticed through a mirror that it looked like a stringy rats nest, but I didnt know enough about bleach to know what that meant. I did leave the salon with beautiful blue hair, an olaplex treatment on my head, and a bag of Aveda hair repair products that they also gave me my first visit. However, no one told me that my hair was fried.Its now months later and the top layer of my hair has mostly broken off at all odd lengths. If I dont use a deep conditioning treatment of some sort every day my hair is brittle like straw and I really need to dye my hair back to a natural color for life-reasons but Im scared that more of my hair will break off when I get the color lifted. Once the damage was done I wish someone would have told me what to expect so I could have used the correct products to try to minimize the damage and ultimately that is what has prompted me to finally share this review.

Kathy has been cutting my hair since I started going to Agape years ago. She is attentive, listens to what I want, and is always willing to accommodate. She is very good at what she does. It is rare that I ever wait more than a couple minutes when I arrive. Ive been very satisfied with Agape.

I love Aveda products! Overall the salon is really nice, but the area where you wait for your hair dye to set in is low-lit and not very nice. But they offer you all different types of beverages and chocolates too.

Ive been to Agape a few times for color and cut services. I had gotten my very first balayage done last year, by Sarah (new talent), which turned out phenomenal. She also does a great job with cuts. Unfortunately the last time, the color didnt turn out as I had wanted (I wanted a more chunky balayage but it ended up looking like a color melt as the highlights were too blended for my liking). I was expecting the color to fade out over the next few days to what I had envisioned, but sadly it didnt.They have a very strict policy wherein any kind of corrections (color/cut) must be done within a week from the service. I had called on the 7th day (was out of town before that) to see if I could get my color corrected but the salon staff told me it wouldnt be possible as it was too late. The manager of this salon, Mia, was very accommodating and personally called me and allowed me to schedule an appointment as I was not satisfied with my color (balayage retouch). I was able to come in on short notice, and get the service done by another stylist, Heather. She was fantastic, had a great attitude and was very pleasant and patient. She didnt make me feel bad at all about wanting a redo (in the past, I have had stylists that sulk and make you feel as if its your fault the color didnt turn out right and that theyre doing you a huge favor by trying again). I was there till close and really appreciated Heathers cheery demeanor throughout. She did a great job and the result was exactly what I wanted.Thank you for providing exceptional customer service! Ill continue coming back here and highly recommend Heather.

I absolutely LOVE this salon! The service I receive here is above par and my stylist, Summer, is the best. My hair is always looking top notch when leaving. It is a relief to finally find a place that is consistent and always does a great job. The Aveda products are great on your hair and are the best.

Everyone i have met at this salon is wonderful, from reception to stylists. I am always getting compliments on my color and hair cut. The facials are wonderful too. I never have trouble getting in for an appointment and if my stylist is booked everyone goes out of their way to accommodate an appointment with someone just as wonderful. I used to bounce around salons, but finally have a place i love to come back to!

I’ve been going to this salon since it opened. I love the Aveda products. Gentle on the hair which I have highlighted every three months. Monique and Lisa are my favorites but their staff is excellent from front desk to hair washing.

Heather is the best!! I got my hair cut by her twice, and I got a full balayage the other day, and she did a fantastic job. I have Asian hair so sometimes it can be a hit or miss, but shes very professional and precise, and I love how my hair turned out.

I have been using the salon for few years now. I have Sara and Heather do new growth touch up and have been very happy with them. They both take time and extra care to provide a great service.As I read in other reviews below, the reception desk needs a lesson on customer service though. Sometimes I get a rude receptionist while trying to make an appt.

Shannon is my stylist - I followed her from another salon, and will follow her to the ends of the earth if I have to. Ive gone through more than my share of stylists because Im so picky. I have long, fine hair, and I like my highlights a certain color and depth. Shannon nails it EVERY TIME. I went from all one length to one day telling her to do something new, and that I trusted her judgment. She gave me the cutest cut Ive had in years, and now I get more compliments on my hair than Ive ever gotten. Its easy to work with, while looking a bit more high maintenance than it really is. Shannon is an artist, loves what she does, and appears to be somewhat psychic. I have NEVER left an appointment with her disappointed. And, dont even get me started on her wonderful personality...!!! I just cant recommend her highly enough...

I usually see Jackie but forgot to book ahead and she was was booked up for 2 weeks. So I saw Haley (new talent) who had time available. Haley included a mini scalp massage during my shampoo which was heavenly at relieving the stress in my scalp and neck muscles! I got a great trim of my layered cut that Jackie had created during my previous visit. My frizzy curly hair was blown out and smoothed with advice given on products and the order of application to keep my hair from frizzing. I always feel welcomed by all the staff. Great salon for hair and spa treatments.

Ive been going to Agape for about seven years and Gina has been a lifesaver. I have curly hair and she does too so she has never given me one of those high maintenance cuts that would require straightening to look decent every day. She has also done my color for five years and really listens to my input. (When I dont have an opinion, shes also helpful!) Ive only gone back to her once for a recut. It was free and no one gave me any trouble about it. She just wanted me to be happy. They are in a bit of a lull with the front desk staff because some really incredible people (knew who I was whenever I called) moved on. Even so, if you have any trouble, talk to Gina. Shes the owner and she will MAKE it right. Sister really cares about customer service and shell take care of you.

Summer is fantastic. Possibly the best stylist Ive had in my life. Recently moved out of state and I am realizing that the service and smile I always received from Summer will not be replaced.

I chose this salon because of the wonderful reviews that I found online. However I wouldnt describe mine as a wonderful experience. The customer service is well below average. Four people were at the reception when I walked in, but no one even acknowledged my presence and I was confused who to speak to. That was definitely not welcoming. Analisa worked on my hair. She did her job. I do not have any complaints about her. She was not particularly very friendly, but she was not rude either. After I was done with my haircut, I went back to the reception to pay. The receptionist did not show much interest, again. In fact she did not even look at my face while talking until I left. I would assume that small salons owned by individuals would have better customer service. I am not going back again. I would have loved to give two stars, but I think one star is fair for a place that doesnt want to make its customers feel welcomed.

The front of house needs to work on their hospitality.As a first time client to this salon but a long time client to Aveda salons, I did not feel the typical welcome I am accustomed to. I walked in and was told that they would let my stylist know I was there. No hello. No how are you. Furthermore, it was a rainy day and no one offered to take my coat, or the usual offer of tea or coffee.Okay. Not a good start. But I was willing to see it through. I waited for twenty minutes without word that my stylist was late. After five more minutes I left. As I was driving down the highway to go to another salon they called about thirty minutes after my scheduled appointment to get me in the chair. I told them it had taken too long.After I called back later to complain, the manager called me dishonest. Maybe I havent been in Novi in awhile, but I feel like this salon is a far cry from the Aveda salons I know and love. Just so you know, all I wanted was a hello, your stylist is running late, would you like some tea? Thats all it would have taken for you to have my business.Get it together, and dont call your customers dishonest. Its not good practice.

Went to get a toner (no finishing) and they wanted to charge me almost as much as I pay for color and highlights.

I booked an appointmant to do my highlights with Lisa. She was very good, amazing color and she understood immediately what i wanted. The result was so natural that no one thought i had highlights done. The only negative part was the unpleasent feeling in the saloon, people were cold and unfriendly, never smiled, no one word of conversation. Very unusual for first time customer to be treated in unfriendly way. I may come back but i think i will keep going to Macys saloon in 12 oaks where they are doing excellent kob and you feel welcome and have fun.Titti

UPDATE - Salon Agape is doing a great job managing COVID precautions. I felt safe the entire time I was there for my latest haircut in Oct 2020. I and everyone else wore a mask the entire time and they spaced everyone so there was lots of distance between. My haircut was amazing, like usual and I was able to relax and enjoy being at the salon.I ended up at Salon Agape for a last minute hair cut before an interview. They were on the way to the interview and had an opening at the right time. I was so lucky this worked out because the stylist I was paired with, Annie, had very similar hair to mine and gave me the best haircut Ive ever had. Since then Ive been coming back for cut and color. Annie does an amazing job - shes helped me with trying new styles and dealing with hormonal changes that effected my hair.Annie is the reason I go there but I really have come to enjoy the Aveda experience at Salon Agape. Ive switched to using Aveda products and I will choose Aveda for manicures if available. The staff is very friendly - I always feel welcome and pampered. The atmosphere is great, especially the new building. I highly recommend.

Dont waste your money. Unprofessional stylists and horrible management. Not a very happy camper, Ive cried every morning since my hair was done. She cut way more than we talked about, i cant style it and the color is a god awful orange :( ive tried to get use to it but i cant and after spending over $100 on my hair i scheduled an appointment for the stylist to fix her mistakes and shortly after doing so she emailed me refusing to correct it. Needless to say i was utterly horrified after such a mad experience with this salon. Thankful to have found someone else at a different salon who was willing to listen and correct this mistakes this rooky made. Think twice before calling and booking anything at this shop!
