Marisela gave me one the best haircuts/experiences I have ever had. I have been going between different barbers for the last 8 years in NYC unhappy with all. I have medium length hair. Marisela was extremely thorough and actually gave her opinion on how to style my hair. She is very good at what she does and cares about her work. I will be recommending to all. Definitely a 10/10.

Cannot say enough good things about this place. Marcel is personable, calm, efficient, kind and TALENTED! Ever since I started going there I havent stopped, and the pricing is perfect. I have a womens pixie cut, and she takes care to make me feel in control of the look I am going for, all with the addition of her own expertise.The folks she has working there are also great - I went with my boyfriend once (date night! lol) and both of us left extremely satisfied.Overall: cannot rec enough! Tried a variety of places around the city over the past few years, and recently moved into a walkable distance from Marcels. I was very happy with the price, location, and professionalism from all of the staff. My hair was cut by Marcel, and Ive been going back since! I needed a change after my hair had grown out during quarantine, but I had all the wrong ideas. Marcel saved me by suggesting a different cut and color route, she knows her stuff. I already booked my next appointment to come in for color. She was also so caring to explain her techniques so I can mimic them when Im getting ready at home. Been growing out my hair for awhile now. Last time I got a trim at another place and they cut a lot off and I had to re-grow it out for another 6 months. I was afraid of getting a haircut ever since. I found this AMAZING place on Google and decided to give it a try because I really needed a clean up.I am impressed! Marcels did a GREAT job. The owner and her staff are amazing with boys haircut. I have taken my 7 year old child to the barbers around the same area and have been unsatisfied. Marcel’s unisex salon is great for kids. Found this place online and decided to give it a try because I was in the neighborhood. I usually hit the $20 express Japanese haircut place and thought Id try out a proper barbershop/salon. I was pleasantly surprised at the end result and think it is a huge upgrade from how my hair was cut. Marisela knew exactly what I wanted and even made a few improvements. I will definitely come back here to cut my hair. Its affordable and the job is well done.

Marisela has been my hair specialist for about 15 years. I followed her from Astoria to Jackson Heights and now to Marcels on the Upper West Side. When I tell her what I want she understands exactly and delivers. When I request a suggestion, I trust her eye for knowing the right cut for my face shape and what will look good. She is also very pleasant and friendly, and thoroughly professional. The salon is clean and comfortable, and especially important during the pandemic, nice and big for appropriate social distancing. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

She is amazing! I live in the UWS and had usually gotten haircuts after work in Flatiron. When the pandemic hit, I had to look for somewhere closer to my place (hair was a total mess) and stumbled across Marcels Unisex Salon. This is the only place Ive been for a haircut since! She knows how to cut hair for both men and women. Also, not that this matters, but Im 65 and she is very much shorter than me, didnt even make me slouch down so she could cut the top of my head. She got on her tip-toes! Love that extra touch ensuring my own comfort in the chair.

I went in to fix a bad haircut I got from a different barbershop the day before and Marisela couldn’t have been more attentive or better at working through the cut with me. This is my 4th time since I first tried Marcel in July and each time, I am very happy with how Marcel cuts my hair. She takes pride in her work and always consistently tries to make sure that I am happy with my haircut. Shes very meticulous and constantly asks for feedback during the process whether or not I like how my hair looks. Because I told her that I am very concerned with Covid, she makes sure that I can see her disinfect all the gadgets that she uses to cut my hair. My first time there and I’ll definitely be back! Marisela gave me great advice, colored my hair beautifully and gave me a fantastic cut. I went from over-bleached, damaged hair to a lovely brunette with silky finish. She had a lot of patience with my hesitancy and answered all my questions. When she was finished with my hair she asked to make sure I was happy with it (I was thrilled with it) and told me how to best care for it to improve its health. My husband’s eyes popped wide when he saw me and said he wants to go to her himself. And, as was mentioned in other reviews, Marisela is genuine, caring, professional and attentive. I’m so grateful I found her.
