The apartments themselves are pretty nice. They keep up pretty well with the landscaping etc. Management is terrible! They seriously try to charge you for everything they can. They charged me to replace carpet that was damaged from the previous renters dog. I received the apartment that way all ng with white pet hair all over! I did not have a pet and was very rarely even at my apartment. They charged me for broken blinds that was even in the notes prior to possession. I noticed the carpet the 3rd day I was there and contacted management because I kept stepping on the tack strip poking my foot. Just dot all your Id and cross all your ts. They are dishonest and money hungry. I think ownership pushs it on the management. They also charged me for cleaning after I vacated! I hired a professional cleaner to clean after I left! Crazy! Charged me for a burnt out light bulb, there were 3 burnt out when I moved in! Direct tv comes with the unit free. Somehow I have a $100 bill from dir tv and they state its for a 2nd cable box. I did have a second box in my unit when I moved in, but there was no power cord! It was unusable! Sad really! I received 80$ out of my $500 deposit. They ignore you after you have vacated. Promised twice they would return my call with answers. Now they dont answer at all!

My approval and reservation was done a long time ago but for some reason the new manager thinks she has to help other units move out for 2 weeks before signing off on my lease. I even told them the conditions were the corrections on the lease. I hope this isnt a pattern. The more well educated and quick people are, generally, the better even their quality of life will be. I do not yet know how much Im hurt because of this weird delay on their part, but it also makes me question their honesty. Does the electric company in fact only allow for changes within a month? The main problem is, delays do not allow for alternative options, and no one should be placed in that position, if such delays actually are the norm. How long does a move out or approval take? Do you think the person in my reserved unit number is going to change his mind? I took calculus in high school. I dont understand business practices sometimes? When I visited Europe, just before I graduated college, in Nov 2002, if I had not prepaid and preplanned as much as possible, I would have been gyped, a lot.

My friend lives here and recommended I stay here however, each time I go over there their internet is always off due to “repairing” when it was perfectly fine before. Their daughter can’t get her work done on time because of this problem. Also, my friend said that you guys never have guarantees on when it will turn back on and that it would be off for most of the week. This needs to stop. If you have children who are virtual or use their computers to get work done I wouldn’t consider living here until this issue is resolved.

Good prices for rented service accommodation. Eateries like subway, Dominos, pizza hut, taco Bell, McDonalds within a 15 minute walking radius. Quiet away from main city center, but closer to the airport.Locality is well laid out, with a children park, club house having temperature controlled pools, gym, game room. The property is well maintained, clean, and had no issues during the period of stay. No security though like checks on incoming vehicles or video screening at apartments door.A map showcasing the location of apartment buildings within the layout can help those are looking to welcome visitors or hailing Ubers or first time visitors.

I go back and forth for my rating on my apartment. My husband and I LOVE living here. We have cable, washer and dryers, Google Wifi, a pool, gym, a dog park, and nice hardwood floors in a two bedroom within an easy commute to his job and right off of the highway for me. We are close to a Target, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, QT, and can get pretty much anywhere in 10-15 minutes, downtown being maybe 25 with rarely traffic ever being an issue. My issue was management:Short story long, we were double charged rent from wrong information on their end, from lack of awareness, and were basically told Oh well. We were screwed over, and were tried to be pat on the back like idiots with a $100 visa card which I had to claw for. Then it happened AGAIN the following month, because the balance still had not been removed, which is insane. It happened right when we moved, and no overdraft fees were offered to be paid, no rent was offered to be compensated, nothing. It is a shame, because we are VERY laid back, and I am sad to feel like there is tension between management and I now or that I may be talked about once I leave the office, as I hear them complain about residents sometimes.I am very laid back, and love living here, so I still say this probably wont happen to you, and youll have issues no matter where you rent, just protect yourself, and dont sign up for autopay.

Upon seeing the other reviews, I decided I’d leave my own for Steeplechase apartment community. Where do I start? The boundless amount of space I have for activities in my new apartment is delightful. I could for bunk beds in here if I wanted to. I love the stainless steel appliances, as we all do, but that’s not all, the sink comes readily equipped with the sprayer WITHIN the faucet. Amazing. Let’s talk amenities. The pool is always the perfect temperature and abundant with friendly neighbors, I definitely love the sauna and steam room when I feel like I need to lose a few, ya know? Don’t even get my started on the year around hot tub. One of the best aspects of this community is the splendid people who work in the leasing office. Remember the Cheers theme song? That’s what it feels like! I get a fresh baked cookie everyday passing through, and enjoy wonderful conversation with them, as they are all so friendly. I would live here for the rest of my life, God permitting. 6/5 stars.

(Honest review)I lived here for 18 months and I’m in the process of moving out I had turned my keys in on the 31st and wasn’t able to finish cleaning my apartment they emailed me a few days later saying they have completed the inspection and informed me that I had forgot to pack the dishes from the dish washer! And they are letting me come back to finish cleaning and grab my dishes I think that is super awesome of them! Most complex’s would not do that! So I have hired lending hands to help me clean as it would be cheaper then who they have clean, I had an 18 month lease and overall I enjoyed my apartment parking was one of the only issues the parking is limited unless you wanted to pay extra for reserved spots and guests would always fill up the front parking so sometimes I had to park a building down from where I lived with two under two that wasn’t always easy and my other thing was the halls were always covered in bugs 😩 but honestly there’s really no stopping that because there open halls I just don’t like bugs it was a bummer they didn’t get to open the south pool this year it was right behind my building and has a splash pad,In the winter they take very good care of the sidewalks and parking lot and even the steps! So they don’t freeze over! They get it salted early that was a major plus! They are all electric I really enjoyed thatI didn’t have much issues with noise as I was on the top floor occasionally the kids next door would run through the hall way up and down the stairs but there kids it’s going to happen living in an apartment your going to have to deal with some kind of noiseThe office staff was always kind and helpfulOver all it was a good experienceReasoning for the rating is mainly parking it was always a hassle but a good complex maintenance staff is great to

I’m not one to write reviews (in fact this is my first one). First let me say, the complex itself is very nice. It has plenty of amenities and it’s laid out well. Like many of the reviews noted, it is a little pricey but you get what you pay for right... or do you? Like many of the other residents, the amenities were a factor in our decision to move here (and stay for over 2 years). Recently, the staff has made the decision to close the pool and grill areas due to the CDC recommendations amidst the COVID-19 pandemic (understandably). However, we are now 2 months into this and they are still refusing to allow access to the pool and grill area. The staff has made some attempts to communicate the rationale to the residents, but it’s required relentless prompting from various residents to get any communication on the subject. The staff did note that the pool is “awaiting inspection from the city” before they can open (again understandable if true). But there hasn’t been any reasonable rationale put forth for keeping the outdoor common areas and grills closed. Here is how they addressed the concern (via email)...“It will be more difficult to maintain and police social distancing in these areas. It will also be difficult to keep people out of the pool and hot tub if they are allowed in the general vicinity. It’s too tempting for some!”To be clear, the rationale for keeping the grill and outdoor common areas closed is not apart of the CDC recommendations or extenuating circumstances, it is merely an internal policy. Personal feelings aside, if the common areas are to be closed because the staff feels they find it “more difficult to maintain and police social distancing” and not because of actual CDC recommendations, a portion of the rent should be returned to the residents. As legal adults, is it not our personal responsibility to police ourselves? In short, if you are looking for a nice apartment, this is a great spot, but I certainly wouldn’t let the amenities be a factor in your decision.

When I was first told about this apartment complex, I was drawn in. I went to check it out and it was amazing, so I signed a lease. It’s a beautiful place and I love my apartment, however the staff does not help at all with any issues. For the year that I’ve lived here, I have filed multiple noise complaints and nothing has been done about any of them.(IF YOU WORK NIGHT SHIFT THIS IS NOT THE COMPLEX FOR YOU)People are so disrespectful of their surroundings even if they know your schedule, but they expect you to be quiet at 10pm. I do that courtesy to others but it is never returned when it’s my turn to sleep, and staff doesn’t care/doesn’t make moves to stop the progression. For a young and professional leaser, I have seen how this complex will allow just about anyone live here (for example, the apartment next to me has a beer pong table on their balcony and there is trash everywhere). The only staff that I have seen to be helpful is the maintenance crew. They are amazing and help as soon as they possibly can, and they should be recognized for that.I feel comfortable saying this because I have given my notice that I will NOT be signing another lease, and the noise issue is the main reason for that.Don’t be suckered in by the style and feel of the apartment complex, because you will be disappointed in the end.

If you could personify greedy, this would be the apartment complex. Move-out fees are ridiculous for what meager living conditions youre given. I can hear my neighbors argue and fight every day through the paper thin walls. Huge foundation cracks on buildings on site. Any attempt to get money from you they will try. They have maintenance crew that I see all the time just driving around on glorified golf carts but never doing anything. They uncover the pools and wait two weeks to tell people that they arent open and if people can get in they will be charged extra for disturbing the chemical balance. Ive gotten countless emails about pet clean up and how Ill incur fines for not cleaning up after my pet, but I dont have a pet. The appliances in both the regular and upgraded floor plans are mediocre at best. Water doesnt stay hot for more than maybe 10 minutes? It takes hours to heat my apartment just a couple degrees. Despite the absurd fees upon leaving for cleaning upon starting my lease I found several places where it was very dirty and a large chunk of my kitchen counter broken off. Even during the showing with an office staff, she mentioned how dirty it was and acted like it was a minor inconvenience. How professional and concerned about resident satisfaction. Office staff is quick and eager to help anytime something might cost you but when it comes to fixing something or general questions they know nothing. Ive seen the office staff change several times since I moved in and in my line of work excessive turn over isnt a good thing.

Steeplechase is ran by a corporate company called Bach homes. If youre considering moving in here do your research. They are money hungry and will look to charge you every way they possibly can. Their lack of retention with tenants should tell you something. Everyone I have met in the last year cannot wait to get out and have regretted moving in. The townhouses right next to steeple chase are right in the same price range. Way better management and you get to use the amenities at steeple chase for free. So check it out. My first taste has not been great. I was shocked when signing my lease, all the agreements prior set for the free first month and rent certificates was tossed out last second. There had been emails as well as both these written into the lease issued to sign. I was called the next day to say I could no longer have both, but could have the free month or the rent certificates, but if taking the certs, my rent went up by $200. What a joke! No attempt to remedy, apologize or anything, insane! And I was told now it had to be a 14m lease instead of the 12m we had talked about! BE CAREFUL!!!After being here a bit you notice, the walls are paper thin, the building doesnt insulate well, you can hear convos on the ground floor and other balconies from inside your closed bedroom on the 4th floor. You can hear people going up and down the stairs outside as well as their conversations as they do so. The parking situation is not great as well. Neither is the trash situation. There is one set of dumpsters and a compactor for the whole property. The compactor was overflowing and trash was sitting outside the compactor the other day. The recycling bins are overflowing as well. The staff has been attentive. The gym area is a nice perk, even though all apartments basically have the same thing. The residents I have seen seem to keep to themselves. I doubt I will be renewing next year after the way this year started, It would have to be a whirlwind of a change in course.

Updating my review 9/25. APARTMENT BROKEN INTO BY MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENANCE. Never in my life would I have thought that I would ever have to write a review like this. We were at Steeplechase Apartments for over a year. Our lease was set to end on 9/30. And a final walkthrough was scheduled for 10/1. We have recently been moving items from our current apartment in Steeplechase, to our new place. Yesterday, while attempting to retrieve the rest of our belongings from our home, I discovered that my key was not working. I went to the office and was told that my key should still work... and that I should try it again. I tried again to no avail. I then went back to the office to see why my key was not working. With help from one of the leasing consultants, we were able to access my apartment with the master key they had. I was completely shocked, sad and confused to find that my apartment had been completely emptied by management and maintenance. Craig Ladines, who is the property manager stated that he and his maintenance team had a miscommunication when it came to getting the apartment ready for a 10/1 move in date. Mind you we haven’t moved out and our rent was paid in full for the month. We’ve also kept utilities paid. They violated our lease agreement. Broke into our home. Took our personal belongings. And then changed our lock. All without one word to us. Every thing from electronics to clothes and kitchen supplies. The worst part probably isn’t even the valuable items... That would be the family photos, birthday cards, personal paperwork and bills that we still needed to either move/shred. Nothing has been done to try to locate our items that were taken from us. We will definitely have to pursue all of our options based on what has transpired. There is no way I would recommend this place to anyone. And all measures that are available will be taken to make sure they are held accountable for what they have done to my family.

I’m very happy I made the decision to move out so that I no longer have to deal with all of the bugs in the during the summertime (yet you have to pay for pest control… doesn’t seem to resolve much), elevators constantly breaking down during the wintertime, the extremely thin walls where you can basically hear everything happening next door, and having ONE trash compacter that is typically overflown with trash. The thing that frustrated me the most was moving out with them. I wish I read the reviews before I moved out because it’s true on how they will keep majority of your security deposit. It was by far the worst move-out procedure I’ve ever experienced from an apartment complex to date. No matter how much time you spend cleaning your apartment, they will find even minor things (i.e. forgetting ONE cup in the pantry so they decided to charge $25 for it) to rack up an unimaginable charge that they will take out of your deposit (if you’re fortunate enough to be left with one). You can go to their office to discuss these charges with them, but they are indisputable, and the explanation still don’t match up to the hundreds of dollars that they keep from you. They respond to these negative reviews with the same copy and paste answer apologizing, but nothing will be resolved from this continuous issue of theirs and they will find a way to take as much money away from you as possible. Please be careful.

Should have done more research before moving in. Where do I even start? Lack of parking spaces. Cheap materials... You can literally hear every step a person makes that lives above you. As well as water running through pipes from toilet flushes of neighbors. Then there is the media access fee that you are FORCED to pay, because its part of the rent as the front office likes to say. Not every body wants to be forced to pay for something that they might not even need. And speaking of finances... There will be multiple additional charges monthly that are not explained to you when you sign your lease. Borderline shady business practices to say the least. Cant wait until my lease is up. Might even consider an early buyout after dealing with this for awhile now. You can get a several houses/townhomes with a connected garage for less money that is charged at this place. Just make sure you double and triple check everything in the paperwork. And ask specific questions. I would also recommend viewing the apartments around the time people come home from work. For any future tenants, I would like to suggest not moving here until the construction and overall newness is completely finished. We asked for a 4th floor apartment only after verifying (twice) that the building has an elevator. They answered yes that the building has an elevator. We show up on moving day to find out that the elevator was not working. Ok fine, that stuff happens. So we struggle through moving everything up 4 flights of stairs. Come to find out, the elevator had been broken for 3 months prior to us moving in. They knew it didnt work when we originally asked. When I called and asked them about this issue, they said verbatim, Well the apartment DOES HAVE an elevator, it is just not working right now. Im sorry for the inconvenience, but if you rely heavily on an elevator we encourage you to pick a bottom floor. I was baffled. Can you imagine buying a car and the dealership saying well it has an engine, it just doesnt work? Anyway, the elevator remained broken for a month after we moved in as well. They would not reduce rent or give any type of accommodation whatsoever for it. They said it was part of the construction process. We also found out that even though we are responsible for setting up and paying a KC Power and Light utility bill, there is also a $20 charge for water, sewer, pest control, and trash that is not included in the monthly rent price. So add $20 to whatever they tell you. There have also been multiple financial and clerical errors made that you have to call and correct. Things like charging double for something, or asking me to send in my pets vaccination record 3 different times. Also, on two different occasions I went straight from work to the office to try and take care of some paperwork and they had closed 20 minutes early. Its not a bad place to live, I just want people to be aware of the flaws before pursuing it as a home. They will no doubt approach me on here and apologize/defend themselves, which is fine. But just know that if you move here there will be ongoing issues like this. It seems like they opened before they were ready, and they are lacking integrity in many areas. We have talked to multiple neighbors who have had similar issues throughout their experience as well. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope it helps!

ORIGINAL POST MARCH 2018: Steeplechase customer service was great in the beginning and slowly became unresponsive when we tried to get out of our 13 month contract. We offered to pay a few months rent to get an early buyout but the only option was between 50%-75% all up front on the remaining months! Currently have a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment on the 2nd floor. You hear absolutely everything above you!! It’s a small nightmare being woken up at 6am by someone’s dog shuffling around above you every day of the week. Having white noise machines has helped a little. Dealing with a few power outages in this area isn’t all Steeplechase’s fault of course....But all our food has spoiled because of this on more than one occasion. Parking is hard to find, especially in the evenings. The gym, kids play area, steam room and sauna are nice amenities. However, living in Staley Townhomes provides access to this and at least you get a garage! Please do your research on this property and it’s ownership company prior to renting here.UPDATED POST SEPTEMBER 2018: My home here has been ransacked and I’ve been locked out by management. All this has happened despite paying monthly rent and utilities being in an active lease. We didn’t have the 75% of our rent upfront to pay to get out of this lease so we kept plugging along to keep our credit right and make payments. Nonetheless, management stole and trashed many of my family’s things and somehow finds a way to still sleep at night. Kelly Watson (in house legal counsel for Bach Homes), Shannon Ragsdale (regional manager), Craig Landines (property manager), Jordan Burkholder (leasing agent) and many others that are or have been a part of this disconcerting team should be ashamed of their violations. You are known by the company you keep and even the smallest person in the Bach Homes totem pole should be scared to work here. Karma has its ways and this horrible property and equally awful parent company, Bach Homes, will have their day in court. Run far from this cursed place.

Since they decided to hide my FB review I decided to post it here so they cant tamper with it.I recommend doing your research on the management company Bach Homes before considering this place. THERE IS A REASON THEY are C- with the better business bureau.I dont even know where to begin. I guess Ill start this off by saying, if you are considering moving in here think twice. Do your research! I cant be more thankful I am at the end of my lease here and WILL NOT be renewing it! They will lie to you to get you in the door and it will be a nightmare once your realize how cheaply made your new home is! I have had countless issues with this place and would be happy to share our experience in detail in hopes that you wont make the same mistake we did.I would like the share my most recent and most upsetting issues with Steeplechase Apartments. On Oct 6th we recieved a letter on our door from the office stating that on Monday Oct 9th they would be entering our unit to seal the countertops in the Kitchen/Bathrooms and attaching a brace under the Kitchen sink (no surprise there cheaply made, everything breaks)...Well I immediately called the office letting them know I was not okay with them sealing my countertops knowing the sealant is probably highly toxic and I have a baby under 2 months old that was born 6 weeks prematurely with under developed lungs and poor immune system and a 2 year old. After a few emails and phone conversations of them trying to tell me it HAS to be done before this company leaves on Wed, Oct 11th and me absolutely refusing to allow harmful chemicals around my children (i asked for the name of the product they planned to use and after phone calls to the manufacture of the product and extensive research I found out it is HIGHLY TOXIC and should not be arouns children whatsoever) I receive an Email from the property manager Shannon (I plan to attach screenshots of the emails) stating that since I did not want the sealant put on my countertops to tell them know when i want to reschedule this and that if there are any stains or damage to the countertops I would be charged because I refused to let them put on the sealant...mind you we moved in January 2017 and JUST NOW they are worrying about sealant?! It was confirmed by many maintenance staff members that this would be the first time the countertops are getting sealed. Wondering how their negligence of getting this completed before allowing tenants to move in is my responsibility.Again, if anyone is reading this trying to decide if this is the place for you and thinking about moving in please contact me so i can fill you in on the rest of the Steeple chase DRAMA!!And now we wait for the office staff to respond to this trying to explain their way out of it. And to contact them directly to discuss it further. Which is pointless...The office staff does not care about the well being of their tenants (Dont get me started on the mold growing outside of our door-Major health hazard) all they care about is money! The next few months cant go by quick enough until our lease is up so I can get my family out of this place!UPDATED....They tried to say the mold is mildew and act like i havent called a few times to report it. They wonder why occupancy is so low...This is why!HERE TO THEM NOT GIVING ME MY DEPOSIT BACK!

Beautiful new place and has excellent facilities. Nicely secluded in northeast Kansas City yet near major highways to get where you need to go and plenty of shopping nearby. Only issue I have is that one of the main selling points for me, especially in choosing a 4th floor apartment was that there are elevators in their buildings. I moved in over a month ago and the elevators were not ready. A month later, still no elevators. A few little construction issues probably from rushed construction due to trying to get units filled. Also as with most new and existing remodeled complexes the business model is a competitive market rate for rent but there is also a lot of nickel and dimeing for extras. Comes with DirectTV but the only good thing DirectTV is for is NFL Direct TV which is free this year at least, but it will cost you extra for HD Channels (which makes no sense at all) and DVR. All that aside, the management office has a personable staff, and many wonderful amenities. All in all I would recommend this place.

I currently live here, and I feel like im being harassed, my neighbors complin if a penny drops and the office doesnt investigate they just take their word over mine....... any little thing im getting an email about and I paid my rent up for 5 months, I will never live here once my lease is up next year...... top quality my ass!!! If I could do less than one star I would, they really need to get it together ASAP!
