The community is very convenient for Soldiers communting to Fort Bragg, takes about 15 minutes. The office staff and maintenance staff are very professional and sweet. However, the AC Units and toliets are outdated. As a result, the PWC bills are extremely high for a two bedroom. Ive been paying 230- 400 dollar PWC Bills . I enjoy the quiet community and I feel safe. The additional, amenities such as the pool excess doesnt exsist. Also, adter the first year the apartment community insists of going up on rent despite the on going issuses with replacing AC units, pool excess, and other issues. I understand everything os about more money but not when you have loyal customer thats been paying 400 PWC bills for at least 4 months without corre ting the issues. Other than that i like my apartment.

Pleasantly surprised at overall size of rooms! The living area is a really nice size compared to other apartments that I’ve seen and has a fireplace. The kitchen is a decent size but most importantly it is laid out efficiently and there is a ton of storage. Property is well-maintained and has green space surrounding the property for a nice setting. They also have storage units available if you need extra space. Had a great experience with the new management.

Love this apartment complex! It’s so quiet and the neighbors are friendly. It’s small enough that you don’t feel like you’re in a typical apartment complex. Rent is on the cheaper side so that’s definitely nice as well.

This apartment complex is one of the best! Ever since Jamestown Commons took over management of the property, my wife and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about it! They are quick with work orders and making sure the area stays clean. We just signed up for another year long lease with them. They are affordable, close to base, and great quality for the price.I would recommend this place to any Fort Bragg Soldiers looking to get alittle further from base and wants a safe gated community for their family.

I currently live here and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Unless you’re okay with the occasional roach, the property manger not returning your calls or emails unitl she’s ready and dealing with terrible maintenance.Prior to moving in we could get in contact with Lauren whenever we needed. That stopped the week we moved in. The first night we saw a roach, we made a call to her she gave us a pest control number and they did nothing. Our heat didn’t work and we moved in the apartment in January, maintenance came a week after calling and said just close our vents in the rooms we aren’t using. They are currently saying the same thing and it’s the end of November. I have had better leasing and property mangers in campus housing. Lauren is not conducive to the growth of this apartment community. The apartment is spacious, parking is limited, you have to pay to use the one pool they have for the apartments, and condos. The gate barely works. They have roaches in multiple apartments. If i could rate this place a zero I would. I will be writing another review when I move out.

I am going on my third year living here. They have raised the rent every year. This year it was raised almost $60. You pay $16 a month for trash pick up and there is CONSTANTLY a trash problem. There are NO amenities here other than it is gated. We no longer have access to the pool because THEY have not paid their dues go the hoa.

I have lived in Karen Lake apartments for a year and it has been less then enjoyable. The day we moved in we saw a roach. And continued to see roaches. The problem was not resolved, I was told it’s because we lived near a wood line and I might see them from time to time. There is not on site maintenance people, so you have to call and hope that they get to you in a timely manner. Not only do the maintenance people come whenever they feel like it(which is usually late). They do not fix anything. Karen Lake apartments are spacious, but I rather have no roaches and maintenance actually fix the problems that occur. I would not recommend these apartments to anyone. And I hope that the property manager is changed or she changes because customer service is a 0.

I have been a resident of this apartment complex for a year, and i wish I never moved in.The apartments are spacious, the ceilings are vaulted and thats as good as I can get.The parking is sufficient, you will randomly have roaches. At first I thought it was just us maybe because no one lived in there for a while, until they continued to come and I spoke with other residence and they had the same issue.Maintenance is sweet but truly un helpful. As you can see I wrote a review prior to this, and that was the quickest time I have ever gotten a response, from the leasing agent while living here. Our first month living here our car was towed by accident, due to the owners of the condos in the back. How that happened I have no idea. You will have to get PWC for your electricity, please do not expect a bill lower than 120. That has to do with how old everything is in the apartments. The air works so terribly that my downstairs neighbors would open their front door during the summer. During the winter prepare to freeze unless you close all vents expect the room you would like to be in.The gate for this gated community worked 40% of the time we were there. The gate to enter the community stayed open for 2 weeks at one time. The trash in the front leaving the community stayed full just like the other dumpster in the back. The price, size and location are what draws you in, but DO NOT do it. It is not worth it .There is so much more I could say but I this post would be ridiculously longer than it is now.

Never will I deal with any property of Pickering & Company and Karen Lakes Apartments again. They are all about money and not satisfying the needs and safety of their tenants. I currently reside at Karen Lakes Apts. in Fay, NC. Property Management and Maintenance are HORRIBLE! You can never get hold of the properly manager by telephone at anytime. You always have to send an email and wait for a response. A week ago today the lawn crew were doing some weeding of grass when one of them hit a rock which struck and shattered my bathroom window to pieces. This was reported to the Property Manager by the lawn crew and myself. As of today, no one has come to access the damage nor attempt to put up any border to keep someone from coming through my window. It is very noticeable to all who comes through the neighborhood. On May 11, there was a water leak coming from the above apartment into my bathroom all through the light fixture and my bathroom was flooded like a lake. I contacted Tami Burton since it was weekend. One maintenance gentle came out, remove the light fixture from the ceiling and attempted to check on the problem upstairs. The gentleman came back and said he would be back in a couple of days to access the water damage and stains from my ceiling and re-attached the light fixture. This was May 11th and today is July 1st and I have not seen him since. The leak was not repaired which causes stains in my bathroom and kitchen ceiling. I had to contact them again the same day and another maintenance gentlemen came out and fix the leak that was not fixed the first time. But again no one has come to access my damage of water that was in all my lighting and the lights still flick when I cut them on nor put my light fixture back up. Work orders are always put in the Portal as COMPLETE when they are INCOMPLETE. But I am expected to pay my least on time! All the gutters are filled with leaves and pine cones which needs to be cleaned out. When it rain the water does not drain well because of these which causes a safely hazard in the yards near my complex. I have been here 3 years and I am truly disappointed in this management. I have to renew my least in September until I am able to move. This will mean I will have to break my least because I refuse to continue to deal with this poor management again. They deserve a 0 not a 1.

I do not live at this property BUT i just listened to a conversation between a current resident and the property manger, and as a property manger myself I wouldve been fired. Laurens lack of professionalism was unbelievable. I have dealt with terrible residence and have always be able to keep my composure. That might be do to personal standards and a combination of what my boss expects. Both parties became irritated in the conversation. I can understand the residents frustration, do to living in a cold apartment and trying to contact the property manger for over a week. I myself can not say that I would be calm. Lauren excuse on why she did not respond to her is due to her getting married last week, that is no excuse. Maybe at this property they do not have extra hands to assist with issues and that is a problem within itself. I have advised my friend on what she should do because the phone conversation was unacceptable. Lauren threatened her with eviction after my friend made a statement about rent. I hope that my friend uses the recored conversation between her and Lauren and goes above her head as far as needed. Especially since lauren stated that she would not answer her phone calls. This is a detestable look on Pickering and Company.

Ive been living in Karen Lake Apartments for about 3 years. I havent had any real issues and the apartments are species. When I had a issue with the air conditioner they came out and fixed it in a reasonable amount of time. My only compliant is the 2 handicap signs in front of the apartments. Parking is limited and there is actually only one person who has a handicap sticker that needs the spot. The apartments are located in a nice spot, its in town but you dont feel like youre in town. If you do move in, ask how to work the fireplace, its not complicated but I had to call the office to figure it out, lol. I dont have a pet but its a pet friendly neighborhood, I see people walking their pets all the time.
