The day I arrived in NYC was stressful. I was tired, overwhelmed, and in dire need of a fade. This place was just around the corner from my hotel and I stopped in. Even though I didn’t have an appointment, they squeezed me in. My barber actually has family in my hometown clear across the country, and I was pleased to know he knew a lot about the area I live in. The cut was expensive, but it was worth it for the accommodation and the conversation!

After moving to Chelsea from Queens, and trying out countless barbershop in the city, Ive got to say these guys are the best. They are super quick, give me the same beautiful haircut everytime and just generally know what works for people and what may not work for others. Very professional and skilled, highly reccomend to anyone living there to check them out. No reason to go to these other uppity barbers around the area.

Place has gone downhill. I use to live above it and got good hair cuts for a year. However, the last 2-3 trips Ive had the same barber who cuts my (curly) hair with a trimmer. Was very much less than satisfied. Ive decided to switch to a new barber shop.

Im a bit torn about 9th Ave Barber Shop. I was recommended to come, and got a pretty good haircut in the end. My hair is simple enough.However, when I sat down and began explaining what I wanted to the barber, he mostly ignored what I said and summarized what he thought I wanted in very simple terms. As I said, the end result was fine (its hard to mess up my hair) but I felt somewhat unheard and dismissed.Price was reasonable. Cash only.

This guy is the greatest. Really.Im a woman with a short cut who decides every now and then to walk into a traditional barber shop and see what happens. The owner understands customer service so, so well; hes friendly, inviting, and was so kind as to give me a minute to run upstairs and get the cash that I mistakenly thought I already had on me. My word. Beyond the great cut, he really makes the stop worth it. Great business and great service.

One of the cheapest Barbers in NYC, but they dont compromise on the quality of the cut!Walked in with no appointment in the morning on a Tuesday and was sitting in a chair within 10 minutes. I had a photo of my haircut and the barber instantly knew what to do, but asked specifically about hair length to double check. We started with a larger setting, but ultimately made it shorter. No sweat off the barbers back, he was super cool and didnt rush me.The haircut came out amazing and I will be coming back here for sure!

It’s a family owned place and I have been going there since they have opened which is like good 4 years and some of the nicest people and know how to cut hair and care. Anytime my friends visit from out of town they wait to go get a haircut from them because of how good of a job they do!!

Barber only has certain cuts they can do. If you ask for a cut that they dont know how to do, they say you cant do that with your hair type. I wanted to have a cut that I had for 20 years before going here so I know I could do it if the barber had any skill but after pointing this out he got ruff and stopped speaking to me. How uncomfortable and unnecessary. Im a nice person and still gave a 7.00 tip on 21.00 even after being made to feel very bad. Stupid me, right??? I just wanted to get out of there after being treated poorly. Hair grows back. Business relationships dont. Next time when a customer expresses unhappiness please listen and dont shut down and be angry. I really would have loved to be your customer. Good luck with that attitude. Hells Kitchen is only so forgiving!!!!

Ive been a customer of Alberts for years. Best hair cut every time. No rushing, and now that he has his own barbershop, hes happier and better than ever. Ive seen him do all kinds of cuts, mine is a simple executive cut which you think you can get anywhere but it looks better and lasts longer when he does it for me.

I tried this place yesterday for the first time because of all the amazing reviews across multiple sites. Someone from this business has to be creating fake accounts. I got the worst haircut I have ever received in my life-- the fade on the left side of my head made a wave motion which I had to trim down myself, and the right side has a weird squared-off shape to complement the rounded left side. I cannot express enough how bad this looks. Time to invest in some hats, I guess!

Have come here three times since moving into the city, have gotten three great cuts, each from a different person. Took a little bit but found my go to barbershop.

This is the first review I have written but my experience was so bad had to warn others. First it is expensive. But figure you get good service. I got a hot shave as well and by the end was bleeding all over my neck. The razor wasn’t sharpened and it was a terrible experience do not go here.

I was only in NYC for the summer interning and had a final presentation in the near future. I looked up haircuts on google and this place popped up as closest. I usually cut my own hair since Ive never liked a haircut done by anyone other than me in the past.I walked into the barber shop and was sent to some older lady. I said, listen I have a presentation on Thursday and my hair is a mess (it looked like a mop on my head). I dont know measurements or anything like that I just want it to look professional. A little longer on top and trim the sides. She said, shh I take care and went to work.After she was done it is honestly the only haircut Ive ever liked. Gonna go kill my presentation now.

I come all the way from Harlem to get a haircut from Albert, the shops owner. Hes a little rough around the edges- but knows what he is doing. Great price for a detail oriented mens haircut and beard trim!

Great barber shop, I went on a Monday night around 6:30 PM and waited no more than 15 minutes. Haircut was good, price is fair at $21 for a mens haircut (Im used to prices like this in Chicago, so I dont understand why others here think its ridiculous given that its not a discount haircut chain). I dont believe they take reservations, walk-in only.

Quick (less than 20min) but mediocre. Showed him my previous hair cut. Didnt do the taper as shown. Only got the general shape right. Id not recommend unless you just want a shave.

Really bad attitude. When it was finally my turn I showed the barber a simple pic of a fade and he told me this is butchery, we dont do this here . I smiled and got up and left. If you dont know how to do it then just say that instead of insulting your costumers unwarranted. Never going here.

Albert in my opinion is the best barber in NYC, He takes his time and pays very close attention to detail, He knows how to give a great haircut no matter what style you are looking for or need done this is your man to get the job done !!! Always get the hot towel shave leaves your skin feeling great !

Good inexpensive barber shop... but just dont ask for a specific haircut because instead of making suggestions seems sometimes they want to give you a haircut more to thier liking... but for the neighborhood best prices and they are fluent in english as well... unfortunately after going there for months i most likely wont be returning... when you are paying for a service and ask for a specific haircut i always honour someones opinion but you shouldnt tell your customers what they want then just do it because you are an experienced barber... oh well...
