I’ve been getting my hair cut by Alex for years now. It took trial and error to find the right barber in Manhattan but after finding Alex the first time I’ve been going back to him ever since. Frank’s feels old school and comfortable. All the attention is on your cut at this no-frills old school village spot, and Alex has mastered his craft.

I went in for a haircut and the cut itself WOULDVE been fine if it was what I had asked for. I had longer hair and said I wanted to “clean it up, take just under an inch off…” and intended to keep it a little longer. I take off my glasses for the haircut. Next thing I know it feels like a buzz cut on the sides and my sideburns are gone. Never been to a barber that doesn’t ask before cutting sideburns. And after doing more than what I wanted, I’m told that the bill is $40?? I bit the bullet and gave them their forty bucks, but this isn’t a place I’ll be returning to any time soon. I’m just glad hair grows back

Been going there since before the Internet. Franks Barbershop is the soul of Greenwich Village. You get much more than a haircut: you go in like a regular guy and exit feeling like a duke. Its a barbershop for kids aged 8 to 88.

Well priced (30 for a cut and shampoo) and the best cut Ive had since I moved to the city. Sal did a great job and took his time, even using a straight razor to clean up my sideburns and neck line. This is a great old school barber shop.

I have been going to this barber shop in Greenwich Village since my childhood years when it was owned by Italians and all the barbers were Italians. They were Frank, Joe and Salvatore (Sal). Budget prices for great & detailed haircuts. Frank sold the barbershop even though it retains his name, while Joe works at another barber shop and Sal is the only one left. I go to Sal to get my cut every 6 weeks and it still reminds me of living in the neighborhood. The new owner is pleasant and has surprisingly retained the barber shop as the original with of course some minor upgrades and an increase in prices that remain reasonable compared to other barber shops in the city. If youre in the Village neighborhood and want an old-school cut & shave, then stop by this unpretentious barber shop, you wont be disappointed.

I cant speak for the quality of the cuts, but these guys are clowns. I went in to ask the price, and instead of just telling me what it was, one of the barbers gave me a load of BS and basically made fun of me for asking. One of the other barbers even told him to shut up. There are a million barber shops in the city and I dont need to put up with that kind of crap.

Franks has been in the neighborhood for all of my life, and I have been going for 35 years. I have occasionally strayed to fancier salons, but I always seem to come back. Simple, inexpensive hair cuts from guys with decades of experience. No frills. Clientele is pretty much all men. Great hidden spot with tons of history.

My only barbershop in city. They are clean, friendly and they know what they are doing. The first impression that I got was amazing because they always listen carefully to what you want and do accordingly. Even I went one step further and I let Alex to choose my hairstyle for me(I could trust his taste and skills), and Ive never regret that. Ive been to couple of them there they are all good and my favorite is Alex.

Great barbershop! old fashioned, you get a great cut and they shave the back with a real razor and shaving cream. The only place where I can ask for a normal haircut and they know what that means. Very traditional, high quality

Walked in there in between classes and was seated right away. Down to earth guys who know how to cut hair. Yuri gave me a killer fade and I will most definitely be back. A great shop in a great location.

This is by far the best hairstyle salon I have ever been to. I have had many bad experiences in the past with other barbers and had even gone as far as stop getting a haircut and growing my hair for a year and a half. Alex, Yuri, and I solved some issues I had with my hair that no other hairstylist has ever been able to solve. I have finally found some place where I can be a regular customer for years to come.

This is one, if not the best haircut and shave I have gotten on Manhattan. I dropped in and got serviced almost immediately, the barber - Alex I think his name was - was at the top of his game and turned me from looking like I had been living in a cave for a month (which I pretty much had - Mathematics student) to looking fantastic!Will make this my go to barbershop!

Best place to get a haircut for men in Manhattan, if not all of NYC. If the guys can make the frumpy hipsters of NYU, the divorced dads of around NYU, and the drunk graduate students soon-to-give-up-on NYU look presentable and/or not psychotic–at a reasonable rate for this cesspool of a city–they are not only hairstylists but miracle workers. No other place Ill get my hair cut in town.

The place wasnt busy (I went mid-day), so Alex was able to take his time while I peppered him with questions about my new do. My girlfriend asked later that night if a laser hat cut my hair. Nuff said.
