I love genesis and what they have to offer, but I just dont understand why would they spend money on renovating the Independence location before the Vivion Rd. location. This location has so many out-of-order equipment, water stains, out-of-order toilets in the womans bathroom, and horrible A/C. I found it so difficult to do cardio in the summertime. It felt like a sauna up there at times. Please get this place some TLC its such a close drive from home.

Horrible company, lied to in order to get signed up. Worst customer service. Highly do not recommend going to this gym. Not worth the $55+ a month either. Go to lifetime 100% worth the extra money!My car got stolen from this location. Genesis refused to give me or the police officers video surveillance. Kept saying that the “manager” wasn’t available.

To be honest, I’ve been sitting on this review for a while just to make sure I wasn’t being reactive. But I feel though now I am a good headspace to write a honest review. I worked at Genesis last year (and for a few months a couple years prior) and previous to that I was a member for about 4 years. When I got hired for the second time to the kids club, I was super excited! I love working with kids and love working out.. so it was a win/win! When I was hired, I wasn’t properly trained (either time I was hired). I just kind of improvised and asked questions as I went along. The environment of the play room was absolutely disgusting. All of the toys are worn down, not clean, and broken. At one point we cleaned out the pack and play to find a nest of spiders. My manager Heather would complain when select kids would come in which made it pretty hard to have a positive atmosphere. When it came to hours, I was pretty flexible and tried to pick up or switch shifts when it was needed even though I had my son with me at work often. (Which they did not seem to like even though it was allowed). I wasn’t a perfect employee by any means, I called in a few times for personal reasons, but I did try. I decorated their play room, cleaned and rearranged often, printed out coloring pages for the kids, bought chalk for the kids, and more.. these were all things that were not asked of me but simply because I wanted to help. Kids and their parents would come to me and tell me how much they loved it when I was working. For four months, I was an average of 5 minutes late to clocking in.. which I understand is a problem if the company doesn’t allow for flexibility. Generally I was there.. I was just getting my son set up before I physically clocked in. Not once did they speak to me about this.. until four months later when the used it as an excuse to cut my hours to 10 hours a week. 10 HOURS. I was obviously upset so I went to speak to manager and asked if they could communicate with me before just cutting my hours and I’d be 100% willing to fix whatever I’m doing wrong. Josh then said that this was my chance to prove that I was good employee and that he won’t fix my hours. At that point I was ready to quit, but stayed to see if things would improve . I clocked in on time and tried my best to go above and beyond. Within one week I was fired through text. TEXT. Like they’re a boyfriend who wants to end things but doesn’t have the guts to say it to my face. Extremely unprofessional. Anyway, besides their poor communication, terrible costumer service, broken equipment, hole in gym floor, disgusting play room, poor treatment of employees, open sexual harassment, oh and their sad excuse for management... this is a great place to workout! :)

I go to this gym every morning and I love it! Everything’s laid out perfectly and the staff is great. It makes working out every morning a good time!

Great gym. Friendly staff. Excellent workout equipment selection with good variety. Spaces aren’t too crowded and the setup of the gym makes sense in terms of equipment placement and overall navigation of gym areas. I’m definitely going back!

I was in a car accident 16 years ago and have had 35 surgeries over the years with a lot of physical problems and physical therapy. I’ve went to other gyms, but none that worked with me like at this Genesis. Preston signed me up and works with me every day that I come in 5 days a week and goes out of his way to be there to help me and encourage me.I also watch my nephews full time for my sister and when I would go to the YMCA he hated the the daycare there and I couldn’t go when I had him. Now, it’s a pain trying to pull him out of the Genesis daycare because he loves it and they have a wonderful staff in there too! That was the first selling point for me! I highly recommend this gym!

Dont go there. They are bunch of liers and thiefs. They will rip you off in any way they can. Before you sign the contract everything is smooth and nice BS promises. tricks people with contract .Stay away from this place on Vivion road at Kc.they are bottom of the barrel..worst customer service in ever

This gym has been my favorite experience with any gym I’ve used. They have all the equipment I’ve needed and I’ve seen a lot of progress here.

I have been going to this gym for a number of years, and it is by far my favorite! True, it is a bit older, but for bodybuilding, I think there is no better option for me! I would highly recommend everybody trying them out!

I LOVE THIS CLUB. Ive been a member since it was Gold Gym and this is by far the best gym Ive been enrolled in. The staff is super friendly and no one makes you feel unwelcomed. Very clean environment especially the bathrooms and cardio machines. Every chance I get I always recommend Genesis to all my friends and family. Ive made so many good friends at this gym and will continue to be a member as long as I can

Do not go to Genesis unless you want to take a chance getting Covid-19. Nobody is wearing their masks, they dont have anything to wipe the equipment off and I didnt even see hand sanitizer anywhere. The employees were not even wearing masks. When I said something to Josh about nobody wearing masks he just said okay which is not professional and against the citys mandated health codes.Genesis Health Club also has the worst equipment I have seen. I only tried 4 things in the weight area and saw tape on some things. I also went up to the cardio area but 4 machines would not even turn on. I have never seen equipment as bad as theirs. Ive used better equipment at appointment complexes, which was old.The city should shut this place down.

Been a member here for years. Wouldnt want to go anywhere else. The other members are kind and considerate. Everyone is always willing to assist you if you ask. Some of my closest friends were found here. Ive been to many other facilities, none of them quite feel the same.

As far as the one on Vivion Rd. in KC, the sauna has not worked properly in years. It is warmer in the main part of the gym than in the sauna. The steam room is broken more than it is fixed. The front desk always has an excuse as to why things dont work right.

Everyone I’ve met who works here currently is very kind and courteous. Silas has always been very helpful at the counter up front. The equipment is old school which is one of the reasons why I love it. They’ve got a dry and wet sauna that is great to use for warming up before a workout. Also I appreciate the layout of this facility over the others due to the upstairs cardio and downstairs weight training.

Most annoying cancelation process I’ve ever went through for a gym membership. I was told by Genesis Corp that I have to pay 200$ plus the 80$ for the the two months that they tried to withdraw from my account (when I already spoke with the sales manager about canceling). I was also told that they will continue to add the monthly payments to my account until the 200$ Cancelation fee is paid in full. This gym membership isn’t even worth it. I’d much rather be at anytime fitness. I’m paying less for a cleaner gym with a 24 hour pass and same equipment.

Been going to a couple of different Genesis locations for a couple of years. Wont be going anywhere else as long as I can help it! Theyve got the best equipment and the heavy lifting atmosphere I need.

Very underhanded. The gym is nice and all, but DO NOT go here. They rip you off with fees. I signed a one year contract in person and was VERY clear it would only be one year since I was moving out of the area. (which I did after my 12 months) A year and a half later I find they auto-renewed without my permission! No email, no confirmation. No receipt. Nothing. Plus it was on a card I no longer used and theyd already charged me 4 months along with random fees. I called them to try and work it out. Wouldnt budge. They claimed Id initialed some fine print that allowed them to auto renew. Who does that?? Besides, I was VERY clear in person that I only wanted a one year contract and why I paid in full on the spot. Anyway, I had my credit card company take care of it to dispute the charges. Should be good, right? NOPE! Guess what? When my cc co revoked the charges what did the gym do? They sent it to collections and tried to ruin my credit! I have excellent credit and have never had this much trouble. Save yourself time, frustration and money. I wish I did.

Love finally getting back in the gym again! This place has plenty of space with a lot of the same equipment, so you never feel to close to someone or need to wait on equipment.

Like someone already said, employees standing around talking, not doing anything. When they could be cleaning up some of the many messes around. Hazards everywhere! Grips missing or torn on many machines. Many of the treadmills need new belts, should not be usable, but they are still allowing people to use them! When you are on them, there is a give when you are running or walking on them. Which is a hazard because you can slip and fall off. If you do fall off, the plastic end caps are missing on 60% of them, so your shin or whatever scrapes against them and rips your skin off! Those caps are there for a reason. Then near at least two of the outlets the drywall is ripped out, so I know for a fact that is a hazard! whoever inspects this property is not doing their job! The steam room is one of the main reasons I joined this gym, but I question the cleanliness of it also. When I was there last they had it closed to work on it(hopefully). I paid a year up front, and I will not be going back, it is a joke, a mess, a cluster f**k! I have pictures of the equipment and some other things that were messed up, but I could have kept going and took many more of all the problems. Its too bad, because it has potential.

I have worked out here since 1990. The group fitness classes are wonderful. If you want to be inspired work hard and get your tail kicked come to a group class. This gym is where you come to change your body. Lots of hard work and inspiring members belong here. Working out is a challenge so take it from someone who tried to work out at home with a basement full of equipment you will get more done in a month of group classes than a year at home.

Despite the negative reviews, its a pretty nice atmosphere, and to be around like minded individuals who are serious about their workouts makes it even better, the staff is OK, and as far as the charges, Ive had my round with them and they quickly worked to fix it to my satisfaction....I switched from planet fitness to worlds and my experience is a 100 times better! As far as the cleanliness its adequate, it doesnt take much to wipe something down prior to using it and the temp is just right, the goal is to break a sweat not freeze your ass off!

I use this gym on a very frequent basis. The trainers and staff are always fantastic and treat everyone with respect. Its always clean and not cluttered. The music selection never fails for a good workout! Come check them out!

I have exercised in this gym location for several years, prior to the Worlds Gym brand of Golds Gym. I always thought that the staff of the facility was most welcoming previously, but since the brand change, I have been very disappointed. The front desk personnel rarely acknowledge my entrance with more than frowns or grunts. Rarely do staff wander about the gym to encourage members. Rarely do staff exhort members to rack weights or wipe down equipment and benches, Cleanliness of the facility is only fair, especially as there is no culture for cleaning equipment/benches. Now, I am an old guy, so I realize that my concerns are NOT the same as the young body builders. However, I do have options. I will continue working out here for the duration of my contract.Update, 08/10/16: During my recent visit, there were NO paper towels for cleaning equipment. I reported this and was told that the towels were on order. This is ridiculous! I also noticed that there was no entrance to the womens dressing room, and a woman complained loudly about the fact that the womens bathroom by the fountains near the front office was not working and stank. I dont understand.

I canceled my contract over a year ago. This month they billed me for the yearly contract fee. I clearly cancelled my contract before I renewed and they still charge me. It wasnt a bad gym but they arent very transparent and there is a disconnect somewhere in the office.

NOT TRANSPARENT WITH MEMBERS. I had an issue with my payments, stayed in contact with this gym, set up a payment plan with them to get everything back in order because I had ran into some health issues, was without income, and had to let them know.I was grateful that they were willing to work things out with me, and TRUSTED them with both my checking account information and my debit card. WRONG MOVE.I had a payment plan set for $50 a week! We had issues with the way they processed my payment and I was being proactive with them, to make sure I held up my end of my agreement.TODAY, I woke up to an UNAUTHORIZED charge of almost $300. When I called to get things straightened out, JODI, was not listening to what I had to say. I had never spoken with her, and they are NOT TRANSPARENT with their members.I will be taking legal action for this, and DONT recommend anyone to join.

Best gym ever! Love the support from the employees and the daycare...You will NOT find anyone that cares as much about your children as those ladies in here! They treat your kids like their own. I look forward to my workouts everyday because of this gym.

Too many workers standing behind the desk as you walk in jaw-jacking. theyre buff by steroid standards and always talking about various vitamins or supplements theyre taking. would have been nice to see them walking around wiping down sweaty equiptment and offering assistance to those of us new to the gym. kinda embarrassing having to walk up front and interrupting their conversation to ask for assistance. quit after a few months.

I have been a member for about three years. I really liked it when Anthony was the manager and it was a Golds Gym. Since becoming Worlds Gym and getting new management, I am not very happy. The staff does not greet members when we come in or leave, they seem disinterested in helping me, and they rarely can be found out on the gym floor to answer questions. In the evening, the music is techno/rap and played too loud, especially if you are in the weight room under the rotunda roof. Management needs to have an attitude talk with staff and remind them that WE are the reason that THEY have a job!

I used this gym for the 2 months I was stationed in Kansas City and it was great! It had plenty of equipment for both cardio and strength and it was never too crowded. The steam room and sauna were wonderful and the staff were very nice and helpful. Great gym. *Definitely try at least one group exercise class!

Went here for almost 2 years. Had a 1 year contract and finished it. Then I was told I would be moved month to month. Somehow that meant another 1 year contract. Had to move out of state for work. Was told to put in a 2 month notice to end the month to month payments. Did that and still getting charged for the year contract that I never signed for and was told would be month to month. Also paid for the wifes gym contract. Hers ended a month ago and Im still paying for that. Makes no sense on why Im paying for a membership that Im not contractually obligated too.

After coming from 24hr, it was nice to find a place where everyone was working out instead of hanging on the equipment talking. It was really refreshing to have a staff that actually helped me out on my workouts instead of just saying hire a trainer. My biggest fear was being laughed at, however I felt welcome from the moment I arrived. I would give this gym 5 stars. Keep up the good work!!

Its a good gym, it has all of the equipment that youll ever need and has a pretty serious atmosphere. There is still that casual feeling in the cardio area. They offer plenty of group classes and have a sauna. The staff was friendly and very straightforward with me about all of the fees and and programs. The only downside is weekend hours kind of suck and its not open 24 hours. If you can cope with that then youre set.

Love this place! Ive been there three years. A cool place to meet new people, chat, and, of course, work out. Sauna and steam room are nice.

I only used this gym because it was cheap and I only used it during the weekends, as my office had a gym across the street (Lifetime Fitness). My membership expired and their client services called me direct. I told them I would renew at the same price, and they said it wasnt a problem and I could handle everything at the club. Once I got to the club, the price was double. I personally would spend a few dollars more per month and get a better ran club. Most of the treadmills have issues with them. Several dont power on. Some, the incline doesnt work. Several of them, the tread on the belt is wearing through the treads and couple of them the Belt slips while running on it. Very dangerous. Half the TVs are never powered on. I dont think I have ever seen the Steam room actually work. The pros would be that they have good weight equipment but they could use a few more plates. Sometimes its hard to just find a 10lb plate.. Good selection of options overall for weight training. Gym is never cold as far as the A/C... which is good. I travel a lot so I am going to give PF a shot. Not as good of a selection for weight training, but hopefully the equipment is in decent shape.

Definitely a body builder gym. Kind of outdated, but everything was functional. The biggest issue is that the building is falling apart. It leeks when it rains and seems to be impossible to hear or cool with any consistency.

I should have listened to my friends before coming here. I asked my friends where they worked out, and whilst the each had their preferences, almost all of them said to avoid Golds. But I thought I was getting a good deal money wise, so I went ahead and signed up with them. Now I know why they are so cheap... I cant wait to get out of the contract I have with them...The management is lousy, they have no customer service skills. The cardio equipment doesnt work half the time. The facility needs a deep clean - and something to get rid of the smell in the locker rooms. There arent enough weights to go around because people just hog them to BS and gossip rather then actually work out.If google would let me post 0 stars for this place I would.

Started off at PF then went to 24hr Fitness. One life was ok really pricy though. But in all honesty World Gym has given me the best experience. I paid a year membership so i could save some bucks. Also offer military pricing for veterans.

Pretty awesome place, Jason and Seth are great front desks guys. Everyone is always super friendly to me. They have an adequate free weight area, machines, and cardio area.

Its OK got good equipment nice people steam room which is cool but its broken a lot I like that they have a nursery there too I wish they had massage chair for pregnant women to relax after working out cause they cant do the steam rooms Im pregnant now and I so wish they had this or something else to relax after workout

Believe the good reviews of you want but they actual bribe members with smoothies for them. In four months they closed the womens locker room for over two weeks for renovations (but it didnt appear any different) and the air conditioning has been spotty breaking multiple times making it miserable to be inside that place much less workout. And the group exercise room is always HOT. Plus, I specifically asked about extra fees and paid for six months up front when I joined. Then they tried charging me a fee after just four months and acted like I was unreasonable for being mad about being lied to. Oh and equipment breaks regularly, there arent enough weights for some of the group classes, medicine balls are often falling apart...do yourself a favor and just dont.

I went to world gym about 4 months ago with a friend to check out the facilities and equipment. I did a quick workout looked over all the machines and amenities and after the work out went into the office and spoke with Wyatt. He let me know the prices and about there other location. I had told Wyatt that i wanted to wait until the next Friday to make a decision. Then here comes the pushy salesmen Jamie through the door telling me that they can do it for 50 dollars less than what Wyatt quoted me and for additional 3 months. He kept asking how does that sound over and over. I told him it sounds like a good deal but i wanted to wait until Friday to make my decision, he insisted that this is a friends discount and that i need to sign the paperwork to lock it in. I said OK i can do that as long as i can make my decision on Friday. They agreed. When Jamie left Wyatt looks at my and ask if i felt pressured, i told him of course i do did you just hear that guy! Wyatt stated that is how he is. Then taking Jamies word for it i signed the paperwork to lock it in not realizing that i was signing a contract. On Friday i get a email from Wyatt asking if i was coming in. I replied and told him that i had decided not to join. He replied with lol well sorry man you already signed the contract. That is when i sent an email to Trevor clay on friday 9/15 4 days after the confusing office visit, and do not receive a response. So i called Jonas fitness which handles there memberships seeing if there is anything that they can do. They had informed to send a certified letter in to them stating i did not want to join. So i did just that. I then received a phone call from them stating that they cannot cancel the membership due to receiving the letter 5 days after signing paperwork and the cutoff is 3 days. I then preceded to try to get the situation handled locally with Jamie to no avail. This is a terrible way to run a business! Sketchy tactics and even worse customer service!

Great Spacious gym with great customer service and they actually take their time and explain everything very thoroughly. Also very convenient for me because I live pretty close.

The GM Jamie is the only problem with this place. He’s consistently unfriendly and hostile every time I see him. I’ve personally witnessed him scream and yell at his employees making two women cry that work there. Today he yelled at a women playing her own music and being “too loud” while working out. When everyday I witness guys dropping 400 lbs deadlifts waste high and screaming in their workouts. I was on the tread mill close by; she wasn’t bothering anyone. Obviously he’s not a fan of women or customer service. I like the gym but wished this guy would disappear or lay off the roids.

This place made a huge impact in my life. Love this place. Many equipment, friendly people, and not crowded.

THEY ARE LIARS! I specifically asked for a month to month payment and the guy made up a month to month payment and come to find out this place charges taxes and even a decline fee! $25!!!! Who does that? Tried to cancel and couldnt. come to find out that guy had me sign a contract that was never given to me and never sent to my email until asked for. Everyone pays different prices here. Sadly I signed up before knowing they were making a planet fitness not even a mile away. such a mistake signing up here wish I never did!

The equipment is old and stinky, but the upstairs room is sufficient enough for a workout using bodyweight exercises. They definitely do not use the yearly update fee to do any updates.

Scammed like many others. Initially I was told I was on a month to month contract and could cancel at any time. When I tried to leave the gym I was told I owe 600 dollars, and numerous other fees. Contacted every ignorant employee, manager, and customer service representative I could get a hold of, and no one knew anything, or could do anything. Ive read hundreds of reviews, and Im not waiting for these criminals to send collection agencies. Ive contacted Call For Action and other news stations and implored them to help make others aware of the kind of business this is. One person cant stop this from happening in the future, but if there are half as many people who have had a similar experience as Golds Gym reviews indicate, it is far past time they receive a little attention.

Its pretty busy when I go early, around 5-7 but after then its easier to get on and use equipment. About the same price as previous gyms. Clean and quite a bit of equipment for the size.

I have really not been happy with this gym they do not care about there customers. At first I thought all the harsh reviews was people lying but I can tell you they are true. They charge additional fees all the time. the people are nasty when you call about it and try to cancel. I will never suggest this gym to anyone. I feel like this is the worst decision I have ever made in my life do not fall for it. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM
