Helpfull peaceful equipment was great trip was 4 hours 4 miles got stop like 3 times to swim take pictures we will be back without doubt
This was a great experience and the staff were absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend! Will definitely be back!
The staff was very nice, but the price was a bit high. We paid extra for canoes with the seats, and the straps holding up the backs of the seats were broken on most of them, so that was a waste of money.
I enjoyed my paddle, its a great stretch of the river, and the staff followed social distancing and mask protocols which made me feel safe.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. The website gives the impression that no fees are required if you provide all your own equipment. This is misleading. The MS Secretary of State had dissolved this business in 2014, for not paying taxes. Yet it continues to operate, accepting payment without recording sales. My husband & I visited this place a few days ago. Its located at the end of Tucker Rd., in a clearing surrounded by 3 houses (which are all fenced in & separate). The only way to tell that youre in the right place is that there are canoes & some old school buses that say Wolf River Canoe on the side. There are no signs indicating the business, payment required, or private property - thus giving the appearance of being a public launching point into Wolf River. Upon arriving, we inspected the area, looking for an attendant or even a honk for service/call this number sign. We parked in the clearing & launched our kayaks anyway. We were gone for maybe 2 hours. When we came back & loaded our gear up, an older man came out & approached my husband. He said that this was private property & my husband apologized, saying he didnt see any signs, so he wasnt aware of that. According to the man, It should be obvious. He then said that it costs to use his launch & asked, Well are you going to pay me now? My husband was a little upset at this rude behavior so walked to our truck to get his wallet, without responding to the man. The man must have thought this meant no & approached the back of our truck saying, If you dont want to pay thats fine. Ill get a picture of your license plate instead. Assuming he would report us for trespassing, even though we apologized for our mistake, we paid him. The man charged us $20 ($10 per kayak) in cash, no receipt. I believe this man is misrepresenting a business, entrapping visitors & then threatening & extorting them to pay him or else.
We had a great time floating and stopping at the sandbars along the way. The rocks on the bottom are horrid so definitely wear water shoes or plan to not get out of your canoe. Everything was fantastic till we got to the end, the worker waiting was rude. When we asked if we could just hang in the water till our time was up he was short and acted aggravated so we decided to just get out. He disappeared and did not help pull any of the canoes out and up the hill. We saw him walk out from under the bridge as we pulled away....guess he wasn’t concerned with us or the tip we had for him!
Had a great paddle back in April. Nice day and fun time
Guide was extremely friendly and patient with us. River was cool and water levels were good. The 4 mile has a couple simple but exciting rapids to enjoy for the beginner kayaker all while being a reasonable price range. Would be back!
Went on the 10.6 mile trip, had a fantastic time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!
Great trip with friendly staff. Went with the family and everyone enjoyed it. From ages 4 to 42. Lots of shallow places for the smaller kids to swim and a few deep places for the adults. Took the 10 mile trip and was $58 with seat backs at the time of this review. I would recommend a shorter trip if you like to stop alot or even an overnight trip. My kids, 4 and 5, cannot swim so we had to stop for them to get in the water and were pressed for time by the end. A shorter trip would give them more swimming time. Another group with older kids just floated along with the boats so they had plenty of water time for their kids. My only real complaint would be we didnt see much wildlife.
The owners of this place are very rude. The area seems like a place you could bring your kayak or canoe and launch from and there are no signs that say no trespassing. When we arrived, we took our own kayak out and went maybe 3 minutes down the river and came back. We were gone for maybe 30-45 minutes. When we came back the owner said he wouldve towed our cars for parking on private land and was very belligerent with us. We were not doing anything to cause a ruckus or being loud. He said he wanted $20 on the spot or he would have our cars towed. Do not come here or give them any business. They are very very disrespectful and rude. I was very calm, nice and honest to him saying we had no idea, which we didnt. He was still very rude.
Had a great time, everyone was friendly. If you have never been on this waterway just be prepared for the tiny rocks on the river bed, they get into your shoes, they get into everything, they are unstoppable. Enjoy the river.
Poor communication skills! Tried to call business 4 times to check river conditions, straight to voicemail. Finally calls 30 minutes before reservation, which was the time we were instructed to be there and we were sitting in their parking lot, and says river conditions arent suitable. We have been here before and seen this place in better condition. Not sure what happened to this place. Way to waste peoples time and day!
It was pricey for everything we had to do ourselves (15$), the wind was stronger than currant so we were drifting the wrong way and had to paddle with our hand the whole time and of course the people running the tubing business didnt tell us that when we arrived. Then told us we had to take a phone so we could call them to pick us up, had to wait half an hour, had to deflate the tubes and had walk all the way up the sand way to meet the van on the side of the road. What made the tubing so fun were the people we were with, not coming back.
Been multiple times for the 10.6 mile kayaking route. We drive 3 hours from Louisiana and always have fun. Going again hopefully in a few weeks.
The water level was below normal according NOAA but the outfitter gave us zero heads up. We quickly learned though as we had to walk the canoe across sand beds - would have been more if not for some deft maneuvering and experienced paddling. We did the 10.6 miler and were told that it would take 4-7 hours. Without any mention of water level, the implication was that this range would be largely due to your choice of stops. (It was not)The female staff was very nice - we found it amusing that even she thought we were overcharged for shuttle service only ($35 - we had our own canoe, paddles, and life jackets). The man made it very clear that he would leave anyone who was 5 min late.Overall, we’ve had much better experiences with other outfitters (and at a better price!) so we won’t be back.
I live on this river. Wolf river canoe always busy during summer. They have excellent customer service and good deals.
Very fun experience today. Husband and I were behind and they had waited for us. Staff was friendly. Will do again
Our first trip to canoe in Wolfe river (which is 2 hours away) we arrived early only to find out they had forgotten our reservation and was 30 minutes late. We paid full price regardless and had a decent rest of the time. Our second trip, we got caught in traffic from a bad accident and called multiple times to let them know we would be 20-25 minutes late. They refused to work with us when we were just 20 minutes away from arriving. He was very rude and acted like it was all our fault. I would not recommend going at all. Do not give them business. Since we drove all the way out, we decided to go to Ship Island which is very close and WAY more fun and affordable!
There are much better outfitters in the area who are more organized, professional, and less expensive.
Decent place to go for a float. Never had a problem out here at all.
Love this App.👍
We made the 10.6 mile kayak trip on the last Saturday of July 2016. The staff were nice and polite, very conversational on the ride up to the drop off point in her suburban. Im not sure why some other reviews say theyre rude. We found this to be far from the truth.Equipment: We dont wear lifejackets so it didnt bother us that the provided ones seemed to be 30+ years old. Just put them in the kayak and bring them along. The kayaks were aged as well but there were no leaks and 2 of the three we used were without complaint. Mine, on the other hand, had an extremely loose seat back strap that forced my seat into a full recline. It was not adjustable and it wasnt quite long enough to put a knot in it to tighten it up so I ended up stuffing the lifejacket between the seat and the strap to get it tightened up a bit. The foot rests in my kayak were also malfunctioning so I couldnt keep myself upright sitted without sliding down rather often. Luckily, beer came to the rescue and I didnt worry too much about anything.THE FLOAT: The river is pretty slow and wide. If you plan to do the 10.6 mile float, be prepared to used your paddles a lot to get to the end. Itll require a lot of manual work to keep the trip from being an ALL DAY event and if its a really sunny day, you will be looking for the finish ramp at some point since there isnt much in the way of shade on this river. The width prevents too much of it from being covered by overhang.Compared to some other float spots around, this is much more secluded. We only came across one other group during our float. If youre looking for privacy, this may be the trip for you.
Dont answer the phones. Screw them, wont call again.
No one was there when I arrived on a day scheduled to be open
