The first time I met her, she was SO patient with me as I agonized over how high to hem etc... she gave great advice & Im very happy with my results. I cant speak to the experiences of other reviewers. All I can say is, Salma has been amazing for me personally!! I know Im putting myself in good hands when I trust her with a beloved item of clothing :)

As a busy healthcare worker during the COVID pandemic, I decided to try Tailoring NYC due to the perfect 5 star reviews. Boy was it a mistake, costing me nearly $2,000 ($1500 jacket + $340 alterations). Future clients, beware that you WILL NOT RECEIVE what you think. I will consider my near $2000 loss an investment as it will help you avoid this mishap. I will tell my colleagues, and I hope you do as well, about the extraordinarily poor suit tailoring at this place. If you need any more proof, refer to the picture of the email etiquette from the owner. They are purely there to make (perhaps take) money.My purpose in writing this review is to help future clients understand that the 5 star reviews for this place are not indicative of what you get here, a very tricky thing to ascertain with many places having boosting of their reviews. What was my purpose in trying this place? Well, as someone who has been spending almost all his time in the hospital, my time is limited and for 5 stars, you expect not only near-perfect alterations, but also this done in a professional and timely manner.When I first visited this place, I was greeted by a woman who seems to be the primary person that measures/pins you. She did not introduce herself by name. As I tried on the jackets, she seemed to pressure customers quite a bit, pinning and saying (without me asking) that X Y Z alteration would be done. What I thought was incredibly odd was that she requested me to button both buttons on a 2-button suit during pinning. When I noted that the standard is to button only the top, she said that all the men with suits that she has seen button both. I knew this was utterly wrong, and skeptical at this point. I was particularly hesitant about them messing with the shoulders since that is a tough thing for all but the best tailors. She also showed me a suit on a mannequin noting how well they tailor suits. Funnily, I noticed that one of the shoulders was actually sewn on half a centimeter higher than the other, creating an asymmetric look. Despite all this, I decided to trust the 5 star reviews and proceed.The first attempt left the shoulders narrow and with huge divots. At first, the woman blamed the sweater I was wearing. When I took off my sweater and wore the blazer on top of my bare skin, the divots were still there just as prominent and she had nothing to say! The tailor came and assured me that he could fix it.The second attempt saw the shoulder divot fixed but with the use of some shoulder support material that changed the overall feel of the jacket (shoulders were now more prominent and not a relaxed look). There was also a huge wad of cloth in the upper back. Again, the lady blamed what I was wearing when clearly it is not that with any other suit I own. I once again wore the suit with a bare chest and she had no excuses. Does a gentleman really need to become bare for a tailor to own up to their mistakes?The third attempt resulted in the pictures below - huge amount of fabric left over in the upper back still and numerous small divots around all the suit panel edges. A $50 off the rack suit looks finer than this! After a 15-hour shift, I was utterly shocked and disappointed. I ended up emailing the owner how disappointed I was.Luckily, I took my other 3 jackets of the same brand/fit to another tailor who did a near-perfect job, on the first try.Lastly, to be fair, they did a good job of hemming pants.

Fantastic all around. Came in on a Saturday night with a suit that the Macys tailors had botched. I needed it for an event the following afternoon and they turned it around by 11:30 on Sunday. Great customer service, great pricing and good people. Cant recommend highly enough.

Absolutely amazing hassle free GREAT customer service. The alterations they did on my dresspants and dress shirt were superb. They took the time to assess how the clothes best fit me and gave me the best advice, while allowing me to decide for myself what I like.I HIGHLY recommend.

I highly recommend this company for clothing alterations. They are most professional and courteous. The work is first class. The environment is friendly, and they have great respect for the clients time. Their expertise is evidenced by the fact that, in my case, everything has been correct on the first try. They know how to measure, and they execute perfectly.

As a cosplayer, I couldnt ask for better service. I gave them quite a project to achieve with a trench coat, some fabric, and little to no direction on how to get it done and they knocked it out the park! Highly recommended

Had a custom tux made here and it was absolutely impeccable! Gus worked around the clock to make sure last minute changes were completed in time for my wedding. Ive also had Gus work on random suits and Indian clothes - all which were perfect in the end. Ive worked with a number of tailors in SF and NY and this was the best experience Ive had. Wonderful service. They really take the time to assess how the clothes should fit and give you the best advice, while allowing you to decide for yourself what you like. I would recommend taking any high quality pieces here. The alteration was excellent. The shop is also beautiful.

My go to spot for alterations! Gustavo is the best, he takes extra time pinning to make sure sure you are happy with the fit. Ive brought everything from vintage denim, velvet, and suede and everything has turned out AMAZING! Every time I visit I think of other pieces I could bring. The prices are very fair and affordable. Its a great shop that makes you feel at home and they take really good care of your clothes and the final results are flawless.

This is the only place I would ever go to get a custom fit suit. The experience from picking the fabric type and pattern design, to the measuring, to the customization options is absolutely extraordinary. The materials, tailoring and final fit of the suit is immaculate. Their shirt and tie selection is trendy and cutting edge. Emir is a master of his craft and will exceed your expectations in the quality of the product and customer service every time.

I had a great experience working with Gus to create a custom suit for my wedding. He gave very helpful advice but made sure that the important decisions were up to me. Ive never had a suit made before, but he made me very comfortable with the process. Gus was even able expedite my suit on very short notice, and finished it almost a week earlier than we had planned. It came out beautifully and I cant wait to wear it at my wedding this coming weekend! Highly recommended.

I took my favorite blazer with ripped lining on the sleeves and back. The team at Heights & Kenchi did a fabulous job. They replaced the lining and made it feel brand new. They did it quickly as well! Ive been looking all over town for a great tailor and Im so happy that I have found them!

Ive lived in a few different neighborhoods in NYC and have visited my share of tailors. There are great ones out there who do quality alterations. However, Gustavo is the best Ive come across in the city because he does amazing work with a fast turnaround and at very fair rates. Usually your tailors are nice, older European gentlemen who know good suiting style, though you wouldnt quite know it by looking at them or their shop. Spend a little bit of time with the dapper Gus in Heights+Kenchi and youll walk out with stylish attire that looks like it was made just for you.

The best tailoring experience i have had in New York. Atef went above and beyond with his care and consideration. He knew how to make adjustments to best fit my body, and I am quite excited to wear my new suit. Will be my go-to for my next tailoring.

I have been to numerous tailor shops in the city and finally found a reliable place that could make the adjustments to my clothes that I needed. Other stores had turned me down for some of my tailoring needs, saying the job was too difficult, but Heights and Kenchi always accepted and I was absolutely floored with the results. By far one of the best experiences Ive had with a tailoring service. So happy I found them!

I am petite so I always have to get my clothes altered. Ive been to many tailors in the city but Heights + Kenchi is by far the best, in terms of customer service and quality. Gus is an extremely talented tailor who has an exquisite eye and gave me his honest opinion about how to alter my pieces so that they fit perfectly. He also loves his work -- and that comes through in his interactions with customers and the quality of the finished product.

Best tailoring spot I have found in NYC, Gus is an artist who takes pride in his work and you see that in the finished piece. I took two dresses there to be tailored to fit me and could not be happier with the results, they were done super quickly but with the upmost of care and reasonably priced. I admit the prices can be a bit on the higher side, but I have come across more affordable tailors where you get what you pay for.Atis was very professional and made sure that I understood what he was doing and why he was doing it. I would not go anywhere else !! I have been all over the city looking for custom suits. Heights & Kenchi were by far the absolute best. I was in a rush for an up coming event and they were only company able to finish my 3 piece suit in 2 & 1/2 weeks. All other places want 3 weeks to a month. Their actually was a little last minute issue where the tailor was not able to finish alterations on my suit the Sunday it was promised. Knowing my event was on Wednesday, Heights actually worked over time to get it ready for me on time for my event. I explained to them I am only in the city on Sundays and I live an hour and a half to two hours away in Staten Staten. Something like this shows me the real character of this business. One of the owners personally delivered this suit all the way to my door step. I know him well now and I will not go anywhere else. Thank you Heights and Kenchi for showing such character.

H+K was voted 2014 #2 up and coming designer. This accomplishment was not just due to the Sartorialists designs and attention to detail, it was also given on the quality of service you need from a suit maker. I needed a suit made in two months; to give us enough time for adjustments, Yunousa, one of their suit makers requested I come in for initial fitting. Once he took my measurements, we had a chat to get to know my personality and style. Little things like that helped for him to create the perfect suit for me. He even gave me a timeline which he would follow up with me and have me stop in the shop for size changes and design changes. I have had other suit makers before, but this one shop dealt with me on a personal level which allowed me to be comfortable with working with him for this suit, and many more suits to come.

He fixed my shoes in 15 mins after I walked in wearing them. Amazing! Super nice, too

A friend of mine had a blazer made for himself and referred me here. Once I got the contact info, I reached out to Emir for an intro and was able to make an appointment. I sent him a photo of what I was looking for which made the appointment easier. We went through some colors and materials, took some measurements, and I brought in a jacket I had so they had an idea of what I wanted for fit.If youve ever seen the Nas video for Cant forget about you he rocks a shiny gold or silver tuxedo jacket with a black lapel. When I saw this video back in 2006, I knew I wanted to get married wearing anything remotely close to it. Emir and the staff at heights+kenchi took what I had in mind and gave me a flawless product from fit to design. The experience, service and end product were amazing. Im not sure what the normal timetable is to have something custom made for yourself, but all was done within a 3 month period.Thanks Emir and heights+kenchi!

NEVER GOING ANYWHERE ELSE FOR WOMANS SUIT!!!!!!!!Hows that for a statement?!I was doing my research on tailored suits. I hate the way off the rack suits look. Those wrinkles on the shoulders, and the extra fabric behind the neck. Long or short sleeves. ugh. Honestly theres nothing better than a man or woman in a impeccable suit. My Search lead me here, and I was super excited about the process.The interior is not typical of other suiting stores. Its got a great feel to it. I spoke with their tailor about my needs, and after explaining the process and the difference between custom and bespoke. I opted for bespoke. Why not right? Its my first REAL suit. Lets get fancy! I got to pick everything out myself! I picked the fabric, buttons and everything else that went into the suit. The choices of fabrics can be a bit overwhelming, but Im in fashion and this is actually the fun part! They gave me their recommendations which helped and in the end I found something I liked. The guys there are helpful, and a breeze to work with and Im happy. They made the process fun and exciting.I had my measurements taken then about 6 weeks later I came in for a fitting. I was more than please with the suits fit. Better than I had anticipated. Buying a Womans suit off the rack and getting it to fit properly is a challenge. After getting a Bespoke suit from Heights+Kenchi I will NOT buy another crappy ill fitting off the rack suit again!Two months later I got an email from Kenchin asking if everything was ok with my purchase.I wanted to make the pants narrower then I originally asked for and Kenchis reply to my request was simple Our pleasure - please bring it in and well take care of you they got it done a week later and I was on my way! So far Ive gotten 1 bespoke suit 2 custom suits and 5 shirts I would recommend any woman having a hard time finding a good fitting suit to check these guys out.Oh did I mention they do mens as well? My boyfriend got in on the fun, too! He has 2 customs, and 3 shirts. He wears suits everyday, and he prefers the fit to his new customs than his off the rack. We are going back soon to pick out our summer suits!
