Im a black male with curly hair - I always worry about finding a barber that can work with my texture. The barbers at Elegant G were absolutely amazing. I was in and out within 20 minutes and had an absolutely phenomenal experience. The shop is clean, looks great, and they even have some alcohol for those who enjoy something to drink with a cut.I will definitely be returning and recommend this shop to anyone who is looking for barbers that can work with diverse hair.

Ive been coming to Elegant G for a few months now. Ive tried a number of barbershops across the city ranging from $20 - $50 per haircut and finally settled on this place. Haircuts are ~$30 before tip and I feel like the quality is on par with haircuts Ive gotten for over $50.Ive had good experiences with most of the barbers but Sam in particular is great! Highly recommend.

So as a black man I can’t just have anyone touch my hair but I found Elegant G barbershop and looked at the reviews and saw there were several brothers who gave their stamp of approval. I’ve been there twice and they haven’t disappointed! It’s safe to say this gonna be my spot as long as I’m in Manhattan.

I first started coming to Elegant G in the summer or 2018 when I moved to NYC for an internship. I was looking for a barber who specialized in cutting Asian hair and saw that Sam (the owner) was highly recommended. Sam hasn’t disappointed in the 3 years I’ve been coming to him. He is extremely consistent and will also listen to what you want. If you’re unsure, he is happy to give recommendations. I am very happy with the quality of Sam’s cuts, and I think the price is well worth it. Honestly, Sam could be charging a lot more than he does now. He is also just a really nice, personable human being. I highly recommend him, especially if you’re looking for someone who is good with Asian hair.

I have been coming to Sam at Elegant G Barbershop for 6 years now. He is the only person I will let cut my hair. I have thick hair with several cowlicks and he always manages to get the job done. I came to Elegant G after moving into the neighborhood 2 years ago. This was the second or third barbershop I visited and immediately became my go-to place. I have been paying way too much money, for way too long, for a haircut in NYC that was just fine...until I found Elegant G barber shop! You get as much attention and detail to your needs as the other pricier barber shops. Sam is my go to barber. He’s highly proficient, knowledgeable about all hair types and just over all a pleasant person to have a conversation with. He’s quick to figure out what you want in a haircut. I’ve had haircuts with other barbers when Sam wasn’t around and I can honestly say that I’ve had just as good of an experience, so the options are there. Ive been coming to Elegant G for years and its still the best barbershop Ive been to. All the barbers in the shop are great. They will help teach you about your hair and give you great tips. I moved to Brooklyn last year and still come back at least once a month since theyre the best.

The only place in NYC where Ive had a good experience thus far with barbers who know how to cut Asian hair. Most of the time, Ive tried other highly rated barbers who have made a mess of my cut because they dont know how to cut asian hair. This is the one place Ive found thus far that does my hair on point, every time. They unfortunately do not take appointments (walk ins only), but Ive yet to have had a bad experience with any of the barbers on duty that day. Pop by when you have time (weekdays are less crowded) and I am pretty sure you wont be disappointed. (Mens standard haircut are around $28 for reference)

I’ve been coming to Elegant G since the day the opened. Anytime someone new moves to the neighborhood I always recommend them to go here for a haircut.If it’s any indication of how great they are at their craft, I just drove 1 hour and 45 minutes from my other residence just to get a haircut, and I’m driving back right after. Very friendly staff but the haircut was really disappointing. I came in because I read a review that mentioned that this place would acceptable for Asian hair but the final result was a let down. I would only recommend if you have a very simple haircut (like a buzz cut) as it is a reasonable price ($28).Response to owner:1. That is untrue. I had been growing my hair out for over two months prior to coming. I’ve had the same hairstyle for years and that is the reason why I was the one to mention during the cut that it was too short.

Ive been coming to Sams shop for the last 5 years, starting only a couple months after he first opened. In fact, Ive lived in Manhattan for 10+ years, and this is the only shop Ive come back to even after every time Ive moved. In the past Ive usually waited for Sam, but he personally knows and hires most of his team, and Ive never had an issue with any of his barbers. His team, like him, is mostly Asians from Eastern Europe. Given that, Ive found that theyre probably one of the best in the city at working with thick Asian hair. Although Ive rarely had a problem, especially after the first 1-2 trips with the same barber, if you voice your concern in the seat they (and Sam personally) will make sure you leave happy.

Have been going to elegant g for about 2 years now. Initially found them from the great reviews. Have used multiple different barbers: Vito (moved out of state), Farukh, Tim and Sam (owner).Can say that Sam really runs a great shop in making sure the barbers that work there know what they’re doing, have attention to detail and provide great service. That being said, my haircuts have been amazing. Price is extremely reasonable. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a barber.

The go to guy is Sam, does a very clean fade with scissor cut on top. Went all covid and was priced very competitively with the other barbershops in the area.
