I do not write reviews very often, but I had to write this review providing the highest recommendation possible for this local barbershop I have been going to regularly for the past three years. The service is always prompt, the location is clean, and most importantly, the haircuts are great and the barbers are simply nice people who I enjoy speaking with. It is a must-go for anyone in the area.I particularly recommend Shantl for a haircut during the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only do they need your business during this difficult time to stay open, but they are exercising all available precautions to ensure a safe visit. I recently made an appointment for a haircut and it was just me and the barber in the shop and the barber kept his mask on the entire time. He also allowed me to keep my mask on until he was cutting the area around my ears. If you have been holding off on a haircut due to potential risk of exposure, this is the place to go to ensure a safe and clean visit.

According to my wife, this might be the best haircut youve had outside of me shaving your head last year.

Sariah (sounds like Sah Ry ah) our barber was awesome. We walked in, described how i wanted my 8yr old sons hair cut and she went to work.She was gentle and patient like a female Edward scissor hands.He had an afro with is own fan page that desperately needed cutting. Just look at the before and after photos and judge for yourself.Suffice it to say, whenever Im back in New York, this is the only barber for us, pictures dont lie.

This is a great neighborhood spot. Ilan was my barber and he was phenomenal. Understood exactly what I wanted and executed to perfection. He’s a great conversation too, and the whole experience is great. Will be back regularly.

Came in long hair and asked the barber for a small trim off the top and keep it long and a 1 on the sides. My sides are not even and the top is i the shortest it had been in years. I asked for a small trim to keep it long and i got the complete oppisite. He did not take his time at all and rushed thru my haircut I will NEVER go back

Do not go here. I went because of the great reviews and Ive never been more sorry. I asked for a simple cut: keep the slicked back top long, take down the sides and back, taper them together. Somehow that meant buzz everything on the sides and back up to the crown and leave a single long layer. Now I have a mop on my head (see pic). There is no gradient, it just goes from buzzed to long. I immediately went to another barber to try and fix it but he said this guy fd it up so bad, Id either have to buzz everything or just wait for it to grow back.

The barbers are fun to talk to, and they really take the time to pay close attention to detail. Even better if you can tell or show them exactly what you want. I think they’re the best in the area, and their prices are fair.I will be coming back here regularly so long as I reside in the area

Ive been coming here on and off for the past 2 years. Always have a great haircut and value for the upper east side! Just had all that and a nice conversation with, Ilan, who is the best! Will definitely be back.

What a nice haircut experience. My boy Arthur is a true artist - takes his time. He will spin you around, lean over this or that way and grip his scissors 20 different ways in order to get it just right. Doesnt force conversation either. The place was nice and clean with good music, and they had the World Cup on TV. What more could you ask for? Top notch. Thanks, Arthur!

I have been coming to this barber shop since moving to the neighborhood two years ago. Elon is always friendly and kind and remembers me. Most importantly, he is a skilled and experienced barber that makes helpful recommendations and is careful with his work- whether using scissors, electric, or blade (and I rarely trust anyone with my beard). I always leave feeling like a new man. I highly recommend this barber shop and will continue to frequent it.

Victoria is a great barber. She listens to what you want and takes her time to give you a good cut. Im very happy with my haircut and would definitely recommend her.

I’ve been going to this and the other location for a bunch of yesrs now and have always been happy with the team of barbers. The owner, Alex, is great too—he makes sure that everything runs smoothly. I get my hair cut about 9-10 times each year, always before vacations in particular, so my memories are enshrined with the cuts I get here.

This is definitely the best barber shop to go to in the area. It is a well-priced haircut with barbers that make you feel comfortable every step of the way. It is the first time I went to this place and the blonde Victoria has been a real revelation. She took care of my (few remaining) hairs very carefully and followed my wishes to the letter - I am very happy with her job and the overall barbershop. Thus, I can warmly recommend!

This is hands down the best barbershop in the city, when they opened up close to my apartment, I was so excited because they were the only barbershop who know how to cut hair. As professional and affordable as it gets, I love this place and I’d be shocked to hear otherwise!

I go far out of my way to get a haircut with Ilyan. He is a great guy who goes out of the way to give you a good cut. Unbelievable fade work with the clippers and skilled with the scissors. Unreal value for the time and effort they put in, which is a dying breed in Manhattan nowadays.

If you want a serious razor smooth shave come here and ask for Uncle Mike. I live in MALAYSIAN and I am used to well knows smooth shaving from Indian barbers, and Uncle Mike is definitely at par.

Terrible service. If I could put 0 stairs I would do. I asked for the barber to cut a little more on the sides because he never asked me if he had done enough and his answer was “should I charge you for two haircuts then? Cause I have already done the sides twice”. Also I asked him to stop cutting the top at one point and he said he couldn’t because it had to be done one way and he didn’t want people to see a haircut like that, that was done at his barbershop.

Got a great cut here a couple weeks ago. Really happy with its look and the barbers really Ilan knows what he is doing. I always have trouble with fantastic sams and great clips and finally found a new spot i trust with my looks and style. great local barber shop and I love their new style and ay of doing things.
