Been going to the guys at Foremost since they opened and won’t go anywhere else. I used to travel an hour+ to find a good barber but then I moved back to GR and I was thrilled when foremost opened. Prior to COVID you would have to wait up to 2hrs to get a trim but they’ve adjusted to a scheduling system and I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. Outstanding quality and legit great people. I’ve been returning for YEARS and don’t plan to find another barber anytime soon.

This place is incredible. I went because my brother recommended it, and said it was well worth the price, and he was right. I got a great haircut, and the atmosphere was really chill. With some barbershops, the vibe is so overpoweringly masculine that, as a trans guy, makes you unsure of how you’ll be treated. The pride flag above the door set me at ease immediately. The guy who did my hair didn’t really say much, but I’m also pretty quiet so that was fine by me. Definitely my new go-to!

Ok, so I dont get my hair cut here, but the awesome guys who run this place let me hang around while they cut my husbands hair. Youre not going to be disappointed, no matter who cuts your hair.

I have tried barbershops all over town, and this is the best by FAR. My only complaint is the wait time, but that is a sign of a good barbershop. They also offer appointments now due to Covid, which takes care of waiting.Good prices, great music, interesting decor, and most importantly, great cuts. They are consistently good, they do not rush you in and out, and they dont rely all on clippers like many others do.Do yourself a favor, skip out on all the other barbershops in GR and give these guys your money. I experimented with places that charged less $, but the extra few bucks is 100% worth it.

This is the first Barbershop Ive been to since moving to the area and Ill definitely be returning. Walked in around 4:15 on Tuesday and had no wait. Very clean and professional shop with a great feel. Had a pleasant conversation while getting my haircut and was out in a half hour. Abundance of metered street parking around the corner.

Best spot in town for a haircut! These guys saved me from the horrors of Great Clips. Unfortunately, my hair was demolished from a local Great Clips and I stopped here to get everything fixed up. All of these guys give an excellent hair cut. I first went there in the fall for a beard trim....was very satisfied and visited again for another. They had my trust. Ive had only one hair stylist in almost twenty years, but she doesnt like trimming my beard. Today I needed a trim and a haircut and I thought I would give Foremost a chance. WOW...Andrew was great. I told him what Ive done in the past and how Im thinking of changing it up, but I also told him that I would give him artistic freedom to make any changes. The very best beard trim & haircut Ive ever had. Im very pleased and highly recommend the shop.

This is the best barbershop in GR! All four barbers do a stand up job. I have been going here for the past two years and havent had a bad haircut yet. They spend most of the time on the sides and fades, which I like. It does get busy, but it is worth the wait. Make sure to sign the chalk board when you walk in and pay with cash.

Cool dudes who know how to cut hair. I have no idea how to convey what I want for a haircut and these guys were able to decipher my nonsense. Best part was when I came back the next time (3 weeks later?) they remembered me and how I got my hair cut last time! Def will be my Barber shop of choice.

Really great service and a cool environment, kind of like an old school barber shop but modern. The guys take their time to make sure that your hair looks exactly how you wanted it cut. A little pricy for some ($23 for a haircut) but definitely worth it.

Absolute best place to get a haircut in GR. I’ve been coming here for three years and haven’t once left disappointed. They are all phenomenal barbers and their shop has a lot of added bonuses like good music, a comfortable atmosphere, and no forced awkward small talk. (They are all nice guys and will hold a conversation if you want, but I know some people who hate the forced small talk at other shops.) $20 is more than most chain places but I have found that these guys are absolutely worth the extra $5-$10. You can’t beat the quality and atmosphere they offer for the price they charge.

This is the only place my husband goes to for a hair cut. The staff is very friendly, they dont mind me sitting there waiting for him to be done. There is always a list of people waiting, but the wait is never very long. W have never had a bad experience. Its a great place for men to go get a nice hair cut that doesnt cost to much, or take to long.

Stopped in the other day for a fade and a trim on top. I dont remember the guy that cut my hair but he spent a good amount of time perfecting the sides and making sure the fade was on point. One of the best haircuts Ive gotten by far and Im super picky about haircuts. Will be coming back for sure.

Great haircut. Brandon did my cut and it was one of the best I have had. Dont show up right before they close as they can get busy and might have to turn you away. Straight edge shave on your neckline is a great touch.

One of the worst haircuts I’ve ever had from a barber. I looked up the reviews and saw great things so I thought I’d try. Asked for a 1,2 fade and got a 1 all around. I would have been fine with that but I had to cut more off when I got home due to an uneven shave. They also won’t do a hard part which is the main reason I go to a barber. I’d honestly be better off going to super cuts. Don’t waste your money here.

Its a nice place, good atmosphere. I may not have been expressing what I wanted as directly as I could have been but I thought I was. Long wait, plus a lot of time wasted trimming stuff I had already expressed to be completely shaved off. Went in to have my big winter beard trimmed. Told him to get rid of everything under my jaw line cut starters. Just kept trimming and shaping all around. Finally got him to cut off what I wanted after 45 min. And then I didnt have time for him to finish it with a straight razor. Basically my purpose being there. In the end several parts of the thickness of whats left of my beard were uneven. And none of my real major goals were finished. On the bright side he only charged me $10....

Long wait times are the only struggle, but if you are strategic with when you go, you can usually avoid super long waits.

After coming here for the last 6 months, I will not be returning, as the quality of haircuts do not make up for the poor customer service. I recently walked in at 4:45pm for a haircut and was told the barbers were not cutting any more hair for the day. After inquiring why, given that their sign and website say they are open until 7:00pm, the barber replied “well I can’t cut hair and clean up at the same time.”After walking to another barber, I ran into another person who had also been waiting for a haircut at Foremost. This individual informed me that the barbers had thrown a “hissy fit” to the other customers after I had left.Needless to say, that will be my last visit to Foremost. An average, cash-only barber shop cannot afford to have such dismal customer service.

These guys do a great job when it comes to hair cuts. I pretty much always get a buzzcut, but Ive found its harder to get it done right in most places. Not so here.I only gave them a 4-star rating, though, due to their straight-razor shaves. On the whole, they get the job done, but when compared to some places Ive frequented over the years, the quality of the shaves is good, but not quite 5-star good. Basically, when I do get a shave, Ive found its not that close of a shave as Ive had elsewhere. Also, the hot towel prep / cold towel post-shave hasnt been applied long enough or consistently enough (Ive had it where it was missed) to prevent razor burn more often than not.I do love going here and the guys are great!

Better get there at least an hour and a half before they close or they more than likely will ask you to leave because they get overwhelmed easily. Although, if they are in the mood to give you a cut, they do an excellent job.

Ive been in Grand Rapids for 5 years now and have had great difficulty finding a real mens barber shop that does quality work and performs straight razor service on the back of your neck (like a real barber is trained to do).When I walked into the shop, I signed my name on the board with the chalk and had a seat while I waited for an available chair. They had some good reading material while I waited (Im a sucker for national geographic), and one thing I couldnt help but notice was the personable attention each barber was giving to their client in both service and good conversation which made me even more confident I was in the right place.Brennan was the first to have a chair available and he did an excellent job fixing the massacre a previous shop which will go unnamed did to my hair. He was personable, friendly, and showed attention to detail including a straight razor shave to the back of the neck.I walked out thoroughly satisfied and will be taking my hair cut business to Foremost from now on. $20 is well worth it to make sure your appearance is sharp and distinguished as its a reflection on your character, and Foremost is both sharp and distinguished which shows in their service.

I will never come here again. The only reason I came in here was because my barber from a different barbershop was on vacation so I really needed to go somewhere to get my haircut. First, when I came in and sat down they had me write my name on a chalkboard. After writing my name down I almost felt obligated to stay because my name was on there. Being Mexican, I felt a complete undiverse environment as I saw a whole barbershop just filled with white men. I dont want to sound rude but everyone in there looked like the most hipster people I have ever seen. When I saw a barber finish up with a haircut and the customer walked away from the chair I came up immediately and the barber said Wow man, next time dont come up until I call your name. What a great thing to say to your customers. I assumed the chalkboard was just to keep everyone in order not so we could be called up like were on the price is right. Anyways, I explained that I usually get a 4 on top, and 3 on the sides, a line up, and usually a fade. They said they had no idea how to do any of that, but they can do a fade. What kind of barbershop doesnt know how to line up? Everyone else on the reviews claims about how they can do such good fades but trust me if you went to a n actual barbershop with talented barbers youll see what a real fade looks like. The fades they do at Foremost are at best a 2/10 rating. I paid twenty dollars for a bad haircut and I walked out looking worse than what I looked coming in. Id rather pay 50 dollars at my barbershop instead of the 20 I paid at Foremost. Ill never be coming back again. Five days later I went to my barbershop because my barber had come back from vacation and he fixed me up, he said that the haircut they gave me looked like someone that had only cut hair for a week. I couldnt agree more.

So I drove through rush hour traffic after work to go get a haircut because I really needed one. Walked in the door at 6:05pm and as Im about to put my name on the chalkboard one of the barbers nonchalantly tells me that their list is full for the day. You dont close until 7. Is my money not good to you? Its bad practice to turn away a paying customer during operation hours. All I wanted was to relax and get my ears lowered. Thats how you lose customers. Ive only gone to you guys for my haircuts, but now I wont be.

Terrible customer service; overpriced, sub-par haircuts. These guys are lazy and dont want to work! Ive been there twice at around 6:00 (theyre open till 7) and they say they are closing up early and wont cut my hair. Another time I went at around 3pm, and they were closing the shop for an hour and a half so all three of them could go to lunch at the same time. The haircuts are overpriced, they play awful music, they only take cash, and they make fun of their patrons as soon as they leave the store - right in front of their other customers! These idiots dont know how to run a business. I would avoid at all costs.

Have looked and looked around GR for someone who can do as good a job as the SFO place. After many regrettable cuts I have finally found one!! Ive gotten my hair cut here 3x. Their cuts are okay. However, each time Ive been in I had to come back the next day.The first time I showed up at 5:30pm, they said they were closing early and turned me away. The second time I showed up at 4:00p and there was a note on the door saying they decided to close for the day. Today I went in at 5:45p and they were again closing early, and turned me away.So far Ive been here 7x and only gotten 3 hair cuts. I dont plan on trying again.
