OUTSTANDING spa and barre classes!! The people at the Customer service/ reception desk is concierge at its Best.!! Women like Brianna go out of their way to treat everyone as VIPs!! The instructors and facility are top notch too! Highly recommend EXHALE to everyone who wants a premiere experience:)
Angela is the best lady for brows! She does a phenomenal job every time and makes sure to exactly what I want each and every time. I haven’t found someone in NYC as talented as her.
I just got a prenatal massage from Laurette and bless those hands. I feel so light and relax after our session. I cannot thank her enough for giving me so much relief.
Came here for yoga and barre classes before and this time opted for a facial. Felt a bit like a rip-off: the facialist kept pushing for add-ons to my original choice, and mind you, no matter how many items you end up doing, she’d finish it within less than an hour (with all the changing (twice) and ushering etc). They also couldn’t explain the exact items or oil they were putting on you and tried to sell some skincare products to use at home as well. A basic facial with extractions plus a peel turn out to be ~$250. This is a rich suburban housewives’ club (they do have locations in wealthy suburbs) and next time I’d try an independent, up-and-coming NYC-based business dedicated to facials like heyday, silver mirror, or glowbar. According to my research those appear to be more transparent & professional, better value, and more suited for the millennial city lifestyle, as they specialize in just facials and one can get done within 30 minutes.
Staff at front desk is incredibly rude, unprofessional, completely ignoring me while trying to check-in while they chatted with each other. When I asked where the changing area/locker room is, they continued to ignore me. Had to ask multiple times before another staff member stepped in to answer the question. The front desks job is to greet people, check them in, tell them where to go. Never seen such incompetence and rudeness.
Amazing massages! Clean and safe! Just what we needed. All of the staff are great. Tia and Veronica gave us great deep tissue massages. Highly recommend!
Britney was so helpful and kind! Exceptional customer service.
Go to Angela for your brows, you won’t regret it! Been seeing her for a year and a half and have always been impressed at how good she makes my brows look and how speedy she gets the process done.
This is not only a spa, its much more than that, its a fitness center, a healing place, a place to make new friends, a yoga studio, and much more. I love this place, not only because of the services but because of the beautiful people.
I came for the first time on a visit to NY and joined a Barre class. Exhale South Central Park is in a great location, really easy to find and with a welcoming entrance. This carried on to the friendly staff at reception who showed us to very clean & well equipped changing areas, with lockers, towels & products to use. The Barre class itself was great fun and a wonderful workout. The instructor was welcoming to all, took time to explain the moves whilst keeping a great pace to the class. I would highly recommend Exhale classes to both complete beginners/newbies or those looking for something more challenging, as the class was able to accommodate all.
I am from London, I visited Exhale last month on my trip to NYC and this is hands down the best spa in the city. Not only are the spa services excellent, but I also loved the barre and yoga classes too (great visitor package available). They also sell a good range of lounge and yoga wear - great quality!
I am happy I took the yoga class in this somewhat ritzy area but I have had better and worse experiences. The instructor was just OK. The yoga studio was nice and clean but the people seemed to be regulars and I felt a little uncomfortable but still got a good workout.I thought the locker rooms were very nice and clean. The gift shop in the front of the store was nice. There were nice lotions to test and cute items to consider for purchase.
Ive been to a few of Exhales locations, so this is more of a general review of the core fusion classes. They are no joke, but worth the effort! Youll start to feel a difference after a few classes. The instructors are welcoming and usually come around to introduce themselves at the beginning of the class. Each class more or less follows the same structure, so you always know what youre getting into, which is nice. I like that they offer a 45 minute express class, which still packs in a great workout.
Really clean place with a nice locker room and showers. They have two studios, one for yoga and cardio and the other is a barre studio. All classes are great. Yoga classes are fast paced and makes for a good workout. They also have a small area for tea and water. Love that they provide Jade yoga mats for use without a fee.
If I could afford it, Id come here every day, all day. Unfortunately Im on Classpass so I come 3x a month. I love Fridays Core Fusion Yoga with Kristin. My most favorite way to end the week. Barbaras Barre classes are bomb. The yoga studio is very zen and relaxing and the barre studio is great with natural light through the huge skylight. The locker room is nice and I love the free teas they offer.
I just joined Exhale after going to three classes through my Classpass membership. I fell in love with this gym and joined immediately. The location is perfect, the space is beautiful, barre classes with Fred have been amazing but the yoga needs some discipline. I have yet to take a yoga class at this gym where people arent leaving early. Its just rude and disrespectful on all counts. When I asked the front desk what the policy is about leaving early they said there was nothing they could do. I disagree. At nearly $300/month you can kindly ask members who plan to leave early to take a spot in the back of the room and you can take a pause before beginning savasana to give people who plan to leave early time to do so. The end of class is the most important part of class. It shouldnt be hurried or polluted by the selfish actions of members who dont take their practice seriously or who put their time above everyone elses.
Took a noon barre class here on a lunch break via classpass.Facility is nice, locker room and shower situation is up to standard. Class was OK. Not what I entirely expected. Loved the focus on what exact muscle groups were activated for each move, the instructor was super knowledgeable. I forget his name. He provided limited modifications and individual pointers, but was overall motivating and really into what he was doing. My real gripe was that a class flooded in immediately after my class. I watched a Woman grab all the equipment I had just used, and I was never give a chance to clean it at all. No time for a cleaning crew to come in and disinfect a single thing any one of us just sweat all over. Including an ab mat we laid down on after working up a sweat, a ball we wedged between our thighs to workout with, and stretch bands we used for resistance. At many other barre facilities give you a wet nap to wipe down the items you use to workout with, none of that occurred here. You just dont know what anyones cleanliness situation is. And youre certainly paying for a good, hard, clean workout.Just my two sense.Loved that the studio had some bright open windows in the ceiling making it super bright and airy. Big space. Not on top of other fellow classmates.
The core fusion barre class has gotten even better and more challenging with the incorporation of bands. I highly recommend Tylers class. He makes it fun, mentally stimulating and physically tiring. A must for people who like to work out
I never write reviews, but am compelled to do so after what I deem the most horrible spa experience. I was visiting NYC to celebrate my 40th birthday with family and friends. You can imagine how thrilled I was when my sister in law presented me with a gift certificate to Exhale. As a mom of 3 young children, I am more than happy to indulge in some rare relaxation. I arrived at the spa 20 min ahead of my appointment. When I checked in, I was given some paperwork to fill out and then return once complete. I was also asked if I had been to the spa before, to which I clearly responded No. The check in person simply nodded. I was a little puzzled by the lack of warm reception and lack of tour but I figured this was par for the course as the check in area was very busy and filled with a large crowd (? a barre class that had recently finished their class). It was noisy, busy and it made me wonder if this was truly a spa. Certainly not like any other spa I have ever checked in to. I returned my completed paperwork after 10 min and was barely given any acknowledgement. I sat in the entrance on their round bench for the next 30 min, wondering why I the massage therapist was running so late. At this point, I was the only person left in the reception area and was seated in front of the check in desk. I sat facing the desk for 30 min and could not have been missed. I eventually went up to the desk and asked how much longer the massage therapist would be. The woman looked completely shocked that I was there and said The massage therapist has been looking everywhere for you. Huh? I completed my paperwork and had been sitting there for the past 30 min facing the desk. I couldnt be more visible unless I had a neon sign over my head. The massage therapist promptly came out and said Im sorry, but I have to take 30 min off of your massage because you were late. Excuse me???!!! I arrived 20 min early. She then explained that I would not be charged the full amount for a massage. I responded by telling her that I didnt care for the charge as this was a gift certificate. She told me Well, then this will benefit the gift giver. I was absolutely floored. It was suggested that maybe you return at a later date or later time. Sorry, but as a busy working mom of three young children, I dont have the luxury of returning on a whim. Never, ever ever have I received such dismissive and unapologetic service. I promptly left and never received any services. I had to take a 30 min walk back to my hotel in 7 degree weather as I couldnt find a cab on such a cold, January day. Brutal. Save your money and your time and go to a spa that is professional and leaves you feeling relaxed, not fuming. Also, I have to comment that the check in area has an awful atmosphere--unless your looking for the feel of grand central station in a spa. Based on other reviews of the spa, I can see I am not the only customer to deal with such unprofessional, uncaring staff. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice facility. Clean shower, lockers, and towels. They had everything you would need.
I’m going to start off by saying my daughters and I enjoyed the spa treatments we received. The staff was great, very professional and attentive to our needs. The one star rating was about two things. First, the relaxation room is located close to where the workout classes are so it ended up being very noisy.Second, our spa treatments were purchased through Gilt. One of my daughters got one treatment and checked out earlier then my other daughter and I. Paid for the gratuitity for her service and left. When we checked out later, the staff member at the desk had no clue how to handle the Gilt certificate and it took over twenty minutes to check out because he was so confused we purchased through Gilt and at first tried to charge us again for the services. Finally got that straightened out. Then he told us we owed the gratuities on all 5 services including my daughter’s that had already left. I questioned this several times but he insisted we owed tips on all services so I paid. Also, after our facials, a few products were recommended to us that we wanted to buy. We were told at the end of our facials, all products were 30% off. When he rang them up he only gave us 10% off. When we questioned this he was insistent it was only 10% off. There were several other staff members behind the desk also and no one corrected him. When my daughter said we were just told all products were 30% off finally the girl next to him who was listening to the whole conversation finally said everything was 30 off. We paid and left. As soon as we got home I asked my other daughter if she had paid the gratuity on her service and of course she had. We immediately called and spent another 25 minutes on the phone trying to get the charge reversed. The guy on the phone tried to tell us her tip was more than ours and that’s why we had to pay more when we checked out. We all got the same facial. Finally he said he couldn’t issue the credit that only the manager could do that who wasn’t there. He said she would call us the next day and issue the credit. Of course that never happened and we had to call again, go through the whole thing again before they finally issued the credit. There are many other spas in NYC that offer great services in a relaxing atmosphere where the staff know how to use Gilt certificates, understands sales knows what quality service is. Exhale is not one of those spas. Big thumbs down for me.
The trainer who led the class was really attentive, made sure I had the right posture. Today, a day later, I can feel that I had an effective workout, but I am not in pain thanks to the stretching we did after each set.
Most excellent! Stella is amazing & the front desk is helpful & very friendly... always willing to go the extra yard to give great service.
The most beautiful yoga studio Ive ever been to. Loved my experience here and would love to come back.
Exhale was my first experience with a true yoga studio, and was it ever a different one from yoga at the gym. The class was super challenging and the teacher was great about incorporating in adjustments without making you feel awkward. Would highly recommend for a more serious yoga class!
If I can give less stars I would. My husband booked a massage for himself and for me a prenatal massage. We were booked for 530 and showed up at 530 on the dot due to traffic. The massage therapist made a comment on the way in about being tight on time and having another client right after me. I didnt think much of it and went to change VERY QUICKLY feeling like I was going to get into trouble for taking too long! I used the restroom and the massage therapist took me to the room. After explaining some things and signing a consent I told her I have to use the bathroom again. Mind you I am 8 months pregnant. My bladder is not under my own control at this point. This is where I went wrong. The look on her face said it all. How dare I have to use the restroom. She walked me back to the bathroom which was on the other side of the facility. Did they really think it was a good idea to put a pregnant lady so far from the bathroom for an hour massage?????When I came back she told me I would not be getting my full 60 minutes but I would be charged for it anyway. I said that was completely unacceptable and rude. I went to the manager in horror that she was acting this way and he confirmed that I would not be getting the full 60 minutes due to their busy schedule.I responded by telling them it was their fault for not accommodating for a pregnant woman considering I was already paying more for a prenatal massage. They said my time slot was 530-630 and i told them no I am paying for a 60 minute massage not a time slot.I asked for a refund and they refused. Then they told me they would give me my 60 minutes after i started a fuss. As if I wanted that woman to touch me at this point. I was enraged. Heart pounding, crying, lightheaded, and could barely catch my breath from being treated this way.Eventually after numerous exchange of words they refunded me. I asked them to tell my husband I wasnt getting a massage. Which they didnt. So after all this I had to sit for an hour and wait for him.I have gotten prenatal massages before and never been treated this way. I hope they will never ever treat another woman so disrespectfully when they are coming to relax and unwind. If you are paying for 60 minutes you should get your 60 minutes. I understand its a business to them but it is meant to be relaxation for us. I shouldnt have to worry about holding in my pee to get a massage. They should get all their licenses taken away and shut down for treating an 8 month pregnant woman this way. And on top of it didnt even call my husband when I asked them to.BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!
Happy I took the yoga class in this somewhat ritzy area but I have had better and worse experiences. The instructor was just OK. The yoga studio was nice and clean but the people seemed to be regulars and I felt a little uncomfortable but still got a good workout.
This is an absolutely amazing place. I love their barre and yoga classes!!
Love this place. All instructors motivate you to do better.
Told us to show up 15 minutes early, and then moved the class time 45 minutes later without any notification... not very respectful of our time.
Core Fusion class by Elisabeth was awesome. Super good muscle toning workout!
Classes are great, but the place needs to be cleaned. And for a yoga place, you would think that the employees be more health concious.
The front desk ladies are very unfriendly. No effort to even try to be nice or welcoming.
Wonderful massage! Love the Barre teachers!
Ive been to this location a few times to take their core-fusion classes. My favorite is the Sunday core-fusion cardio express which is an intense 45 minute class which includes light weights, cardio and some ab work towards the end. They have a very big locker room which includes maybe 5-6 showers, lockers that use codes, steam room and nice products to use mouthwash, curling iron, lotion etc;Theres also a very nice giftshop when you walk in which lots of nice products to purchase. This is one of my favorite exhale locations to visit.
Consistently great, and challenging, workout. Professional instructors. Im a big fan of Exhale!
I love it the place I had a wonderful time
I made a mistake. I inhaled.
Great facial, massage was ok.
It is worth excercising there.
Love the barre classes!
Very relaxing.
