Weve chosen this barbershop because we knew its the trusted one. On Sunday afternoon, I had my lovely haircut here. The barbers are very welcoming and friendly. Id come back here when I need another haircut. Also, I would make sure this place was recommended!

Never had a bad haircut from here. Actually, all great ones. And everyones really friendly.

Im not one to write a review but felt I needed to after my recent haircut. I went in, sat down, and showed a few pictures of my haircut from two weeks prior. I referenced that I wanted a mid skin fade that breaks at two fingers above my ear with about 1/4in off the top while keeping my head more rectangular rather than an oval (makes more sense in person). Also asked that little is taken off of my bangs which should have been accentuated via the pictures shown. After an hour, I got a skin fade that was three fingers above me ear (although still appealing) and about an inch off the top of my hair with my head now much more oval. My bangs are much shorter and I CAN NOT style my hair or wear my hair as desired in the pictures shown. My hair looked better before it was cut then after it was cut and I am extremely disappointed. I wonder if the barber even remember what I asked for? my haircut is now very much a different haircut and not at all what I asked for.I will say that the atmosphere is extremely friendly and welcoming, but my haircut went from being complimented every two weeks to bro, why did you get it cut like that? I will say it doesnt look awful, but it is not stellar and my personal confidence was knocked down 3 notches. Time to wait another month or two for my bangs to grow back...

This is where you should go if you want an expert to give you a great cut at a reasonable price. I moved to NYC a year ago and spent months searching for my dream barber, and I’ve finally found them. Most barbers ask you what you want, half listen to what you tell them, then give you a haircut that vaguely resembles what you were looking for. Not the guys (and gal) at Mildred. Your barber will have a real conversation with you about the look you’re trying to achieve and will offer their own opinions on what they think you should do. And they know better than you do. You’ve never seen the top or back of your own head.The atmosphere is fantastic and they have an adorable woofer who greats you at the door. They’ll also serve you water, coffee, or beer/liquor as you wait for your cut. I brought my dog there last time and they were super nice about it. My dog is also God’s gift to mankind, so that was to be expected.BRING CASH FOR A TIP. You can pay by card for your cut, but they only accept tips in cash. And you don’t want to be the guy who walks out of a barbershop looking handsome as hell, having not tipped the gentleman who turned you from questionably homeless to questionably famous.

Rob always does an incredible job, but all the staff here are great! I havent gone anywhere else for a cut since moving to the city, and I dont plan on changing that!

Hands down the best barber shop in the city. The staff is experienced and they may be the best in the business as far as Im concerned. This is the only place that I will let cut my hair. When youre there, they treat you like family. Very warm and welcoming place.

Too often in New York, when you walk into a cool restaurant, bar, etc, youre met with indifference or snubbed by the staff.At Mildred, Rob and Eric actually greet you with a smile and make you feel at home while youre getting a haircut.Ive been a regular of Robs for 3 years at BB and cant wait to see what he has in store at Mildred. So for anyone looking for a great haircut and great customer service give these guys a shot, but probably make an appointment online first.

I am tempted not to write this review because I want to keep this amazing place my little secret, but I have so much praise and respect for these guys that I had to share my experience here. I followed Paul from Blind Barber in Brooklyn after he opened up his own place with two fellow barber friends. I never thought that coming to the barber could be the best part of my day, but I look forward to every cut with Paul. Everyone who works there is so down to earth and friendly. There is always good conversation and plenty of laughs- probably aided by the free beer and whisky they offer. And the haircuts? I will never let anyone else ever touch my hair again. My hair is thin and difficult to cut, and I have never felt so confident and happy with a haircut- and I always get compliments after a fresh cut- something that never happened before. They really make you feel like part of your family here, and I could not recommend them more.
