We visited two days ago (Tuesday evening). This was our second time here. The first time here we had a nice experience all the way around but, this time??? It was so. not. worth. it. Okay, I had to wait a long time before I was serviced although I was sitting in the pedicure chair with water( no bubbles) for a while. That would not have been a problem( not unusual) mind you ALTHOUGH no one came to check on me personally except when I went to go use the restroom the person who was working on my husband right beside me assumed I was leaving she then stated she would take care of my feet(although that wasnt true). My service afterwards is where the visit turned really sour for me. After waiting so long I ended up with two people working on me very fast. The problem: I got a VERY rushed job. That is not fair to me a paying customer. This is not cheap. I did not see the full extent of this bad job until I came home in better light. My nails and my feet both look about a week old because of the rushed job. Neither technician polished my nails entirely. The polish is not all the way down my nail bed. It looks as if I need a touch up which happens when your nails have started to grow and they havent. Just a rushed job. My toe nails, some, have a chipped nail polish appearance. My fingernails have the dip powder on them and the drill was used too much so in some spots the polish is also thinner/chipped in some places. No one pays money for bad service. I dont have the time or energy to sit and get this redone correctly. This is very disappointing.

Very nice inside and feels luxurious. The price of services were reasonable and thats where they get you. Gel polish was $19 and to get a fill in with gel polish was $41. Ive been shopping around to find a great reasonable place for me and this was expensive compared to others Ive been. Have wine and sodas.. had to ask they didnt offer it. My water was cold and they added hot but turned cold quickly. Didnt offer the jet bubbles when I got pedicure.My nails look very amazing and feet feel good. Might go again and they are open on Sundays which is a plus for me.

This is a 2nd favorite place next 2 K Nails. I didnt feel like driving so far and a good friend recommended this place. Jordan provided me service. I was initially going for a fill in but he was observant and noticed the job I had done from another nail shop was sub-par....You can really tell Jordan values and takes pride in his work. He looked at angles while doing my nails; I didnt have to ask him to check for me. He was very precise in his painting, shaping, and filing. I will happily return and recommend him!

I usually like this place. I don’t go often due to living about 30 min away. I was told it would be a 10 min wait but they sat me in luke warm water for my pedicure for 45 minutes! They didn’t even offer water. It was so hot in there that day too. Now after 2 days, my nails are chipping. I will not return. Unacceptable.

I’m from out of town & was very impressed with the service and the salon. Everyone was very respectful. They asked us to come back and got us in exactly when we got back. The guy who did my nails was very thorough and made sure I loved everything.

Excellent experience! I showed them a photo of what I wanted for my nails and they did the best they could to match the colors. I just wish they had more opaque chunky sparkle options. The scrubbing/massaging part of my pedi was a little disappointing but it still looks good. I would definitely go back

I usually don’t write reviews, but I had a very poor experience. I had an appointment at 2, waited about 5 minutes to be greeted at the front and then I sat for 15 minutes at a pedicure chair with hands soaking in water for another 10 with no affirmation of when I would be helped. I ended up walking out and going to another salon.

A week and a half later and my nails still look awesome!!! Thank you so much! Yall are amazing!

I usually am fond of this place. Waited 1 1/2 hours. No one was attentive or helpful. Jennifer the MANAGER was very Rude and Yelled. She lost it. Reported this to Peter from Collierville who was very caring and said he would help. Dont waste your time.

THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH!They only get a 3 because my nail tech was nice and professional. The nail tech that assisted me tried to give me the right experience; however, Jennifer, her boss I guess, came and put mu receipt on the table like get her out of here when my tech brought it to her attention that I was uncomfortable for other customers not wearing their masks during this Covid mandate. I know I was treated different because I was part of a party of seven in which none of them said their receipt was brought to their table. And to all of our surprise, they had let a group of 6+ people come in and be serviced without masks.- A whole party of people who had come together. Smh! By the time I left there were close to 30 people in this place. Its big but not that big so no social distancing either!

Location did not feel clean. Asked for gel polish on fingers and pedicure regular. The guy that did my toes obviously did not know what he was doing kept telling him I wanted them cut they were not cut and they were very jagged I had to get out the nail file and file myself. Polish is very clumpy. Then the woman that did my fingers said a french would be better and charged me $7 extra for a French and the French looked horrible. I had to have them redone, they use a file drill and has ruined my nails. Will never go back. My best friend went with me and they told her that she needed to have four nails fixed they fixed them and charged her an extra $20 without letting either one of us know it was going to be extra they just did it. Felt like bait and switch.

Tina and lin did my wife and I pedicures. They were so so nice and pleasant. They listened and was able to provide the best service Ive ever received at a nail shop. I will definitely be returning and this is my new home. I didnt make an appointment but but I also didnt have to wait long either. Thank you guys for for everything .

So I have been coming here for over a year and never had a problem until I got my real nails dipped and they chipped the first week and I was peaking it off like regular nail polish and you’re not suppose to be able to do that with dip ESPECIALLY after 1 week. I took the managers pictures of how I just took it off and she wouldn’t accommodate me on anything! She said it was nothing she could do. This is very unprofessional and I will not be back. As a business you are suppose to accommodate your value customers especially and especially when they bring you proof and aren’t acting out but talking in a calm manner. Dip is not cheap and paying good money with this kind of service is very unprofessional. Goodbye VSL!

Nails look decent but this place misadvertised the price, was pushy, and not nice. The price online for a full set said $30. When I sat down, the lady got gel polish without asking. I saw it and told her I wanted regular and she wouldn’t let it go trying to get me to get gel. Then she said gel was $49 and normal was $39. Then when I went to pay I said the website said it was $30, showed it to her, then she said “oh it’s $35 now. We haven’t updated it.” Just unprofessional

Omg they were more than patient, understanding. I rolled my late butt in there 15mins before closing time. Ms Lyn was nice, fast and very good. I cant thank VSL Nail Spa enough. Thank you for doing my nails great, and accepting me even though I was late as balls🤣🤣🤣. You guys rock. This location was clean,and very nice looking. The staff was amazing 🥰🥰. I will be going back, but alot earlier.

I tried my best to give this place a chance but each visit was always worse than before! The staff is very inattentive, the wait times are ridiculous considering everyone walking around ignoring you. I waited 1 hr to be serviced only to be told I could only receive a pedicure or a manicure (not both like I asked in the beginning) bcuz her people were tired. Came back a few more times and still very unwelcoming. The last time I went I sat and waited to be serviced while several customers came in after me and were seated before me. I was hoping things got better but only worse. Will not be returning!

My favorite! They take their time to do your nails right - no matter how busy they are or if its close to closing time. They are open later than most places which is nice. I have paid way more at other places and been really disappointed. Your nails will actually last from here!

This will be my last time patronizing this shop. I went in for a gel manicure as well as pedicure. Never got the pedicure just left sitting with my feet in cold water while everyone ran to all the white women coming in. I guess they thought I wasnt going to leave a tip. However I tip very well on all my past visits. I was there on my lunch break which ran over an hour nice atmosphere however overpriced for the services especially when you will be ignored. Black people do tip too many nail shops in town to just accept bad service while sharing my experience with a friend she said she felt the same way about her last visit so neither of us will be returning

I was treated like the GODDESS I am!!! My pedicure was absolutely EVERYTHING 😍. My pedicure choice was the Deluxe Pedicure my profound pedicurist was Jason!!!! As I sat in the most delectable massage chair that not only massage, it also provides 🔥heat for this winter chill, which is a huge deal to me. The atmosphere is clean (the bowls are automatically wrapped with plastic), professional, and relaxing. The receptionist was also professional upon entry. They also have🥂🍾 liquid refreshments 😍!!! HANDS DOWN! The best manicure and pedicure experience I’ve ever had in my life! My legs and feet have never been touched the way the fabulous people at VSL on Mendenhall touched them. The massage nearly put me to sleep! It was so quiet and relaxing inside the shop. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. It’s amazing what they can do for your nails. All you have to do is show them a picture of what you want and they can do it. I’ve been in Memphis for almost three years now and I’ve been to a handful of salons. None of them top this one. Some salons are really nice, and they have some very talented people but I don’t feel welcome when I come in, I’ve had some very standoffish people, and I feel like “regulars” get treated differently than new guests. VSL is just the best. Especially the one on Mendenhall. Jordan and Xiamone are my favorites and I can’t remember the girls name who did my pedicure but I’m sure they are all fabulous!

My pedicure was mediocre but my nail tech was nice and attentive. The space is pretty and relaxing.

I had a great first experience, however, each time I have gotten my nails done they pop or break within 4-5 days. Due to this, my nail beds have to be reloved on by myself before letting anyone with a drill work on them again. & yes, the female manager is aware of each situation. Be safe.

Over priced and I didnt get the design that I requested. When I showed the tech the design he said he could do it but its not what I got. The pink is what I got and the other picture is what I requested.

This has become my regular nail salon - Im that happy with their services. Every nail tech Ive had has done a great job, especially Jimmy who I now always use. I get dip powder fingernails and they do a really great job. I highly recommend VSL Nail Spa on Mendenhall.

The pedicures are the best Ive ever had! They dont rush it, and by the end of it, youll feel like youre ready to go to sleep. Im always satisfied! They also offer and recreate many different nail designs. The staff is welcoming and attentive. This place is perfect.

Soooo, I went in for an acrylic nail set and matching toes. I opted out on toes because I was running late on time. I got a simple ombré, white and purple, and the man I had just couldn’t get it done to make the ombré look smooth and clean. It looked uneven throughout the set. And his acrylic left lots of air bubbles. The next day one of my nails had begun lifting. 🥲 Sadly my nails has broken recently and my actual nail under the acrylic has cracked also, lots of blood, along with damage to my nail bed and matrix. I am a fully licensed cosmetologist who knows health and safety, I truly should have left when I saw him pick up an already used nail file to file my natural nails, then a drill, and then not sanitize and wipe down his station. So to sum it all up, dirty tools that need to be thrown away, overpriced full set of $72, nail lifting the next day and now a broken bleeding real damaged nail, and lastly the quality and work of his skills just not being up to par for a simple ombré. 0/5 would not recommend or go back

I love coming here. Im always satisfied with the services. Xiamone is amazing and Jennifer is super sweet. Wouldnt trade this place for any other place to get my nails and toes done.

Henry did my nails, they are beautiful. Spa is beautiful, so you will pay more because of area and that its newly built. I received a soak off from the dip that I previously had, with a gel overlay.

It was our first time here and we were very impressed with the ambiance, spaciousness and cleanliness of the spa. The techs are very friendly and attentive. Safety precautions are also taken here: all staff members wear a mask, hand sanitizer at the front desk, shields at manicure stations, the space makes social distancing very easy and the polish selection is done in an easy to clean book instead of customers touching the polish bottles. We will definitely visit again :)

Im not sure why we had such a different experience than so many other reviewers, but my friend and I were treated very rudely by the staff, and my acrylics started popping off after 4 days. The people who did our pedicures were great so Im giving them 2 stars, but the manicure experience was awful.First, we called ahead of time to make an appointment. So they knew we were coming and what we were getting: pedicure and acrylics w/nail art. My friend was treating me to a special day for my birthday. I could understand if we were a walk-in client on a busy day who wanted something super complicated, but thats why we called in advance.The guy doing my friends nails was EXTREMELY rude. I was sitting next to her waiting on my nail tech, and when she was telling him what she wanted he interrupted and said I need a picture. She had literally just shown him a picture, so she showed him her phone again and said This is what I want, but in pastel colors. He ROLLED HIS EYES and didnt say anything. And then he just...didnt do it at all? Like, completely ignored her request and never brought it up again. She wanted ONE finger on each hand done in a geometric/abstract pattern (see photo for reference). Nothing complicated at all. He also asked her to tell him the nail colors she wanted literally 4-5 times (she kept having to go back to the nail library thing to find the codes each time) and then when he went to get them he came back with completely different colors. ?!? It almost seemed like a joke.Then when my friend went to pay, she asked that my pedicure be put on her ticket. The guy said something to the manager lady and SHE sighed and rolled her eyes too! We were not being rude or demanding at all, she just wanted to pay for part of my service. I dont know why this was such an inconvenience.The guy who did my nails was nice and did a decent job with the nail art. It ended up coming to $77 for the full set (no mani). I thought Ok, thats expensive but Im paying extra for the nail art, I get it. Then yesterday, 4 days after our visit, two of my nails popped off. Several more were already coming loose from the nail bed and those came off today. I didnt do anything physical that would have caused them to come loose. I was disappointed because they were pretty and I paid a lot for them.Its weird bc I see other nail art in the reviews that is beautiful and definitely more complicated than what we asked for. Ive never had such a bizarre and rude experience at a nail salon in my life. Definitely will not be going back.Edit: Forgot to mention there were nail clippings all over the guys work station. Actual nails, not the fake ones.

The classic pedicure includes the scrub, lotion and hot towels. The staff was very friendly, but not a huge fan of this place. I had an appointment and still had to wait 45 minutes. The lady started to use a razor without asking first. The leg massage was on point though.

Each time I experienced service from VSL Nail Spa on Poplar and Mendenhall, I am immediately greeted with a smile and humor. The shop is very clean, and it appears that the nature of the staff is truly to please the customer. Regrettably, Im on the opposite side of town so I cant frequent with regularly. I must say, they have never turned me down even at closing hours, the professional services is the same as if I were there when they opened. Thank you!

Beautiful, clean and friendly spa. The owners are hard workers and appreciate their customers. I just had an amazing pedicure from Ken. Ask for the deluxe (best $45 Ive spent all month). And the chandaliers are spectacular.

I took my girlfriend here to treat her to a little her time. She was only in there about 45 minutes and she said she didnt have to wait but a few minutes when she went in as a walk in.. she enjoyed herself and thats what I wanted her to do.

Made an appointment and waited 30 minutes in the chair before anyone acknowledged us. No point in appointments if they can’t keep them or even talk to you about how long it would take. Would not recommend coming here.

Answering general questions about your services is not one of her expertise either. I LOVE VSL. Both Kirby poplar and Mendenhall poplar locations are gorgeous, kind staff, and very clean. The owner is very very nice. Their work is amazing and if you are unhappy with anything they will fix it with a smile. They truly want to make the customer happy and it shows! I will never go to any other nail salon. Love VSL!

JuSt had a terrible experience at this location immediately after (While toes were drying) my pedicure, my feet began to peel and still be rough which has NEVER happened before .. receptionist asked the guy to fix it but he just tried putting oil on my feet and it still is giving the same results and they still charged me full price. Terrible customer service .. also other salons have better protocol regarding covid precautions ... $47 pedicure not worth the money at all.

So beautiful! This is seriously a spa. Nice, clean and most importantly me QUITE! Great service. They try hard to get you in and out in a timely manner. Tons of colors and dips to choose from. I love that the pedicure bowls are lined with new liners for each new use. Also LOVE that they wear gloves while doing pedicure. They open clean equipment in front of you! I highly recommend this nail salon!!

This was my very 1st time visiting. It was a referral from a someone who goes there all the time. I absolutely love the atmosphere as soon as you walk in so clean friendly staff at Michael my service tech was absolutely amazing patient and took his time and gave me the best many and pedicure Ive had awesome place.

Absolutely love this nail shop! It’s clean which is something I look for in a nail shop, they do a great job and they make great complimentary drinks with your service! I also had the best pedicure I had in my life, it also came with a much needed foot massage! I will be returning!!

Just left and never going back. The man who did my nails hurt me several times by trying to punch my skin back with his bare hands and another tech witnessed it. He cut the side of my nail off mistaking it for a hangnail. Now almost half my toenail is missing. He also served me water out of a DIRTY cup. It had food all over it, I thought it was a joke and took pictures. He nipped me and caused me to bleed then threw acetone in it!!! I thought someone was playing a joke. The paint job was also like a two year old had done it.After explaining everything and having another tech do it over, not only did the manager not apologize,...but they still wanted to charge me full price for it. I’ve been coming here consistently every two to three weeks for three years and this is how I’m treated. The only thing that will bring me back is a FREE service.

This place is #beautiful. I had the deluxe pedicure from Nani and she is absolutely outstanding. She made sure I was comfortable the entire time. She never seemed rushed. I would recommend this to anyone, but especially to anyone who stands or walks a lot. Ill definitely be back.

Ive been a customer of VSL for a few months. Originally I was pleased with their work although they do take a bit longer than other salons. However, yesterday I went in for a dip manicure and classic pedicure. I had an appointment, but still had to wait about 15 minutes. The pedicure was fine, but the manicure was one of the worst Ive had. I was never offered anything to drink, there was never a hot towel put on my hands, no massage, no cuticle oil, I was cut by the drill, he never asked what shape I wanted, and I wasnt even asked to go wash my hands. When I went to pay I noticed my nails had a sticky substance on them so I asked for them to be fixed. They ended up putting a gel top coat over my dip.... which seemed to fix the issue, but is not what I asked for. My nails dont even look like they had a manicure and I ended up having to file them myself when I left. I wont be returning and I definitely would not recommend this salon - you can get better service elsewhere for a cheaper price.

My mom and I went here today after being ignored in a busy Gloss around the corner. It seemed very nice and elegant at first; however the service was slow the manicure station was not clean. My pedicure was great but the tech took a long time to prepare. I then messed up my big toe walking to the manicure station, which was “fixed” but just meant painted over. The person who did my dip seemed overwhelmed by customers walking in, distracted, not prepared. He kept getting up to get things, rushing around, watching other customers, not focused on me. He kept saying they were very busy. My moms station had someone else’s chipped off dip nails, lots of different colors of dust, and my towel used during my service had old nail polish remover cotton on it and dust obvious from a previous customer. I feel like there is great potential here but they need some work!

Best service and quality in the city of MEMPHIS HANDS DOWN. Drinks were honestly better then any restaurant in the area. First time coming here and best experience ever. My nail tech John is the best, he is the only person blessing these nails from now on. He is such a perfectionist. My pedi was above excellent, Mia is definitely a sweet heart. My new nail shop. BEWARE! These people are SHYSTERS. I went in for a full set ( $30). The female staff person politely helps me pick out nail polish. When I walk over to my seat, she turns around and apparently switches out the nail polish for the shellac. When I asked Henry several times during my service about the nail polish, he says, Yes, nail polish. They upcharged me $20 for the shellac nail polish and long nails. Henry tries to explain the young lady did not understand because of the language barrier. Nice try. I did not appreciate this bait and switch and fraudulent practice. BUYER BEWARE!! RUN!! I am going back to Crosstown Gloss Nail Bar. Never again.
