DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY! We have been renting from Pedals for at least 20 years. Pedals has went up in pricing and down in quality. We had to return 2 of our bikes the first day due to technical problems and the next day we had to have another exchanged out due to the chain was about to fall off and was all rusty. We rented 5 bikes and all of them were old and created nothing but problems when riding them. After all of these years being loyal to them, I will not rent from them ever again and will recommend that you don’t either. It’s nothing but a headache and when you’re on vacation that is not what you want .

We use Pedals every year on our trips to Hilton Head. Always a great experience. This year, I forgot to order an extra bike and kiddie cart. I called that day on the drive and they caught the truck about to deliver our bikes and added the extra to the delivery! So kind and helpful. Always the easiest part of our trip. Thank you guys!

It’s tough to find hybrid geared bikes in HHI right now and Pedals was the only one that could help us. Rented two of them for a week which were waiting at our villa when we arrived. Had some mechanical issues and they not only responded quickly but replaced both bikes with practically new Jamis Citizen 2s the same day. Great bikes. Great service. Reasonable rates.

They were very helpful this morning. I came in as they were opening with a repair and despite being busy quickly repaired my flat. Really appreciated.

Great place! Fast and very economical. Walked in and rented 4 bikes for the week and was leaving on said bikes in probably in under 8 minutes- all with the proper sizes for me, my wife and 2 small kids. Their prices were some of the most competitive. They picked the bikes up for free from the condo where we were staying at the end of the week. Bikes were perfect and no issues with any of them- very smooth pedaling on pavement and the beach and not too much wear on the tires. They give you the locks. They give you a basket if you desire. We were very happy. Great service. Fast service. Great prices. Will rent from them again! Thank you guys!!!

We rented bicycles on New Years Day and had a blast!! They were great at answering our questions, had bicycles for us quickly, and came to us right away with a replacement bike when our daughters bikes chain fell off. We had a blast and look forward to a day of biking in Hilton Head again!

They had bikes, thats the pro. Con was that the place seems to be run by sullen teenagers with their faces in their phones. We passed and went somewhere else.

We had a hell of a bad start to our trip and then I blew a tube on my bike. I took it in on a very busy day and they fixed it right away for me! I appreciated the service!

Horrible customer service. Front desk staff is there just to collect a paycheck. We had to return there 3 times due to issues with the bikes. On the third visit, I asked for a refund. The owner was very curt with me, but eventually gave me a partial refund. (We only had the bikes less than 12 hours)The bikes had horrible brakes. They would not stop unless I “slammed” on them which then caused the bike to swerve almost caused us to lose control. The owner also tried to assure me this was normal. Do not rent from here, call THE BIKE DOCTOR. They have excellent customer service.

Bikes are old, dirty and in bad shape comparing with other companies.

Bought a bike, didnt even take it out of the shop, I changed my mind, bike was too bulky, he charged for the mirror and kept it, processing fee, close to $70., He was really rude about it, go to other bike shops

BEWARE, I do NOT recommend this rental company! 2 of our bikes were fair at best but worked The $55 trike bike had a warped wheel and went sideways easily. When we called, he argued that we just didnt know how to drive a trike bike. (3 others tried to drive it and it did the same thing that it did for me.) I called and he did agree to swap it out and did so. I was ok until I discovered he had swapped it out with a bike that was also in bad shape. The seat would NOT lower due to rust. 2 men tried to lower it and could not either. I could not ride it at all due to the seat being way too high. It just sat on the bike rack. I am a very unhappy customer!

We were given a broken step bike ($65 vs the normal $35 beach cruiser) so we couldn’t ride bikes our first day. Wheel was messed up and seat would not adjust (too much rust). They gave us a hard time about asking for a refund back to $35 and ultimately only gave us a partial refund of the extra $30 we spent. Seems like they would just want to make it right since we were inconvenienced and given the damaged product. Replacement bike was nice and new, but would have liked to get that the first time.Also, both bikes we rented (originally) were pretty old and had a lot of rust. We still weren’t able to tighten one of the seats but didn’t want to deal with a second exchange. Saw lots of folks with newer/better maintained bikes.

Great service, the owner and staff are all very nice and helpful. This is our second year renting from Pedals, (4 bikes and a kiddie cart). We will definitely continue bringing our business here and recommend them!

My family of 6 rented 2 adult bikes with one pull behind for our 2 smaller kids and 2 children’s bikes. They were nice and quick to check us out and get us on our way! East return. A little pricy but we had a fun time. Will use this company again!

Would not recommend this place. They had a stack of 10 child carriers but would not rent one to me unless I rented a beach cruiser from them also. I have my own bike and can’t ride 2 at the same time. Pretty weak.

We brought our own bikes but needed a few things tightened and extra air in our tires. We stopped at another bike shop and the person there didn’t know how to help. We went to Pedals and a gentleman fixed us all up! Great service!

Weve rented bikes from Pedals for years. This year we rented two bikes that we received on Friday. We arrived at HHI late that night and wanted to start riding late afternoon on Saturday. I noticed that one of the bikes had a flat tire. I called Pedals a few minutes after 5 pm, which is their closing time, and no answer and couldnt leave a voicemail as the mailbox was full. We proceeded to buy a bike pump at Grayco, brought it back home and after 20 pumps, realized the inner tube was flat. Was beyond frustrated. Went to Pedals the next morning and explained to the manager the situation and that I wanted a prorated refund. Instead of him apologizing for our inconvenience, he was accusatory and asked why we didnt contact him sooner and also indicated that there was no way the bikes were delivered with a flat tire. Very disappointing. Will take my business elsewhere going forward.

4 bikes for 4 girls. 1st night a random lock was placed on one of our bikes. The store gave ME a code for the color tape marked locks so we could remove ourselves. Thankfully the miscellaneous lock was gone... next day our bike is missing.. only way to get the code was thru the store... called to report bike stolen/missing and no one can help... says they have bikes stolen all the time and it doesnt affect us unless we want to pay to rent another one..no thanks. Id buy one and leave it on the sand first. Has to be a scam to make insurance money. Beware of this place or at least use your own locks and hope they dont cut them. Two nights worth of riding and 130 bucks wasted... rented elsewhere to get thru the week. Id piss on their sign and piggy back my kids all week before renting here again .

My daughter and I rented two very old looking bikes from this store, because the store across the street from was closed at that time. We rented and paid for them for 2 full days Thursday late afternoon close to 5pm. My daughter and I played golf Saturday morning and planned to bike after, and when we got home around 1pm, the bikes were gone! We were frantically looking for them everywhere! I locked both bikes so I couldn’t figure out how they were stolen! I finally called the store, and they said they took the bikes from our villa! I said I would like the bikes back since we should have them until later afternoon, the owner got on the phone and started yelling at me saying that I rented the bike until “Saturday” so they were allowed to take them back early that day and I would have to pay for another day for them. And he tried to lie to me what time they took the bikes (apparently 2pm!) until he realized it was 2pm when we were on the phone. Personally, I didn’t even care if we biked or not (although my young daughter wanted to), but I couldn’t believe how terrible their customer service was! I feel that we should have been told that they were going to pick up the bikes early Saturday, then we would have just rented them until Friday since we already had a plan to play golf Saturday morning. If he just said sorry nicely, I would have been just fine. We come here every summer, and I know where NOT to get the bikes from.

Might not be the closest bike rental to Palmetto Dunes but definitely the most chill.

Highly recommend this company! On vacation and the bike helmet I brought for my 1 year old daughter didnt fit. Was renting bikes from another company, that didnt have her size helmet! Just by chance went into this store to see if they would rent me one and they where wonderful! Fitted my daughter for the helmet and told me to just bring it back when I was finished using It. They have my business for life!! Great customer service!! Thank you so much.

Rented two bikes with a kiddie cart. Had to bring back the kiddie cart because it was very dirty. On the last day they picked up the bikes in the morning although we rented them until the afternoon. We could not clear the cart and had to go to their office to pick up our personal stuff like beach games from the kids that was still in the cart. Unfortunately not everything was returned; still missing a kids beach game. Can’t recommend this place.

We’ve been going to pedals for years and absolutely love their down home atmosphere and great prices!

We were in town for a few days and decided that a bike ride around the area would be fun. What a great decision, plenty of well-marked trails and riding on the beach was outstanding.Rented bikes at Pedals due to its proximity to Coligny Circle and the beach. While getting our bikes the staff was supper friendly and helpful, especially with giving us a map and giving us guidance on the highlights of the area to see on a bike. The bikes gave a very smooth ride with large cushioned seats and had well maintained chains and wheels. Pedals also gave us each a basket and lock in case we wanted to stop along the way and walk a bit and to carry items. All in all, an outstanding four hours on Hilton Head Island.BTW, they will deliver bikes to your hotel/condo and pick them up when you are finished, a great service. We will be renting from them when we come back to Hilton Head next year.

We borrowed a bike from a friend and once we got to Hilton Head island I realized the tires were dry rottedw and needed to be replaced. We stopped by pedals on the way to the beach. The person we spoke to said he could replace both tires, the tubes, and check out the bike. He did not have time to order the tires that were on the bike but had something comparable in stock (at half the price). We did not have a way yo leave it right then since we were riding to the beach. He said dont worry. Just get a drink next door and come back in 20 minutes, it will be ready. They went out of their way to help and the total bill was under $70. Really great service and nice folks.

Wow! Horrible experience! After many many years of coming to Hilton Head and renting bikes, our bikes were delivered late and then the alley cat didnt work. After multiple calls, the owner yelled at me, told me I was lying, and refused to give a full refund. So much for customer service...or common decency. Wont call Pedals again!

The bikes were great until they picked them up early. We had planned on using them on our last day in HHI but Pedals decided to pick them up at 10 am.

Environmentally friendly, healthy way to get around the island. Check bicycle chain before leaving to ensure they are not loose.

We got multiple flat tires on the bikes, had to have the company switch the bikes out multiple times. They wouldnt give us any type of refund for the inconvenience.

We visit the island every year for spring break and Pedals used to be our go to. This year, we rented two adult bikes with the extended bike for the child. It cost $93 for the week. These bikes were in terrible condition! They are clearly very old. I felt like they were going to fall apart while we were riding them. The tires were worn, bikes rusted, handle covers falling off... We passed many other bikers who rented from other local places and have noted the names of those places that rent new looking bikes. I would gladly pay a little more for some quality bikes.

Ive enjoyed vacationing on Hilton Head Island since the mid 1980s and have rented great bikes from Pedals Bicycles since they opened over 25 years ago. My husband and Ive always been exceptionally pleased with the quality and condition of the bikes we rented from Pedals, as well as the outstanding customer service. Only once in all our years of renting did we have a problem with my husbands bike. We called Pedals and within 15 minutes they arrived where we were biking near Harbourtown and exchanged bikes. We would be happy to highly recommend Pedals to anyone interested in renting bikes on Hilton Head Island.

We use Pedals every visit to the Island. Easy In and out. I must mention they pick up the bicycles from your hotel. No hassle service and friendly staff.

This place did not give us a refund after we did not receive said bicycles because they did not tell us where they were being delivered. They also blamed us for not telling us where the bikes would be delivered. I would not recommend this place at all. Then one of the workers decided to argue with us on the phone and in end still charged us a delivery fee of $15 even though we did not receive the bicycles.

We woke up yesterday to discover two of our bikes were gone, despite the fact we still had days of rentals on them. They were secured, and so we assumed it had been a mistake on behalf of Pedals and that they had incorrectly collected them early. This was upsetting, as it presented a hassle.This was not the case, but regardless, Pedals handled our concerns with care, professionally, and in a timely manner. They made sure we had bicycles for the remainder of our trip, and we are prepared now to ride on a sandy coseway of customer service glee.We will be using Pedals again.

Rented three bikes from them. Not only did they forget to deliver one of the bikes, when they did deliver it, the chain was completely rusted out, and my daughter couldnt even get the pedals to turn. I had to call again to have them come out to replace it. It put a damper on our plans that day since I had to head back to our condo to be there when they came to replace it.I asked for a partial refund for the hassle. They denied me saying they were just following orders from their boss and they were not even slightly apologetic for the hassle or disruption it caused.There are plenty of places to rent from for the same price. Give your business to someplace else.

This was my first visit to Hilton Head Island, so I thought what a cool way to roam the island by bike, so I first stopped by at another bike rental, and was disappointed by there service and price, so I decided to give this place a try...I was looking to rent a bike for just one day, on the cheap side, and get some tips on Routes etc. So my review is based on those needs.I dont remember how much they charge for a week, but for 24 hours they charge $12, and that includes a lock, but not a basket, a basket is an extra dollar... If you decide to bring back the bike after closing time: no worries, you can just lock it up in front of the store to one of the racks out there. They would also let you park your car, in their parking lot.Bottom line: not only were they extremely helpful and insightful, I also got from them some tips on local eaterys,So thank you pedals Bicycles for making my trip to Hilton Head Island so much more fun, and pleasant.

This is a local bike rental store but its so much more. My wifes bicycle pedal assembly came loose on an 18 mile trek to and from Coligny beach and we asked if they could help us. They had a special tool for tightening the assembly and sold us the tool so we could repair it and continue our adventure. Great customer service.

I rented a bike for my daughter via the online picture, and it turned out to be too small. I stopped by the store to find out if I could exchange it for a larger bike. Five minutes later I was out the door. No extra fees, and no hassles.

Decent bikes, decent service, decent price. I was not confident there was a better outfitter on Hilton Head. We acquired two tagalong bikes with a child attachment, and they worked well. Rode them 2+ miles to Harbour Town!

As a local resistent to HHI - I called to set up a week long rental on a bike - This is the first time I have ever been hangup by a business - the person on the phone agured that they would not delivery a bike just 5 miles away becouse of getting a pass to the plantation. When I indicated that I could get them a pass to enter the plantation she hung up on me.So much for supporting this local business.

The bike was great! The service not so much. The girl that waited on me did not seem to like her job so much. However, I would rent from them again.

A big thank you to the crew here who helped me repair a flat from a hotel rental on 12/21-- did all the work themselves, even loaned me their phone when my cell died.

Two bike rides, two flat tires, called and was incredibly rude and unhelpful.

Use them at your own risk. They dont keep records and they could possibly really screw you over. Very unprofessional and disorganized. They need a system. Please tell them that computers are not that expensive these days. Go to Billys. IMO.

Unfortunately, I forgot I had vowed never to return to Pedals. After very poor treatment several years ago, I returned to rent several beach cruisers. The store attendants are extremely rude, and bicycles are filthy with excess grease and beach sand. Attendants surliness is unmatched; they are unwelcoming and barely helpful. Do not do business with this establishment; there are many options in Hilton Head.

We have rented from pedals for years and while they were good years ago anf with a new owner I am hoping it will be good again.
