I usually don’t write reviews. However, I went today and had a purrfect time. The baristas were very polite. The inside is decorated very nicely. The drink tasted good. I felt safe, comfortable, welcomed, and happy. 10/10 would recommend. Come in pet some cats, and have a good time. If you’re debating coming in DO IT!!!=^._.^=
Wonderful place to get your kitty fix! Clean and well organized! Cats look to be well cared for, healthy, and happy! Staff was super friendly and professional!
This caffe is totally awesome! The drinks were hands down one of the best i’ve had from a local caffe and the cat room was clean and tidy( which is hard to do with 5+ cats ) The lady working at the register was super nice and encouraged us to check more things out and stay for longer than we planned. I would definitely recommend but please do not bring your little children here. A 1-3 year old came into the room and made all of the kitties scared stomping and screaming - please leave your kids home and wait until they are older and won’t disrupt everyone.
So cute! Worth the money and the cats are even better. Not too many cats here when I went there was about 4, which is a great thing because that means they’re getting adopted and finding their forever homes. Definitely coming back soon!!
Amazing place cats are very well taken care of and food is good.
If you need a place to go to forget your troubles for an hour, this is an amazing place! The kitties are very laid-back but become active when interacted with. Overall we had a great time and Im glad we could help support the rescue!
Cats were great, although some were not very clean! About half of them had poopy paws and smelled pretty bad. Didn’t wanna pick them up for that reason. Could do better with keeping up with the cat’s hygiene.
Sososo cute!! service was great and the kittens/cats were so cute!! prices were reasonable as well
Clean, comfy space with great coffee, cute gift area. Fabulous kitties!
We just adopted a cat from here. Amazing Service. Staff are amazing. Would recommend 👍
Booked a private party and they were able to accommodate our needs in a short timeframe. Thank you again!!
So fun. The drinks were delish and there were so many kittens it was overwhelming in the best of ways.
Had such a happy time at Happy Cat Cafe! The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the coffee I ordered was fantastic. Of course, the best part was of the experience was discovering and playing with all the cats!
My significant other and I were driving and found this place. We went in, order some drinks, and got to go in for 30 minutes with the cats. We took our kids later that day for 1 hour. You can book ahead online, book for a private party, and if you want you can adopt anyone of the cats in the room. We also learned that a lot of the profits go directly towards the cats. This is a very relaxing place to go, it can really help you relieve some stress, and helps the animals. I would highly recommend going there. Lastly, the price is reasonable as well.
So much fun!!! Cute trendy decor and such good drinks!! Lots of nice souvenirs also!! The cats definitely love all of the toys and environment they live in, happy cats make happy customers!!
It was so much fun hanging out with the cats. Cat therapy is the best! Reading is more fun with a soft cat to pet.
Really nice, had parking, I do wish there was a monthly or yearly pass that that would let you make reservations without the fee each time.
Great concept, but the cats are feral so they didnt seem interested in playing with anyone that came in, the snacks were crappy prepackaged ones (unlike the pic I saw of bakery type things on Google) and the drinks were Kuerig coffee and pop, no diet option except for La Croix. So I feel like I paid to go to a cat cafe that didnt have cafe food and I couldnt play or pet cats.
Totes adorbs to say the least. And they make their own nut milk!
The kitties are so cute~
Friendly employees, clean space, and super cute cats :) my iced vanilla latte was delicious
Even though you make an appointment you have to share your slot with other people, which we werent aware of nor were we comfortable with, so there were four strangers in the room with us and made our whole experience very awkward. They also didnt serve any coffee and only had free water or juice boxes that you paid for. They told us that they didnt have the licensing to serve drinks/coffee, which kind of seems essential to the whole cafe part. Overall it was a very disappointing experience and my boyfriend and I ended up leaving about 45 mins through our appointment to go to the Aquarium gallery and supply store next door to the cafe, which was honestly a way better experience and I would recommend them more than this cafe.
My daughter and I walked in for a 30 minute session with the cats. The drinks are self serve only, nothing fancy but good tea and Keurig selection. The staff is friendly, but the cats are so cute. Our 30 minutes were over too soon. Looking forward to another visit, probably at opening time instead because the staff said thats when the cat are more playful. There were 13 in the room but half were hiding.
While I thought it would be a real cafe to order a drink and not a keurig machine, I came to love on some cats. This grumpy, antisocial cat named Neighbor wouldn’t let anyone touch her at first, but after staying still long enough she took a nap on me and I wish I could’ve taken her home. Alas, with a dog and 3 cats already it wasn’t an option. Broke my heart to leave her. Hope she’s got a forever family to feel safe napping on now. 💚
Best coffee Ive had in a while. The cats are great too!
It was awesome. Wish I could have brought all the kitties home
I came here having been to many cat cafes and this one was great!
Fun little spot really enjoyed my time
Visited the cafe last weekend for the Cats and Canvas event. It was an overall great experience. We were able to spend two hours painting with all materials provided, and there was an instructor helping to guide us through creating a specific painting (though you were certainly allowed to just paint whatever you wanted) that we got to take home with us. And the whole time we were in a room filled with adorable cats/kittens that we were free to pet and interact with. It was a lot of fun, and I definitely left feeling happy. This is an awesome place doing fantastic work for cats and customers alike - keep up the good work, guys!
Excellent experience. Very innovative idea
The coffee is great, very friendly batista!
I went to the Happy Cat Cafe for their first DIY night, and it was awesome! We got unlimited free drinks and snacks, and (most importantly) unlimited snuggle time with the kitties! Very cute place. My only concern is that it is not close to downtown via walking. It took me about a half hour to walk from near Van Andel Arena. Other than that, its a fantastic place. 😻
Amazing staff and the cats were super friendly!
Really like this place but its a bit more expensive than expected. Especially when there arent as many cats.
I really enjoyed my visit to Happy Cat Cafe. It was around noon and was fairly empty at the time, but the staff was very friendly and the place was clean. Most of the cats were younger at the time, but they were very friendly and active. After not having a cat of my own for a long time it was nice to have one curl up on my lap for a nap. The fact that the cats are up for adoption means that theyre doing a great service here, too.
I always enjoy visiting cat cafes when I travel, so its good to know they Grand Rapids has one! Theyre doing this in partnership with local shelters. The group of cats is constantly changing because so many get adopted from here into happy homes! The cat room is separate from the cafe area. The cat room can be full on an early Friday afternoon, although it got quieter later in the afternoon.
UPDATE 4/2/21: In response to your reply, Kati, the complain was thrown out because you had already removed ALL the cats and there were no cats at your location at the time. I dont need a complementary visit, and I already asked you not to contact me again several times via email and text, so no, I will not be emailing you either. Your psychotic messages and threats to me from MONTHS ago are plenty more than enough for me.A former volunteer of this cat cafe reached out for help with some kittens after a kitten died at the cafe, and the owner refused to take them to the vet... the volunteer found them help but unfortunately two more passed as well. After asking questions regarding a fundraiser that was presented as being for vet bills, all of my comments were deleted and I was banned from the fb page. Shortly after, I was left a threatening voicemail message from Kati, the owner, because for some reason she is obsessed with saying that the cat cafe in Kalamazoo is her competition and that I am out to get her and shut down the cat cafe in GR, which is absolutely untrue.Ive said it before and Ill say it again, I will NEVER not speak for those who do not have a voice, including the three kittens who died under her care - the health and well being of cats at ANY cafe, rescue, someones house, whatever... I will do my due diligence if I believe they are not being cared for appropriately. We got into a text conversation and she admitted that she didnt know the kittens were even there in the first place, and that she did indeed refuse to take them to the vet. I was told make a complaint to MDARD (MI Dept of Agriculture) if youre so concerned so I did. The complaint led nowhere because the cats were all removed from the cafe by that time because there was also an outbreak of ringworm. She repeatedly told me (via text) that she would sell the cafe, turn it into a restaurant, repeatedly asked me if I would buy it, and that she wouldnt be doing the cat thing anymore... now come to find out they are planning on reopening in December...I genuinely hope that there are now appropriate protocols in place and that the health and well being of the cats at this cafe are taken more seriously if this is the case. Despite what she may think, and repeatedly tell people in order to play the victim, animal welfare organizations do not have competition and I wish all the success to the kitties at this cafe, but I cannot standby without making my concerns known, and if the owner will not listen to/cooperate with rescue partners, not allow anyone to ask questions on a public social media platform, threaten other business owners, and lie over and over again while offering to sell it all... I cannot support their continued operation.Overall - the health and safety of the actual animals at this cafe is clearly not the priority, and the owner is exceptionally unprofessional. Assuming she will just continue to say that Im trying to ruin her business (not true), and tell people that we think were in a competition (not true), again, I will say one more final time that the health and well being of the actual live animals at an establishment that houses animals should be the priority... and when it isnt, helpless kittens suffer.
Nice place
Very nice manager, lots of soft kitties to pet. Partners with local artists and shelters to get fur friends adopted! And, they let you make your own drinks, so its never made wrong! Theyre very sweet there.
Kittens are so cute!
I went here with a group of friends, and it was very enjoyable. All the cats in the cafe are adoptable, and they do a good job of making sure there arent too many people in the room at one time. Keeps the kitties happier! The volunteers are so pleasant and are happy to talk about the individual cats with you. You do have to pay $10 to play with the cats for an hour, but you get a complimentary beverage to drink, and you know the money is being put toward a good cause. (Helping the cats get adopted!)
Great customer service!!! Very clean!!! Went in expecting one kitty, and ended up adopting two kitties!!! Staff was amazing!!! Highly recommend!
Happy Cat Cafe is doing a great thing and helping find forever homes for cats in West Michigan. The facility is really nice, and the staff and volunteers are always really friendly. There are really fun events here all the time, and its so wonderful to even just go and hang out with the cats for an hour.
This facility truly lives up to its name. It is my happy space. The first of its kind around here, this cat cafe has done wonders for so many people who have adopted amazing animals, but of course also for the animals who get to socialize with people and other cats while they await their forever home. Drinks, hot and cold, are offered along with your purchase of a session in the cat room. Snacks are a dollar and available for purchase before or after meeting with the kitties there is also a ton of merchandise available for purchase, some supporting local artists and organizations. The whole vibe of the place is just wonderful. And the staff and volunteers are exceptional!
Love this place! It is really fun to play and see all of the cats. There are also beverages and food items in the cafe part of it.
Come for the cats! No fresh coffee/tea, just a Keurig. They have a few other packages snacks you can buy. Fun time and chance to get to know cats that are up for adoption!
Definetely the best thing ive ever done. I mean, like, hot cocoa? Cute kittens? Cat themed merchandise? Yes. I could spend $100 here and not regret a single purchase. Not to mention that this is an amazing way to raise awareness about helping and caring for animals while also finding forever homes for these sweet little kittens! They deserve every ounce of love I can share.10/10, would pet again.
Came up to grand Rapids for my birthday and made a reservation for 2. Originally made my appointment for 3pm-4 weeks in advance and was contacted by the owners informing me of a birthday party of lots of children during the same time a few weeks later.VERY appreciative of that kindness as both my friend and myself don’t care for small children and appreciated the ease of changing our reservation time for the same day at a time that wasn’t as crowded with children. The cats during our visit weren’t extremely social (very much up to the cats and their personalities at your time of visit) but non the less, very calming to watch and occasionally get one that would play or seem interested in your presence.I highly suggest making an appointment online as you get an hour with the animals vs a walk-in where you only get half an hour and is 3$ less. Volunteer staff is wonderful and social. Recommend for a place to visit if you’re in the GR area and like cats.
I went to this cafe expecting to get a nice coffee and to pet a cat. This really isn’t a ‘cafe’. There is not a barista on staff; it’s self serve. You pay $7 per person for 30 min to play with cats that are up for adoption. Limited seating options. Small room. Could of played with cats that are up for adoption for free at the shelter and donated them $14 and played with cats for as long as I wanted. It was clean and staff was friendly, but I had higher expectations of the ‘cafe’ part.
It was a fun experience. Love the henna tattoo! Next time it will be painting with cats!
I absolutely love this place. It was the first cat cafe I went to, and it really set an expectation for other cat cafes. I definitely love visiting here. And the merchandise is adorable! The drinks are nothing too fancy, but still good. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are all options. And the greatest prize I buy when Im there, is cat wine! My cats love it. And theres more than one open.
Phnomenal
My kids and I stopped in today for the first time and had a great visit. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was very welcoming. When our time was coming to an end both kids didnt want to leave. We will definitely come back!
What an awesome place! The staff was kind and knowledgeable. They have a variety of cat-themed merchandise, and its pretty cheap! Nice selection of drinks. I got to see and pet 8/10 cats during my visit there. Will definitely be returning!
Wonderful experience! Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend!!!!!
Its a nice cozy and warm place, has a very pleasant feeling. Great coffee. Enjoyed going to see cats and kittens play in thier play area.
A wonderful experience. They have free coffee (decaf available), juice, and bottled water for customers. If you need a milk alternative I would suggest bringing your own because there wasnt one available. But they just opened yesterday so cut them some slack. Theres logo merchandise you can buy. The cafe and cat room are completely separate. Kittens were adorable and so much fun to play with. I plan on coming back.
Fiancée and I absolutely loved the cats and canvas event on Valentines Day. The cats are sweet and the staff is welcoming—definitely a great date for cat-lovers, and this is coming from a dog person!
Everyone should visit and support the Happy Cate Cafe!! Its a great place to have a cup of coffee or tea and spend some quality time with some great cats from Carols Ferals. Happy Cat Cafe is a perfect way to spend some close time with a cat if youre looking to adopt or to spend time with cats if youre a cat lover and cant have one of your own. There are a lot of fun events throughout the week and the room is always stocked with games and actives for humans to enjoy as well as lots of toys for you to play with the cats.
Finally open!! The cafe is very cozy and nicely decorated. They have 11 great cats that are all adoptable (most of them are kittens). The cafe part isnt open yet but they include a drink with your admission to the cat room. 😊Definitely will be back!
Great service! If you need to reschedule, they will allow you to for a later time. The keurig was set up for a free coffee. The staff is friendly and it is a great place to hang out with cats.
Its all about the cats. Its a cute place with a little gift section full of car themed things. The kitty room is nice. Theyve already adopted out over 70 cats since opening in the summer. The only problem I have is that the cafe part is a self serve Keurig. But the kitties are worth it.The owner is very kind, and will offer up any information you need if youre looking to adopt. The cat room is full of toys that the cats love to play with. And since its such a comfortable place for the cats, the grumpy ones are typically at ease. Ill definitely go back again, but Ill just bring my own coffee.
Great place to go to hang out with cats for awhile. They are all adoptable as well. Very friendly, some are playful, some are shy. You get to hang out in a room full of cats and interact with them. Mostly from Carols Ferals.
Here is my Happy Cat Cafe story. I was having a bad day at work. Just not feeling great, and then I went to the Cat Cafe. After 1 hour of drinking coffee and petting cats, my mood changed. I was happier, feeling more energetic, and just in a better mood/outlook altogether. This place is more than just a cafe, it is medicine to the soul through beautiful little furry friends.
I work at Lex Facial Bar and Spa located in the Baker Lofts so I drive past Happy Cat everyday. And today I spent my lunch hour here and will absolutely be back! So peaceful and relaxing and the cats are a plus! Thank you for being so kind, and I’ll see you soon!
We had a blast playing with the cats! Very cute space and very clean. The point of this place is to play with the cats, not the beverages. And the money goes to help the cats which is wonderful. Very cute merchandise for sale also!
No offense, from what I remember, this place has been advertising their opening and ask for donations. for probably over a year. They still havent open yet. Would love to see the owner give us a certain date, or at least change the status on google search. Im sure I am not the only one who thought they already open and made a trip there.
Love this place, the cats are so adorable. Hopeful to adopt from here one day..
Cats were super cute and the staff was so friendly! An absolutely purrfect experience!
Had to check this place out! Soooo many friendly cats! Loads of fun. We were a little surprised that the coffee was instant, and the other beverages were just bottled. But we also understand that the focus is the cats, and they did not disappoint! If you stopped at this place for coffee, you should just pet a cat and then go elsewhere for your coffee.
We absolutely love going to the Cafe. Very clean. The cats are very well cared for. We have even adopted a cat from there! Cant wait to watch the Cafe grow!
Seriously, coolest cat place ever. Although some cats are new and unsure about being there, the veterans are comfortable and seem happier than any adoptable cats ive ever met. The owners are working hard to bring full service coffee and cafe style food. They had a hard uphill battle, but they did it, and still rocking it!
This place was so fun. If you dont have kitties and need a fluffy snuggle this is the place to go. My husband and I had a blast.
The cat room was smaller then I thought it was going to be. But it was super clean and the cats were sweet. We had a good time.
