Amazing Experience! We booked one day of Halibut and two days of King Salmon.King Salmon - we did not come home empty handed. Dean is an EXCEPTIONAL guide. He is passionate about what he does and it shows. His deckhand, Grant, was friendly and knowledgeable. I could not imagine fishing with any other company nor guide.Halibut - we limited out and took home about 40 pounds. Alan (captain) and Chase (deckhand) were definitely a hoot and we had a good time.The booking was easy and handled by Kristen who was kind and always available. She basically planned everything for us, so she made the trip that much better.We will be booking with King of the River next year.

Awesome experience. Went out with Jason who was super friendly, very detailed in making sure we were comfortable, and knew the Kenai like the back of his hand. We left with 5 cohos and the experience of a lifetime. Dean and Sherry were also awesome in answering our questions and making sure we were able to take our catch back with us to sunny California. A+!

We went out this morning for a half-day of silver salmon fishing with Arnold. The King of the River team lived up to their good reputation when we made our booking several weeks ago; they were communicative and got in touch yesterday to get our shoe sizes for gaiters. We arrived at the landing this morning at 5:20, excited to get started.Unfortunately, Arnold didn’t show until 5:45, without gaiters - add another 10 minutes for us to run back up the hill and change into our rain pants and boots (up to 5:55 now). Even then, it took him about 10 more minutes to get the gear ready. This whole time, he hadn’t introduced himself, apologized for being late, or done anything with more charisma than that of a wet noodle.We ended up getting on the water 35 minutes late and had one hit over the next three hours. Arnold emphasized how essential an early start was to getting a catch - painfully ironic. Obviously, a guide can’t control if the fish are going to bite. But starting early is one of the things that can be controlled, and he made sure that didn’t happen.We arrived at the end point an hour ago and once ashore, Arnold presumably went to call to arrange the truck/trailer to drive us back up to the starting point (he didn’t say anything, just walked off and didn’t come back for 20 minutes). We were at the landing for 40 more minutes just waiting.Alaska is beautiful and the scenery during the float down the river was pleasant. 100% recommend taking a boat ride or canoe trip. Maybe another King of the River guide, even. But I regret the time and money we wasted with Arnold today. I know I’m so lucky to be in beautiful Alaska, but knowing what an amazing privilege it is to be here makes it sting a bit more that we lost half a day. Really disappointed.

Had a great experience with Dean. He and the deckhand were super knowledgeable and great company. Got us hooked up fast with 2 beautiful salmon. Will definitely be back and would recommend anyone visiting to fish with King of the River.

I found myself thinking about this fishing charter while looking through some pictures of our trip in Alaska this past August. We had such an amazing time on the river. The guides know their stuff (we both limited out), are super friendly and have incredible backgrounds! They made our full day of fishing worthwhile. When we make it back to Alaska we will definitely be looking to do this river charter again. You really cant go wrong!

My wife and I took a half day trip with King of the River and we were fishing for Coho Salmon. It was one of the highlights of our trip, my wife enjoyed it so much that she said if had we done it earlier in our trip we probably would’ve tried to book a second day with them. You can tell Dean and Chad truly enjoy what they do and Dean’s knowledge of the Kenai River and salmon fishing is amazing. We were catching fish while a lot of others around us were not! Then at the end of the trip, he handled all the prepping and shipping of the fish for us. We would gladly recommend them to anyone.

The charter had three different people, who were equipped with three different types of bait. Only one type was working and there wasn’t enough for everyone to use it. One fisherman limited out, and the other two caught a total of one.

My family and I had a amazing day with Dean and Chad. This was our first trip to Alaska and I am so glad that we picked King of the River as our fishing charter. They are committed to giving you the best fishing experience. I recommend anyone that wants to catch some salmon to book King of the River!

Dean is a great fisherman, and not only patiently taught us how its done, put us on the fish, would recomend him to anyone, and will be back for sure.

Im a disabled man Who tends to push himself hard, with these guys today I had a the best time of my life we fished laughed then at the end of morning I tripped on a rock taking a cold dive in the river. After being rescued and helped up I laughed while Dean stressed out to make sure I was not hypothermic then we laughed about my 40 + pound fish story. Great company and a great place to be saved from.

Im a repeat customer with King of the River, and Im one that has never come home empty handed! Last year they added free accommodations for full-day fishing trips, which was a huge benefit. I was able to leave the night before from Anchorage, enjoy very comfortable accommodations, and wakeup fully rested to land some salmon! Highly recommended and will be back again in July 2015!

Decided to go fishing at the last minute, and chose King of the River. Dean was a great guide, knew his stuff, and we both limited out. The packaging of the fish was done beautifully, and we were excited to be able to bring it all home as a checked bag.

Due to high temperatures in July the Kenai river was too high, the fishing was lousy.
