They drove the truck into our house and wont pay for the repair.PACK RAT aka ZippyShell hired BellHop to drive the truck to deliver our pod. They backed into a wall on our driveway.Their claims process was archaic but ultimately they said if we paid a mason to repair the wall and provided an itemized invoice, that they compensate us for the damage. We even signed a contract with Pack Rat / Zippy, but they never paid us back. Its been months and they keep making excuses (it slipped through the cracks for the accounts payable team) as to why they havent repaid us.It feels like working with a very incompetent if not criminal organization. Id recommend using any other mover that you can find.
Do not book with this company. You will be ignored, rescheduled, and not compensated for your loss of time. Moving is one of the biggest moments in life and this company does not reflect this. I was transferred to one of their top service agents and was blatantly ignored while I was talking and he continued typing and didn’t hear anything I said.Sure they are understaffed, but then don’t overbook! We were left pod-less on our moving day. We had to reschedule flights, reschedule paid movers, order an additional last minute pod (which was a miracle from another company) and they compensated us by offering $100 off. We spent far more in rearranging our move date around their screw up.Do not book with them.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PACK RAT!!! THEY ARE A LITERAL SCAM!! They sent us a damaged container with a big hole in the back in which water could enter, and multiple literally duct taped it patched holes. We asked for a new container via a phone call and after having someone pick up, we were put on hold for 5 hours, listening to the hold music until we gave up. Then on the original delivery date, they tried to charge us for the whole $2,500 which we declined, just telling them to get the container out of our yard. They then tried to charge us a $300 delivery fee which we also declined. Now they’re threatening to take the container away (good!) and sell all of our possessions in the container!!! How is this legal?? This company is a total scam stay away from them!
Great staff. The customer service people were very friendly. They answered my many questions and were patient with me. I know I can be a handful sometimes so I appreciate it.
*Edit: (the more I read the reviews the more this seems like a scam. DONT USE THIS COMPANY) We scheduled with them to move our stuff from South Carolina to DC and the day the truck was suppose to be here it never showed up and we called to see what was going on and they said the truck would be here late but never showed up. We called the next morning and they said “the trucks were not working and they are backed up from last weeks orders so they have to do them first” which they didn’t mention that at all the night before. so we just cancelled it and are getting a uhaul. More reliable and won’t straight up lie to us.
I don’t think this company even deserves one star; I’ve never interacted with a company worse than 1800PackRat.I scheduled with them in April, yet they:1️⃣ Were several days late picking up the container from Memphis,2️⃣ Have rescheduled container delivery more than 7 times,3️⃣ Are, as of today (July 28), over 35 days late on my delivery and that’s after several insistences that the container would arrive today.Honestly at this point I’m not quite sure my family will ever receive our clothes, furniture, household goods, documents, etc. They are far too expensive a company for these kinds of delays and horrible customer service.…You’ve been advised.
This place is the most unprofessional place that I have ever dealt with. Had delivery scheduled for 6/16. At 5 pm on this day I called only to find out that they were not going to be able to deliver Rescheduled for delivery on 6/18, no call, no show After many hours on the phone on hold, still no explanation. My three pods were well cared for. All of my items were as good as new despite being transported over nearly 1,500 miles.

As someone who works in retail, I know how important it is for businesses to acknowledge when they have made an error, and both make it right and show empathy to customers. Zippy Shell is a fraudulent, unethical business model. Your initial sales consult will be comfortingly easy, and youll leave the conversation feeling reassured. Then, the moving begins, and youll realize that youve been WOEFULLY misled.If you want to read more, Ive detailed our experience with Zippy Shell below. Otherwise, heres my advice:I hate running. I literally never run unless I am chased. So here I am CHASING YOU. RUN RUN RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Youd be better off hiring a pack of carrier pigeons to move your stuff, theyll be more enjoyable to deal with and more reliable.DETAILS:- After our consult and a lengthy conversation about our belongings, we were ensured that one container would accommodate our belongings. Our Moving Agreement specified a container delivery date, container loading date, and a container pick up date.- The containers were not delivered on the planned date (even though it was confirmed in an email from ZippyShell). Rather, two movers and an empty truck arrived a full business day earlier (5/24) than the date scheduled and aligned on in our moving agreement (5/25/2021). No notice was provided of the change in moving date, nor the fact that the expected pod/container was not being delivered. Upon calling ZippyShell customer service on 5/24, we were told that we had no choice but to move that day, and that they could not accommodate our scheduled moving date (5/25). Little effort was made by ZippyShell customer service to right the experience. They offered us $100 off, a wholly unsatisfying attempt to remedy the error, as both myself and my partner had to take an unexpected and unplanned day off from work. I have seen no invoice showing that the $100 off was even applied to our bill.- Halfway into our unplanned moving day, the movers alerted us that our belongings would NOT be able to fit into the planned single container, as the associate ensured us would be the case. Not only did ZippyShell neglect to take responsibility for misleading us, they could not ensure a second container. In extensive conversations with ZippyShell, they told us that they could not get a second container to us until 5/26 or 5/27, days after our scheduled move out. We were closing on the house the morning of 5/26, and could NOT be in the home past 9 AM on 5/26.- With NO help at all from ZippyShell, the gentlemen moving us personally decided to help us and retuned to our home with the second container, as ZippyShell refused to work with us, even though the situation was entirely due to ZippyShell’s own errors. Further, we were made to pay incrementally for the second container – AND we were charged updated freight/transportation costs.Think it ends here? I wish. The move-in process has been even more infuriating. We were supposed to move into our new home on 7/15, and so far are on day 5 in an empty apartment despite multiple verbal scheduling conversations with the ZippyShell team to confirm the move in date. They decided to book our move in on 7/23 without consulting us, or considering that we have JOBS and need notice to be able to take off work. This leaves us in an empty apartment having to eat out and sleep on an air mattress (that alone costs $100) for over a week -- nevermind the actual medical damage they are causing me, as I have a fractured back that requires specific care. OUR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL BODIES HAVE SUFFERED AS A RESULT OF THIS COMPANY.Theyve offered me $150 for the inconvenience, despite the fact that Ive spent nearly $6K with them when I was originally quoted $2,400.WHAT. Same issue with every other review on here - they sent us a text the day of (6/24/21) stating that the truck broke down. They then said that the containers would be here (6/29/21), but couldnt be picked up until 7/2/21 (after we closed and needed to move). This is NOT a local company - the trucks are from all over the country so dont book this company unless you have a VERY flexible move schedule. The senior resolution manager was silent when I asked her how she would react or what would she do if she was in my shoes with the moving & storage company cancelling within 5 days of having to be moved out...This company is an absolute joke and a fraud - avoid at all costs!!!!!
I initially contacted 1-800-Pack-Rat 10/30/2020 for a mobile storage unit to be delivered to my home. It was scheduled to arrive 11/2/2020. I was never contacted. When I called in I was notified that their truck had broken down and I would need to be rescheduled. I was then rescheduled for the following day. Again the same thing happened. The truck is still broken and my appointment has now been rescheduled 5 times. At this point I’m beyond frustrated. I don’t understand how they are able to operate a business this large with one truck. Please don’t waste your time with this company.
Scheduled a delivery for 6/24/21. Got a text at noon on 6/24 that the truck broke down and my delivery date had been changed to 6/26/21. This isnt a package I ordered from amazon, this is a pod to move my stuff that I specifically needed on the date I requested because that is the day I need to MOVE OUT. Absolutely ridiculous.
Our stuff is over a week delayed. We keep calling and someone at headquarters tries to help us, but they can never get anyone in the Charleston office to answer. I think Charleston packed themselves up and closed down with our stuff.
The worst company I’ve ever dealt with. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. They are unresponsive, unprofessional and just downright incompetent. They weren’t even going to let me know my move was cancelled until I called a bunch of times the day of! THIS COMPANY IS ESSENTIALLY MAKING ME HOMELESS BECAUSE I HAVE NO WHERE TO GO ONCE MY LEASE IS UP.

WHAT A NIGHTMARE! Do yourself a favor and just dont book pack rats. All the below reviews are 100% accurate. The company is poorly ran, they are not punctual and have no empathy. We are out nearly $500 due to their truck breaking down. When I asked for compensation and a refund, I was instructed to send an inquiry to a generic email address that may be reviewed by a manager. Justin the facility manager is nice enough, but the fact that this is a MOVING company and they dont have a alternative truck when their one and only asset breaks, is astonishing. I was told that 100s of customer have been affected. HELLO!! If your company is displacing 100s of customers, do yourself a favor and have a backup plan when issues arise.
If I could give them zero stars then I would. Our container never even showed up! It was supposed to be delivered on a Saturday and they finally called us on Sunday at 430pm to say the truck broke down and they couldnt get us a container until Tuesday! We had to be out by Wednesday. Everyone on the customer service line was nice but you cant honestly expect me to believe that they didnt have another truck to ship with. Thats all they do! Not to mention its 2019 and the truck drivers dont have phones to call and let us know whats going on?!
This company is a joke! I have moved numerous times and never had issues like this. They lack of care for the customer. Online container pricing was not honored to start. It was only a $3 difference, so I thought nothing of it. Should have been my warning as it got worse from there! Ordered 2 containers, which were dropped off at the correct time, however, the customer service rep that scheduled my pickup, scheduled one for the wrong date. I was able to get that moved after 2 phone calls. It gets worse. I received a phone call at 5:40pm to say they could not deliver my full containers as promised and pushed the move back. I called to find out why and was told the truck was broke down. Not even an apology, much less any monetary compensation. In fact, I got an email to say there would be no compensation. When they did not call me day of delivery, I got a weird feeling they werent coming. I called from about 12:30pm to 5pm trying to get someone on the phone. Finally I got a manager who said she would help me. She did not! She had someone else call me back to say they had to push out deliver again. Now my stuff is a week late getting to me. I managed to get the original driver on the phone and he gave me the local dispatch number, so in calling them several times, I was able to get them to deliver my containers a week late. I have movers empty them the next day and was expecting them picked up right after that. It has now been 12 DAYS and they still will not pick the containers up!! I called to get my money back again and got a rude Manager on the phone named Juanita who told me I was asking her to do something that could not be done and that I had my opinion, and they had theirs What? it is not my opinion that the containers are STILL taking up my entire driveway!! I should be charging them rent. They were nice enough to tell me they would not charge me another months rent for having the containers longer than one month, how nice. They give you the runaround and are horrible to deal with. Completely disappointing, horrible people work here with zero care for the customer. No one from Packrat should bother trying to contact me now as this is beyond repair. I hope no one else has to go through this and I will make sure anyone I know certainly doesnt.
We got two boxes delivered to move my father.we wanted the boxes delivered to his new house June 18th. they did not deliver and said some one changed the date to the 21st. no one did this. So when the 21st came around they said there truck is broke down and cant deliver till July 1. My 77 year old father is in his new house sleeping on a cot. and eating dinner on a card board box. not only is he inconvenienced, but the people who bought his house are blocked by his boxes in the drive way.this is astonishingly unprofessional. go with pods our units they could not be this bad.

My pod is supposed to be delivered to my new address today and I still have not received a call indicating it’s on its way. Of course they took my money for transporting my pod but I can’t get a definite answer on what time I should expect my delivery. I will make sure to never recommend this company.
Our container arrived at the Charleston location over a week ago and we still havent received it. Today is the 3rd delivery date I was given and so far I havent received any info that its coming today. The past 2 times we were supposed to receive the container, I received a call at 5 pm saying that their truck is broken and they cant deliver it. Even though I called their customer service the same day to confirm delivery. It seems like their customer service team is not communicating properly with the Charleston location. I was promised a call this morning from a manager, which of course also didnt happen.I have been sitting in an empty house for over a week now and 1 800 Pack rat is doing absolutely nothing to help! All they offer is $50 per delayed day and that really doesnt help!
Horrible service. They did not even notify when tcontaimer arrived to facility. They daid 7 yo 10 day delivery. Then the earliest was 17 days. I’m trying to coordinate move with unloaded and for days can’t get anyone on phone. The callback line has not called and it’s been 3 hours.. this is insaneDo not use this company
Had them booked for 2 months and they called at 5 pm on the day they were supposed to deliver to let us known they would be 3 days late. I asked the manager to escalate our complaint (as their new delivery date was 1 day after we closed on our house) and he said “this is as far as this complaint will go.” They have offered no options or alternatives for us. We currently have a house full of things and no where to take them. We have no idea what we are going to do. Do not put yourself in this position. Do not book pack rat.

Company is a fraud i was given a quote called and the price trippled in town less than 10 miles apart andthe price went through the roof sorry not today i chose to go with PODS upfront pricing no hidden charges .
