JOIN AT YOUR OWN RISK - THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SHADY GYMS THAT WILL CONTINUE TO CHARGE FEES AS YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO CANCEL MEMBERSHIP.I am immuno-compromised, so when Covid-19 hit in March 2020, I stopped going to the gym and moved out of state. I called many times trying to cancel my Crunch membership without ever getting through to anyone, and this gym proceeded to charge me an annual fee in the meantime. I requested a refund and they refused, citing some bogus clause in their contract that requires you to cancel within a certain number of days of being charged the annual fee - pretty convenient for them that you cant actually get in touch with anyone to cancel. I will now have to request a new credit card from my bank so that Crunch cannot continue to rob me in the middle of a global pandemic.
This is one of the relatively newer locations, and it boasts beautiful decor touches, like a giant Hindu goddess decal on the yoga studio door, or the gorgeous hardwood floors, as well as impeccable cleanliness of all the spaces including locker rooms. All the safety protocols are stringently maintained so its a very safe environment for my fitness needs, and having group fitness classes back is cherry on top! I love being a Crunch member. Been one for 2 decades, and hope to continue in the same vein in the foreseeable future.
I think the spacing of the workout area is good. Cleanliness of the gym is A-1. Would prefer, when it can be done, to have cleaning staff to walk the workout area and remove discarded towels more. In addition, the announcement on members maintaining cleanliness on to wipe down equipment after use needs to continue. Overall I enjoy this facility.
AVOID joining this gym at all costs. I promise you will see for yourself how incredibly unprofessional the service is. They will increase your rates because they say it is in their contract that its subject to change. They offered a guest pass in return and were INCREDIBLY rude to my guest to the point where I was very embarrassed. Anyone who I have spoken to has been very unprofessional including the operation manager. I never post reviews but went out of my way to post this one because I would not want anyone else dealing with this. I have been a member since 9/2020 and given COVID have multiple times given them the benefit of the doubt but the service is getting worse and worse. Old machines, over crowding. Honestly best to probably pay the same price and join a nicer gym. Horrified at my experience here.
I love the balcony to sunbathe or rest after work out, steam and sauna always work fine, love the vibe there and clean..close to movie theater..convenient bus to take you to herald square
Good amount of equipment and space to stretch. Pretty good.
Its a state of the art, spacious beautiful gym. I love it here!
I canceled my membership after just a few months: it was always messy - members leave their free weights, plates and barbells and boxes around and nobody puts them back, personal coaching sessions interfered with my own workouts countless times. The final straw was when I was stretching on the turf and a member coached by a trainer started moving the heavy sled just 2 inches away from my fingers. I told them right away that they put in me in danger but they ignored and repeated it few more times - totally unprofessional.
Very nice fitness place, has everything you will need including steam and sauna rooms.
I canceled my membership over two years ago and theyre still trying to charge my credit card. Do not join. Go elsewhere. There are so many better gyms out there.
I have attempted SEVERAL times to cancel my membership and instead they not only have not canceled but increased my membership by another 10 dollars!! When will it end? You don’t acknowledge email cancelations nor phone cancellations so now I’m asking Mr. Crunch himself, how do I get out of your gym besides asking my bank to stop payments? Do I need a lawyer?
3 racks, a deadlifting platform with round plates, 2 bench presses, plenty of cardio, and great hours. Clients are pretty clean and respectful. Prolly one of the best postpandemic gyms right now. Im so happy they finally got a deadlift platform with round plates!!
The gym is really great, as are most Crunch locations in the city. I have tried almost all of them and adore Crunch gyms. At 34th Street The staff are very friendly and will help you out best they can. The Sales team and Operations team are really helpful. The personal trainers are all knowledgeable, thats Crunchs thing - besides being inclusive and making fitness fun - having a particularly well-trained and learned PT staff. I train with two trainers currently here. The Fitness Manager Dimitri is really good at pairing you with a trainer that can help you do everything from recover from injuries to work towards your fitness and weight loss goals.During these times of Covid the gym has been doing a great job of staying safe and clean and within mandated guidelines of 33% capacity so its not packed, and they have a system in place to keep an eye on the actual number of people in the gym at all times. With these features in place, I can feel safe enough working out. They are great about mask guidelines and make sure people are masked and STAY that way, you can be told to leave if one doesnt abide. That makes me feel much safer as well. Most fellow members are pretty good about it.
Very clean gym great costumer service
Just moved to Gramercy. This location is much nicer than Union Square. The people are friendly. Wish the sauna would open and the Bravo channel would work.
Upscale facility with all of the fitness equipment you can get your hands on from free weights to machines to fitness classes. Great place to workout.
Had my happiest experiences here. The Caribbean dance rhythm class is like no other anywhere. The spin classes are challenging and yet you can keep up. The equipment is well maintained. The shower and change rooms are clean. The sauna is great. Location is unbeatable.
Very clean, great classes.
I tried to come workout as a guess and I wasnt allowed to workout all because I didnt live in the area but I work in the area smh.
Sign up at your own risk. They will not allow you to cancel their membership. Unless they can make money from you, they will just continue to ignore you. Update- (Emailed [email protected] also no response).
Love their spin classes!!
Im in utter shock of the lack of organization and terrible customer service they have here. Ive been trying to get a refund for the past 6 months and contacted them at least 20 times and still havent been able to get a hold of the district manager. If there ever is a billing problem, good luck trying to get your money back.Update: Still no response from the District Sales Manager.
Modern, well equipped, clean
Stacey, from the front desk, went above and beyond to handle a situation. I was told a representative would be there to sign me up after my 3-day pass expired. Well there was no one there and it was a bit late so she call one of the associates to get things situated. Instead of just sending me away she took the time to resolve the issue. I joined because the gym is clean, the equipment is varied, and the location is superb for my job. It’s a bit busy between 5pm to 7:30pm but it’s NYC so it’s totally understandable. I would recommend the gym in comparison to others. Best bang for your buck. The only downfall is the guys tend to cruise Grindr to much instead of lifting. 💀
Will not refund the $1000 I paid before the pandemic for personal training. They are the worst!
This place doesn’t even have enough plates to workout with. Every rack or plate loaded machine has 1 45 max. They recently put in a deadlift platform and they have 0 plates allocated to it. What a joke
The gym is nice but inconvenient to deadlift in
My favorite gym chain! Great location with lots of room and views. Always here for classes esp Zumba. Friendly staff, clean, great classes and instructors.
Great Crunch gym. Facility is large, clean, full of cardio and weight machines. Good range of clientele, but most people here are young. Staff is friendly, but some can be a bit obnoxious. Restroom facilities are up to date, never experienced a wait for the showers in the morning.
Equipment here is more varied than other branches in NYC and its more spacious. However, its not worth it. The people here are definitely the rudest Ive ever seen at a crunch. Im not talking about the staff, theyre fine. But at my old crunch at Cooper Union, everyone was happy to share and let people work in, no one hogged a machine or bench while working circuits on 4 other pieces of equipment. Everyone was very polite and supportive. Here people are the exact opposite. Extremely rude, hogging equipment, even the personal trainers are more aggressive. Its very intimidating and makes me hate the gym where I used to love it. I wish I could move back to the other one.
Incredible gym
Sorry guys - this review is long overdue! I was in NY for a week in August because my wife had to have a surgical procedure at NYU Hospital. Jon & the staff could not have been more accomodating in getting me in for a stress relieving workout! Good people & great facility - I recommend them highly.
The gym has gotten better and better over the years. Better equipment, clean, and the classes are actually pretty challenging too. They’ve done a great job of upkeep in the gym,
Very clean. Not crowded when Ive been there. Plenty of amenities and classes. Pretty reasonable prices too. I also like the way the gym is set up and they have some of my favorite machines that you dont see in every gym. My friend just joined and Ill join when Im back.
I have not tried them all but this by far the best crunch (others have been terrible) The equipment is clean and well maintained. the staff is friendly and helpful. it is definitely a younger (kind of obnoxious crowd) i try to go very early or middle of the day.
Nice gym that offers and array of classes and brand new equipment. This gym location just recently opened up and still has brand new equipment, trendy atmosphere and a young crowd of meat-heads and gym fanatics. It also has room for regular folks who wont look down on you if you cant bench 200+ pounds or run more than 2 miles on the treadmill. There are a lot of class options but you have to get there 15 min in advance to sign up if you miss online sign up. Overall, good atmosphere that makes you want to come to the gym.
Great classes, very well maintained studio/equipment, sauna and steam--a real plus!
I love this gym! Shout out to Xander, Stacey, Kimberly, Christina, Andrew, and Jason - you folks have made my gym experience an awesome one. Recently, Xander and Kimberly went above and beyond to help - Tons of gratitude for both of you. 🙏🏻What I like the most about this gym is the respectful, loving, and no-judgement environment that they create for us. Facilities are kept clean and class - instructors are kind and professional. Raven, Kristen, Yxia, Alexandra, Raldane, and Carl are some of the best instructors who bring their A-game to the class each week. The gym management is also at the top of their game.Keep up the great job folks - I’d give a thousand stars to this gym, if Google allowed.
After belonging to a budget gym and having to fight people for equipment, this gym is a huge step up and is worth the price. Its clean, new equipment, plenty of cardio machines and amenities. Classes are great, but really depend on the instructor. However, there is so much personal training going on all the time they are always in the way. There are signs that basically say, if theres a training session here you pretty much cant be in the area because they take precedence. They also make you feel like you have to move if they need to use an area or piece of equipment.
This is a great Crunch location. Spacious, with many configurations and workouts possible, including gymnastics rings and a lovely yoga studio. This location also has a good steam room and sauna. Also, there is ample natural light, which is a huge plus.
MOTHERS BEWARE!!!!One thing is Before you sign up and another after you sign up. My personal case I sign up because “they offer child care” before you sign up; oh yeah sure you can come with in the schedule that we provide child care just give us a call before you come to make sure she is here. After I sign up; no you cannot just come in you have to make an appointment the day before, whatever they told you before was a mistake. Every day the babysitter is there but if you didn’t make an appointment the day before you can’t come in. In what world you have to make an appointment to do essential things like the gym? Is because we are moms?? After you are a mom your life supposed to be harder or over?? I’m mom of 2 and i can’t predict what’s s coming tomorrow and even to go to the gym for what you paid an extra charge you can’t use it, really?? Shame on you and your fraud with lies
Didnt use this location for 2 months and came back to find the weight area had been significantly upgraded. Now 3 squat racks, and a layout that makes much more sense. 5 stars despite the 3 old exercise bikes they keep having to repair.
Bring your water bottle.
Really nice Crunch. Just redid the weights section to focus more on HIIT and circuit training, adding some TRX bands! Classes tend to be full, crowd is very Murray Hill (you feel old if over 25), but it means the weights are less crowded. Nice bathroom facilities.
Rude staff, the other crunch locations have nicer people. The staff here previously was nicer too, not sure why they changed the people.
Bad management
Don’t waste your money on a membership herego to planet fitness and spend $10 a month instead of 150 a month
7 day cooling period but no one has responded to me in over 3 weeks when I try to cancel my membership.
Best of all the crunches. Erin is an amazing spin instructor. Only issue is the Class is too hot all the time.If you want to do have only one crunch gym, 34th is the best.
Just be careful when you join. Supposedly they have this cancellation policy that says you need to give them a months notice or they charge you for the following month... yep. Thats after you cancel. Major scam.
I love you crunch 34th, steam room is amazing, staff so friendly, clean and well maintained equipments... BUT can we please please do something about the music???? Pretty pls 😭
Crunch is clean, good equipment, a bit too crowded. Clases are busy. Personal trainers here are very good, very involved in all aspects of your training program. The best gym in the area.
Steam room is broken more times than it works. The maintenance people place shampoo in the body wash dispensers most of the time (guessing when they run out of body wash). Otherwise its a nicer crunch than other locations but not as upkept as it should be.
They replaced the majority of the equipment with hopscotch zones....what a joke. They claimed “this is the new trend in fitness”. With prices like Crunch I want really equipment. Not white tape lines on carpeting.
I’m really disappointed with my experience at this gym. Bad management.
The cliub is overcrowded as another crunch closed nearby. it is badly managed. not enough cleaning, no towels, or wipes or you ll have to circle the club to find it . the cleaning people are not visible. they are pushing strongly to take private instructors for 160$ an hour. i wish they would develop and open more classes and more services towards cosnumers.
Random Saturday afternoon at 425, as a class pass user scheduled for 5pm....they wont let me check in. All I want to use is the treadmill. 0 of 20 treadmills being used at this time :(Couldnt we really do without this?
They have instructors teaching barre here who can’t even do a push up on their knees. I don’t trust any of their fitness advice.
I reserve class by mistake on W 38th street and I went to 34th east street, if it’s possible to change my class to this location, I was exited to start my gym and to have my class, one of the front desk she don’t let me in, that was very sad
GreaT gym, space and people!
Awesome gym and great experience. Spencer at the front desk was outstanding
This place is awesome ..one of the best looking gyms that I have been to...Has very up to date equipment
Was passing through for the day and came here for a quick workout. Great facility and staff.
I like it because it has everything I need to work out. The gym itself is newly renovated so that adds to its value.
They recently posted a sign that if machines and not functioning to please let them knowI have let them know the last two months and nothing has been done what is the purpose of posting that
It was time for my wife and I to join a new gym which is something we dont normally look forward to doing due to the high pressure sales tactics that are used at most gyms, but surprise when we went into Crunch 34th Street, we were greeted and assisted by their sales guy Matt who was extremely professional, polite, and a pleasure to work with. He showed us around the club which is spacious, lots of natural light, and even has a sun deck. He answered all of our questions if full detail and gave me information above and beyond what I asked or expected from someone who I expected to just be trying to sell me a membership. He pointed out benefits of the facility, discussed personal training in detail and without him even having to try and sell the membership we wanted to join with him because 1.) We loved the club, but he also made what I was expecting to be a uncomfortable experience quite a pleasure and believe it or not we even learned some things about Crunch and fitness in general. A+ For customer service, Amazing Facility, Nice, New, and Extremely Clean. He also of course asked me to send in my friends so if you join Crunch 34th Street I would recommend you ask for Matt he is professional and just a really nice guy.
Evening Manager is rude and cant seem to see past herself and not people friendly.
I think I can help out dear@Meryl S......i’m a gym instructor
Cancellation policy Scam. The location is always full as the closed a near by location, so difficult to get a machine after work. Most trainers act in a bullying fashion ( which i dont like )
Sh...its my favorite location since its around the corner from my apartment, its the nicest one in midtown, classes are too crowded though
Most of the machines don’t function that goes for the staff as well
Useless staff broken machines and terrible towels
Awesome gym for boxing.
Awful, trainers always workout by them selfs, its annoying
Very rude to customers
This place is closed
