This is a scam. I paid for a car in advance. I wasn’t informed about any extra charges. I came to pick up car and was asked for extra 342$ which wasn’t returned to me. This really changed my mood for vacation I was about to start!
The car was fine but we lost our key inside it, the car system was automatically locked. We have been on the phone for more than an hour calling to the number for road assistance- that we paid- and we have no answer. Two persons have answered but passed hour call to the “right extension”.I don’t know why you guys provide a number for road emergency that there is no answer nor quick response. You have no service for that.It was more than 4,30pm and we called “Pop a lock” and after 35 minutes and 100 US dollar they solved the emergency.
Did you reserve the car from Dollar Rental Car company? Good luck for that. This rental car company isnt customer oriented service. You have take a photo for all documents and car before you take out.. here is my story.I pick up a car around 10AM, and find out the second row windows problem at 1pm. I return the car and pick up another car around 4pm. The counter tells me I can return by 5 pm on the date I support to return. I return the car around 3pm on the date. Two days later, Dollar rental car company charges me $221.85 for extra day rent. It is very difficult to contact on the phone and they dont response my email well.
I also wanted to make a special shout out to sale associate Nalani. I had a lot of difficulty with my car rental booking, and she was able to provide assistance with care and kindness. She took extra steps to see that my needs were taken care of and she had an amazing attitude throughout. I would have never gotten to see road to Hana safely without her. Thank you Nalani and dollar rental!
Do NOT use this company they advertise their super low rates and then hit you with $306 extra “pick up fees” and then they do it again for another $306 “drop off fees and taxes” I was told by multiple people at pick up that unless there was damage to the vehicle I wouldnt be charged again and when I dropped the vehicle off the lady told me I was fine and within the hour I received a receipt that they charged my card again for drop off fees and taxes. When I picked the vehicle up originally the lady tried to argue with me and bully me into buying extra insurance policies for liability on top of the damage insurance I had already purchased saying that my car insurance company was wrong in telling me that they covered my driving a rental. I am very familiar with my policy and most policies in knowing that you are covered under any vehicle you drive. This company is slimy and has shady business practices.
We booked and prepaid our rental car 4 months before our trip through Expedia. We were really worried it may not be honored because of the car rental shortage in Hawaii, but we had no problem even the busy Memorial Day Weekend ! Our car was there waiting for us to pick up. I asked the associate if they had to turn people away on that day, and they said only people who walked in with no reservations. Checkin in was very smooth. The car had a bunch of scratches but it looks like they all do here, probably because most people head to the very narrow Road to Hana. Just make sure you fill out the car report before leaving the rental lot to make sure those dont get charged to you and you will be good.
This agency is a total rip off, avoid at all cost. The car we rented had a flat tire in Hana and dollar let us know we were on our own. No help what so ever. We were charged $939 to get the car back to the airport. Dollar would not reimburse one dime. I turned the car in 2 days early and got the same results. Horrible agency, stay away.
Fast to get your paperwork in order, walk around the corner into garage and hop in a car. Love the efficient setup they have.
5 stars just for Nalani who is a total sweetheart. We had an issue with some charges and she fixed them right away no problem and we didnt have to wait in the long line. Super helpful and super nice!
We showed up and waited in line for an hour- had a reservation and then were told there were no cars. Not much we can do except wait in the parking lot and hope someone returns one! Great start to the vacation . Dollar never again.
Returned my car after 10 of 20 days were used and they were to refund a pro rated amount. Instead they charged Expedia the full contact amount and played dumb while wasting hours of my time. I love how all of corporate America acts powerless to even be remotely fair.
These people absolutely scam you. If they offer you an “upgrade,” do not accept. It was my friend’s birthday, and the woman at the counter said “oh happy birthday, let me upgrade you!” This was not out of kindness or as a favor as we were led to believe- she billed us an extra $400. I also requested the most basic insurance on the vehicle and they put premium road side assistance on for every day of the rental. I never asked for this. They hand you a stapled together wad of receipts and papers at the end that no one could possibly have time to review- particularly with a huge line of people waiting behind you. Ultimately, I was charged an additional $1,200 beyond the $1000 that I spent reserving the vehicle on Priceline.com. They are absolute scammers. I will never utilize this service again. Lesson learned.
Customer service was not great. I left an item in the car and was very polite on the phone and the employee hung up on me. Then I showed up in person and asked if I could go look for my item in the car and they wouldn’t let me. I had already filed a lost and found report but they still wouldn’t allow me to look for my item before the car got rented out.
Short and straight to the point their customer service is horrible. Multiple employees were rude and didnt want to help with us with a missing item. Wouldnt even let us look ourselves. It felt like they didnt want to help so they could keep what we forgot.
I did rent the car for less than 2 days and I drove las then 20 milesThey supposed to charge me less because I return the car Earlier but not it supposed be be 88 dollar and they are charging me almost 600 hundred they lye everything, I do no recommend dollar they will steal you
Watch out for this place they like to scam thier customers I purchased a full size car through my hotel royal Lahaina Resort at $480.00 got to the counter and was asked if I wanted to upgrade enough tho I had called and asked to up grade two weeks prior to my arrival women at counter said the $480.00 was only to hold the vehicle it was a total of $832.00 and asked about the $480.00 I had already paid for she said it would come off at the end well that didnt happen dollar rent a car kept the $480.00 ontop of the $832.00 they are clearing price gouging beware of this place its a scam asked to speak to manager she said she was the manager same on you dollar rent car.
Had over $200 dollars in hidden fees when I was projected to pay just $125.Go to a more expensive dealer that won’t hide fees.
Terrible service don’t use dollar rentals or any of its affiliates/ rude service and unauthorized charges renter beware
This is the single worst car rental experience I have ever had. I wish I could give them less than one star. There were at least 150 people in line, all kiosks were out of order, way understaffed for a holiday weekend. Most of tge staff that were there had zero desire make anything move quickly. Total time spent there was 2hours. Horribly managed, this will be my last rental from dollar.
The people working there, will not help you with any issue you run into.
Maui dollar rental car. Terrible customer service and management . They are very ignorant about different types of drivers license. They didn’t accept my HAWAIIAN driver’s license. They don’t make any effort to help you at all.
WARNING! Do not drop your rental off at the location the GPS takes you to. This is the old location. According to the girl who checked us out, this happens all the time. There were quite a few of us turning around. Drop your car off at the terminal. Follow the signs. Overall, we had an excellent experience. Customer service was spectacular. Highly recommend renting a Jeep. Thanks Dollar!
Extremely slow. There weren’t even that many people in front of us.
Great deal with good service
Fast and courteous service! We were the first and only ones in line. Offered a free upgrade from mid missed to standard. Kia Optima was new, clean and greatWas able to pick from the lot and everything was easy on the return.
They advertised a Managers Special that gave me an upmarket vehicle at a far less expensive price. Turned out to be a New 2019 Chrysler Town & Country van. It was a very nice, nearly new, very clean, fully equipt family van. Great value for the price.
The shuttle is super efficient and the drivers kind. The water they gave us at our arrival was priceless. The staff fast, professional and helpful in every way possible. The cars good and very fuel efficient, and since the gas price in Hawaii is so high it was a good surprise.
Excellent service here. Too many negative reviews had me worried about renting from here last week. Everything went smoothly from checking in to checking out. Sure there was a little wait upon arrival -about 30 minutes or so but it was well worth the savings rather than paying hertz or enterprise 50% more. Try to book their lock low and go rates usually offered on their website only. I highly recommend this place and thank you to the staff for the pleasant experience.
I had been nervous about using dollar after seeing many extreme negative reviews online, especially about multi hour wait times. You had the best price by a fair bit, so we decided to risk it. Perhaps at different times things are different, but our experience was seamless. We pre-signed up for the Dollar Express program. Walked in, served almost immediately, and were quickly sent to our car, which at no extra cost was larger than booked. No one pushed additional options on us. Car was a bit worn, but fine. Return was quick and easy, no extra charges, just in and out.
A lot of hidden fees once you actually pick up the vehicle(paid ~$230 online and then ~$468 at the desk but Im also under 25) . They even charge you a significant amount just to use a credit card. The people at the front desk try to move very quickly and try to scam you into getting other stuff. Beware. Return was easy though so that was nice.
Convenient 5 min Train Ride From The Baggage Claim Exit To Dollar Rent A Car Office. Short Wait For Check In. Rentals Are Around The Corner. SUV Was Clean, Has 4 Tires And Windows.
Service was extremely fast and took under 5 minutes. They made sure we were fully insured and did not force any of their own options upon us. We got the vehicle we asked for and it was extremely clean and was also comfortable. Definitely would recommend
Overall, the vehicle provided was great. I was not happy that the agent at the airport confirmed the total amount for the rental, provided me with a receipt for that amount, then I received an email from my bank advising me that I had been charged $200 over the amount on my receipt. Upon calling Dollar they told me it was a deposit. At no time did the Dollar agent even mention that there was a $200 deposit involved.
Pretty seamless operation. After grabbing your luggage, take your designated shuttle to the car rental building, wait in line and receive your vehicle. I made a reservation beforehand. Unfortunately they did not have the SUV class I asked for, so I opted not to wait and went with a sedan. Returning was what youd expect—drop off, take shuttle to terminal. Nothing special except for the roosters and hens.
Im from California and visited Maui, Hawaii and booked with Hertz car rental company prior tp my trip. Upon arriving in Maui and checking in to pick up my rental I wad informed that because I did not have a major credit card they needed tp run my credit, and my credit isnt the greatest... they ended up declining to rent me the car and told me to try one of the other companies. I checked with them and they required the same. Then I walked in to Dollar Rent a car and they were able to rent me a car with no prior booking and no major credit card. Saved my vacation.
Was sceptical at first reading all those reviews, but I never received such an amazing service. Car was clean, less than 10k miles and on time. I didnt feel pushed to buy any kind of insurance or to upgrade. Return took less than 2 minutes and they are very easy going and honest on littles scratches Dont let them discourage you, youll miss out on great fares :)
You get what you pay for which I knew but it was over half the price of others so I booked it. Car was amazing super clean and brand new! Check in was meh the desk worker was rude and worst of all the shuttle took 30 minutes to come unlike every other companies 5-10 min. I asked the worker are you sure it’s coming her reply was “ Yes, I told you already wait in the back it’ll be there.” Eventually it came and driver was friendly and dropping car off was really easy but they always want to add a $30 fee a day for additional drivers.
I had a business account with Dollar until I rented from the Kahului Maui location. Absolutely the worst rental experience ever. And Dollar did not respond to my concerns. I give Dollar 1- star because their is nothing smaller. Goodbye Dollar, Thrifty, and Hertz (All the same company)! Forever! Pass the word review readers! Rent from Alamo and Enterprise.
Plane landed at 8:30pm. Didn’t get to Dollar until about 9:30 (lost luggage😣), and we had no wait time. They were super chill. If you need a rental car just do yourself a favor and get there SUPER early or an hour or two before they close.
4 stars for quality, 5 stars for people, 4.5 stars for value. Shuttle bus a bit on the old (and noisy side), but the air on worked well enough, and the drivers were very courteous and helpful. Desk staff also very courteous and efficient...which is good, since there was only one.Vehicle was nice (Ford Expedition), but dated and minimal on options. Check in is one vehicle at a time, at the entrance gate instead of multiple lanes with multiple staff members (a la Hertz). The OGG location had lots of convertible Camaros (even saw an SS), and lots of Jeep Wranglers.Still quite satisfied, and could easily be 5 stars if they reinvested in the aforementioned gaps.
The Agent disappeared for 10+ minutes saying shed be right back. It was like she had to get approval for a different car because the model we ordered wasnt available.
Definitely compare rates online wit Priceline and they will bring down the price to match. Got in quick and got out quickly. No fuss about pushing us to purchase extra insurance package. Upgraded us to bigger van available without charging extra. Got shuttles to and from airport every few minutes.
DO NOT add the prepaid fuel. They say it is a way to insure youre set with fuel costs because the lack of gas stations near the airport. But this is not accurate! Also I returned my car with a full tank and was still charged! However the checkin process was short and staff was kind aside from being misleading.
Arrived pretty late flight and was able to get a great car, the car is well taken care of. We first bought a full tank but we got in the car and had barely 1/3 so when we returned it 4 days later, we asked about it and received the money back. Thank you and good bus transportation. No complaints, long lines but thats expected with Hawaii
Great experience. Fast, easy, and reasonably priced. Michael provided great customer service and had smile the whole time! Thanks dollar! Definitely coming back!
Two stars because the counter service was fast and great but they over charged me for things I didnt ask for. I called customer service and got hung up on twice. They transferred me to the payroll team but every time I got disconnected because theres no God damn payroll division... What a joke
My experience was fantastic. Your assistants were extremely helpful helping me decide on a different model for the rental. The rental went great and I am now a new Dollar Renter.Thank you very much.Larry Ross
So terrible!! They lied to our faces and then over charged for things we told them we do not want. When we went in to dispute the charges we heard another sales person doing the same thing to us to another couple there and we warned them - the sales clerk was so upset he got caught lying to them and stumbled all over his words when confronted - that couple ended up leaving. Wish somebody had done that for us! Dont go here - even if this prices seem good just know they are trained to lie and overcharge.
Nice person who checked us in but otherwise Th experience has been terrible. Spent 20 minutes in line to check in and we were only the 3rd person in line. After an hour and a half we got our car. If you value your time in paradise look elsewhere.
Was very stressed after reading the reviews here, but getting our rental was a breeze. Shuttle came fast, no line and the car we reserved was available. Same for drop off, as fast as you could ever imagine.
Quick check in. Best pricing we found using Chase Ultimate Rewards. We thankfully got a Ford Expedition for hauling all our 4 month olds gear around for the week. Return was super easy as well.
Friendly shuttle drivers, got a great deal on an suv. It was pretty rough going back to my old car after driving the Ford explorer! Returning the car was absolutely painless, took less than 5 minutes including hopping on the shuttle. I would definitely use them again if Im lucky enough to go back to Maui!
Soft spoken slightly balding Filipino salesman at the counter refers to the LDW as basic insurance when he pitches the upgrade to customers. Im not sure if this is Dollar policy, but its misleading. Its actually an additional $37.99 a day and completely optional because your cc and personal auto policy makes additional insurance duplicative. Listen to the salesmans words carefully, and ask for your grand total or you may be charged unknowingly for insurance you arent aware of. I saw the poor saps In front of me agree to the so called basic coverage without thinking twice. Salesman pushed hard to sell me the overpriced LDW, despite knowing I am a local resident. He even assumed I have a $500 deductable on my auto policy without asking. I am glad Im not a rental car agent. Selling people full tanks of gas when there are 3 or 4 gas stations including a Costco station within 2 miles of the airport is dirty work brah.
Got a great discounted rate. No problems with the rental company. We paid for gas up front. It was way more than Costco. The car was a piece of junk that was falling apart. Lots of scratches and panels were starting to detach.
Pretty disappointed with the wait. Had a car reserved, waited for over 2 hours to get it because they had no cars anyone. Car was fine once we received it though
Easy to check in and return to airport was a breeze and was back at airport in 5 minutes. Car was clean and reliable Nissan.Looking at other reviews here I have to say that it is like most car rental shops where they offer their services for fuel and insurance which is very costly- you need to be prepared for renting a car anywhere you go.
It was not my first time with Dollar rent and Im satisfied as always. Great service and very helpful team
Dollar/OGG AirportCar Rental Agent-5 Stars, Laura was courteous. She explained $200 incidental hold and optional coverage and extras and directed us to the vehicle and informed us of benefits of being Express memeber. She had superb customer service.Car- 1 Star.We reserved a Compact Car and was informed we could pick any car in a Compact slot. Of the 4 available Compact cars, all of them had some type of dents or scratches with one or two stains stains on the interior seats so we just picked one with less dents. Well half way into Lahaina, we started hearing noises, thinking oh no this car is about to stop on us, we pulled over and the front bumper was hanging,my husband pushed it back in the brackets and it stopped. Traffic was too bad to turn around and try another car. We ended up pulling over and pushing bumper back up daily. We should have returned car but I still wouldnt have given them over 2 stars due to any of the cars being clean on the interior/exterior. Our car had about 35000 miles on it.Tip:I would rent from them again but we would inspect car more thoroughly and look under the hood. I think this is an island problem because we have never had this problem in other states. Any rental company you rent from in Hawaii inspect thoroughly. Check and make sure bumpers are fully attached and not rigged. We saw a lot of other rentals in same condition and a lot of good ones as well.
Very affordable. Cars are in excellent condition. They refund your $50 when you bring back the car undamaged, full tank of gas and clean.
Customer service was terrible. Car was dirty when we got it and they really didnt seem to care about the customer. This was the only place that we ran into with such unhappy employees in Maui. Sorry but I will use Enterprise next time they cost more but they show excellent customer service and they are much faster getting a rental.
Telecomunicaciones are basically robot people who just repeat a script. They try and steal as much money from you as possible. Adding a star because the people on the desk were helpful. Expect the call centre to ruin your day and mood.
I just returned the car and I’m really satisfied with time, price and customer manner.
Treated fairly. Most agents very friendly. Didnt really need the upgrade as the people we were to and haul around rented their own car. I just wait too long to tell Dollar.Suggest the Return Agent have a sign on bottom of his computer telling you not to turn off the car. I thought I was being courteous turning it off so we could all hear. He was a little curt when he told me to start the car.I would come back to Dollar.
Took over an hour to check in and get my vehicle. No one was in a rush to do anything. Prepaid online so thought I should only have a small fee because I told them they could fill up the tank in case I couldnt find a gas station. I had over half a tank at drop off. They charged my card 120. 06. Told me its a $75.00 fee plus taxes. That it should have been 130 some but they only charged me 120.06. Lucky me! What a joke. Beware!!
Rented a car here on the 26th of aug, the process was fine. The problem is i stated i have full insurance and didnt need theres, i was told there would be a hold on my account, which was fine. I return the car and im charged 300 plus dollars for a waiver i didnt ask for. I called them and they said they cant help me, i asked for corporates phone number and all it is, is a instant bussy tone when dialing!!!! So over this never rent from dollar!!!
Do not trust this company they tell you adding the extra driver is free if within their age guideline of being over 21 make you sign a A4 sheet then when you ask they send you a fraudulent form with your signature and a $ 75.00 bill and we know its dubbed at the the top of the signature being cut off in the form heading to bank for a claim of fraud .....pity I cant put a copy up this is their additional driver policyD. Additional Authorized Drivers and Fees: All additional authorized drivers are required to qualify to drive the vehicle. To qualify, DOLLAR requires all additional drivers, including spouses, to satisfy our minimum age requirements, have a valid driver’s license and pay an additional driver fee. However, the following additional drivers do not need to pay an additional driver fee or separately qualify as long as they meet our minimum age requirements and have a valid drivers license
My daughter and her fiancé went on their honeymoon in Maui, prepaid for a rental car, and then was scammed into being charged $699 for insurance for 6 days! Really?! They are both fully insured already!!! What a rip-off! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
We had a great experience renting car from Thrifty. Only inconvenience was when we returned vehicle, staff wanted to charge us extra hour fee but it was removed after we spoken to the management. Car was clean and new as described online. Lines can get long but we were lucky with tree people in front of us.
We made a reservation online and when we arrived we had to wait in line for over an HOUR before we were able to speak to someone about our car. After we paid, gave them our information, etc. we had to wait ANOTHER HOUR before we actually got our car. Horrible customer service!! Why not have us give all our information online (address, insurance company, etc.) and then just have us quickly sign and be on our way when we arrive? They clearly did not have enough staff on hand to handle the customers coming in which is unacceptable. They knew when we all would be arriving so our car should have been ready to go. Very disappointed.
Pretty good experience with renting a Jeep in Maui. Service was good, processing was quick, and there werent any unexpected charges. Plus, the vehicle I was given was red in color, sort of unusual for a rented car, which was awesome!
Been waiting over an hour.... And we are only a little under half way through the line. Why make a reservation if I have to wait longer than those that dont have one!!!! Way to start our Hawaii vacation off to a good start..... Never choosing dollar rental again.
This place is TERRIBLE! Do NOT go here if you are trying to get a good deal. They gave mid a mid-sized gas-guzzler when I had reserved an economy car (because gas is more than a dollar higher in Hawaii, and we road trip daily). They provided the mid-size car after trying for ten minutes to talk us into a Mustang Convertible, reducing the price every few minutes, but keeping it well above the price we were quoted online for an economy car. We kept repeating We want an ECONOMY CAR, not a Mustang!... but they kept trying to pressure us into a Mustang. It was insane, and we were exhausted because of a cancelled flight. And if that wasnt bad enough, when we got to the hotel, we realized that they had given us the car with only 3/4 of a tank of gas. We called the dollar rental number, only to reach someone on the mainland.... she was unable to resolve the problem saying the manager wont work it out for you, sorry... you should have told them the gas tank was not full as soon as you got into the car. Then, as we left to turn the car back in, they delayed us in getting to our flight because they didnt have enough workers checking the cars back in! I will NEVER use dollar rental again... ESPECIALLY with this airport branch. What a horrible way to start our vacation.
No problems checking in or returning the car. Friendly Considerate service. Ill use them again on our next trip to Maui
I left my purse in the car after I returned the car. The manager drove a car to the airport to delivery it to me. Great service
If you want to spend your first day on Maui waiting for a car, this is the place. It took an hour just to get to the rental place from the airport because the every 5 minutes shuttle runs once every half hour, holds a dozen people and theres a line of fifty waiting to get on it. Once at the location, there are another fifty people waiting for a car and they refuse to commit to a time estimate as to how long it will take. They oversell, so the lot is empty and you may eventually get a car after enough customers return theirs. Hours later, its starting to get dark and Im still waiting. And I reserved a car weeks in advance for a pickup at a specific time!
Was not told there would be extra charges when the guy asked if I had another adult with me. I thought he meant both adults needed to have their IDs scanned into the system. When he showed me the bill I asked if the extra charge (besides the tank of gas I definitely authorized) was the original charge paid by another card (paid for by a relative), he highlighted it and said yes. So when we got home from our trip and had a huge charge from them they said it was the extra charge for the extra driver. He NEVER TOUCHED THE DRIVERS SEAT!!
Took 45 minutes to bring out our car, missed a dinner reservation because of it.
Good experience. We rented an older Nissan car, the seat didnt recline, and not the best air conditioning, but the staff was great and the price was good. Thank you.
This is crazy. People paying a great deal of money for a vacation and the rental car place is a 2 hour wait. 30 people in line and 2 people working. This is the worst vacation experience i have ever been a part of to date.
Very easy and close to the airport. Drop off and shuttle took us 10 mins total. Would book with them again.
I had a reservation, so they knew I was coming... I arrived at 1:55pm. I spent about 45 minutes in line waiting. When I finally got to the front of the line, I paid, then I was told that the manager would bring me my key. I was directed to go stand with this mob of people on the other side of the office. People were complaining, and the manager was doing something, but I dont know what. No one was getting keys. She said all the cars were being washed. Didnt make sense. I waited another 35 minutes (no exaggeration - I was there for an hour and twenty minutes before I got my keys). This entire time, my wife and two kids were sitting out front in the heat during what would have been my kids nap time. It was a pretty miserable beginning of our trip. This is not the first time Dollar has screwed me over. I guess Ill have to start spending a little more to go with the another rental company - Im done with Dollar/Thrifty.
Rent from many rental car outfits around the world. This is honestly the worst. One small shuttle between the airport and the car rental building. And when you finally get here the previous people that got on the the bus before you are still waiting in line. Brutal waste of time. This is the second time I used them, thought I would give them another chance never again!
We were on vacation on Maui with wife and 2 kids, I parked the jeep in front of a store and the car would not start again. The battery died.. and nobody around with jumper cables. So i called Dollar, even with children crying in the background they were unable and unwilling to help. The car did not have 41k miles on it when this happened. Thankfully, we eventually found a nice gentleman who had jumper cables, so we were able to drive back to our hotel. We tried to get it switched and they wouldnt even be able to accommodate that. Do NOT rent from Dollar!Oh, and at the airport they had no clue what the difference between a booster seat and a toddler seat was. But this is minor when you think they rent defective cars and are unwilling to assist you when you have to call them because their cars dont work.
They were servery under staffed. Wait time to pick up the vehicle was in excess of an hour. The staff was friendly and made good on fixing issues, still hard to get over the wait time to pick up a vehicle.
We had reserved a week rental of a 4 door jeep a month before we arrived. Checkin was a breeze, the Jeep was perfect, return was a snap. Both our interactions were after 6pm, staff was super friendly and well prepared.
Id give -0 stars if I could. This rental agency is HORRIBLE! Got to OGG after a 7 hour flight from the mainland. Hawaiian Airlines left our bags in Honolulu. Already in a bad mood dealing with that. Then we get on the shuttle to the Dollar office just to stand in ANOTHER line in a stuffy, non air-conditioned office for over an hour just to spend 5 minutes at the counter with a snippy, unfriendly woman (yup...she knew exactly how to run that computer system) to get the keys to our prepaid rental car. They even have a HUGE sign pasted to the counter stating that they are undergoing a computer system change so thanks for your patience. The long wait in line had NOTHING to do with the computer system or lack of training. The agents were slow, slow, slow. They would stop and yak with each other between customers even though they saw that the line was out the door. AND besides trying to up sell every option to every person that stepped up to the counter, they also were giving out travel advice...where to eat, best things to see, how to get to such and such hotel/resort, etc. THEY ARE NOT TRAVEL AGENTS!Part of the problem that we observed while standing in line was several of the renters didnt speak English well...so it took extra time to process those renters because they had a hard time communicating with the customers lack of English skills.Do not book your reservation at this Dollar/Thrifty location. Recommend Enterprise or Avis. The people who rented there were in and out in under 15 minutes.
Nice customer service but the computer server goes down for backup in the midst of the busiest part of the evening. Added about 15 minutes to the checkin. Thats a pain when its 10 p.m. local time but 1 a.m. your time.
This was the worst rental experience I have ever had anywhere. Steven was extremely rude and pushy. My wife and I were visiting Maui on our honeymoon and he was the first person we interacted with. Started out trip off on a bad note. He told us locals would run us off the road if we didnt upgrade to a larger car. Then proceeded to nickel and dime us throughout the whole rental process. We were charged double what we had previously agreed on with no supporting paperwork. When I questioned Steven his response was we can put you in a car tonight or not, it makes no difference to me. It was 10 pm so we werent left with many options. Terrible customer service, and terrible staff.
Service was good, car could of been cleaner, especially the windows. You can see all the streaks at night making it pretty hard for clear vision.
Checked out in less than 5 minutes. Got a car with 10 miles on it. Very helpful staff.
Clean new car. Easy in and out of rental lot. Efficient staff. Bummed to learn 2nd driver cost additional $13/day.
Check in was quick and easy. Drop off was the same! We had a great experience with our rental car from Dollar!
We had paid in advance through Chase Ultimate Rewards. Was a little worried since we could not easily walk away from this one. But all went great. Was treated well. Yes, they ran the same old insurance + gas offers through us. No problem declining them.
Everything was great! Check in, price, personal care was wonderful! Thx for making it easy and great!
Ten stations and 3 are manned. Meanwhile there are at least 50 people wrapped around the building. From other reviews it seems like this is common for this location.UPDATE. After two and a half hours we finally got a car. We couldnt get the insurance because it was 65 A DAY. Will never be going to Dollar again.
The ALOHA spirit is apparent here . The staff at Dollar were friendly and accomadating, Tom even offered travel tips for our visit to MAUI. A nice trouble free expirience renting a car from Dollar, near the kahului airport .
Horrendous two-hour wait to meet with an agent even with a reservation. There is an additional wait for the keys/car. Several open counter stations but not enough staff to man these. Dollar knows the number of reservations they have well in advance. Very poor scheduling management (both for vehicles and staff). Staff seem professional but well understaffed. Ill let you know how good the staff service is once I get to talk to one. At this pace I should see an agent in an hour and then get my keys and the car 30 minutes after that. Ive already been in line for an hour.
