GREAT trip to Alaska, would not have been the same without a stop at Tower Rock. The guides, the chef, the cabins, and of course the fishing was as good as it gets. The best was walking down to the Kenai River from our cabin to catch our limit. An experience our family will never forget. Thanks for the memories and great hospitality.

The Tower Rock Lodge (TRL) was our first Alaska fishing experience and It would be hard to find anything better than this special place. The experience began well before our arrival with excellent communication. Griff, the customer/marketing contact kept things light with his thorough emails and was readily available to answer questions. The high points: easy to reach by car from Anchorage with stops along the way recommended by Griff. Upon arrival we were greeted by Gabe, TRL’s chef, and offered Chardonnay and smoked salmon dip. The lodge has a comfortable central dining hall/gathering place with a fire pit, horseshoes and corn hole. We didn’t stay in the cabins but the Jefferson House was very nice. Just be aware that although it can sleep in excess of 4 there is only one full bath and the second bedroom is partitioned off from living room with rolling walls. The heated floors in the bathroom were fantastic! The food was very well done! Tasty food, good variety. And the wine quality and quantity satisfied our group of wine enthusiasts. The friendly staff worked hard at accommodating everyone. Now to the fishing … would HIGHLY recommend a fly out fishing trip as part of your stay. Our trip to Clark NP was spectacular! Fishing guides are some of the best and did everything they could to make sure we caught our limit. As a woman I felt welcomed — even if there were...More

Tower Rock was a magical experience! This trip was my first time to Alaska, and my expectations were exceeded in every way. The location of the lodge was so peaceful and picturesque, the staff was so accommodating, the accommodations were very comfortable and the guides were best in class. We went late in the season and were the only boat catching fish due to our guide’s expertise! Shout out to Joe! We also made a day trip to Homer - an easy one hour trip away and well worth the visit. Would absolutely return and recommend to anyone from friend groups, families, corporate groups, etc!

Fantastic time spent with my two sons! The first afternoon of our arrival we waded in front of the lodge, beautiful location, after 30 minutes had my limit of Sockeye salmon, WOW! Great food, lodging, and staff. Our biggest halibut was a hundred twenty five pounds, and saw over twenty bears the next day on the fly out! The lodge supplied everything we could possibly need! Were planning a trip for next season.

Was at Tower Rock Lodge in September of 2018 and had a blast! Went to Alaska to catch one salmon but i ended up catching multiple and yes they were absolutely delicious. Our guide convinced me to try fly fishing which i had never done before and caught steelheads! What-a-trill! Everything was absolutely incredible. The lodging was comfortable and clean, the food was delicious, the staff is nice and really pays attention to details and we even had great laughs with the other guests around the fire pit. We had such a good time. Cant wait to go back!

Our first trip and what an amazing Alaska experience! Thank you Tuhys. We stayed in the lodge which is beautiful, but the best part of Tower Rock was the staff. Mark and Mike are gracious hosts that keep you entertained and comfortable. The guides are awesome and worked hard to get us the best fishing, which was world class. The food was excellent, the excursions were excellent, the weather somehow was excellent, and the 200 lbs of fish we brought back and are eating is excellent! We cant wait to get back. See you guys soon.

This past spring (last week of May) my father/brother/two familyfriends and myself got our first try at Alaskan fishing and Tower RockLodge really helped make it a good experience. Their choice oflocations/setting was exactly what we were hoping for: in the woods, along the river, ‘cabin’ feel accommodations while still having allthe conveniences you could ask for (hot water, warm beds, good food, internet, easy access to town/civilization, etc). All of the staff did a great job of making us feel at home and part ofthe family. The fishing guides were knowledgeable, helpful, laid backand attentive to making sure we got the experience we were lookingfor. On the fishing front one of the things I really appreciated wasthere was no ‘fixed schedule’ each night we would get asked how thingswent, what we liked, what we wanted to do, and told all the details onhow things had been going in the various spots and fishing styles tomake an informed decision about what would be the best plan for thenext day.Another great thing about this lodge was the food! Every night was aunique, well prepared and satisfying meal. Each morning was alogically laid out (going on the rough sea? Probably not a great ideato eat bacon and eggs so here’s is pancakes and cereal…..cold morningon the river ahead of you? Here’s some hot biscuits and gravy to getyou warmed up) choice of items to either sit down with or take withyou. Picnic lunches were also packed with plenty of snacks to munch onthroughout the day and brought along by the guides for ourconvenience. One day we even had a hot fish lunch cooked on the rockybank of the river during our float down stream, couldn’t be more‘iconic.’Few ‘pro’ tips I picked up along the way if you’re heading up to TowerRock: 1) bring twice as many warm socks as you think you need, theboats are metal (for reasons you will figure out) and therefore thedeck is generally the same icy temperature as the water and rubberwaders, while water proof, don’t provide much warmth. 2) Spend yournights around the camp fire, nothing says camping/fishing more thendrinking and stories around a fire in the ‘dark’ 3) Spend the moneyfor a peak season trip (we went on the early side of the season andwhile enjoyable the colder than normal temperatures meant many of thesalmon hadn’t started swimming up river, nothing that is the lodgesfault, just something to be aware of)

Our family has been coming to Tower Rock Lodge for nine years. This is the highlight of our summer or fall. Every visit has been incredible. Not only are the accommodations great but the food is delicious. The guides have taught our sons how to fish Alaska style. They are now grown and both involved in fishing wherever they are. A big thanks to all the patient guides for these life lessons.Whether your Back bouncing for Kings, drifting for Trout, swinging for Steelhead, or throwing streamers at Silvers and Dollies. This is the place!Dont forget the fly outs which are very special, seeing Alaska from a float plane is a must do experience. We look forward to all the stories around the fire pit and the friends we have made. Mike and Mark will make your sides ache with laughter. Not to mention all the wild life weve seen. Eagles, Moose, Caribou, Bears (all these Ive seen ON the Lodge property). This is still a true wild place, a rare thing in these times. Were counting the days until our next trip.....Geoff Culhane and Ohana

I havent visited Tower Rock Lodge, so I cant say anything about the accommodations or the experience there other than this. Ive had business dealings with the owner, Mike, and he is a rock solid person. I grew up in Alaska fishing the Kenai (and the tribs), so I dont have a need for a guide, but Ive told all of my friends and business acquaintances who are looking for a productive, exhilarating, and relaxing fishing trip to patronize Tower Rock. Mike is a first class person, and I would be amazed if he didnt ensure first class service at Tower Rock.

I didn’t quite know what to expect when my husband told me he booked the “Greatest Fishing Experience in Alaska” for our 25th wedding anniversary. I have been awarded the pleasure of many a guided fishing trips as it is my passion, and most have been fairly rustic. The guide service was adequate but not exceptional, until we arrived in Alaska. All that would change the minute we drove into the TOWER ROCK LODGE compound on the Kenai River. We drove past literally dozens of fishing lodges and promises along the way, but our booked destination is by far the best surprise at the end of the road. When you drive in the compound you’re greeted by a two story lodge with a stone front facing and second floor porch made of the pristine cannery lumber that used to operate on the property. The lodge is nestled up against the Kenai River and trees surround all of it. Its breathtaking scenery is only enhanced when you drive around the gravel road toward the cabins that outline the meeting fire pit in the center of it all. You also pass a dining hall that accommodates everyone. The cabins are made of logs as the eatery that serves breakfast/lunch and dinner at a five star quality. Each cabin has several beds in it, but the oversized bathrooms offer the finest back home experience in the wild. Perfect for those ladies who want a little outdoors and a little luxury. Don’t let the rustic welcome fool you, this remote wilderness offers the best customer service available in the hospitality business! The guides take great pride in your success. Names like, “Big Game,” who watches your back for potential threats, or even slipping on the rocks in your wading boots. When we arrive a guide named Ocean, who had no issue with carrying our 50 lb bags over the rock driveway just to protect them, met us. Carson, another guide was extremely hilariously patient with my children as they cast in alternate directions from his instruction. Joe is very informative about the conditions, the area, the history and the knowledge of fishing. He shares all he knows just so you can bring them home. Their only goal is to make your visit a lasting lifetime impression. Yes, men it’s about the fish you catch and we caught 100 pounds of Sockeye Salmon and Halibut the few days we were here. Mike and Marc, the owners, make you feel like you’re part of the family, caring for your every need during your stay.We flew on a floatplane to a remote area on a lake fed by a glacier. We were not too cold, nor too hot. It was perfect spinner rod fishing in some of the most beautiful backdrop of natural landscape in the world. The Tower Rock Lodge set up an excursion for us to meet Jim who owns Ninilchik Saltwater Charters. He took our whole family of six out to what he called Idaho on the bay for Halibut fishing. My daughter caught nine fish in two hours! The fish stories by the circle campfire at the end of the evening are epic. Families converge to meet before cocktails and dinner. There’s just enough time to play games, chess, talk, drink and socialize before turning in for that much needed sleep so we can do it all over again. For me, my adult son met lifelong friendships. My husband and I reconnected because it is a true vacation experience. My adult daughter caught more fish than all of us, and the other members of our family took the most amazing video and pictures. I want to shout a huge thank you to everyone who worked so tirelessly to make this experience such a wonderful value for the money spent. We plan on coming every year!#FamilyFriendly, #FishingLodge, #Womenwelcome, #CatchFish, #BestAlaskaVacation

They advertise themselves as a fly angling lodge. Not if you go during the meat season in July. Get ready to back troll egg sacks for kings and rip (read snag) reds right in front of the lodge. They also advertise having a chef. Well he took last summer off. Every meal we ate was sub-par. At lunch one day they served pasta sauce from a jar and pasta. Didnt even add any meat.I expected much more that what I got especially considering for the same price I could have gone to a fly-out camp or fished Bristol Bay Area.

Having never been to AK before, I spent a lot of time...and I mean A LOT of time...looking for the perfect destination for my dad and I to have our Once in a lifetime father & son fishing trip. Weve been talking about this trip for several years, so our expectations for a good time and great fishing were extremely high. Not only were these expectations met, but they were blown out of the water by Mike, Mark, and the entire TRL staff. This place absolutely ROCKS.THE LODGE:The accomodations are top notch. We stayed in the Main Lodge during our entire week-long stay. Ordinarily, the Main Lodge sleeps 8 in three seperate bedrooms. We actually had the entire building to ourselves during the majority of the trip, but it wouldve been completely fine had the building been fully booked. Plenty of room, private bathrooms, totally clean and comfortable accomodations. A perfect combination of rustic, up north and modern & clean. The housekeeping staff did a wonderful job keeping everything more than tidy.THE FOOD:Mike, Noonie, Guy (sp?), and staff absolutely blew us away with the food. Breakfasts included, Eggs Benny, French Toast, Hash (AWESOME).....all were incredible. Lunch included homemade seafood chowder, moose chili, hot sandwiches, box lunches for fly-outs and deep-sea trips, and an incredible shore lunch of halibut, salmon and veggies prepared streamside by the Guides. Epic. Dinners included porkloin and noodles, Prime Rib, and incredible authentic Thai dinner of chicken curry & spring rolls, beef tenderloin, and a seafood dinner of king crab, halibut and salmon. We could eat all we wanted, drink all the wine we could handle, and enjoy a cigar by the campfire afterwards. To top things off, the desserts absolutely rocked!THE FISHINGOur trip included fly-rod fishing for Rainbow & Dolly Vardon, deep sea fishing for Halibut, Rockfish & Lingcod, and stream fishing for Silvers and Pinks. Our guides D-Money, Mark and Burner did everything they could to keep us on the fish....all did a great job. My dad and I are pretty experienced fisherman, but I can see these guys being great with everyone from absolute beginners to experts. All were very experienced about the Kenai and kept things light-hearted and fun. We left with plenty of halibut and salmon, both smoked and fresh.THE VAULEHaving looked at scores of lodges/outfitters, TRL is an aboslute slam-dunk when it comes to value. You can pay a hell-of-alot more at other lodges...and Im sure theyre fine, but the accomodations, fishing, and food at TRL cant be topped. Dollar for dollar, its a no-brainer. Im already planning my return trip!THE VIBEMike & Mark...wow. Two laid back, west-coast guys that totally get it. Theyve figured out how to combine top notch fishing, incredible accomodations and food, along with a relaxed, fun vibe that makes it more than just a fishing trip. We spent plenty of time just hanging out, joking around, and talking about fishing, Portland (Multnomah Village for Life!), and old-school Professional Wrestling.....yes, wrestling. Tons of laughs, cocktails, and good times! The rest of the staff was very nice, professional and accomodating. Rooms and the grounds were always clean and well kept, and totally safe and secure. Well done guys!
