Old-fashioned barber shop for only $14 in Chelsea but with subpar cleanliness and inconsistent quality. The quality of haircut significantly varies by barbers. The seat cushion is covered by hair without proper cleaning. Had an surprisingly good one for my first visit, but had a terrible one with a different barber for the next visit. Unless you know what to expect, its a hit or miss all by chance here.

Same experience as the last review. I stopped by at 9:40 AM (hours say 9am open) and the shop was dark and closed 😞

I wanted to give this place a chance because of the unbeatable haircut price I saw when I walked by. I went around noon, and the door was locked. I probably shouldve taken this as a sign, but instead I knocked and out came a old school barber. When I walked in I felt like I transported to the 1970s. I showed him a old picture of myself with the style I wanted and was optimistic. When I put back on my glasses after he was done I was kind of in shock at how bad the cut was. I was way shorter than I showed him basically everywhere except the bangs which were uneven and much longer than they shouldve been. Figuring there was nothing I could ask him to fix that I couldnt fix myself I paid and walked out. I wont be returning to say the least; very disappointing.

Willie did a fantastic job for a great price. He took his time, which I appreciated. I don’t mind waiting a little longer for an excellent cut from a small neighborhood shop—it’s worth it to me and I’m very happy with my haircut and plan to be back.

My late father (Louis Santana) frequented Wilies. My older brother (Louis) still goes here and now his son (Louis) just discovered it. In ALL NYC, This is the Best !!!

So Im legally blind. I cant see a face two feet in front of me but my barber was so detail oriented that I could see how much attention he put into my haircut. He was friendly and my hair looks fantastic Im totally going back and I would recommend him to anybody looking for a good haircut in Chelsea

Guys are freindly. You wouldnt think they know the latest styles looking at them but they do. Great prices, great music, perfect atmosphere.

If you dislike those uselessly fancy, overpriced hair stylists, this place is for you. Its an old school barbershop complete with red and white pole and fair prices. Haircuts are good and service is polite. I have become a regular.

Every time I am in that neighborhood, I stop into Willys shop for a quick haircut. Hes located on 18th St. not far from the post office. Hes one flight (6 steps) down and he cuts old style, the best way.

I love Willies. Willie is nice and always provides a great cut. He works slowly and methodically but I always come away looking great.

Amazing that you can get a haircut here for $14 in the center of NYC. Classic barber shop, recommended. Opening hours seem to vary with when the owner feels like showing up but other than that cant go wrong.

He smelled of cigarette and spent forever on my hair with the scissors. It was uneven but in the end, I left without a satisfactory cut because I just had to get out of the cluttered, stuffy underground space. Oh, and he left quite a sprinkling of cuttings on my forehead and neck.
