Mady does a good job with cutting my hair exactly as I want it. Also, he has a really affordable price which I was surprised about considering its NYC. For new customers, kids or seniors he has a special so definitely ask for it of that applies to you. His prices are transparent and I go to him whenever Im in the city and need a cut.

Skilled barber, clean location, gives a neat haircut. Mady gave me the advertised new customer discount on my first haircut and I’ve been going to home ever since. I usually get there right around closing time but I call in advance and he is always kind enough to stay open to accommodate me.

I go to see Mady every two weeks to clean up my fade. Always a good job! At another barber, it wasnt very precise or even, but he gets it right. Pleasant to talk to, and very efficient.

I tried Madys for the first time since my usual barber (Makas), which is right next door, was closed for the day and also because there was a sign advertising a new customer discount. After the haircut, I asked about the discount and was told that it was only for kids, even though the sign had no mention of it (zoom in on the sign in the attached pic). Consequently, I was charged full price ($24). The haircut was good but the bait and switch left a bad taste in my mouth. Makas had actually warned me about their dishonest pricing tactics and poor attempt to replicate the shops name (Madys vs Makas) to steal Makas regulars (Makas has been around longer). I had just chalked it up to typical competitor scare tactics. Unfortunately, I was wrong and I will not be going back. The haircut at Makas is just as good and cheaper ($19). I never had to think you would have to do this at a barbershop in America but, if you do go to Madys, ask for the price before you sit down, even if its clearly marked.

I was a regular at this barber shop while living in New York. All around a great guy who took well care of me. Very reasonably priced, and always a pleasure to swing by.

Ive been going to Mady’s for a haircut for a few months now since Ive moved and I have to say that Ive been very pleased with all of my cuts so far. Mady’s always asking questions about how you want your hair to look and then proceeds to make it so, and he knows exactly what hes doing. Shops very clean and is a relaxing environment to be in, and Mady himself as a very chill guy. Would recommend if youre new and looking for a barber in Kips Bay!Edit: wanted to add that upon letting him know I had a special event coming up, he went the extra mile to make sure the cut was super special! Very appreciated!
