Our experience with Alaska Fish On Charters was nothing short of spectacular! This was the first trip to Alaska for my 15 year old son and I and I had no idea what to expect or where to begin the planning process. I wanted to make sure that we got to experience as much as possible in our short time there. We reached out to Alaska Fish on and they provided us with a list of activities to choose from and provided us with an experience that was customized for us. The communication both prior to and during our trip was outstanding. Darlene and Misty checked in with us daily to make sure that we knew where we going and what time we had to be there. We stayed at Alaska Cozy Cabin in Sterling. Tai met us there upon our arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. The cabins were tucked back in the woods and extremely quiet. The beds very comfortable. For Day 1 We booked the Halibut Charter with Captain Jesse and boy did he deliver! As soon as we set anchor we were onto the fish with multiple hits immediately! Jesse did not stop working the entire time we were out and made sure that everyone had a great time and caught our limit. Day two was the fly in to Wolverine Creek. I highly recommend this, even if fishing is not your thing. Josh met us at the Alaska West Air office and got us set up for the flight. If you ask my son (who is now aspiring to be a guide) what his favorite part of the trip was he will say “fishing with Josh”. We caught our limit of Sockeye and spent the remainder of the day watching the bears and cubs hunt fish. It was a truly incredible experience. Day three we fished for kings on the Kasilof. Our guide Alex was super laid back and put us on the fish right away. We spent our final day on the Kenai. Mike and his wife met us at the boat launch and got us on the river right away. They epitomize what it means to be a great guide. They kept us entertained and had us laughing our entire trip. As previously stated our overall experience was spectacular. Eventually the fish we caught will be eaten, but the memories that we shared will last a lifetime. I HIGHLY recommend Alaska Fish On!

On June 5th my company collaborated with 2 others and had the experience of a life time. We had 15 fisherman and woman attend this 1 week excursion to Alaska using FISH ON CHARTERS and their numerous guides for Halibut and King Salmon Kenai Rocks with Darlene Kernan and Fish On Charters

Had a fantastic time on the Kasilof River fishing for Sockeye salmon with Alaska Fish On charters. Our guide Nolan put us on a gravel bar gave us great instructions and the non stop catching began. In less than 2 hours our group of four caught over 24 sockeye of which we each kept 6 each. Highly recommend this guide service.

Alaska Fish On provided an excellent experience from start to finish. I booked a 4-night stay for my wife and I fairly last minute, and they accommodated our custom request: 2 days of salmon fishing, 2 days off for us to chill and explore the area. Every person I spoke to was courteous, helpful, and thorough. Overall the communication was excellent. We were provided maps, instructions, and phone numbers of people we were meeting with. We stayed on the Kasilof River in the upper floor of a duplex house. The suite was beautiful and well stocked, and man, what a view! On the day of our second fishing trip, I stupidly skimmed the instructions too fast and missed our early morning meetup with our guide. Despite this being entirely my fault, Darlene didnt miss a beat. She put us on standby lists with several other fishing guides, and in the afternoon one of them took us Sockeye fishing. This actually worked out great, because our first trip was for King salmon, and it was fun to try something different. Between the two days we caught around 50 pounds of salmon. The meat was processed (cleaned, cut, vacuum sealed, and packaged) by the amazing Wendy, and the cost was included in our package. Wendy was flexible and friendly, like everyone else we worked with. We would happily book with Alaska Fish On again in the future!

Alaska is one of the most beautiful states I’ve ever visited. As a first timer to the state we were both welcomed and embraced by Darlene and Gary of Alaska Fish On Charters. My wife and I finally crossed off a bucket list item and Alaska Fish on Charters made it happen! From halibut fishing out of Homer with Jesse to King fishing the Kasilof with our guide Trent, we had an absolute blast. Gary, Darlene, and the office crew had great communication, were friendly, and provided everything needed for a fantastic time.But be warned!! If you come here once, you’re going to come back again and again. We’re already planning our next trip!

Gary and Darlene are fantastic hosts. Everything was well communicated and went as well as we expected. The king salmon fishing on the Kasilov River was pretty cool, but the halibut charter out of Homer was amazing. We had an amazing time there in Alaska, and hope to be back again someday.

Remote places like Alaska truly require local knowledge and guidance to tap into the areas full potential.  For the Californians and Arizonians in our group its definitely out there.   Thankfully Gary, Darlene, and the Alaska Fish On Charters team organized an absolute standout trip for us.  Their energy and communication skills really set the tone for an amazing itinerary.  We were blessed with great guides with charming personalities, the activities were once in a lifetime, and we were able to experience a full spectrum of emotions.   Some quick highlights were watching the fog lift and the sun rise on the turquoise Kenai River from a fishing boat, witnessing my brothers reel in stunning salmon in a remote lake, our relaxing accommodations and their nearby surroundings.  Couldnt recommend this company any more.  They are top notch.

We had 2 days of Halibut fishing and 2 days of salmon fishing. Had a different guide each day and all 4 guides put us on the fish. Loved it!

This was my first time visiting Alaska and my experience was amazing!! Gary was great and his staff was great too!! Our charters were all fun and we are going home with fish!! We went halibut fishing a couple of times and had a great experience each time. I can’t wait to go back and do it again!! Forrest and Jesse were awesome captains and the deckhands were super fun and helpful!!Salmon fishing was also fun! Always wishing we could catch more but the experience was great! I learned so much. We went on the drift boat with Chris and he was a blast! He taught us so much and was a great guide! 👍And a huge thanks to Bill and Gary for the help and guidance with salmon fishing on the river! I caught my King on the Ninilchik and I will never forget it! Just need to come back for a bigger one next year!!

Alaska Fish On Charters makes dreams come true!I recently took my workaholic father on a 5 day trip with Gary and the crew. The cabin we stayed in was new, clean, comfortable and roomy. More importantly these guys know how to catch fish and go the distance to be masters of their craft! We intentionally went in the slower season because we wanted the 3 silver salmon daily limit Bill and Gary helped us fish the river and helped us land the nicest fish I have ever seen. We took home over 200 pounds of fillets!I heard my father tell multiple people that This is the most fun I have EVER had!What was a once in a lifetime trip is going to become a tradition!Thank you Gary Darlene and Bill for the great week.p.s. Just visited the 1st week in June. Darlene and the office staff are great. We went for a 4 day fish trip mixing up Halibut and Salmon. Caught limit on Halibut, but only 1 salmon. We were scheduled to fish 4 days in a row, wish we had taken a day off as the early starts took their toll.Facility we were put in was just enough to lay your head down so Darlene happily helped us move to a VRBO and it was more of what we needed. I would recommend that option, it will allow a better vacation atmosphere.We had Ian F as our 1st day guide for Salmon. He was knowledgeable and perfectly organized. He kept poles in the water every second he could and he was very entertaining when the fishing slowed.We had Will and Jesse as Sea Captains and both were very good! They put us on fish and we limited out. Both gauged our skill set and helped as we needed accordingly.Our last day of Salmon fishing we had Trent. He worked very hard to get fish, but we didn’t get a Salmon. You could see he was very knowledgeable, but it was a slow day and there were way too many boats fighting for spots. My only feedback would be for him to be better prepared like Ian and keep our poles in the water more.Great company, I would recommend getting your own accommodations, but Darlene can help with that too

Ive been fishing with Gary for 15 years or more. Although he does have a sparkling personality, it is his (and Bill Niederhausers) guiding skills that keep me making a yearly trip from Tucson. Ive got an 80 lb replica Chinook on the wall (Believe in catch and release). Weve caught huge rainbows. My son and I each regularly bring home 40 lbs of Coho after a four day trip. Best fishing Ive ever done and will continue to do.

Such a great vacation and great people. Started as a guys fishing get away. Took my wife and she loved it. Then were fortune enough to make a trip with our kids (8 and 6 yrs old). The boys had such a great time, they chose Alaska and fishing with Gary at Alaska Fish-On over Disney Land. I hope that is a sign of good parenting. Already planning our next family trip to enjoy the wonderful scenery, great people and fabulous fishing. My husband and I flew to Alaska from San Diego and had a fishing trip planned with our guide Bill to go silver salmon fishing. We started our day at 5:30 am because Bill wanted to ensure we had the best spot on the river. The last couple weeks were slow for salmon fishing and Bill wanted to give us the best possible chance to catch something. It was extremely cold, 30 degrees but Bill packed two portable heaters. I was extremely grateful because I am not used to that kind of cold! I caught 2 giant salmon and the other couple caught 3. We were really because the other boats only caught 1 or nothing at all. Bill is a really genuinely good guy. We chatted for hours and I can just tell he is a hard working genuinely nice person. It is hard to come by people like him him. My husband and i wished we had another day planned with Bill because we had such a good experience. We plan to come back next summer. I highly suggest booking this charter. You won’t be disappointed!

What a great trip

Had one of the best family trips to Kenai Alaska. Gary set us up with a ton of great fishing trips. We ended up taking home 100 LBs of delicious salmon and halibut. I highly recommend giving them a call and letting them set up the trip for you. The fishing was amazing. The scenery right from the lodge was spectacular. Will be going back again soon!

As usual, this is the second time I have used Alaska Fish On Charters on the peninsula and I am still satisfied and happy to bring my business to Gary and Darlene because they never disappoint. Everything from the courtesies they extend to their patrons at the lodge to the experiences they provide on the water; this is what keeps me coming back. Most recently, captain Bill not only put us on good fishing but gave us insight into the fishery itself. Captain Bill is a valuable asset to Fish On and his experience shows during our time with him on the water. One of the things I like the most is how willing they are to accommodate their customers to customize their charter experience to what they want. I have had other charters just refuse to provide services or they just fail to respond in a timely manner and this is why I heavily reccomend using Fish On charters they work for their customers.

The guides were top notch and we caught our limit every time. They even gave us a lesson before our day off so we could fish on our own. Loved that fish processing was included with our package. Most amazing fishing experience I’ve ever had. Been on many guides hunting and fishing trips and Gary is the most professional fisherman in the world. He will make sure your cooler is full of fish. Gary and Darlene were really amazing to work with us through the Covid-19 situation. They gave meaningful guidance and provided all the information we needed to make it a trip of a lifetime. I want to re-charge my batteries with them every year and plan to re-book yearly. We did halibut, salmon, king, ling cod, rock fish. Took home a ridiculous amount of fish. I always felt like I was with the best guide out there, we did 6 charters and Gary and Darlene have the best people guiding. I feel like they deserve an award for having such positive attitudes through a crazy year. It was the funnest trip I’ve ever experienced! I wish I could figure out how to post pictures but we caught 400lbs of fish!!

Great experience! With covid going on there was some confusion but the staff worked hard to recover. The price is a little high and be prepared to tip since all experiences are through third party companies or with young guys that will work their tails off for you. We requested some last minute changes and they accommodated us without hesitation. Communication was great at all hours. Someone is always there for you.

I have family near Anchorage, whenever we are there we fish with guides. We have been fishing with Gary at Alaska Fish On for 4 years and he always gets us fish and we keep coming back! Lodge is also a great spot for groups with great views of the bay. nIf you are looking for a guide for either Salmon or Halibut look no further! Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our fishing excursions with Alaska Fish On charters. We were able to limit out on our halibut trip and my son even caught a bonus cod. Unfortunately the silvers were hard to find among all the pinks in the Kenai but we did come home with close to 40lbs of salmon. We were booked to stay at Lone Moose Lodge which was absolutely fabulous as well. Wish we had been able to get more salmon but everyone we talked to, including locals, were struggling to get the silvers thru all the pinks! It’s fishing not catching!

Great experience, Capt. Jesse put us on the halibut!!! Deck hand was awesome too. Would highly recommend Fish on Charters for a fishing experience of a life time!!!!

We just finished our trip with Alaska Fishon and we had a fabulous time. This is my 6th trip with Gary and Darlene and they have treated us great every time. Alaska seems to change limits and fishing regulations often and Gary and Darlene roll with the punches and make your trip a wonderful time. Darlene and Gary are top notch folks. We had a few changes to daily fishing requirements and they were more than willing to accommodate. The lodge is exceptionally located overlooking the Cool Inlet and cabins are like new. We would recommend this experienced and novice fishermen, great experience!

We have used Alaska Fish On 4 times in the last 6 years for our Alaska fishing trips. Gary and Darlene run a top notch business! Their hospitality and professionalism has always been phenomenal. They have coordinated fishing trips for us on the Kenai River, at Homer, and the fly-in fishing to Bear Lake. We have never been disappointed in their services and have always come home with enough fish to last us many months!

At the end of the day, the trip was fun and we came home with our limit of sockeye salmon. Unfortunately, communication was very much lacking. We were not told to check in anywhere and therefore did not get our hip waders ahead of time and had to wear the wrong size because thats what was available. We did not know what to expect at all and spent six hours in the same place. Our guides attitude left something to be desired, and he was not respectful about keeping his distance while smoking. As I stated at the beginning, we did have fun and we did catch all we could, but we would have benefitted and adjusted our expectations with more communication.KNOW THIS: If youre going fishing on the Kasilof, you will pay $5 to park at the launch. Credit cards are accepted.

Lets start by saying Darlene did a get job getting my trip set-up with all the things happening with covid-19 and the airlines. This was a graduation gift to my son for all the hard work he put in. We had the best time every halibut fishing with Jeese & Alexis shes a no mess around Gal and Jeese will get you on fish. Our Salmon guides out of this world Conor worked his tail off to make sure my son caught a King Salmon that day. Fish on Charters does it right and goes above and beyond. I could go on and on about all the great things and hard work they did. I look forward on doing it again with Fish on Charters.

Great cabin overlooking the Cook Inlet caught lots of fish and met some of the best people on the planet. Darlene and Gary were great hosts all of the captains they use are top notch guides as well as great people would love to go back and do it again. Can’t wait maybe next summer.

If there was an option to rate this a 3.5 I would have done so. I want to start by saying that I have been on many fishing and hunting excurrsions. I booked this trip for my dad and I as a present to him and it was our first time to Alaska. First thing is if you have questions, make sure you ask them all before a deposit. Questions were answered rapidly before the deposit. After the deposit, emails went unanswered. Being our first time there we had lots of questions. Many of them went unanswered until we arrived. We booked great than 6 months out. Our first day, we went halibut fishing. It was windy and would limit us being able to get out to the bigger fish. Our guide to our boat, we are not going to do anything fancy but I am going to try to get your fish. His name was Forest he as a pleasure to be with and we understood the weather situation. It is what it is and we were 10 out of 10 satisfied with the trip. Our boat limited 10 halibut the largest going maybe 30-35 pounds. Our next day was with Trent. Trent was 18 years old but has been fishing Kaslif spelling might be off since he was 2 years old. This was a drift boat trip. When we got there he said they slammed them the day prior. We went to the first spot where 1 small sockeye was caught after about an hour, I asked him what he thought. He said it was a tough day yesterday and that they were in between the Red and Silver runs. Then said lets pull in and go try and see if we can catch A singular 1 silver. I knew where this was going. Then he proceeded that 8 hour trips usually only go 5.5-6.5 hours and the people joining us on the boat clearly said we want to put our time in. From the time we dropped the boat in until the time it was pulled out was approximately 6 hours. We caught maybe 10 pink salmon and the 1 sockeye. The day before on the Halibut charter the guys said they slammed the fish on the Kenai. The day we were leaving we talked to another group that was told the Kaslif did not have any reds or silvers in it and were asked if they wanted to go fish pinks which they did because they wanted to experience the drift boat. I am assuming we were stuck here because they did not have any other guides open to hosting us on the Kenai. I am not sure what it breaks down to exactly but when you paying a guide $500-$600 per day for 2 people, you want to fish target fish. Overall Trent was not a bad guy. He just lied and repeatedly contradicted himself. Ultimately how we paid should have conversed with us the situation and we would have never be put in that situation. I would rate this a 0 out of 10. Our last day, we fished with Nate which really made the trip special for my dad and I. We got off the boat and immedately started catching fish. Rating here was 10 out of 10. When you only have 3 days available to fish, you dont want to be put on a full day trip without fish in the river when the other river was full. We were put that Spruce Moose lodging and that I would rate that 10 out of 10 as well. Also one other thing you should be aware of, we upgraded 1/2 day trips (5.5 hour I think) to 3/4 day trips (8 hour). The cost was approximatley $400. Where we fish in Michigan, you can catch and release all day long. In Alaska, once you reach a limit you are done. We did know that so if you are booking but we did not need a full day trip for either of the salmon trips. I hope this helps. Ron Eaton former video producer at Taggin Out Hunting

Came to Alaska for a senior fishing trip. Gary and Darlene took care of the six of us and accommodated one of the cabins to fit us all in. They were very flexible and accommodating to changes in scheduling. Definitely made my first Alaska experience amazing and rewarding.P.S. - They also have a really great recipe for deep fried halibut!

Darlene is absolutely wonderful. Gary is a great guy. He knows Alaska fishing inside and out, but if you cant handle an honest response, dont ask for his opinion. My son and I fished with Gary in 2005 and had the time of our lives. We booked again in 2017 and brought along my B/L and nephew. On the first trip, we found our own accommodations and hired Gary to guide trips for Kings, Halibut and a float plane trip for Sockeye. Weather didnt permit us to go out for halibut that year but we brought home 100# of salmon. On our off days, Gary told us where to go and how to fish.In 2017, we caught halibut, kings and managed to snag many sockeye in a weak run from the river front cabin that Darlene put us in. Gary re-rigged our personal gear and provided the boys with lessons on sockeye technique. We brought home 200# of fish and had a great time. Gary and Darlene both went far beyond our expectations to make our trip a memorial one. When we go back, we will definitely book through them.

King salmon fishing was a disappointment but lingcod, halibut, rockfish, and yellow eye was fantastic Gary and Darlene were wonderful host and were very accommodating had a great vacation and the memories I was hoping for.

I have been on the river with Gary a handful of times now, and I have never been disappointed. I have been in the boat on beautiful days, and I have been on the boat in some of Alaskas not-so-beautiful days. Never-the-less, I have always had a most enjoyable experience! My last visit was no different. Last summer, I booked a trip for some co-workers and myself. Gary and Darlene got us all squared away on lodging and handled all our questions like true pros. On the morning of our trip, it was a relatively decent day (weather wise)--but the more time we spent on the boat the more fun we had. Gary was a most gracious, and entertaining, guide--as usual and our whole party managed to get a King. We have definitely found our Alaska Connection in Fish On Charters, and we dont plan on going anywhere else for Alaska fishing in the future! Going back in 2020! Cant wait!

These guys are Great! Gary set us up with great guides and took care of anything we needed right away. They definitely get my recommendation. The cabins were nice and clean, the view from the lodge was really cool, we caught a ton of fish and learned a lot of new info each trip we took.

I have fished with Gary and a few of their other guides numerous times. Gary is a blast to be on a trip with as he is extremely knowledgeable and can spin a fish story like no other. Darlene has always been able to accommodate us even on short notice, she is very delightful and resourceful in making our trips memorable.

I booked a fishing trip for myself and my son and two grandsons July 2017. I wasn’t sure who to book with but found Alaska Fish On Charters online. They had great reviews so I booked the most amazing trip with them! the accommodations were clean and comfortable and the location was perfect. Darlene made all the arrangements for king salmon and halibut fishing. We caught king salmon (and they were monsters) and our limit for halibut, brought the catch back in our coolers, and Fish On cut, wrapped, and packaged the fish ready for our flight home. It was such a great setup and made the task of bringing the fish home very easy!Gary and Darlene went out of their way to make this amazing trip successful. If I ever go back to Alaska to fish, I will book with Alaska Fish On! They have it all figured out!

Have been at the lodge 4 times and always had great guides and caught our limit of fish every time we went on the river. One time we went out on our day off and didnt have much luck, Gary found this out and took us out that same evening to make sure we caught fish. Gary goes above and beyond to make sure his clients have a good experience,not to mention Darlene his wife is very helpful with directions when needed.She is helpful making reservations and Arrangements for outside trips also.Fish on charters is the place to go for a fishing trip of a lifetime.

Poor flexibility during travel restrictions during COVID. They wouldn’t directly answer their cancellation policy, instead reiterated that they are fishing. Well, that’s great but we won’t be if we can’t get there. Plus they are charging a rebooking fee if we can’t get our trip rebooked before 2021. For real, a rebooking fee? I can almost accept the deposit, but charging me more for a rebooking fee unless I can get there during the next 3 summer months is just a money grab. And. $250 rebooking fee at that. But, hey, there is just a global pandemic going on. They kept our deposit but we are going to salmon fish with another fisherman who has been great. And we have a halibut trip booked with another fisherman who was willing to refund our whole trip without issue when we were unsure if the quarantine would be lifted. I recommend you book elsewhere. There was not ONE tour, hotel or car that we booked that would not refund our money. One hotel even offered a full refund even though we were past their cancellation policy because, you know, GLOBAL PANDEMIC.

Pound for pound I feel like this is the best charter fishing outfit in Kenai! They really do care about you catching your limit and enjoying your stay.

Great way to start your Alaska fishing trip. Darlene was a huge help in getting us housing, charter fishing time, and even fish packaging. Don’t look anywhere else.

My wife and I booked a fishing trip with fish on charters for silver salmon and halibut fishing in September. Gary and Darlene were very gracious and provided us with all our expectations. We came home with 80 lbs of halibut and 50 lbs of salmon. We had the time of our lives. My wife now wants to make this an annual vacation.

I have never met more genuine and kind people who just want you to experience what it is like to catch an Alaskan salmon. The mornings might be early, but thats when the fish are active. We had a wonderful time at Alaska Fish On Lodge We had a group of 11 The Lodge is amazing . We had a great time with lots of salmon on our fishing trips Up the Kenia river . The fish processing was taken care of daily . We had two Halibut trips set up through Alaska Fish On Lodge .The first Long Range Halibut trip was not the greatest due to weather . But the Halibut trips out of Deep Creek was excellent . Alaska Fish On Lodge was awesome all around we want to Thank Alaska Fish On Lodge for treating my family like we were part of your family .
