We are in process of moving into The Lakes and are so appreciative of the professionalism and support from the team. From the moment of our first call and now a couple visits, we have been treated with the utmost kindness. Initially we thought we would explore several apartments; this was our first one and we are in in process of finalizing the move-in. The quality of the building is solid and the staff are top notch. We are excited to be part of this community. Shout out to Ezra for being so kind and patient as we transition to our new home.

I have lived at The Lakes for 21/2 yrs and it is an amazing community. The apts have exceptional amenities but it is the people that make this so wonderful. The staff does an exception job of making everyone feel special and the residents are an eclectic mix of interesting, dynamic people of all age groups. It is a family but not one where you are required to show up for all the festive events that are held. Participate as much as you want but you will always find beautiful people there for you. I am proud to call this my home.❤️❤️

I have been here for 2 years. I just signed a 15-month extension. The best of all worlds, a rooftop overlooking Calhoun. Pool & Club Room is second to none in the Minneapolis area. Apartments are well done, luxury at its finest. I so love the trails and walkability to grocery stores and restaurants. An active luxury lifestyle done easy. Thank you for the staff that makes it all work well!!!

The Good: The apartments are nice, modern, and better finished than their nearby peers (large, modern, rental buildings). The apartments arent anything special but they are nice. The Bad: The Lakes Residences is an atrociously wasteful expenditure. While all of the modern apartment buildings in the area are profiteering and gouging compared to rentals with private landlords or older buildings in the same area, and dwarf the cost of buying on an annualized basis - The Lakes Residences has taken this to an absurd plateau all their own.To put this in concrete perspective, you could buy a 3-4 million dollar home, which is the very upper limit of fine houses available in Minneapolis, for the equivalent cost of some of their apartments. (But they are lake-facing! --- you could buy the best lake-facing mansions in the city for less!)Some shoppers think renting is always less efficient than buying, but thats not true. Im talking apples to apples comparisons regarding the money you will be losing via mortgage interest and property tax less federal income tax deductions - or rent - not money being invested in home equity etc.In summary, if you might buy - buy. If you want to rent, rent from a private landlord or an older building. If you must rent a modern building, choose a cheaper one (all the others), unless you can negotiate the price down substantially (40%+).The Ugly: If you choose to apply anyway be prepared to:- be charged an UNLAWFUL and non-refundable $250 application fee, plus $50 per additional adult- wait more than two full weeks for them to perform a background and credit check- furnish them with TAX RETURNS, purchase records, numerous bank statements, pay stubs and other asset declarations- have your spouses mother receive calls in furtherance of said background check- be denied thereafter if you are unemployed at the moment you apply, even if your background is flawless, your FICO score exceeds 800, you had offered to pay the entire lease terms rent up front, and everything they used to make a decision was known to them before the checking and the fees! They are a combination of financially predatory, incompetent, and criminal (as in liable for violating MINNESOTA STATUTE 504B.173).

I love living at the Lakes! I’ve lived here for 2.5 years. I have a prior review that was 4/5. The Lakes is now under new management and I’m upping my review to a 5/5. Once taking over the new mgmt. immediately got on top of outstanding common area maintenance issues and are now far more fair on rent renewals. Concierge staffing is also more consistent and of higher quality. The concierge is one of the perks of living at the Lakes. The team is now managed by the fabulous Catherine who is really the heart of the Lakes. We all love her! What really makes the Lakes special is the feeling of neighborhood. The special events and weekly wine club and breakfast helps create a strong community. Not an inexpensive place to live but everything is taken care of down to replacing light bulbs and water filters. Comparing the cost of buying and ongoing ownership for a high end property—I find the Lakes turnkey life to be a fabulous alternative!

This is been the most enjoyable and pleasant experiences Ive ever had in an apartment. It is a bit expensive but worth every penny. Rather than just a place to stay it has become a community of friends and family. I highly recommend it.

The leasing staff (Shelby and Lana), along with concierge (Catherine and team), are what make The Lakes so unique. They work incredibly hard to maintain this beautiful building and to plan events for the residents to enjoy. And the residents themselves? What a phenomenal group of people – it truly feels like a community. The finishes, the views, and the amenities are unlike any other in Minneapolis. If you’re looking for unassuming luxury, exceptional neighbors, and a top-notch staff, this is the place for you. I’m incredibly grateful to call this place home.

Deciding to live at The Lakes Residences three months ago is truly a decision I enjoy the lovely benefits of every day. Unlike most of my neighbors, I did not tour the property prior to signing my lease because of a tight business timeline for relocating cross-country. I thoroughly reviewed the website and had several email and phone conversations with James Worms, the amiable and professional Leasing Manager. Not only has every encounter with the leasing (Lana), property (Shelby), and maintenance (Jeff) staff been superb but also my interactions with the concierge staff (Jordan, Catherine, & James). Every detail of each apartment as well as the layout and amenities of the entire building make this community by far the best rental property in the Twin Cities area. Look no further, luxury awaits you at The Lakes Residences.

I thought we were in the minority--moving from the burbs to an apt in Uptown--and wasnt sure what to expect. What we found is there are a ton looking to downsize, simplify and enjoy the city in this great neighborhood with nary a care--grass, snow shoveling, etc. How did we land at The Lakes and how is it going.Physically perfect! A beautiful lobby, fantastic workout room, amazing rooftop patio to sit/read, grill with friends and a to-die-for Calhoun view! The Club Room is great if you want to host a large dinner party or just relax with a book, and it adjoins a beautiful pool deck with gorgeous grilling space, and oodles of places to sit, lay, chat, eat or just lounge on big, puffy chaises! You wont be sorry--trust me.Do you have a Concierge at your home? In your last building? I suspect not. We didnt either, duh!, and it didnt mean much to us until we needed someone to hang our TV, do a great weekly clean, or magically have our cable, internet and other services automatically appear! We have a paper outside our door every morning, are notified when a package arrives, and helps book restaurants and such--even to places that are full up. Not sure how they do that, but it has been wonderful and SO unexpected! If I need something, all I do is ask, and voila!, it is done! Oh, and theyre incredibly nice to boot in addition to being very resourceful in so many ways.Youre thinking, yeah, you sound awesome and like people wed like to hang with... True, you would! But youre following that thought with another: ...but what about your neighbors? A high-end complex like The Lakes is bound to be stuffed full of, well, you know. People NOT like us who youd just as soon not run into. Hah! We were worried about the same thing. So so so not true. Im sure theyre here somewhere, but we havent crossed paths with a one yet. Our Concierge team plans monthly gatherings--wine tastings, etc.--and weve found a group of like-minded people who genuinely are great to connect with! They range from their 20s (must be doing quite well!) to 70s and everything in between. Weve been to a couple post-event parties hosted by residents we didnt know, had a blast, and found new friends along the way! Whether it is one of our professional athletes, coaches, business magnates and/or artists/performers, I can tell you theyre open, fun and not snooty in the least. Really!Do you like pets? Well, this is a complex very welcoming of them. We have dogs of all shapes and sizes ranging from 4# Harvey to 100# Bentley the Harlequin Dane. Youll see them around, and if youre game, pet them. Their owners will love it, as will the pooches, and youll have met a new friend(s) along the way.The apartments? The layouts are fantastic, the finishes beautiful, and they are more than soundproof. Play your music, TV or movies as loud as youd like, and the odds of a neighbor hearing it is next to nothing. The designs and floor plans are well thought out, leave lots of places to hide out if you want some privacy, but with nice gathering spaces if you feel the opposite! Modern? Yeah, but in a way that will age beautifully! What else? The neighborhood! If you live in Uptown today, skip this. If you live in Edina, Minnetonka, Prior Lake or pretty much any suburb, this neighborhood ROCKS! Restaurants galore. 10 minute walk to Lunds or Whole Foods. Three Lakes within spitting distance whether you walk, run or ride. The Greenway is right out the back door giving you miles and miles of biking, running, walking paths leading all over this great city!Enough said. If my commentary hasnt whetted your appetite, DO NOT waste your time visiting and scoping out the building. It isnt for you, really. Otherwise, come visit. Soon. You will be magically transformed into a lifestyle we all aspire to but never think is possible. It is.
