I too am being generous with the one star am a current resident have cabinet doors falling off henges not to mention no mater what I do I can’t get rid of the roaches and occasionally a rat gets in I have tried to get them to do something about all of these problems and unsuccessful. There has been known drug trafficking and people think it’s fun to shoot guns right outside my apartment! I have a child here! The only reason I haven’t moved is because I haven’t yet gotten the money together to get another place!

If you are looking for a rundown complex with shoddy maintenance and uncaring staff over priced units and a bad living experience then this is the place for you!

Only because a 0 is not optional. The unit repairs are NEVER completed! The amenities are NEVER accessible! The potholes ruin your vehicle & tires! Residents leave dog poop EVERYWHERE! Trash is throughout leading to STRAY CATS!! The staff is nonchalant and disrespectful!! You will waste time and money moving into this complex! Drive around the area and find something better:) thank me later!

Poor management, maintenance does no work they are sorry. They do not do what they say there going to do. DO NOT COME TO THESE APARTMENTS, find another complex there not worthy your time look for somewhere better. No star

These apartments could actually be nice if they even slightly tried. Drive around the grounds and notice the trash laying everywhere. Check out the rat-attracting junkyard behind the busted up fence by the maintenance room and the random stairs that were replaced months ago that are still just unpainted slats of wood... they arent even the same size as the other steps, so its probably best that they arent painted so you know which ones youre going to stumble on. Be sure to look at all of the ripped and non-existent screens on the patios near the entrance. At least one of the supposed 4 laundry rooms is permanently locked and littered with broken bottles. The playgrounds look like something youd find in an abandoned amusement park. The eviction stickers from the last tenant will still be stuck on your door when you move in, so bring somethingto help scrape that off. Also bring your own caulk, sealant, and flooring experience because youre going to need it to fix the peeling cheap laminant and loose door thresholds on the new floors and carpet that you agreed to pay an extra $50 a month for. The folding closet doors look like they were picked up on the side of the road 20 years ago, and you cant even force them to close properly or stay in their tracks. Dont waste your money paying the $400 pet deposit for your service dog because no one else bothers paying it for their unleashed aggressive dogs that they dont bother controlling or picking up after. But luckily, theres night security here... Ive seen them twice. It wasnt during any of the criminal incidents Ive seen, just sitting by the office once and parked in the back corner the other time... but theyre around here somewhere, I guess. One positive thing Ill say is that the leasing office is very luxurious and well taken care of. It makes you think this could be a decent complex. Side note:

Dont even waste your time or money even applying here. My roommate and I spent 120 dollars in fees. They did not inform us that the fees were nonrefundable. They denied our application and kept all our money.

This place is such a joke. When I viewed an apartment it was gorgeous! I was completely in love with the “model”. Then I had to sign my lease early because the person I was dealing with was going on vacation, mind you I had not seen the apartment yet, but I figured I saw what I liked in the model and went with it. Fast forward to move in day and I do the walk through and it was a disaster! My carpets had red stains all over them. The balcony is still broken, my dishwasher was non working, the linoleum tile was old and gross, and the doors for the closets do not close. I finally got my carpets and linoleum done and dishwasher after almost a month. My blinds in my kitchen aren’t put up as I’ve asked maintenance many times. When signing my lease I told them I had pets and everything was fine. Now today I get a note on my door to either pay or get rid of my pets. This is a truly bad place to live. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt because I know people don’t always get what they want and post mean stuff but this has gone too far.

This complexrecently did a key buy back so people would get out they gave 500 dollar checks just last week the checks are no good and my bank account is jacked because of the bad check im most certainly reporting this place and im putting them on tv oh yes i am they should have never gave out bounced checks anyone else who has this issue plz call ben becker they need to be exposed

I dont recommend ANYONE to even consider living here. Some of the office and even corporate staff are unprofessional/RUDE with the way they handle their residents, the only good thing is the price of the apartments are affordable for anyone that maybe a single parent or just starting out. If you have the patience to deal with rude office staff and your apartment falling apart for weeks before maintenance comes...BE MY GUEST!! DONT BE FOOLED PPL!!!!

Great place to live and the office staff is amazing. They have a pool and a great fitness center. They are managed by Lofty Asset Management and they are a wonderful management company!!

I’ve lived here for about 4 years now and I have to say I’m extremely happy with where I am at I don’t have any issues I pay my rent on time and mind my own business the staff is great outgoing and very friendly the two ladies in the office Jennifer and McKenzie are the best they care about your wants and needs out of the apartment if something goes wrong they fix it and have maintenance come very quick they know you by name and they are very friendly they are very professional and kind I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and I would refer them to go see Jennifer Or McKenzie

I really do not recommend anyone to rent an apartment from this place. Do not be fooled by there apartment deals and rent prices. This complex is absolutely disgusting. The women that work at the leasing office are the most inconsistent, unprofessional, and incompetent group Ive ever met. Any request I have had seemed to be an issue. They will force you to get renters insurance,before getting settled in, because you will need it. Do not leave valuables out in the open or near your window, yes kids will reach into your window or try to open your door and take it. When it rains it floods the parking lot everywhere and even inside the apartment and it takes them over a week to do anything about it. Plumbing issues like the pipes bursting is a regular event. Another regular event is shell casings and a heavy police presence. You like the pool? You will never use them because they are always closed, and there is no where to sit because they will not replace any lounge chairs or umbrellas. You like cats? Well there are 200 strays waiting for you to feed them. Most of your neighbors will have roaches. There is poor internet and no phone service because there are no towers. Your car is in jeopardy to be vandalized along with the rest of the complex. It is like pulling teeth to have the leasing office to do anything and it always seems to be a problem to even ask them to fix something or to even take a request to look into an issue. This is coming from someone who has NEVER paid late, not even one day late on any bill and they dont even know my name. If I could put no stars that is what I would do!

I moved her 2 years ago I must say this the best office staff that has every been in the office they are so caring and professional. Jennifer has been there for a while she so nice but now i feel i can talk to everyone now before I felt like I could only go to Jennifer. Mrs Kat and Mackenzie they are awesome. I had a problem getting my tag when it expired all I had to do was communicate and they worked with me. They all always on property making sure grounds are done. Even Maintenance has stepped up even when I called asking about an order. They Came right over. Love Living Here. In regard to Angela that post a couple of days ago... I was reading your complaint, it sounds to me like they tried to help you when ac went out people can only do what they can do asap but a window unit that a start. And, $200 Off ! Most places would not do that. That was awesome of them. I was here during the storm when they gave a letter to get all items from patio so it doesnt blow away and break window. Common sense says YOU should have removed them. I know for a fact they do notices with ASAP before towing car. If you dont believe it go in the office - pictures are taken and the office must sign off before car is taken. You are responsible to put your own sticker on your car which takes one sec. Also if you couldnt get your sticker when it expired you can call the office and they would have held your car. Far as rent being misplaced or what not I understand why you would be upset, BUT, like you said they said sorry and it was found. People are people and everyone makes mistakes. I love how people are quick to say something bad or put someone or something down. Maybe you need to check yourself and be more understanding. This is a big place with fewemployee but I feel they really try to helpful and nice to resident. Everyone should want to live here. The place is not perfect, but who and what is. I Love Caroline Square Staff and all of them make Caroline Square Awesome!!!!

I have been here couple months. I love Jennifer and Tony they are great and helpful. They work with people glad I didnt listen to reviews people are quick to put something bad before good. I did see some good reviews. Glad I saw past the bad. Even though not perfect, I love there heart and they try alot of people here any only few maintenance. Still think they do good in there time in getting to work orders. If people really care about where they live pick up there trash instead of having worker go around doing it. take a community to make something better not just the staff. So wake up people stop blaming others for everything. These are older apts but I love my apt and I will pick up in front of my apt instead of walking past it. Its all in what you make it. I have lived here over a year now it’s clean in my apartment the staff in the leasing office is amazing Jennifer and McKenzie are amazing they make you laugh and smile they are friendly and they genuinely care about you when you walk through the leasing office door they are the best leasing agents I have ever came accross ever since lofty took over it’s gotten even better the maintenance comes whenever I have an issue and they help each other to get the job done I have no complaints at all about this place at all Jennifer and McKenzie thank you for all your hard work

This place is the absolute worst!!!! When we moved in, the place wasnt cleaned properly. The people that work in the office will smile in your face but dont get anything done. Its been 6 months I have been waiting on repairs and no one has came to fix them. I pay my rent on time every month and I know if they were having problems with their apartment they would want someone to fix the repairs asap. This is rude and unprofessional. You have residents that live out here and bust their butts everyday to pay rent on time but they cant do repairs on time.. Ill be contacting the local news and newspapers to let everyone in the city know how caroline square treats their residents

These apartments are HELL ON EARTH! I’m fighting eviction because they have YET to FULLY repair my apartment or move me into another one after MOLD DAMAGE!!! You can’t reach corporate no one calls back and if I didn’t know any better the lawyers and judges work together!!! They are OVERCHARGING me from the eviction and forcing another DISABLED VETERAN to face homelessness!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! Management acts nice and concerned and lies in court!!! Everything here seems AMAZING until you have to put in a request for repairs!!! IF YOU STILL LIVE HERE GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING YOUR REQUESTS RENTAL RECIPTS ANY CONCESSIONS ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU GET IT IN WRITING!!!! These apartments are not good at all! They have roaches and loud neighbors, I’ve asked to to have repairs done multiple times and no one ever came. There are stray dogs walking around and it’s way too dark at night to not have any lights in the neighborhood.also there are no locks on the storage units to keep your stuff from being stolen DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Roach problem. Rude and disrespectful office and maintenance workers. Tub peels. Would not recommend. In response to what they said about my comment i keep my place clean and the bug man and maintenance man both backed me up. Than they get mad when you get mad because you dont want to live in a roach infested apartment and give you smart mouth. When i pay my rent every month.

I moved into Caroline Square in September of 2014. It wasnt the best but it also wasnt the worst at the time. The front office people seemed nice and maintenance was seen on a regular basis cleaning up the complex. Things started going down hill after about 8 months. There was a fire in one of the apartments due to bad electrical work in an empty apartment below it. The bath tubs and sinks are painted white and if you clean like I do, the paint starts to peel after a while. Everything is painted in the kitchen as well and stains easily. I dont smoke but since my neighbor did, you could smell it through the vents. The biggest issue came January of 2016. My downstairs neighbor broke into my apartment and attacked me. The leasing office stated he wasnt on the lease but could not provide the information to prove that he wasnt. This man has an extensive criminal history and if he was on the lease the complex shouldnt have allowed him to move in. There has been an influx of crime in the area. They then tried to charge me for moving out. I wouldnt suggest moving to this complex. It isnt very safe any longer and you can honestly find more for your money in a different complex. The apartments are huge and spacious which is a plus but its not worth it.

Im a new resident and my main problem so far is the crime. In the last month, there has been an armed robbery, a stolen car was recovered, and just this afternoon was a shooting. The homeless seem to think that vacant apartments are temporary motels and the young adults seem to think its the wild, wild west. I am afraid to let my son walk home from school.The roaches are no longer an issue as I worked hard to get rid of them and my family is very clean. I havent seen any rats, but thats probably because of all the stray cats that live in the dumpsters. There is a small ton of stray cats and they all look to be well fed.And speaking of dumpsters, why cant people get the trash in them? You would think that if you live in the complex, you would want to keep it clean. Nope, people leave their trash sitting on the ground and then the cats tear it up.I will say that the staff is great. I have never had an issue with anyone in the office and they are quick to speak whenever they see you in the community. I had to call maintenance, and they were also quick to resolve my issues. While I wouldnt recommend anymore living here, because of the safety issues, I wont say its the worst community in Jacksonville.

Hello future residence !!!! I am now a new resident at Caroline Square Apartments and as my opinion on the apartment I would gladly give these apartments, staffs, and the customer service a 5 star 🌟..... So far my experience has been amazing ! Ms. Jennifer thats in office is such an amzing person and worker. She has made my move in amazing ! They all make sure that youre okay and comfortable with the home you are choosing. Which I had gotten a 2/1 apartment. I know that the outside of these apartments arent as what people would wish for them to be but however I am sure that Ms. Jennifer and other staffs in the office are making sure everyone is safe and their enviroment around their homes are safe... Although you cant stop the residence and their company from coming onto the property. But however these apartments are amazing . And I would refer anyone (that is positive in every aspect) family and friends too look into renting a home from Caroline Square.. So far I have nothing but good and amazing things to say about Caroline Square and the office.... I havent had any problems getting in and also being here...

Do not, I repeat DO NOT come to these apartments!!!! They are horrible! The maintance crew is bad and doesnt fix anything, the people in the front office are rude, and they expect that rent on time but take years to respond to the residents issues! I have pictures of the black mold growing in my house and all the other issues i have constantly complained about for the almost 8 months i have lived here! I do not recommend these apartments they are trash and the environment is disgusting! They dont even deserve the one star I gave! Honestly they just need new owners and crew maybe then these apartments would be more decent ! And to pay $904 a month for rent these apartments are not worth it! Im in the process of reporting this place because no one that lives here deserves to be in this environment!

I have lived in this apartment for almost 2 years now with my husband and our daughter. This place is absolutly terrible I wish I had never moved here. Last summer our air was broke for 6 weeks or longer. Maintenance should be doing periodical checks to ensure things are working properly. They had not done a system check in 2 years on our air unit. So they gave us a window unit in our bedroom. That doesnt really help when you live in Florida and have a child staying in another room. We ended up getting a $200 dollar discount but that only happened because we asked for a discount. Then hurricane season approached and they told us to remove everything from our patio. Ok fine I understand. However the very next day my husband and I were in the bedroom and we hear noise coming from the living room. We went out to check what it was and there was a man moving all our stuff around. my husband shouted what the hell? The man quickly said he was maintenance and was moving our stuff due to the storm approaching. He didnt announce when entering our residence that he was maintenance coming in and you are supposed to do that. Then time goes by and we paid rent for a month(all the rent). So about a week went by and I received a phone call from the office saying we owed them money and if we did not pay we would be evicted. I told them oh no we do not owe anything because I paid in full and they need to get up and find my payment. a few days later they called me to tell me they were wrong. By that point though I did not care. They already freaked me out thinking I would be evicted. Fast forward to yesterday May 8th 2018. I came home and I didnt see my husbands car. I didnt think much of it so I went up stairs. my husband was asleep because he works night shift. I start to panic. I ask him where the car was and he told me outside. I said no no no it is not outside. We end up having to get cops involved because we are thinking it was stolen. Well come to find out our office had it towed due to the tag being expired which it wasnt i had just renewed it and had not put the sticker on it yet. What makes me most angry about this situation is that they didnt even put any kind of notification on our door saying our car had been towed. We seriously thought our car had been stolen. They should have at least gave us notification a few days before saying they plan on towing it but no they didnt. I can not stand this place and I wish I had never moved here. I would not reccomend this place to my worst enemy. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!

These are facts about my apartment unit. I can only speak for me. I pay rent on time every month and practice keeping the unit clean. ROACHES and MOLD are everywhere. While moving in, there were dead roaches under the cabinets. Weekly Ive tried bleaching and using borax in the kitchen & bathrooms. Roaches still will not go away. I clean behind the stove and refrigerator weekly to again find a live roach infestation behind the appliances. My refrigerator had to be replaced because of roach infestation inside. Pest Control service is a joke. I even tried my own raid and pest control from Lowes, doesnt work. If you turn on the kitchen light at night you will find a maze of roaches scattered. I brought a brand new microwave, the next day I could see lots of tiny roaches crawling inside the microwave clock display after pest control left. I cant even eat off utensils because of roaches. I cant take my new furniture I brought. Since its now infested with roaches inside the sofa I run the risk of transporting roaches to my new home. I dont even eat in my room yet roaches still make their way into my bed by crawing on the bed frame. Roaches will eat holes in your clothes. Ive spent more money living out here replacing things. My toddler even goes down the aisle at Target pointing at roach spray. The inside of the tubs are painted. Once the tub starts to peel, youre placed on a wait list for a repaint job. My family deserves better. I refuse to renew my lease. Im just speaking for me and stating the facts.

Ive resided in Caroline Square for 7 months now and I must say I agree with the complaints in reviews. Do not be fooled! The roaches are taking over. I have used the cheap pest control service they offer (included in rent). I have bombed my place several times which is very nerve wrecking because in return I have to spend the next 48 hours cleaning, wiping walls down with bleach, washing all my dishes again, etc. The bathtubs need to replaced. The wood is rotted out in cabinetry in which they simply just painted over. I was told my cabinets would be replaced upon moving in. However, that never happened of course. Most importantly I want people to beware of the electrical issues. When I first moved in I plugged my lamp in one outlet and it completely blew out and stop working. Then I plugged my flat screen TV up in a different outlet and it blew out. I contact the office the next day. I was told thats why tenants have to purchase renters insurance. I should file a claim and pay $250 to have my tv replaced. Maintenance came by and checked my outlets. They were all bad and needed to be replaced. Maintenance stated that the company that put the breaker box in didnt not come back and screw down the breakers. I am not an electrician so I am not sure if that would have caused the outlets to blow my lamp and tv. These reviews are not just here for show. I wouldnt recommend this community to my worst enemy.... On top of that I pay $900 and feel like I live in the hood smh... Happy apartment hunting!

This is by far the worst apartment complex. They fix nothing. My A/C has constantly broke down and with these brutal summers my apartment has been 85 degrees. You can call the emergency maintenance and you still wont get a response. If I could I wouldnt even give them the 1 star

This is the worst apartment complex ever. When i turned in my last months rent i asked the lady if i had to do anything else beofre i left for good. Wells turns out they have been running a tab for rent even after notifying then 2 times that i will not be renweing my lease. They decided that because i didnt turn in my keys that they would continue to charge me for remt even though there was no valid lease on file with them due to it expiring. Never was i notified as a tenant that i had to turn in keys even though i had asked when i turned in last mknths notice. I even hand wrote a letter stating that i would not be renewing the lease. So now they have racked up charges way over 2,000 due to past due rent because they have let it go for over a month. I will never recommend this place to anyone!!!!

I just hate i didn’t read the reviews first and went to the area first😢... worst mistake ever!!!

They seriously need to go in that management office and fire EVERYBODY!! I understand they encounter difficult tenants from time to time but that does not give them the right to treat everyone like crap. They have no manners and are extremely rude right down to the apartment manager. I walked into my apartment and saw a kid going through my closet we called the police but the next week he was less than a block away from my home they didnt care in fact they didnt even consider allowing me to move to a new unit. I scrubbed my apartment before moving out from top to bottom including my stove and the tubs that maintenance left dirty from cutting open my ceiling and they gave me back less than half of my deposit, they claim my tubs were dirty and im pretty positive it was due to maintenance finishing the work that wasnt complete when I moved out. I called for the corporate number and they refused to give it out. Im sure Christy was going to pass my info along to the apartment manager who is going to do nothing about my complaint for poor service through out my entire stay. Do you self a favor and keep driving if you ever encounter these apartments. Im still searching for the corporate number and I have filed a complaint with the BBB

Would not recommend to anyone! Crime is terrible, my car was stolen, my apartment was broken into, someone threw a rock through my sons window and took everything in our house and the apartment complex could have cared less! The bugs are terrible, Im TOO CLEAN of a person to have to see bugs in my apartment.. I terminated my lease & will be paying them off because I refuse to live there any longer!

Pest control is out of hand..the more u use pest control treatment the more pest comes..double..you can smell the infestations when you walk in...do not rent..you will be sorry..they dont fix anything..plumbing is terrible...the paint the tub instead of putting a new one in..stairs falling apart..maintence never fixes anything...i was promised alot wen I signed my lease n I have been here for a whole month they have yet to fix anything..

Worst place ever to live the roaches are horrible the staff is illiterate always has people hanging around smoking outside not professional dirty and the people in the office look like they are on drugs looking confused when you tell them there is a problem that needs to be fixed the maintenance walk around and do absolutely nothing and the manager doesn’t know what she is doing and is very rude

Toilet doesnt work stuff keeps breaking
