My girlfriend took me to Maui for vacation and looking for a local car rental company we found Kahului auto rentals from a YouTube video we saw. Having our hesitation because it was a first for both but wanting to support a local business instead we jumped and rented from them. Let me tell you they made the process so smooth and simple. Picked it up from the airport and we went on our way! Car was clean, reliable and fun. We put it to its paces as some roads are a little rough in Maui and the car took it no problem. The price was amazing too! Made our trip so worth it! Rent from them you won’t be disappointed! Can’t wait to go back I know who we using to get around.

We had a nice experience. With the current sky high rental car costs in maui, this was the only company where we could find car with reasonable cost, otherwise we would have ended up paying 3 to 4 times higher price.Pick up and drop off was really quick and smooth. Yes cars are old but we did not face any major problem. We did have a small problem with the key remote not working but they swapped our car next day when we texted about it . Overall a smooth experience!

I seriously loved this service. The place where you get the cars looks a little sketchy but I cant be mad, it was great service all around they picked me and my wife up from the airport and we just dropped off the car at the airport it was convenient. We got a nice ford escape for a really really good price. Definitely recommend.

HONEST REVIEWRenting from these guys was part of our 9 day adventure on Maui. This is unlike any rental company that Ive used before. Be warned, these cars are somewhat older, but honestly, what did you expect for such a reasonable price? We were not super satisfied with our first car, so we called the company and requested a different car. Switching out to another car was super easy and the folks at the rental agency were very accommodating. Had this been another car rental agency, the process would have been hell. Also, did I mention that they pick you up right outside of the gate!?Our car was older, but ran like a champ -- took us all over the island and was key to having a great time during our vacation. I would feel comfortable renting from Kahului Auto Rentals again.

Don’t even know where to begin. First off I’ll start by saying I knew I wasn’t going to be getting a luxury rental here - that it was going to be older and more run down; however -it’s a rental car company. All cars should be safe and should driveThe first car I got - a Nissan Altima, headlights were so fogged over they were basically non-existent. I had to rely on other people’s lights or the brights when I could. I picked up at night after hours so was stuck with for the night. I messaged him the next day and he told me to come swap it outThe next car seemed okay at first, though still old and beat up. But on the second day after spending the day sight seeing we tried to go back home and the car wouldn’t start. Note - I flipped the headlight stick around to double check that and make sure it wasn’t on but in fact we hadn’t driven at night so we didn’t use them.I called him and he came and brought me a new carThis was another Nissan. He brought it during the day and again seems okay. Come night time and...guess what! Same issue as the first car. I actually had to make sure and check the license plate to make sure it wasn’t the same exact one. Since that was going to be the last time I should be driving at night I just dealt with it that night. The next day we got up (it had rained the night before) and the floor boards were wet. The windows were all closed. So there’s some kind of leak somewhere. Just decided to deal with it. Wouldn’t hopefully affect anything. Went out sightseeing again and got in to start car and it wouldn’t recognize the key fob!!! It took about 2 hours and waking away, Messi g with the battery and re-entering the car and for some reason it decided to work again when I had him on the phone for the second time.We dropped off the car at the airport and I inquired about a refund because frankly the whole thing was ridiculous and wasted valuable vacation time and was just unsafe.He told me he’s not responsible for the headlights and to contact Nissan!?!?!No sir! You own the car and are the one renting it out. YOU are responsible for its upkeep and safetyWorst experience ever

Yaro took great care of us on our Maui Trip! Would use again if back on the island. Great rates, airport pickup/dropoff, and can even rent beach gear if needed. Cars are not new/in the best shape, but get you around the island just fine (and they have roadside assistance in case of breakdown). Yaro was very quick to respond to any questions we had. We rented a car from Yaro in March 2021 and had wonderful customer service. Great service when our car had a flat tire - within 1 hour it was repaired and back on the road we went. Yaro is very accommodating and helpful.....look no further. We will certainly be a return customer. Thank you Yaro!

I just drove off the lot and I am shocked and disappointed. My rental car is very old and it does not smell like a typical rental car. It smells stuffy and old. And there is a sign in the little office that says, “No refunds.” I wish I had gone to a regular car rental company.The 4.7 Google rating for this place is a hoax. Only a tiny handful of the reviews are honest. Kahului Auto Rentals has the best deals in Maui if you are looking to rent a car. I was recommend to Yaro and I couldn’t be more pleased. If I decide to buy a car. I will buy from here.

Very disappointing. I made a confirmed reservation three weeks in advance and my booking was cancelled by Kahului Auto Rentals two days before I was scheduled to arrive in Maui. I was told that my reserved vehicle was unavailable due to an accident, and was not offered a replacement vehicle. I had to book last-minute with a different agency, and this cost me significantly more money.

Great price for good service! I rent a car for my friends and they were really happy. People at the lot picked them up right in front of baggage claim and dropped them off right in front of the check in counter at the airport. They didnt need to walk around with big suitcases trying to find where to go. Better than other car rental company!

This company abandoned a car in our neighborhood for over a week. When contacted, the owner said he hadnt had time to pick it up and would be out in a few days. Very rude and irresponsible behavior. Do not rent from this company. NO Stars.

I was a bit apprehensive about not going with one of those big rental companies but honestly my experience has been only positive, and when we come back to Maui, we will rent our car through them, no questions. Now just to be sure people know what to expect. The cars available are not new. Mine had 145000k with all the sign of wear and tear youd expect, which in a way is a good thing when you go to muddy places or beaches with your kids. As the owner said they have been used and abused. But our minivan worked just fine. They dont have a rental office at the airport but they come pick you up and then drive you to their office nearby to finalize the paperwork.On the second night we got a pretty bad flat tire. There was no wrench to change the tire so they sent somebody to help us. Since they could not repair the tire that night (this is how bad it was), they put the spare on, and we switched it back the next day. The whole time we communicated via SMS so you dont have to call a stupid customer service line, wait for ever at the sound of elevator music. You get an answer right away.I gave them 4 stars because I didnt want to give people the impression that what they will deal with is a typical rental company. But if youre okay with a non conventional way of doing business while getting a great service for the price, then it is worth 5 stars ... Oh hell, I will give them 5 stars anyway 😉

Awesome! Yes, the cars are older but that was totally fine with us. Our car was amazing on gas and drove so well. It was after hours when we flew in so they left the car at the airport for us to pick up - we were out of there in 5 minutes unlike our friends who took over an hour to get their car. Drop off was the same - just parked and let them know which row.One more thing to put your mind at ease - we were asked to send a picture via text of our insurance and credit card which at first I was concerned with. I knew they had really great reviews and decided to go with it. We were charged when we arrived and had zero issues. We will definitely rent from them again - I’d give more stars if I could! This was our best car rental experience ever!!! The whole process was SO simple. We simply walked out of the airport, across the car port, and into our rental car, which was waiting in the very first parking space. And we were off!! It was sooo convenient.And communicating with management was really easy. I even texted a couple of random questions in the middle of the night, and they got right back to me every time! Perfect experience!

GREAT service! We called very last-minute, and Ty was super helpful from the beginning. He quoted us a van at an extremely reasonable price (actually less than half of every other place we had inquired) and had it ready to go when we arrived! Not only that, but he let us use the van a couple hours more than just 24 hours, and then HE DROVE US BACK TO OUR CRUISE SHIP!!! Amazing man, and an amazing business. You dont meet people who genuinely care that often. Definitely recommend.

All I can say is wow! On an island full of rental car companies, these guys really went out of their way to take care us!!! Rental was ready and waiting for us at the airport. Hassle free and friendly staff every time we interacted. They were attentive and texted us back info - which we prefer to phone calls to be honest. The car drove great and it was a much better price than all of the regular companies like Avis etc. We come to Maui to our timeshare every couple of years and will definitely use this company every time we return. Had an older Toyota Highlander this time - going to ask for the newer ford explorer next time. Highlander drove great and was incredibly clean inside, outside had a little bit of weathering due to cars age and Hawaiian climate - but no complaints for the 5 days we drove it. It even had the new car smell (from air fresheners) lol. Highly recommend based on ease and most importantly price. Saved easily $300+ to rent an SUV on Maui.

Everything was alright until we went to fill with gas and the gas cap literally fell off once the gas cover was popped open. The service engine light proceeded to turn on and stay on the entire rest of our trip... we called and they said it was okay to drive still and offered to switch it out, but we were on the other side of the island by then, and they knew the car had a defective cap when we called, asking us what model it was, before saying not to worry about it.Overall, worth it to go to a larger rental and get a car that doesn’t smell like cigarettes and creak on every turn and speed bump.
