National car rental was terrific. The pickup (my choice of cars) was smooth and the drop-off went great, about 5 minutes.

I only ever rent from National. They never disappoint. We rented on the island of Maui, drove the Road to Hana, the Haleakala National Park, and 599 miles on an island that measures 29 by 32 miles wide in the week we were there. The car performed beautifully. The people who helped us at the airport on both ends were friendly, helpful, and professional...all reasons I will only and always rent from National and no other rental car company. I recently became an Emerald member, (offered through my company). I have also have never used National before. We travel as a family a lot, as my wife works for a major airline, so we like to go back to businesses that treat us right, as well as provide decent-to-excellent products and services. When we booked for Maui, due to COVID, we booked 3 different companies. We decided to go with the best price, this was National Car Rental! We have never had such excellent service with a car rental. It was smooth, fast(zero waiting time) and totally problem free. All our expectations were obliterated! Plus, as an emerald member I was provided a little more convenience and assurance. Made us feel like VIPs.

Emerald isle was very convenient, as usual. Great selection of vehicles, including large SUVs which is what we needed. The staff in car returns was very helpful in locating a wallet that was left behind in the rental.

When checking the car out at the OGG airport in Maui, the attendant was going to charge me double of what the reservation said on the app. The manager quickly came over to adjust the price per the quote on the app without any questions. Great customer service!!

Got my car within minutes of arriving at the rental car center. Lots of choices. Car was very clean. Checkout from the center was very quick. There was a lot advertisement about their Clorox partnership and how clean the vehicles were. I guess my expectation was that the vehicles would be spotless, like new. Hanging a checklist from the mirror and leaving two packaged wipes on the console just didn’t do it for me. It smelled a bit stale inside and the back seat area definitely could have been cleaned better. It appeared as if the previous renter had kids or a dog and that much more could have been done. Even if it were non-pandemic times, the cleanliness would have been an issue for me.

I had three reservations but unfortunately was not allowed to pay for my childrens rentals. The staff was pleasant but it did take a while for the transactions to be completed. Checkout was very easy.

Super easy, minimal interaction with people. Getting and returning the car is as fast as it gets when it comes to rental.

The service at National on Maui was fantastic! We were able to obtain the vehicle very quickly. The car was very clean and ready to go. Returning the car was a breeze and we couldnt be more pleased with the whole experience.

Less one star because the Nissan Armada we got thru Emerald, executive aisle died on us twice so we end up getting stuck 1-2 hours waiting for someone to jump it. 1st Roadside assistance was seamless and full of info. 2nd roadside assistance however is inexperienced and didnt leave enough information to a branch location. They were kind enough to drive us back to where we left the rental .The exchange to Ford Expedition made excellent because of JOSEPH who helped us from checking in to taking care of our problem. I didnt have to talk to the manager because he was knowledgeable and kind. They deducted 2 days worth because of the inconvenience. 5 stars customer service at National rental, OGG.

I generally try to go with National car rental when renting cars. I enjoy their emerald club experience of being able to select my own car and drive out quickly. Last week in Hawaii, there was a large shortage of cars available in Maui. National did a great job of trying to get cars cleaned and serviced as they came in to get people on the road as quickly as possible.

Super fast and easy, both picking up and dropping off the car. Reasonable rate as well. Very pleased with the whole experience.

Maui is experiencing over crowding and car rental companies are struggling to keep up. I was happy our reservation at National went smooth without any issues and we got the vehicle we reserved.

Karly was absolutely amazing at helping us with our reservation. I have never meet anyone as knowledgeable and personable as Karly in the rental industry. The other associates on the floor were also very helpful. However, Karly performed above my expectations. If I owned a car rental, I would hope to hire employees like Karly. This has truly been a Christmas miracle. I hope to continue to get this level of service from National in the future.

I rented a car as an emerald club member. It was so easy. Apply for the rental online, pick out the car you want from the emerald aisle at the airport. Stop and check out for a minute or two before exiting the rental lot and drive to the return lane when done. No waiting in long lines, excellent!!!

Just returned from a Maui vacation. Most visitors were panicking about car rentals. I had reserved a 6 passenger van with National and the whole process could not have gone any better. When we arrived, the vehicle was ready and we didn’t have to wait in any line. As an Emerald club member, I just walked to the lot, picked a vehicle, and went on my way. I definitely recommend National car rental.

I dont know why youd rent from any other agency.... or through any other service. Using Nationals app allows me to walk off the plane and right into the rental lot to pick-up a car and skip the line. The vehicles are always in great and clean condition, the staff is always excellent.

The process was very smooth and the gentleman that helped us on the return, was great. He even helped us unload and got us a luggage cart.

We rented in Maui and it was easy in and easy out. Service dropping off the car was great.

I recently rented a car from National at OGG in Maui. When we picked up the car from the airport, we realized a few hours later there were ants all over... they were coming out of the vents, crawling in the cup holders etc.. it was gross. We tried to swap out the car for another rental and one of the in town locations and they were booked up but the assistant manager there (I think his name was Ryan?) took such great care of us! Even though they could trade the car he took the time to grab some disinfectant and spray down everything and managed to kill most of the ants, which made me feel better. When we returned the car, the return agent (bough? I think his name was) greeted us so enthusiasticly, gave us his name, asked us how our trip was. We told him about the ants and he was so apologetic and asked what he could do to make it right. I appreciated this so much as most places wouldnt even offer any resolution! He gave us a discount and verified that with taking care of us we would be happy and that follow up is what everyone needs in customer service. That level of service is why I will always use National. Even though we had a super gross problem they were able to remedy the situation and make me feel so much better. 10/10 guys!!

Easy rent and return, but would have been happier if someone showed me how to open the tailgate on a small SUV. Couldnt find the the info in the instruction manual. Had to look at a youtube video to find the release in the taillight area, not in the tailgate intself.

Great customer service and a very smooth rental experience. We had a great return with Kimo.The reason Im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the Executive Aisle just had normal full-size cars. It was full and we were there before the holiday rush, so I would have expected a few more interesting options.

Everything went fine, even though they were short on cars, I received a very appropriate car.

Not the best experience, got a car that seems to have issues with the accelerator but worse than that is that while driving on the highway the cars starts beeping and a warning pops up that says malfunction and am icon as if we had been in an accident and to make matters even worse, I cannot get in touch with the location directly. Spoke to the national call center they said they sent them a message asking them to reach out to me BUT still havent heard anything. Feels very unsafe to drive and no help from them.*responded via email*

This was a zero hassle rental. My rate came with additional drivers which was nice for our family trip. We had a nice selection of minivans to choose from and got out of the rental lot in about 5 min. Also my rate allowed to return the car not full and they charged 3.20 per gallon which I thought was reasonable and convenient.

Great experience with National in Hawaii. Simple reservation process on the app, great car selection and fair price (compare to what I paid in NYC, what a steal.) One of tires on my wrangler had a slightly higher pressure, not a big deal. When I returned the car and mentioned this, the staff (Kimo) apologized and offered discount for next rental. Really wasnt expecting that! It did take 2 days for the system to process my car return in the end, but overall good experience!

Ended up being charged $190 more for my reservation than I was quoted at booking. Getting a straight answer from customer service has been impossible. A shame as I really like the Emerald Aisle experience.

Experience was ok. Could have been better as I am an executive member and there was not much selection or choices available. It was the exact same cars on the emerald aisle vs executive section. Was quite disappointed on that ! No efforts were made upon suggestions of other cars!

Very poor experience. After landing at OGG, we had booked the executive aisle, but we wanted a Jeep and we were willing to pay for it. We were told by one individual that they were all sold out. I don’t know if it was because we are gay or what, but it was a lie. I booked a new reservation and found another employee and said they had plenty of Jeep’s and it wasn’t an issue at all. We of course paid an extra hundred which we were okay paying. It was the worst customer service for executive level customer ever.

Arrived for our reservation December 26th - NO CARS!!! We made the reservation in June. Why make a reservation if it is not going to be honored? Family trip, we reserved a van. We waited 30 minutes with no explanation from staff. Finally two small cars showed up from the wash. They tried to put our family in two small clown cars instead of a van. After an hour of waiting and no explanations they “found” a 20 passenger sprinter van for us to use for one day but wanted it returned the next day. We were staying over an hour away from the airport. Bad experience, Bad business. Upon return, staff was still unopologetic but offered $50 credit towards bill, thus the one star or else it would have been zero.

Always no-hassle experience with National Car. Easy check-in /check-out, pretty quick process and more importantly no unexpected fees added to your bill when you arrive there.Sincerely.

National Car Rental is our provider of choice when we travel. We spend 3-4 weeks in Maui every year. On these trips we have periodically tried other providers, focussing more on cost than quality of service. Never again. Three years ago at the Maui airport, using one of the less expensive alternatives, after our arrival, we had to wait over 1 hour in a line at the providers rental centre waiting to be served. Then we waited another 45 minutes before the car that was assigned to us was brought forward for us to load our luggage and drive away. This was after a 5 hour flight.The service model at National is so much better! After leaving the plane and picking up our luggage, we go the the National location, but do not have to stand in line and register. We simply go to the garage, a National rep checks our reservation, then we are taken to the area where their available cars are, and we have the choice of which one we will use. The National rep always helps us load our luggage. So we are on the road to the place we are staying in about 10 - 15 mutes after arriving at the National station. Superb service!!

Lot is small, so you are in and out after picking the car. All of the staff was friendly and car selection on the executive had a nice range of models.

I recently rented in Maui for the first time. Their were plenty of car options available and the seven passenger SUV suited our needs. As always, pick up and drop off ways quick and seamless. Loved working with National in Kahului! Got dropped off by the Shuttle Bus and promptly walked to the lot and was greeted by a rep that directed us to the area that we got to choose are car from. And Then quickly got checked out and we were on our way! No lines what so ever!

The rental process was very easy and the people were very friendly during our rental experience in Kahalui, HI. Each employee took time to engage with us by name, provide their name and perosnilze the experience. Definitely will be using them again.

Pick up and drop off were very easy. The billing was the same as what I expected from my online reservation quote. Staff was friendly and helpful. We rented from the Maui location and the Big Island location over two weeks. On Maui, everything was wonderful - no problems. On the Big Island - Everything was great except that the vehicle was a bit dirty on the inside. We had to stop and buy some wipes to clean off the windows, inside panels, and handles of the minivan. It looked like the previous users had at least a couple small children and left dirty smears and prints in various places - which was a bit gross. The vehicle itself was very nice though. We enjoyed it and had no problems once we sanitized it a bit.

National is always easy to rent from and the rates are reasonable.

I will definitely use them again. I canceled two prior reservations with Hertz and Costco as I received the absolute BEST price from National. I saved a total of almost $175 in total. Weve always had a great experience at the Maui Airport location of National. Were Executive Aisle members, and usually we can pick up a small to medium size SUV as one of our options. With the new rental car center, service is quick, fast and efficient. You can take the new trolley train shuttle, or if you prefer to not be trapped in a train compartment with 100 tourists, you can walk about 1/4 of a mile from the baggage claim and enjoy the fresh air while you pick up your wheels.

We recently had to rent an SUV while we stayed on the Hawaiian Island of Maui. We had excellent service picking up and dropping off of GMC, Acadia SUV. The car ran well, did not eat too much gas and was fun to drive. Everything went well and the rental fee was very fair and reasonable. National has terrific cars and terrific service. I highly recommend National Car Rental.

Poor Selection for Emerald members, Check out took 20 minutes, When All your supposed to do is go straight to your car and Drive out, only showing you ID at the Gate. Car was Dirty, Radio Mal functioned.No Power, Nissan Rouge is the worst car EVER

The pick up and return was very easy. I got almost new vehicle. Even more, I got class higher vehicle for same price. Also I had a chance to chose between few available vehicles, what is way better experience then getting key in the office and realize you got something you don`t really like.Next time I`ll rent from National!

I was walked to the car by the National employee. He loaded our luggage into the vehicle. On returning the vehicle, the staff was outstanding. I spent about 1.5 minutes returning the vehicle. The price was by far the best of any major car rental firm.

I was happy with the customer service throughout my rental period, but very surprised to see the price comparison that others in my travel group found... I paid around $500 for a vehicle for 8 days and others paid around $200. This price difference will make me skeptical about using National in the future. I even had a corporate rate that saved me some money.

I was very impressed with the Kahului Maui location.New tram from arrivals is very efficient.Kapuno at the front desk was very helpful when I called in prior to arrival to correct a mistake I had made. Really appreciated his excellent service.Van was in great condition and very clean upon arrival.Drop off was very smooth and attendant who did final inspection exceptionally friendly. I appreciated how she asked me how the rental went and was there anything that could have been improved.I will definitely use National again.

I rented a Jeep ahead of time and National agent picked out the best and newest one they had and pulled it up for us and helped load bags and show us how everything works. I recently rented a car in Maui. The service I got was exceptional. I arrived in the pouring rain (rare but true for Maui) - it was also very windy. Standing in the parking lot I was greeted by a welcome agent to help me get to my car. She made some quick decisions, on the spot, and within seconds I was out of the wind and rain and in a wonderful SUV - my car of choice. I have rented from National for many years and have no horror stories like some of our other friends when renting in Maui.
