I went to Alterations Specialists on Crosby for my maid of honor dress for my sister’s wedding. It needed to be totally reworked to fit properly. It was an intricate dress with sequin detailing and a lot of fabric and Dhurata masterfully crafted the dress to fit my body perfectly. She put me at ease during each of my fittings and was so meticulous I knew I was in good hands. The dress turned out perfect and it took a lot of skill to be able to ensure it fit. I can’t say enough good things about Dhurata and my experience with the whole Alterations Specialists team. Truly a dream to work with!

This business was recommended to me for bridal alterations by a friend who works in the fashion industry. The staff and setting are absolutely amazing.From the moment I walked in the door, Lawrence made sure everything went smoothly, with an elegant demeanor and managing to be welcoming all at once. You could tell that Lawrence thinks fast on his feet.Wiola immediately made me feel welcomed and calm, and I was having a very frantic and hot day! She was so kind and made me feel great about my dress and how I looked in it. She was very transparent about processes, and was a breath of fresh air.Lisa was attentive about the changes that I wanted to make to my dress, but also kept my expectations realistic. She helped me to better understand what alterations would work best. She was so efficient, yet didnt make me feel rushed.The studio was very neat and bright and had great seating, fitting rooms, and mirrors.Im looking forward to working with them more!

Went to Alteration Specialists to get two denim pants altered. The service was exceptional. Sinai was professional, efficient and was able to accommodate a quick turnaround for the alterations. Highly recommend.

After searching for alteration places with good reviews, I stumbled upon this location. When I arrived I found the atmosphere to be very contemporary, up to date, and well organized. Although the actual space was smaller than Im used to, they were able to accommodate all of their clients perfectly. I loved Mat ! He was very kind and almost knew immediately what needed to be fixed or altered on my wedding dress. I felt completely safe and comfortable in his care as he was kind, observant, honest, and considerate of my wants and needs. I entirely recommend him! So much so, that my bridesmaid ended up getting alterations here as well. I joined her for her alterations day and was surprised I was remembered by staff. The staff is very welcoming and kind. Lawerence handled our appointments and he was so sweet and considerate. I was so pleased with my experience i was eager to learn their names not only to thank them genuinely but to leave them a review because they were that kind and helpful during the alterations process. Without a doubt I recommend this location! You wont be disappointed.UPDATEGoing in for my second fitting was a complete disappointment. The male whom had worked on my gown no longer worked there and as opposed to receiving a call prior to my second appointment, I was told at the appointment. At that point my wedding gown had minor alterations that were not at all discussed in my original meeting. They added bra clasp all down the back, managed to break the bottom of my zipper, and they fixed length. Now, my frustration came in when they mentioned the person who started the project wouldnt be there to finish. But, as the appointment went on I became more and more frustrated. All of the major alterations that needed to be made werent, and then there were a bunch of newer things that I never paid for nor requested. I rapidly mentioned I paid fully so there should have been nothing added to my bill.The biggest issue with this dress was the breast area. I was ensured everything would be fine but they had my dress 2 months and all that was done was length and uncomfortable bra hooks to the back. Ridiculous! I intentionally wanted my gown down ahead of the wedding in case of issues and i am glad I did. Nevertheless, the receptionist wanted me to wait another month almost a week away from the wedding date. By this point my bridesmaid who attended was furious and broke down how little time we had considering we traveled all the way from New Jersey and the event was about a month away.Although I had an initially positive experience with this location, I found how they resolved the issues that arose unprofessionally. Weddings are no joke and when an issue occurs a call to the bride needs to be made immediately so resolution and comfort in trust on behalf of the bride is maintained. I feel there was no consideration of the timeline, the travel time, or the severity of the event. Highly disappointed and I dont recommend considering all of the issues I experienced.

Okay so I am 29 years old and this was my first time having alterations done in general. I didnt quite know what to expect but, what I can tell you is my experience was well over a 10 !I am getting married next month and having had noticed my dress did not quite fit the way I would have liked I spoke to a specialist from Grace Loves Lace (where my beautiful dress is from) and they referred me to Alteration Specialists. There was no doubt in my mind not to accept their referral so I booked as soon as I could.During my appointment I was greeted by a Gentlemen named Lawrence who expressed that whatever both my mom and I needed he would be able to help.I was advised to change into my dress and my specialist would be with me as soon as I am ready. Thats when Matt came along ! When I tell you all this man did was grab a piece of my dress (didnt even pin it yet) and I saw a difference I knew at that moment I was at the right place !I was scheduled for only 2 weeks after so that I can try on my dress and hopefully take it home. Upon arrival there was Lawrence who was super kind just like the first time we met.This was the magical moment for me .... When I put that dress on *inserts shocked emoji*I fell in love with it all over again. Both my mom and I were in utter shock with how well it fit. Matt even adjusted the bustle to where it just made the dress look even more extraordinary. My mom would not stop speaking about it.To Lawrence, Thank you so much for your hospitality.To Matt, Thank you for tuning into my thoughts and making my dress fit exactly how Id imagine. God bless Alteration Specialists SoHo! I got a bridesmaid dress altered here and had a wonderful experience. The location is beautiful and the people are great. I went to go pick up my dress on Sunday and realized they were closed Sunday and Monday. The flight to the wedding is Tuesday at 7am and I was full blown panicked I was going to ruin this wedding because I didnt get my dress. I emailed and DMd them on Instagram and someone texted me saying they would open the store for me today (Monday) just so I could get the Bridesmaid dress in time. They saved the day and I am forever grateful!!! I will only use them moving forward. Thank you so much for being kind about my ridiculously stupid mistake! Lesson learned!

Just wanted to share what a great experience I had this morning at the Soho Alterations Specialists location! I bought a wedding dress from Grace Loves Lace in Soho, and while it was made to my measurements, I needed a small alteration and I was recommended to this tailor by GLL. The location is clean, sleek, and modern, everyone was so professional and kind, and my tailor Matt was able to to my alterations on the spot (which I was not expecting but super grateful for as my mom and I came to the city from NJ for this!)Highly recommend!!

Atef Wahba is the best tailor. Hes very nice, professional, and listens to what you need. If youre like me and have to alter all of your designer clothes, but dont know who to trust - go to Atef! Also, their space in Soho is private, modern, and has a nice view. Highly Recommend!

Overall, I was disappointed with my experience here. I took two dresses here to be altered and frankly, neither job was done correctly. The result of my appointment here were two dresses that were unwearable. Save yourself a few hundred dollars and go to the dry cleaner tailor in your neighborhood.I tried to talk to the business about my experience and they were SO rude on the phone. Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They wouldnt let me talk to anyone higher up than their front desk receptionist who adamantly told me it was my fault for not trying the dresses on in store. I honestly wasnt even looking for a refund, an apology would have even been nice. Those were definitely not offered and when the receptionist said hed set me up with someone higher up, I never heard back.Heres what happened to me:I brought in 2 dresses in for weddings to get altered. I was looking for a job well done and something I could count on looking great for the two weddings I was in this summer. My first dress fit perfectly, it was just extremely long. The man who measured my dress was extremely adamant that I wear heels with the dress. The wedding was on a golf course and heels were prohibited, I tried to explain this but he kept telling me to wear heels with the dress. I made it clear I had to wear flats because the event was on a golf course (also, why was it so important to him that I wear heels anyways?) I picked up my dresses in a hurry and to be fair, against their advise, I didnt try them on in store. (I mean..I just paid $400 for the alterations and it was, what I thought, a very simple fix! what could go wrong?)I got to the event day and my dress was SO long. He apparently cut the dress, but not nearly enough for me to wear flats and look presentable....had I worn heels, the dress would have fit perfectly...so upsetting.The second dress I got altered was taken in and cups were put in the dress. With the cups in the dress, it was WAY too tight...like so tight that when I zipped it up, the front seams popped out and broke. I had to tape the dress to my chest for the rest of the wedding. I threw away the dress as soon as the wedding ended.This place is phony and elitist. Wouldnt go here again if they paid me to.

My fiancé and I had to shift our wedding to next year due to COVID-19 but are still having a civil ceremony this fall, so I bought a new wedding dress for the ceremony day. I wasnt sure I should get it altered since it fit close enough, but Im SO glad I decided to go to Alteration specialists Soho. Matt did an amazing job! The changes he made to add boning and hem the length are perfect and really make a huge difference in how the dress falls/fits and how I feel in the dress. They were so easy to work with, friendly and quick, and even steamed and wrapped the dress and veil so theyre protected and ready for the big day. I couldnt have had a better experience - hands down 5 stars!!

Atef is a magician - he turned the largest, oldest vintage suit that I found into an absolute wonder. I am forever grateful to him. He worked incredibly quickly and diligently to transform a suit that was at least 3 sizes too large into one that I will proudly wear for my wedding. I could not recommend his services more. I’ve been getting my all clothes tailored for going on ten years now and this has been by far my best experience. I’ve slowly learned more through the years and Atef is a patient teacher in explaining thing’s about working with the garments.Atef also will let you know if thing’s aren’t needed so you’re not wasting money. Also I’ve always had a problem with my shirts being too long and unique garments around where I need gemmed, he figured out a way to achieve WHAT I WANTED while respectfully giving his expert opinion.Lawrence is super nice, easy to call and help figure out scheduling.
