I have been going to Wee for years, always happy with the haircut. He is extremely accommodating. Uses scissors not an electric clipper.
I have been going to Maria for years she does a fantastic job! She is like an artist and always has a wonderful attitude. I highly recommend her!
Joseph always takes good care of me and has strict covid protocols to give his fellow Barbers and his clients comfort they are being watched out for. Another solid cut. Thanks
Worst experience ever. I booked a haircut+ beard trim with Joseph but when I arrived someone else took care of me (and of course no one asked if I was OK with it).I really wonder if this person has even been hairdresser in his life. Did not understand what I asked him. He cut my hair too short on the top and not enough on the sides. There was no harmony at all in the cut. For the beard same thing. On top of it he used such an old mower that he hurt my throat which was full of scratches.I stopped the service and left as fast as I could. And of course, I had to pay the full price... a shame!
Excellent professional and clean
I got a great haircut here from Maria, who was very nice and easy to talk to. Interesting mix of local and out of town clientele. I will definitely go back whenever I am in the neighborhood.
Was in the area and needed a cut. Shop has a nice old school atmosphere to it and the older gentleman who cut my hair was very nice (both of those factor into why i gave them a 2 instead of 1). However he took way too much off the top of my head and he barely even lined up my sideburns. He put way too much hair grease in my hair which made the cut look worse than it does now, overall not a terrible haircut but its not what i wanted at all. I left and now im going to my regular barber (Strong Island Styles) to get my sides fixed and my edges properly lined up. All i would honestly avoid this place.
Great place, people are really amazing. If you go please call before, I highly recommend Mario he is the best.
Great haircut with friendly service and convenient location.
Was recommended 2go to 56th street Barber Shop!!! John gave me a shape up around the ears & neck, & then a really nice shave!!!! Was happy till I got 2 the register!!!! & The guy collecting the money tells me $50!!!!! I look @ him like he was nuts!!!! Asked why $50???? He said U got a shave & a haircut!!! I said no I didn’t!!! He insisted I did!!!! $18 for a shave & $30 for a haircut!!!! I Loved John great job!!!! But the guy @ the register lost a customer!!!! Never C me in there again!!!!!
Joseph has been cutting my hair for more than 7 years now, and I dont trust anyone else to do it. Haircut is worth every penny.
I like the haircut I got here. It’s a nice, comfortable old-style shop with Frank Sinatra playing in the background. I paid $29 plus tip for a basic men’s cut, which is more than I’m used to but not so bad.
I had ask about a close barber to The Plaza Hotel...this place was recommended. I walked upstairs and got a great haircut. Joseph was professional and thorough. Finished up with a clean neck shave and out the door! I would very much recommend!
Great hidden gem. I had joseph he did fabulous job! All the barbers here are pros,I will definitely be coming back next time I need a haircut
Had a haircut done by Mr. Said. Nothing to complain about. Very satisfied with the results and speed. I was in a hurry so asked if I can have it done fast. He did it perfect and professionally. Recommend.
Its a Barber shop with prices more akin to that of a Mens Hair Salon.Had a haircut done by Maria, the Romanian lady. She did a fair job and was quite fast, maybe a little too fast. I have hair like Sonic the Hedgehog, and I asked for a fair amount to be taken off -- doing just that in 20 minutes takes a bit of a slapdash approach towards hairdressing. ... and Ive got some small Jewish side-curls going on right now, but thats kind of expected when you enter a NYC Barber shop. The reason for the star deduction is really because of the price.
Really nice place, Mario took care of me did exactly what I asked from him and puted all the effort that needed
Got a great haircut for a good price. I enjoyed the conversation. And some really great music playing
Average barber experience. A little expensive; $52 for shave and haircut + tip. I think for the price using clippers with an attached vacuum or washing clients hair should be the standard (otherwise you have hair clipping on your face and clothes, etc.) Face shave was ok...missed several patches on my face. No towel massage to speak of. Staff was friendly, background music was nice. Have received much better haircuts for a fraction of the price back home.
I live close-by and have been going to Barber Shop on 56 th for awhile now. Their services are great! They will have you looking sharp in no time!
I get pretty picky about these things, but this place was in the sweet spot of how I like my hair cut and for how much. The guy gave me a wet shave on the back of my neck and there isnt a stray strand to speak of on my head. Pretty straight forward. I dont think Id go here to get the maverick of all haircuts, but if you know what you want and you want a relatively silent experience, this is the place.
I dont like hair salons and usually opt for a simple clipper haircut at a barber shop. However, after the visit to this place I feel like I should reconsider. I paid $25+tip for a very sloppy and uneven haircut. I feel like I would have done it better myself. The woman who cut my hair was super nice but her clipper was old and it kept pulling out my hair, which was quite unpleasant. The interior of the shop, located on the 2nd floor, desperately needs an upgrade. The only thing I enjoyed was jazz music in the background, but thats not enough to make me come back, alas.
Good haircut but poor shave. Having had many shaves in many barber shops around the world, my understanding is that a hot towel shave is supposed to be closer and create less friction than a home shave. Long firm strokes with the razor should clean each spot. Needing it only to be touched once with the razor, therefore leaving minimal damage to the skin. This guy used short scrapes going over the same spot several times leaving me with horrible rashes that will no doubt sting for a few days. At $76 (including $20 tip) you can find much better in the city. Ill not come back here again.
Great cut! Wonderful atmosphere. Sam was an incredible barber and a great guy.
Best service in town! Beard looks much better now
John... great hair and beard trim. Definitely be back next time I’m in NYC
Convenient midtown barber swiftly buzzes you in and once youre at the 2nd story barber shop youre offered a comfortable seat (in the likely event of a wait) before getting seated for barbering.$25 gets you a professional job - worthy of the 5 tip I usually drop in afterwards. The wall of celebrities adorning the waiting area includes a number of recognizeable faces.
Very bare not a fancy place but gets the job done right for reasonable money in 15 minutes if you book appointment on line
Great cut and shave, I would recommend to any one looking for traditional straight razor shave and good vibe
Just flew in from Los Angeles and needed a great looking haircut for work...found this place on Google and read the reviews so I thiught I would give it a try...brought in a picture of the haircut I wanted and Maria was like a wizard who magically turned me from a frog to a prince with an amazing cut and style...even got a neck shave and hot towel massage to top it off...great service and professional grade craftsmanship
Friendly, professional, and reasonably priced
Great, hamdsome haircuts! The barbers are friedly, professional and care about their customers. Not too pricy. Best barbershop in Midtown!
The guy who cut my hair was friendly, which is why I am giving 2 stars instead of 1, but I got one of the worst hair cuts Ive ever had this weekend. I dont think he was paying attention at all. Its completely uneven and he missed spots with the razor. And this is an improvement from what he originally did, since I had to ask him to go back to fix some things he clearly missed at first.
On 2nd floor. Outside of the odd entrance/location, it is a very good barber shop. $26 for a mens haircut.
Best haircut ever. Carlos was great. He knows his history too.
Great haircut and excellent service, try it you won’t regret it.
Great barbershop, Joseph is the man, he knows his stuff, also I tried Maria, she is good barber and very nice always smiling.
Really nice people and i got a great cut for a fair price. I will be coming back.
Happy Holiday Party And the gym now and your mo
Great service. Will go back
Probably the worst place I’ve gotten a haircut at. Back has patches missing, front is crooked. Took off three times more than what was asked for. Oh and they don’t take refunds. Walk a bit further and skip this place.
Good barbershop at a reasonable price.
This is my go to place for a haircut in midtown.
Good cuts, hot towels.
My favorite place to get a haircut
Great old school barber shop
Great traditional barbershop with friendly service!
Very professional people, haircut looked terrific
Efficient, consistent and open early
Great work and great staff
Theres cheaper shops nearby
Great Shop
Good but expensive
Sorry, but $ 60 for a shave is excessive, plus I had to touch up at home!
Adam liked it
