Weve used American Van Lines for both an in-state move and an out-of-state move, and I cant say enough about their professionalism and helpfulness! Their customer service folks are quick to respond and easy to work with, and their moving crews are reliable and get the job done well and on time. All our furniture (including my grandmothers piano) and appliances were handled with care. Id definitely recommend them!

Basically, I was given a quote of $5100 to move long distance with American van lines. I went room to room and described every furniture to the agent. When the driver showed up and started moving items to the truck, I received a call from the company telling me the price is now going to be $9000+ instead because the driver advised them I had more boxes than I told them . Found out he told them I had 90+ more boxes, I asked why he would do that, he adv me it would be cheaper to add more boxes than go by the weight. What I am having a hard time understanding is why I would have to pay for extra weight if I already went over all the items with the agent over the phone. And no I did not have extra boxes. I asked her why don’t she pull the call and see exactly what the discussion was with the agent, she told me the driver is already there, and it would take to long to pull the calls. I also adv her I took some major items off like a large toolbox, treadmill, patio table, exercise bike, etc yet still my bill is over $9000. She was no help over the phone. So I decided to call back spoke with another agent who gave me the option to have them actually weighed, which I choose to go ahead and do. I followed the driver to the weight station, thank god! Because the weight was way under What they wanted to charge me for, and the price I ended up paying was $5800 in actual weight instead of Over $9000. I had no problem with the two temp guys that helped the truck driver who actually works for the company. But the driver and customer service on the phone was the worst experience I have ever had with service, One of the companies I received a quote from (Allied moving), but Trying to save money I went with American van lines, because they were cheaper, big mistake, it was not worth it in the end. I should have gone with allied, they came out and gave me a quote for $6000. Received my items and my flat screen broken, filed a claim, still waiting to find out what is going on.

1.American Van Lines (AVL)was available in April 2020 during the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic for our move.2. THE CREW arrived on time on April 25 and they delivered our things as scheduled on May 1 ...maybe because the work should have been handled much more professionally and carefully.3. I have rated our move with AVL as a ONE.a. You only get 30 days to notify them of any problems. We are still unpacking because life happens....There are some dishes labeled for the kitchen which has been unpacked, that are missing and art I have not been able to locate.b.My favorite armoire has a big hole in the top and the door closure has been permanently damaged so delivery team (not the same team as the packing team) told me to put great pressure on it to close the door.c. Lamps were damaged, other home decor items. Not able to use again.d.Although there were 3.5 baths in the house. I labeled the master bath off limits with a sign on the door. One of the team members walked past the guest bath in the hallway, never asked which bath he could use, walked to the back of the house and proceeded to use the master bath for a #2 with our personal items exposed during the COVID pandemic. We will never recommend American Van Lines for others to use.

Recently we moved my mother from one state to another. If, really when, I move again...I will definitley contact Leslie Jones at American Van Lines. Her customer service was superb and she answered every question (and I mean every hard, silly, crazy question) that I had. She never rushed me and never made me feel like I was getting on her nerves. William Cox and another young man arrived at my mothers home and loaded a 3 bedroom house, including living room, family room, and library in under 4 hours. Before we knew it they were loaded and on their way with the belongings. They arrived the next day and unloaded the truck straight into the storage unit - boom done. Easy. Thanks to Danny Mitchell at American Van Lines who connected me wih Leslie who sent two guys who loaded the truck with no noise and no fuss in outrageous southern heat. Easy Move! Thanks AVL - you were worth every dime!

Was given an estimate of $800, the final charge was $1800. i feel like i got swindled. was promised a callback numerous times and they would never call me back. the actual movers were great people, despite their vocal frustration with some of my requests and the size of the workload in general. i feel like i should have been given a better estimate upon arrival so i, as the customer, could make the choices on what to pack and not pack.*UPDATE* was finally able to speak with a manager and received a $100 credit.

The movers were not only friendly, but professional. They arrived promptly, began an inventory of my items and did their thing. The whole experience of moving from one city and state to another was amazingly smooth with this company and I would recommend them to anyone not only for their professional service and demeanor but their reasonable pricing!

Absolutely horrid moving company. Got a quote of 6000$, on moving day they came back with a document stating 13000 after they evaluated our tiny apartment! They said there were more items than expected! Mind you my wife and I have minimal furniture and this is a small 1 bedroom apartment. We would have went with a different mover if they didnt already force us to put money down upfront. To make things worst the employees took breaks outside our home to smoke marijuana. Absolute joke.

We hired your moving co. because Im 70 years old and not able to do this myself. My problem is they didnt have enough room for all my inventory on the van they brought and had to leave some behind. My new home is 3 hours away and I have about 4 pick-up truck loads I need to move myself. I told the movers I would pay extra if they could complete the move and they said that wasnt an option.

We watched these guys move our neighbors stuff and it was scary! Throwing items down to another guy and dropping stuff in the dirt. Not paying attention to structures and damaging property here at our apartments. They did not seem like professionals because the language me and my child heard was not professional.
