Worst charter experience Ive had. I shouldve taken note as the previous charter was coming to their car with 1 fish and they were not happy. We went on the charter with grouchy Jeff to his faviorite 4 spots and didnt catch anything. He even said he had several tricks up his sleeve (which he never used). Jeff was on the phone doing other business and full of excuses as to why he couldnt catch anything (blaming commercial fisherman). Other charters were catching their limit regardless of the excuses Jeff professed (and laughed when I told them the story). Jeff, you shouldnt be in the charter business. At the very least you should tell your customers that you cant catch fish and your in for a miserable experience or cut your rate for poor service. Heck, we went on the river without a boat and caught more than you in less time. There are many good charters in Alaska, but this isnt one of them. My kids hated how he snapped at them after they tangled their lines. The most work Jeff did is untangle 2 lines at the end of the charter. Steer clear! There was a reason he had an opening when nobody else did.. He sucks!

So I wanted to take the time to put an honest review in- let me start by clarifying I’m not James - that’s the hubby- my name is Tina and I recently went on 2 charters while visiting Alaska. Jeff w AlaskaSlammin salmon - hands down tops any experience I had while visiting! First - the boat - compared to the first charter I ventured out on - his boat is well maintained and CLEAN! Maybe this isnt a must have for some - but let’s just say - I am respectful enough not to trash the first charter - especially in another’s review - the change was quite noticeable! Second- the accommodations! As a woman who LOVES to king salmon fish - there’s still a difference in needs while out on the water and I loved how Jeff addressed it from the beginning and said hey speak up and we’ll work it out! Third - the captain himself- I can’t say enough about Jeff - he was professional- humorous- knowledgeable about anything I inquired about and just a down to earth fellow! And fourth- which maybe should have been 1st - the fishing in the Kenai River!!! What an experience- I so wish I had a pic of that record breaker that got off right at the boat (they are always the biggest hahaha) but I pulled his head o it if the water and as we know - that was a wrap - fish gone - Jeff was just as upset as I was - which again just adds to the positive review I’m posting! I would without hesitation suggest this charter and tell you to ask about accommodations with lodging - I wish I had known when planning this trip-but now I’m aware for next trip w the hubby- since he was the missing link in this one :)

This is my 2nd year fishing with Alaska Slammin Salmon Charters. Fishing with Jeff is exceptional and I will continue to book with him in the years to come. Im not a great fisherman but Jeff is patient in teaching, ties your rig just right and really puts you on fish. Within the first hour out, he got us to a sweet spot and immediately hooked a nice 37lb King (pic below). Jeff knows the river well and is an excellent captain. Hes a busy fishing guide, one of the most sought after and he books up quickly. If you can find an opening in his schedule, grab it quickly! I highly recommend booking with him... you wont regret it. Kudos!
