We visited the leisure pool here because our usual pool was closed. I couldnt find the price on the website, so Ill mention it here: $10 for me and $7 for each of the kids. Thats really too pricey for me to come often. However, we did have a very good time. The pool has a zero-entry end, a waterslide, and a whirlpool area that spins the kids around. They had a blast with that last one.Check the website to see when the leisure pool is open if you want to swim there; its apparently closed a lot and was only open from 2:30 to 4 the day we went.
The fitness trainer Alyssa and life gaurd hunter was very helpful they answered all.thw questions I had. Kudos.
They change thier operation times without notice.
Clean and COVID compliant. Friendly people. Responsive to members. Beautiful facility. A value for your dollar.

I am SO grateful to have a found a place that pleases me. I couldnt find the place to swim sometimes, their fitness center is normal. However, their pool was outstanding. The locker rooms are clean and big capacity. I and my girlfriend love to go and have fun.
My family and I love this facility. The new LED lighting in the pool area is wonderful. Its so much brighter and I feel more energetic as I am swimming. I also love the increased water temperature in the leisure pool. I appreciate that a great deal. I also love the instructors at this facility. They are knowlegable and professional as they work to prepare swimmers with the life saving skills they need in and around the water. My family and I will continue to come to Freedom Center for lessons and classes. I am a huge fan of the variety of programs Freedom Center offers its members and the public.
Best place to bring fitness in the family. They have something innovative & interactive for everyone!
I’ve been coming to Freedom center almost twenty years. Excellent place to workout, I like to welcome our new instructor. Her name is ZeynebShe is extremely knowledgeable and professional.I’ve been taking her yoga and Zumba classes. She is amazing. Welcome to the board Zeyneb👏
The pools are excellent. The locker rooms are clean enough. I love the adult swim teams. The lifeguards are usually not watching pool and sometimes asleep.
I went to run on the trail outside but forgot to bring a water bottle. I went inside to ask if I could use the water fountain, but the front desk attendant, Frank, refused.I understand that it is the front desks job to maintain the facility gate, but it was late on Sunday evening and there were very few patrons at the facility at the time. At the very least, as a facility dedicated to health and fitness, you would think that the workers there would try to be as accommodating as possible for a simple request as water for someone trying to exercise.
This is inflated as the rating should be a 2 or 2.5. Staff is typically friendly so a three is a nod to them. The workout experience continues to decline each visit (3-5 times/week). Water in water fountains is lukewarm at best. Not refreshing during hard workouts or the summer months. Instructors during offered classes are overly disruptive. You can hear them shouting instructions at extremely high decibels throughout the gym. Bullhorn loud. Disruptive for anyone trying to conduct their workout not in the class. Why so loud? Is there data that shows theres an impact on fitness levels? Drill sergeant days have passed. Locker rooms are barely air conditioned if at all. Almost sauna like. Again a challenge after a workout, shower, etc. and you have to return to the office. Management would do well to take a look at some of these issues.
The pools are really nice. The only problem is that the diving boards are NEVER open whenever I go. On the website it says that the diving board hours are on weekends from 1-4, but when I go at those times they arent open even when I check for other things going on at the same time and nothing is.
I’ve been coming here for 8 years, and while the facilities are nice, they do not appreciate their members... during swim meets. This morning I spent 10 minutes trying to park (during a swim meet), until I finally followed the signs to the satellite lot for “swim team parking,” which turned out to be mostly empty (and a 3-5 min walk to the entrance - see picture). This is not the first time this has happened. They do not bother to staff the lots with attendants pointing swim team families to the correct parking locations, nor even post signs saying not to park in the main lot. After missing the class I was going to attend, I decided to go talk to a manager and ask why they couldn’t save parking for members. Craig, the manager on duty, told me that they only put staff out in the lots before the facility opens to direct traffic, but not after that when classes are running and members would arrive. That seems lazy and stupid - clearly the parking lot is not filled with all members’ vehicles. Furthermore, he told me it was not his problem - it was a facilities problem, and he would (ho hum) mention it to the facilities manager. I have never encountered a manager so disenchanted with his job, basically passing the buck and not even trying to be apologetic (much less helpful). Furthermore, if you ever do park and get in during a meet, don’t bother with the locker rooms. They will be jammed full of kids, even in the “adults only section.” They cancel classes and there’s even no use of much of the facility (the multi purpose room is also overrun). I understand they need to support swim meets, but I’m frankly tired of this place selling out their regular paying customers for them. We basically get an email notification warning us that it will be a problem to come there. (Thanks for taking my money anyway.) They need to staff and manage these meets better, including hiring a manager that actually cares about customer service and his job.
I love the facilities here. They offer more than what you could expect in a fitness gym/center. I would definitely recommend them to many.
The Summer Camp that employs High School and college kids should be a summer job experience that is fun and gives the teens a good work environment. However, I witnessed Amanda Marie Meiklejohn treating the teenagers like they were in boot camp. I understand the safety of the small children is important and standards are high for this reason. However, creating a work environment of fear and anxiety for the teenagers cannot be good for the small children they are over seeing in the summer camp. Amanda is on a power trip and treats the teens as if they are beneath her, makes them fear losing their jobs and puts unnecessary pressure on the teens which results in the teens not even wanting to be there. I would suggest GMU evaluating their choice in the person they have in charge of running this program. She should not be anyones manager or in charge of any employee. Training is definitely needed here. Lots of training. Threats, bullying and managing by fear will not get the results desired.
Cancelled family membership within month, experienced racial profiling here. Visited the weight room with my two teenage boys, gentleman in the front confronted us by asking us they cant come in. I stated they already took the certificatation class and they where of age. Funny part is he admitted he got a call on his radio about us. How would he of known it was us out of all people visiting the facility? Spoke to staff and also confirmed the are not able to speak spanish. Seems like all the reviews on here seem to be from minorities. From the one asking for water for his car to the one who wanted water to drink. Will not recommend and have shared this experience to my fellow family members and friends.
Good place for all age groups. They offer classes for all ages. I love the gym and, swimming.
It is a very good place to go to all the time but it costs a little bit of money
If you are an adult and want to swim, find another venue, this place is only geared for kids.At any given day, there are 5 or 6 lifeguards on duty working from 20-25 minutes per hour. They open only 1/2 of the pool. The lifeguard stations are perched above only the shallowest parts of the pool (where the kids are)Cant see the rest of the pool is always the response, yet at any time there are 3-4 lifeguards in the shack goofing off. Most adult swimmers complain about pool availability to the extent, they stop trying to use it at all.The workout, track, aerobic and other programs are very nice. The weight room requires wipedowns by patrons. Machines are never sweaty and nasty like some older gyms like golds or LA fitness.
My wife and I frequent the gym several times a week to work out and go to exercise classes. Today, a new employee at the front desk, John, verbally abused my wife to the point we had to get his supervisor called and brought to the front desk. He obviously has anger management issues and needs customer service skills.
Ive been a member since I was a kid, and I absolutely love going. Its a great place to swim, great place to exercise, and the facility is always clean.
Even on memorial day it was busy, even though this was a good pool, the kiddie pool was basically mostly pee.
Me and my siblings did summer camps there. they have a perfect balance of everything a child/young adult could want. along with having groups for a specific catergory. i truely love the freedom center!
I enrolled my son in a swimming classes and they with out notice cancelled. I didnt received any phone call, email or text message about this. I was with my son at time for the classes and no one give me a reason for the cancellation. I called today and the guy on the phone give me the phone number of the person in charge (josh). I called him. I left a message, but Im still waiting. at least a email!!. I want my money back!
Nice basketball courts and indoor track, the bathrooms could use some work however.
This place is so big, they offer a variety of activities and stuffs to do, always very clean, the employees are very friendly and are always there if you need them, excellent place..
The programs offered at this center is amazing. They have dance class, HIIT and even Spinning sessions at certain times of the week.
This is not a rant- more of a warning! In May I signed My kid up for preschool at the freedom center. I was told he needed to be potty trained to be in the class. I would pay $75 for holding his spot and that money would NOT be refunded if we wasnt ready by September. At orientation the teacher said the kids needed to be independently potty trained.(Go in/out of bathroom- pull up/down pants, wipe their own butt/ flush toilet etc. all on their own)Z was not to that level yet- so I decided to withdraw him from the class(at orientation)They charge you a month before for the class. August I was charge $250(tuition/school supplies)Sept $170(tuition)=$420 - not including the $75The principle/director told me that ALL my money wouldnt be refunded 👿👿👿I went crazy- you can imagine-I ONLY signed-agreed to $75 not to be refundedMake a LONG story short- I ended up calling my bank and filling a claim.I WILL get my $420 back and warn everyone I talk to- to NOT take their kids to the freedom center!! Absolute FRAUDS!!!
Just moved to Manassas and this is by far the best gym facility Ive seen in a while. I may be biased because of the large indoor pool. Definitely the biggest Ive seen from all the other gyms in the area. They have a jacuzzi, slide, dry sauna in the womens locker room possibly the mens locker room as well. An array of group fitness classes, kid-care, preschool, summer camps, etc. The strength training room may be small for some but it is still a nice size. Indoor walk/running track, plethora of racquet ball rooms, basketball courts. Memberships are well priced and open to the community even though it is a University facility.Customer service seems to be run by some GMU students but I havent had any issues as yet other than confusion on the type of swim lessons that are offered and when they are being offered.
A great place to go and workout or play games. I play volleyball here often but the price is a little crazy.
My daughter takes basketball and swim classes here. Always a great time with good people. Staff is friendly.
Nice modern facility, but air in pool was very poor.
Im going there rn love playing basketball there
Camps are fun and my kids enjoy them.
So they close for 1 week and they still charging the same full montly payment!!
I just wanted some water to use for my car, nothing!
Its lit at the freedom center
The facility is nice, clean.
Awesome for USA swim meets
Not a member, but I love going here to swim and the ladies locker room is always clean.
Great clean place, but however they are not very good at answering the phone
The best
I like swimming lessons there 🌊
