They are always fast and friendly! One of the best post offices Ive been to.
This post office is one of the most efficiently and effectively run post offices i have ever encountered. When there are three ladies at the windows they do an absolutely amazing job moving people along at a speed to be applauded! Last visit 12/09/20- i waited in a line of 15 people- and i was out the door in 10 minutes. Exceptional, professional, polite and quick service done with skill and ease- beautiful! Only 4 stars due to the self serve kiosk deposit box always full and not maintained very well.
With the exception of a lack of customer assisting associates (only one person available) I found my visit quick enough, efficient and courteous.
AUGUST 2021 UPDATE:NO internet; CASH only. WHAT the hay? So glad I only use the mail slot in this place.June 2021 UPDATE:WALKED out again, late June, due to LONG LINE.1 clerk waiting on customer with a very long transaction. 7 customers in line with no relief. Drove to Pinehaven.May 2021 UPDATE:THERE is a reason why the overall rating at this place is a 2.5.Friday afternoon. One clerk working. 20 minute wait. Two workers taking package pickups but busier flirting with the male customers. UGH.The quick and perky clerk was not there that day.29406 and 29405 Deserve better! Been trying to use the Automated Postage machine to avoid the germs of a line for TWO WEEKS. It does not work. Pinehaven does not even have a machine or a proper package drop. No postmaster, either. Same invisible manager. JUST SAD.DO YOURSELF a favor and drive up the the road and use the Contract USPS inside Liberty Tax (near Walmart/Dollar Tree). Kay, the owner is absolutely fantastic, even when it is busy.

The actual post office is good, people I have encountered there are nice and have been able to send mail with no problem. All my issues come when receiving mail. I have never had so many issues with packages and mail since moving here. I have specific names in my mailbox on who lives there but Im constantly receiving other peoples mail. I put Return to Sender on the mail but it is never taken. Even when I sit the mail up so the return to sender is visible. Instead mail is pushed through the top. Maybe mail forwarding/returning isnt a service here. One point I was waiting on a package that was out for delivery then I got a notice the package was being forwarded to a different address. Recently a package (birthday gift) said it was delivered but nothing was in the mailbox and the post office just marked it as lost/stolen with no detailed explanation on what could have happened to it or what were the attempts to retrieve it. Just the other day I got a package that was damaged. On top of that I was initially scared because I thought someone was trying to enter my home. I heard the door knob jiggle and then finally my doorbell rang. When looking through the peephole I could she the female carrier walking away, didnt even bother waiting a few seconds to see if I would answer.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST. the so called supervisor Morgan was absolutely RUDE! TERRIBLE customer service and they lost my package.
Been trying to have mailed forward to my new address for almost a month now. Seems like they are forwarding what they want and not taking the mail out of the box which I know some in there. The old neighbor has witnessed it!
My son has a box of returned mail sitting in someone’s truck to be delivered. He did a change of address but it didn’t go through. He figured out that he wasn’t getting any mail and did the research request to locate it. He was told he would receive in two days. Someone has sat by the door for over a week and still have not received it. He’s been to the post office every day to try and retrieve it and is promised it will be delivered today, and it never comes. The employees don’t care or the man that lies to him every day would pull his box and call him to come get it. Wonder how he would feel if he was waiting for a very important document and it was in someone else’s hands to resolve and nothing was done. There were about six other people in the line with the same issue. No wonder the mail service is going down the toilet. Also you can ask for the Post Master’s name and they will give it to you, but his contact information is incorrect online. Guess he doesn’t want to be bothered either.
Deborah (Miss Stevens) really helped me out when I was waiting on a package for my great aunts birthday. She tracked the package and let me know what steps to take in order to intercept it. She truly cared and made sure that it was waiting for me the morning of my long drive to Georgia to surprise my aunt. Everything was a success and no matter what the actual post office is like, (maybe slow at times) they try to separate the lines by package pickup and deliveries and mail going out. I will never forget Miss Stevens and her kindness.
Whole lot of bad reviews, but I have to give recognition for a very helpful experience. Long story short, after a certain company with the initials BB sent my order to my old address and refused to help me in any way, the gentleman (I forgot to ask his name twice) at this office helped intercept the package and had it rerouted to the correct address.
My letter was sent here after i wasn’t home to sign for it. It’s clean the post office officials where nice and friendly I didn’t have to wait to long to be called but it took a long time to find my letter. It took over 7 mins. But I’m sure it was hard to find. So no real complaints
I have lived in N Charleston for several years and I have had great experiences at this post office. The customer service is helpful and the representatives almost always greet me with a smile. All of my questions have been answered kindly. There is usually a line with an array of ages and languages. I havent heard any bilingual employees but they still offer assistance. 3 people are usually working the counter, with one asking Is anyone just dropping off? Noone ever gets out of line for that and the line wishes they would open another register. Kids run around, messing with whatever they can get their little hands on, but their parents are present and are responsible for stopping that. If needed, tape and supplies are available for us last-minute-packagers.I do not make many comments, but I was surprised at the negativity I was reading about this location. I think they deserve more credit for their service.
Great post office
Not sure why everyone else is complaining. Its a post office. Theres going to be a line. With that said, Ive never had an issue with this particular branch. They offer help where they can, or they offer a solution thats within their ability. They have a customer service job where most people want unrealistic results. Be realistic. Be nice. I bet youll get better results.
Absolutely horrible and unprofessional at this moment. Our normal mail lady is out for surgery til Jan., she’s a 5 star. The fill-in carrier has no clue what re-delivery of a package is. Not only could they not handle this small task once, but twice. They should really hire a competent person that can fill their job description correctly and show alittle more concern about it.
I never get my packages they get sent to the Ladson postal office for one and than the postal worker must be drunk because he delivers them to the wrong address. The other day he damages my package before it can be delivered if it goes to N. Charleston I have a better chance of getting it. Also I put in my mailbox don’t deliver a certain name to my box and I’m still getting mail for this person who never lived here!
I scheduled a pick up for a priority package and received a confirmation number. It was picked up Saturday, Feb 23rd. It is now Thursday, Feb. 28th, and the tracking info is still showing that I have only printed a label and not taken to the post office. This was a 2 day priority shipment that is now very late. I cannot get anyone to tell me anything and I cant even file a claim for 15 days. This is the worst service I have ever experienced. I am going to lose money and will have bad marks against my reputation thanks to this fiasco. I mean, at least maybe speak to people with issues like this, as you might actually be able to resolve them! Ill be there in the morning and they arent going to like it thats for sure.
A package I was expecting did not arrive even though the USPS website said it had been delivered based on the tracking information. I called the post office and spoke to a super nice gentleman who promised to find out what had happened and let me know. Two hour shift later, my carrier arrived with the package. Amid apologies, she told me it had been delivered to the wrong house. Gotta say, it was an excellent customer service experience!!
Okay. So heres the deal, you get what you give. I read all these crummy reviews about the lack of service, long wait, etc. for passport processing. I was VERY pleased with my service today. There were two ladies, that were beyond helpful, and I was IN and OUT of the post office within an hour. I signed in at 9:56am (10am department opens) and was taken in for processing at 10:36. If you are positive and upbeat, especially during these crazy holiday times, you WILL get it back twofold. The people working at the post office get treated really cruddy all the time and even worse during the holidays, so they appreciate people that go out of their way to be nice. So be nice and you will get what you ask for. Merry Christmas!Erin
Theyve lost quite a few of my items.....they were never found.
Why is No one doing anything about the poor service at this place? Why have tracking if they dont scan the dang thing. Poorly mishandled packages if you even get them. Then these people dont know nothing when you call or go in to inquire! Youre supposed to feel safe sending and receiving through the post office. Nope not the case. I have never dealt with a more unorganized place before! Packages always late even when they are there!
I am extremely unsatisfied with this particular post office, it is the worst. I put a hold on my mail from August 30,2017 to September 11,2017. When I returned home all I received for 3 days was junk mail. I went to the post office to inquire where my mail was and was told there was nothing in the warehouse for me. I did my best to cover all my bills via phone as I did not receive them in the mail. On October 5, 2017 (Nearly 1 month later) low and behold, inside my mail box was all of my mail. Two late payments later, I was finally able to get in touch with someone at the post office to make a complaint and ask for a letter or my yellow post card I submitted. I was greeted with the usual attitude of an unhappy government employee. I was basically told that if I wish to use this type of service again, that I do so at my own risk. My advice to you is find a neighbor or friend to get your mail for you. These people dont care about you or your property. The women that took my complaint couldnt care less. No apology just as long as she got her paycheck. Oh and move out of the ghetto because customer service does not exist here.
Im going to rate this Postal service a 0 because i have been trying to contact the post office inspecter they never got in contact with me someone came to the post office put my mail on whole which i never request because the individual have the same last name i went make a police report i talk to so many people at the postal service they tell you to call make a complaints i did this is April i still didnt hear back from. post office inspecter yet that is a same
The man who served me the first time was great. I had him check the back for a paycheck I had been waiting on. It wasnt there and he said it was probably on the trust. He offered to have me speak to the supervisor to contact the mail truck! Of course I said no thankyou and opted to wait for its delivery instead, but how helpful! The second time, the lady was helpful and friendly. However, she didnt pay much attention to what she was doing. I gave her my old roommates W2 to forward to his new address. I gave her the address and she threw it in a box behind her and said It will get to old address pretty quickly. I was like, Huh? I had to have her turn around and take it back out of the box behind her and change the address to his address. But when she did it, she changed the street but left the city as Charleston. It was supposed to say Washington, DC. Again she had to change it. This trip I also changed my own address and she said Ill put it in the system today and it should go through tomorrow. It has been 7 days and I have yet to get a moving packet in the mail. It makes me wonder if she ever did it.I hope so because Im waiting for my paycheck which is now 4 days late!
A package I was waiting nearly a month for finally gets delivered to my house and my item is broken. The box has fragile stickers EVERYWHERE and the postman stacked heavy boxes on top of it. Not happy. And they will be hearing my mouth tomorrow. My wedding is item in one month. This item was on back order. Its a centerpiece, I have no clue if I can get a replacement in time. Im livid.
Ordered contacts and never received them. Called the eye dr and they looked it up and saw that they were sitting at the post office for 5 days. Said that they couldnt deliver them and that they had left a note. Um, not sure why they couldnt deliver, I have a front porch. And there was no note. I called the 800 #, was told it was a 45 to 60 min hold time. I held, cause we need our contacts, for 58 min then it went silent and disconnected.
Handed an important letter to be sent out. Never was sent and was lost. When I had to send the same documents out I received no help from the manager or employee I dealt with.
If I could give a negative number I would! My husbands shipment of an exclusive item (that is no longer available) was delivered to another house and the Post Office claims they dont know which house. Then, Im waiting on an order to come in so I can finish sending off items to my family and the order was at the North Charleston location as of 11/8. I still havent seen my delivery! Its been three days! What the heck is going on?! Absolutely horrible customer service!!!
My mail is left outside. My mail and my neighbors mail is constantly being either lost or not placed in my box. Carrier is always on the phone so there is no doubt that our mail is not delivered correctly.I have had major repercussions from not receiving my mail. It has proven very costly and disconcerting. If you call th post office the wait is very long. At times someone takes a message and says that someone will call me back. I have never received a call back.
Because it makes sense to have an after hours self-service but no boxes, envelops or anything else to be able to ACTUALLY use the self-service as if the post office wasn’t closed...
They have horrible service. Rude and put you on hold without letting you finish your statement. MS Debra is rude and if she is a Supervisor she needs retraining. Your automated system is awful.
Fire the stumpy old redhead. She ignores everyone and then when she gets behind a register takes all day for one transaction. End the usps
Paid 26 dollars for a key for my mailbox told to come in 5 days i waited 6 and came no key was told to wait 2 more days guess what i waited 3 still not there. How hard is it to make a key im pretty sure it dont take a rocket scientist but all i know is it would sure be nice to check my mail its not like i can sit and wait for mailman everyday due to the fact i work for a living
6401 Rivers Avenue Charleston Post Office is one of the most unorganized, and incompetent establishment that I have ever had to do business with in South Carolina. I am a travel nurse of many places over the past 20 years, and have never seen such shambolism’s that has a mission that recklessly helps the community. In this amateurish circus arena, a customer can follow the procedures to have their mail on hold and then might receive some mail or no mail at all. A customer can put a change of address request in and this Post Office will use that excuse on previous hold mail. These unsystematic people will also use the old lazy term. ‘We can’t find your mail’ not to mention, hand you someone else’s mail that should have been sent to North Carolina! Last but not least, the slack supervisor will take your number down with the intent to call you back to resolve the matter, and doesn’t. What a joke!!
They have been very good to me as opposed to the mt pleasant office where they were total holes
Worst post office EVER. Sorting is awful, and they hoard our mail until they feel like actually giving us all our packages. OR we harass them to actually search for them...
Lost two of my money orders and had me pay so that they could find them. If I could give a negative 5 rating, I would.
The worst of the worst!!!!! I hope you dont have to deal with this post office location. Lost packages, not delivered, no sufficient customer service. Long lines, seems like no one cares. Very sad.
The worst post office in the Charleston area. So much so that I was warned not to expect my packages to arrive. I constantly receive mail for other addresses and my packages are delivered elsewhere. Management does nothing to resolve issues and does not hold postal carriers accountable. An absolute disgrace.
There was a woman mailing a package to a foreign country, and English was not her first language. Many of the customers in line were making rude comments about her, and then when she left, the workers joined in on a joke about her. It was incredibly rude, upsetting, and unprofessional. Incredibly disappointed.
I would leave a negative rating if i could.mail comes maybe 3 or 4 days out of the week, if that. carrier skips weekdays when he feels like it, never comes saturdays. i have been in to this branch 3 times to politely discuss with manager, have called the postmaster general 6 times and have filed numerous complaints on the usps website and in 8 years i havent received one follow up.
Everytime I need something delievered to my home, they never deliver it. The tracking on the packages are a freaking joke. And they NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. Ive sent 2 emails, and left 2 voice messages and NOTHING. Get it together! Now as Im having to call them and email them once AGAIN, no answer. Says a package I was expecting, was delivered, and it hasnt been. No slip for pick, no nothing. Now the package Ive been waiting for, for my WEDDING, I have to play detective and figure out what is going on myself.
Cant use the self service machine unless your item is ready to ship. Other facilities at least have their stuff together so you can ship a package without waiting on a postal worker. This place is a joke by making you wait even longer.
Worst lines and wait Ever awful.
Expect a wait. Nice people though
Hit and miss on everything. Almost always a line. You can hear the phone ringing, but everyone seems to be working up front. Looks like the ignore the phone to concentrate on the line.Still, it could be the East Bay St Post Office, where the stamp machines are always empty, like is long and employees surly, slow and likely to walk away for a few minutes between customers.
The worst place I’ve been to rude Custer service I rather make the extra 15 mins to go to another postal office!
I went to get a key for a po box. Paid $30 and they told me they will call me back when ready. They never called me and when I tried to call, it was impossible to get someone on the line
I tried calling but no body answered and got there just before closing to pick up a package and they turned me away.
They had a sign posted on the door stating that they would be open until 3:30 on Saturday. I got there at 2:30 and the door was locked! Im upset!
Amazon said package was sent and placed in a parcel box. There is no key to be found to open the parcel box.
Very fast customer service!
This particular office is not good at delivering packages. They dont answer their phone...
I can never reach them! I have schedule a pick up for the last 3 days and they never pick it up!
Our mail is late we havent gotten any mail in the last 5 days
Had a major emergency and their phone is always off. Left a voice mail as well
Bad service, very rude, mean, bad faces, I could say races I have been there two times . I will think twice before I go back.
Always took a short time to be done here.
Unorganized !!!!
