Highly recommend staying with Terry and Angie at Salmon Catcher Lodge. You get their personal attention and excellent service. We booked all our guided trips right through them and they made sure we were satisfied. Their staff professionally processed all our fish and made sure it was ready for us to take home.
Terry was a great host. Christina, the master chef, was incredible. Dustin was the best fishing guide. He worked hard to help us catch sockeye and we did. Only advise is to confirm fishing arragments a week before. Great stay and fun with my son.
Salmon Cather Lodge provided me and the group with OUTSTANDING service for our entire visit of 7 days. The entire staff was very friendly and exceeded every expectation possible. We had food allergies in the group and the Chefs took great effort in accommodating those needs and prepared all of our meals to a top level standard. Terry and Angie made sure that we had our day plan the night before and then checked in on us daily to make sure that we were happy and if needed they offered to make any necessary adjustments to the plans as needed or requested. we did change from our initial plan and Terry made sure that everything was set up and waiting for us upon arrive at our new destination. Each and every guide we had for our daily trips was very knowledgeable and and professional and made each day a memory. Our Ultimate Fly Out day is a memory that will last a lifetime with fathers spending the day with their sons with the 4 of us catching almost 60 fish total, seeing bears beautiful untouched Alaska country, and having shore lunch. Salmon Cather Lodge is truly a gem among many other fish/vacation camps that stands above all others in quality of service and attention to the details.
Staff and owners were kind and accommodating. They take pride in their cabins and the services they provide. Beautiful place, perfectly located for what we needed. Full kitchen two bedrooms decently priced for last minute accomodations. Here for two nights 3 days wished we would have stayed here all week. Thank you
I highly recommend an staying at Salmon Catcher Lodge. An another awesome second stay in Alaska with Terry and Angie at their lodge. Fishing trips and guides that are they working with did their job and put us on the fish. Everybody from my group brought back home a 50 pounds of fish that was coughs by us on guided trips and afternoon bank local Kenai river fishing. All fish was professionally processed by his stuff and was waiting for us on out departure date.Thank You
Very nice lodge!much much more than expected.great food, rent cars.awesome fishing.owners very very accomodating.cant say enough how great the place is.the owners terry and angie take care of everything you need if you choose.we chose to just show up and let them handle everything.only thing i would change is length of time staying there!only did 3days and wish we would have done 7.awesome place, awesome time!
Terry and Angie were great to work with, as well as the entire staff, special shout to Risa. Great fishing and accommodations, sauna, jacuzzi, massage chairs. Cant wait to go back!
I cant say enough about this place! What a great experience.Terry and Angie Johnson run a top notch facility. My friend and I have been traveling to Alaska from Georgia to fish for the past 7 years. We have stayed at some of the nicest lodges in Alaska and the Salmon Catcher Lodge ranks up their with the best.I have seen some negative reviews about the services provided by Salmon Catcher Lodge but it is important to remember what services they are providing. They put you up in one of the nicest lodges in Alaska and you get to choose the level of service you want... from all meals provided to your on your own. We chose the full meal deal and we were never disappointed.. 5 star service and food very day.As far as the fishing goes.. Salmon Catcher provides the service of connecting you with some of the best guides and experiences the area has to offer. We fished for Salmon, Halibut and Trout for 7 days and we did not have a single disappointing trip. Some people posted negative comments about the lodge and the fishing but they cant control nature or the third party companies that provide the fishing services. You can take a chance and try and book your trips yourself but I caution against that.... Terry has doing years of business with these people and he has an inside track to securing you a seat on any number of exciting fishing adventures including flyouts.Bottom line.. you will not find a better Lodge or a better bunch of folks to deal with.Yes, Terry doesnt come across as a Disney Host but he and his wife Angie bust their butts to get things done for you and works with you as hard they can to make sure you have an enjoyable trip.Give them a try.. you want be disappointed.PS this truly is an unsolicited review.satisompanjust serveshe in
Super staff, comfortable accomodations, fabulous amenities...and very fair rate. Ill be back and hopefully be able to stay longer next time!
We had a great experience at Salmon Catcher Lodge ! We fished for six days, and the fishing was excellent. We were there the first week of August, and we consistently caught our limit of both sockeye salmon and halibut. The guides were very knowledgeable and personable. Don’t forget to ask about the canyon drift trip ! The accommodations were very comfortable, and the food was delicious. Terry and Angie did a great job for us ! Thank you !
I stay at the salmon Catcher Lodge as often as possible. The owners and all staff there are extremely friendly, polite, and courteous. The rooms have always been spotless, not to mention spacious. This family has gone all out to provide the most comfortable setting I know I could ever imagine. They are a ways out of town and it feels like you are in the state of the art and in the country all at the same time. If you have the opportunity and don’t mind relaxing in comfort than give them a try. I don’t know how anyone could have any disappointments
More than satisfied by taking a fishing trip with Salmon Catcher Lodge. Amazing experience and service.Terry, the owner is a very punctual and helpful man. Shipped our fish safe and sound to the mainlandWill definitely be back again. Thank you again
This was a wonderful experience. I stayed two nights for a quick work trip in January. The owners were extremely communicative and accommodating of my situation, which involved a potentially late-check-in. Their instructions were accurate and easy to use. The accommodation itself (McKinley Suite) was incredibly comfortable. The house is well insulated and quiet. There were no drafts. It was very clean and had a full-sized kitchen, which allowed me to buy groceries and cook for myself - keeping trip costs down. All the basics were there - kitchenware, coffee maker, etc. The unit had a washer and dryer. The bed was king-sized and more comfortable than the mattress I have at home. The unit has both a front and rear balcony with a wonderful view of the surrounding lush forest. Adjacent to the cabin is the office building with a sauna and gym and other amenities, which were also clean and appreciated. The location itself is a 10 minute drive south of the town of Kenai, and easy to access. I will absolutely be back in the future.
5/5 starsAmazing stay!!Very clean and beautiful rooms with the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on.They have a hot tub, sauna, fitness center, and even massage chairs!! To be honest, the massage chairs were probably our absolute favorite part. Everything you would want in a hotel and all for only $89, by far the best place you can stay! Will definitely be coming back! ☺️
In awe... by how the’ I assume’ Owner of Salmon Catcher just treated me.My advice to you is call them if u book a room and can’t make it....... I got down here a day later and now he no longer will do business with me?!?! I’ve stayed here a hand full of times and I always tipped so I’m pretty bummed out.... I’d give this lodge no star review bad customer service skills on his part!
Love it here!!! I would wholeheartedly recommend this lodge. We stayed here in the off season for a business trip and literally had the place to ourselves. Since we had to be in the area for almost a month in various places, it was SO NICE to spread out and relax in something more than a hotel room. The owner and staff are so great, Friendly and welcoming. The area is so peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by trees...its like being in a cabin in the woods. We had the top floor room in a large lodge that had high ceilings, a big kitchen and bath, and even a washer & dryer.I would definitely recommend staying here if youre in that area. Id go back to visit there for sure! Thanks for a great stay!
Beautiful place! Fantastic, super friendly owners.Great experience for my first Alaska trip.
Had a fantastic experience. Terry welcomed us like family, and our fishing guide was super experienced.
We came down to Kenai for a sports trip and booked our team here. Terry and Angie (along with staff) were absolutely amazing and so accommodating. I would recommend this lodge to anyone and everyone for any reason that your traveling to the Kenai / Soldotna area! We can’t wait to come back and visit!
Amazing log cabin, far more than I expected. 3 beds, laundry, full kitchen were all beyond expectations. Quiet and beautiful area. Owners definitely take pride in the care, cleaning and decor. I didnt get a chance to use sauna or hot tub, but I will be back.
I went there to check out the house keeping crew but its a beautiful place, all their cabins are nice log buildings that are kept clean and they have a fish process building where you can get your fish processed an sealed in bags
If in need of amazing cabins as well as the most friendly staff, LOOK NO FURTHER. I couldnt believe the distance Terry is willing to go to make you feel at home. My family and I were stranded during a fire that was blocking our way back to the airport and needed a place to stay asap. Terry quickly offered any assistance. Highly recommend!
This was our first time staying at the Salmon Catcher Lodge. Although it is not directly located on the Kenai River it is a very convenient location to access multiple river spots. The facilities are modern, clean and well maintained. Terry is the owner and makes sure you have everything you need. It was a great pleasure staying there and we will return again for sure.
Just got back yesterday from our week at the Salmon Catcher Lodge. It was an AWESOME experience. Everyone at the lodge is very accommodating to all your needs. We had so much fun catching Sockeye, Kings and Halibut. Thank you so much Terry, Angie, Eddie, and all the staff for making this a dream vacation for us! We will be back!
I stayed the first weekend in October 16 with three of my younger children. It was wonderful! They staff was friendly and the apartment was perfect. Kids loved it so much they want to go back every year. Its a little out of town, however for us that made it that much more relaxing. Thank you for your hospitality.
I stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip. The first room had a problem, so when I told the owner about it he moved me into a different (upgraded) unit while I was at work that day. This place is super comfortable, quiet of course, and beautiful! I was really impressed with the rooms and with the people. Lots of details that are really appreciated even though I didnt use them such as plenty of BBQ grills by all of the buildings, and free used of fishing gear, coolers, etc.. I will be staying here again next time Im in the area.
Thank you Terry, Angie, and your family/employees for a wonderful stay at Salmon Catcher Lodge in mid-June, 2020. First off, the accommodations were spotless. Our room was neat, clean, the kitchen was fully furnished with a gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, blender, coffee maker, toaster, utensils, cookware, etc. And the bed was VERY comfortable. Because we did not sign up for the meal plan, we bought all of our groceries and supplies at Fred Meyer down in Soldotna and cooked our own breakfast and packed our own lunches each day. Then we hit St. Elias Brewery (our favorite) and/or Pizza Boys, another great spot for food and brew. Soldotna has a few great restaurants, so I recommend giving them all a try.Because this is the year of COVID, our original trip, planned for February, had to be delayed. Terry was great about rolling with the punches and didnt give me any grief for rebooking at a later date and he didnt charge me anything extra. It was unclear up until the last minute whether or not Id be able to make the trip work, and Terry assured me that everything would be fine. It all worked out great and Im so thankful that we were able to make a trip work out that I had been planning for over a year with my 13 year-old son despite the COVID testing, flight arrangements, and everything else that could seemingly become a hurdle. You honestly only need to bring a carry-on with enough changes of clothing to last the week. Terry has all the waders, rods, nets, and gear you need (you will have to buy some tackle). Bring warm clothing and rain gear... Youll need it. I learned the weather in Alaska changes hourly.Terry has the connection with a lot of great guides. We fished the Kasilof, the Kenai, and we spent a couple days fishing out of Ninilchuck out on the Cook Inlet for Halibut. We came home with about 135lbs of fish, so the trip was an absolute success! Terry and Angie will process, freeze, and pack the fish for you. I only paid $39 to get all the fish home on Delta due to my status on that airline.Im already hoping I can make another trip up that way. If so, I will absolutely stay at Salmon Catcher Lodge and request that I go out again with some of the same guides we went out with this time around.
Thank you, Terry! Really enjoyed our stay. You hooked us up with two great fishing trips! You and your staff are top notch. Hope to do it again!
Incredible experience. Made me feel like family. Could not have any more accommodating and helpful. Thanks so much. Chris
Salmon Catcher was perfect. The communication with owner and manager was A+. Clean nice and great setting.
Rented out the whole main cabin and got a screaming deal. Great thanks giving with a decent size group of family. Love this place every time I come here!
This place completely blew my expectations out of the water. Family ran and fairly priced. Will be back for sure. Highly recommend.
Loved this place! Great prices in the late season high during mid summer but it makes sense. Packing for fish available and info on charters
Wonderful place!!! Terry and his family went above and beyond the call of duty. I would come back here anytime. Wonderful place!!!
Girlfriend and I took our first fishing trip to Salmon Catcher Lodge last July. Terry, Angie and Adrienne took care of every aspect of our stay. This is a family run lodge and they take care of every detail of your stay. Seriously, every detail. They arranged all fishing excursions and we dropped fish off at all hours for full service processing right at the lodge. When we left they had everything vacuum sealed and portioned out for us. We saw a moose, multiple caribou and bald eagles from the lodge. There are multiple public fishing areas on the Kenai river within minutes of the lodge. The Kenai peninsula was so beautiful we named our dog after it! We are still enjoying what’s left of our smoked salmon 6 months later. I highly recommend a stay with the Johnson’s at Salmon Catcher Lodge and will be planning my next trip up there with him soon.
Great accommodations. Very friendly staff. We will definitely be back.
Great Place ! Salmon Catcher Lodge is a very comfortable lodge and Terry and his staff are very accommodating! Fun place for both the avid fisherman and familes.
Great, we would stay there again!
It was great but the owner was an ass hole or his brother was any way
Great place to stay. Bon fire every night outside the cabins. Friendly staff.
I first stayed at Salmon Catcher in 2007 and had to come back and this time bring along my son which we did June 4-10, 2017. After reading a few negative reviews I felt the need to weigh in as a repeat guest of Terry and his family. The place is first class as far as the lodging is concerned with nothing but the best from the appliances, bedding and decor. Even the gas grill we used for fresh caught halibut on the deck was top notch. Terry booked three trips as we requested, and each guide was outstanding. We did two float trips on the Kasilof with two different guides (the Kings were not yet plentiful on the Kenai) along with a Halibut trip fishing out of Homer. I really wanted to again fish the Kenai but Terry and his guides suggested timing was not yet right, which I appreciated. I am writing a magazine article right now on our trip, thus felt the need to provide anyone who cares, a recap of my very positive experience with Salmon Catcher lodge, Terry Johnson and his fine family. It is hard to please some folks, as with the few negative posts, so if feedback from someone who has fished and hunted with many great outfitters in many great places matters, we had a second outstanding time! Terry and his crew made our Alaska experience better than we could have imagined. I took my son and son-in-law for the great fishing experience to Alaska and Salmon Catcher Lodge. From the time we arrived until we left, Terry and his crew did all they could to make our trip memorable. The lodge is comfortable, well designed, and very picturesque. Terry set us up with very capable guides who, though we arrived between the sockeye and silver runs, put us in the best spots. They patiently taught us the fine art of the Kenai flip and we regularly caught our limit. We float fished the Kenai, ocean fished for Halibut, lingcod, salmon, and rock fish. It was exciting and we loved every minute. Also, it was shameful how much fish we brought home.
Location:Little bit off the main path. We were the to fish the kenai river and for the most part when we were heading out to fish it was 20 to 30 minutes to the fishing spots. There was one fishing access spot about 5 minutes from the lodge. The lodge rooms themselves were great. Clean and good amenities. Community Hot tub. Massage chairs were a bit rough but still nice. And sauna .They had a dinner for everyone to get together one night and that food was amazing. The fishing trips they sent us on were all great apart from the one we took in seward called vader. No salmon. No halibut. Only rock fish. The fly out to wolverine creek is a must Roth alaska air west. Fly out to the lake, fish and see the bears.Terry the owner and his staff were all very helpful And kind . Adrian would pricess our catch of the day very quickly to keep it fresh.I would reccommend going to Homer to get halibut. We didnt do that and that was my only regret.
Amazing staff and great price for what you get
Great people very accommodating highly recommend!
